Chapter Five: "To Zootopia!"
Nick and Judy question Jack about Savage City, only for him to tell the duo a truth they didn't believe, that Savage City was overrun by zombies. It wasn't until Jack asked them to follow him, which they reluctantly did, only to run into a corpse that was following Jack upon reaching BunnyBurrows. It wasn't until Nick shot the corpse, that Nick and Judy got their first look at a zombie. Now believing the bunny, Nick and Judy want to know more about Savage City.
"I'll tell you everything you want to know inside," I say, rubbing my left arm as a cool breeze blows by. Nick and Judy nod before starting on their way back to, I can only call it Judy's house from what I know. "Oh. And Judy?" I speak up, following them back to the house. Judy turns to me upon hearing her name. "It's bad. Zombies not just all over Savage City, but they've spread to the countryside all around it. A wasteland for miles," I explain as short, yet detailed as I can.
"Miles?" Judy continues to question, looking at me with, what I can only assume to be a hint of interest. Good. If I keep this up, maybe. Just maybe, I might be able to get help for Savage City. I can't help but smile a little at the thought of Savage City being normal again.
"Yeah," I simply reply before we reach their house. I follow them inside, only to see Judy's parents looking at us worriedly.
"Judy, dear. What's going on?" Judy's mom asks her. Oh boy. Why does it not surprise me as much as it should that they'd ask?
"Okay. This is going to sound crazy at first, but trust me. This bunny. He came all this way from Savage City to ask for the help of the ZPD. Nick and I are going to take him back to Zootopia," Judy starts. I'd say she pauses to let her parents register what she said, which is what they look like they're doing.
"What's going on at Savage City?" Judy's father asks. And, now I'm going to step in.
"Here's where it gets crazy and hard to believe. Savage City's had an outbreak. A zombie outbreak," I say. Mr. and Mrs. Hopps turn to me like I'm crazy, which no doubt they'd act like that.
"Zombies? That's a little far-fetched. Don't you think, Stu?" Mrs. Hopps says, turning to Mr. Hopps, who I now know to be Stu.
"It's true, Mom. Nick and I even seen it for ourselves. Right, Nick?" Judy says, first turning to her parents before turning to Nick, silently asking him to help out. Nick only shakes his head lightly as he walks up.
"As crazy as it sounds, Mr. and Mrs. Hopps. These two bunnies actually speak the truth. I had a hard time believing him until he shown us one himself. That's why Carrots and I are taking him back to Zootopia immediately," Nick says. Well put, Nick. Well put. Stu and Mrs. Hopps give things a little more thought, before a lightbulb lights up on Mrs. Hopps.
"Wait. If you are speaking the truth, then was that what going on when we heard shots?" Mrs. Hopps asks. And, there's the questioning about the shots Nick fired.
"Yes, ma'am," Nick answers. Wait. Why do I have a feeling that Mrs. Hopps has a point to make?
"Don't you think one of you two should stay here if there really are more of those things out there?" Mrs. Hopps asks. Called it, didn't I? And, I have to agree. She does have a valid argument.
"Now that you mention it," Judy starts. Who's going to stay, though? I mean, Nick might be a good choice to stay, since he is predator, after all. Yet, he's the one who shot the corpse down. "Nick. Could you stay here while I take him to Zootopia? Bogo's bound to believe me more than you, since," Judy hesitates in her speech for a split second. "Since you are a fox. No offence," Judy finishes. Wait, what's she mean by 'since you are a fox'? Nick gives a sigh, snapping me from my earlier thought.
"Sure thing, Carrots. I'll see you later," Nick says. Judy gives a quick nod before turning to me. What did I do now? Wait. Why am I thinking that? I didn't do anything.
"Wait here for a second," Judy says before heading off into the house. Okay? Not like I know my way around to leave, so, I really ain't got a choice but to wait. After about half a minute, Judy returns holding an OD green bag. "Here. To hold your rifle in," Judy says, handing me the gun bag. I'm a little confused, but I'll just take her word for it. Walking over to my KA-47 lying on the floor, I remove the mag before sticking the gun in the bag and close it, sliding the bag over my shoulder instead.
"Thanks," I guess. So, off to Zootopia?
"I'll be back," Judy says, facing her parents and Nick before turning to me. "Let's go," She simply says before turning to leave through the door. Oddly confused, I follow her out of the house and into the midst of BunnyBurrows, slipping my knife into the bag quickly. Better safe than sorry, I guess. We're silent for a moment as we walk through BunnyBurrows, the various bunnies staring me down, some looking scared, while most look interested, which all these looks are making me kinda nervous.
"Who's that bunny?" I hear a bunny say from behind me. I feel myself starting to quiver a bit. I'm not used to the attention, okay?
"What's with the bag?" Another whisper. Best if they don't find out. Yet.
"He's actually kinda cute," I hear. Okay. I don't know how to respond to that one.
"Hey! You coming?" I hear Judy say, but she sounds farther away. Turning to where her voice come from, I see her a good few yards in front of me. Oh! How did that happen? Must have gotten caught up in all these looks I'm getting. I give a little jog as I catch back up to Judy, who hands me a slip of paper. A train ticket?
"A ticket?" I question out loud.
"No. A tag for your bag. It's to say it's safe," Judy explains. Oh. That would explain the hook. It takes me a second, but I manage to attatch the tag to the gun bag Judy gave me, right as the train pulls in.
"Now arriving: Zootopia Express" I hear from all around the station. Chimes go off as the doors open, various mammal types exiting, before Judy boards the train, motioning me to follow, which I do. After walking through the train to a set of stairs that lead to the top. I set my gun in one of the luggage compartments before taking a seat. Oh, sweet merciful cotton, this seat feels nice compared to where I've had to rest while coming here. I can't help but smile as I give a small, content sigh as I settle in.
"Tired?" Judy asks, catching my attention. I only give a small, semi-sarcastic chuckle at her remark.
"You have no idea how nice this feels to me," I say through another sigh. Judy takes the seat beside mine as the train lurches forewords, starting off. I want to say I'd be nervous to the fact that I'm finally going to be in Zootopia, but this seat feels so nice.
"What did you say your name was again?" Judy asks, partially interrupting my thought. I turn to her before sitting upright, giving a light smile.
"Jack. Jack Sean," I say, holding my paw out. What? It's what my parents always taught me to do whenever I politely introduce myself.
"Judy Hopps. But, you probably already knew that," She says, shaking my paw. Oh, wow. Her paw's really soft. Wait. What on Earth am I thinking? Well, she probably takes better care of her paws than I do. "So, Jack," Judy starts, releasing my paw. "Exactly how long have you been travelling?" Judy asks. Well then. I never thought that question would come up this quickly. Now that I think about it, how long have I been travelling to here?
"Uhm. About," I start, dragging it out as I think. How long? Oh! That's right! "About, I'd say a month. Maybe two," I say. I watch as a shocked expression crosses Judy's face upon hearing my response.
"A month? How long ago did this start? And how?" Judy retorts. Well, we've got a few questions in our paw, don't we? I could just tell her all about how it started. Fill her in on any possible future questions she has, too.
"Do you want me to just tell you all about it? When it started, how it spread? Answer any questions you have," I suggest. Judy gives my suggestion a little bit of thought before nodding.
"Alright" Judy says. Well, this'll be nice. So that way someone else knows about this. I shift in my seat to make myself more comfortable, if even possible.
"Alright. I hope things don't take too long," I start, ready to explain to someone the start of the outbreak in Savage City.
After a briefexplanation to Judy's parents on what happened, Nick and Judy agree to takeJack into the ZPD to plea for help, but Bonnie Hopps gives a valid point thatconvinces Nick to stay at the Burrows while Judy takes Jack to the trainstation, where Judy asks about Savage City and the outbreak origins some more.Remember: Votes and reviews are always welcome!
