Naturalist Club
"Yax?" Judy asked,"Is that another one of your shady friends?"
"Well, he's my friend,"Nick said, not wanting to reveal the truth,"He's not shady though."he added, which really was the truth.
"Okay." Judy said, an uncertain look crossing her face, she knew what type of friends Nick had.
Nick could tell Judy's uncertainty,"Look, he's not shady," Nick paused,"He's just not like anybody you've ever met."
Judy looked a her map,"Where does he live?"
"Umm...might be better if I drive." Judy lifted her eyebrow in suspicion,"Because," Nick hurriedly explained,"I know how to get there like the back of my paw." Judy looked satisfied with the explanation and got out out of the drivers side to go to the shotgun. Before getting out of the car Nick let out an audible sigh. She would freak out(in a bad way) if she knew they were going to a naturalist club. But, really ,he thought, he is the only one who knows the location of Mr. Big's fortress. He stepped out of the car.
He stepped into the driver side and pushed hard on the pedal,"Why is your car so slow?"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Judy yelled,"Slow down!"she yelled over the wind.
Nick looked at the miles per hour sign on the side of the road. The speed limit was 60mph. To bad he was going 100mph. He shrugged, the police mammal wouldn't be able to catch him if he went a little faster. The car sped off, getting faster and faster with each turn .
"I'm going to give you a ticket, Nick!" threatened a very green Judy.
Nick sleepily glanced at his watch,"We're not going to get anywhere at this rate." The car started to get even faster. He loved it when it looked like Judy was going to barf. He laughed to himself and sped up.
After about ten more turns and five more really strong punches in the arm from Judy, Nick arrived at the place he wan't to be. The grounds were beautiful, natural palms and a small pond where a water polo net was strung across. The grass was a bright shade of green and a intricate stone path snaked it's way to a white gazebo surrounded by red roses. Nick did not stop to see any of it, instead he grabbed Judy, snapping her out of her trance, then he walked around big natural setup till he came to a building. Opening the door he went inside and looked for the door labeled Yax. Upon opening it there sat a yak.
"Hey Yax!" Nick exclaimed.
"Hi." Yax responded, in a hippie voice.
"Nick..."Judy yipped,"You...did...not....tell....me....that...he's.."She couldn't finish the sentence.
"Naked? It is a naturalist club sweetheart,"Nick said in a sarcastic smirk,"By the way, that was an exceptional imitation of Flash. He would have been so flattered."
"Nick!" Judy yelled. Nick couldn't help but notice she was starting to have a voice crack.
"He's the only one who knows!" Nick retorted.
"Couldn't you have gotten his student or something?!" screamed Judy.
"No, I can't! Yax, is my contact! And I don't know his student!" Nick replied.
"So?!" Judy screamed back.
"It matters! Why would you know?! You're just a bunny police officer. This is my area of expertise, not yours!"Nick yelled, causing Judy to quite and Yax to nod vigorously.
Judy sucked in hard,"I..I.." She had forgotten that this is what he did for a living and did not realize what she just did could have offended him.
"So anyway, Yax." Nick said dismissing Judy, yet still not forgiving her, he really was hurt by what she said,"Tell me the location of the Fortress."
Yax gasped,"The Fortress."
Nick nodded solemnly,"Hmhm."
"Okay, I'll show you."Yax replied.
Nick let out an audible sigh, Yax agreed. Not many trusted foxes.
Yax left his office and Nick followed closely behind. Judy paused a moment before following them both. Soon they left the building and were strolling along the gravel path.
"So," Judy said to Nick,"What exactly is the Fortress?"
Nick shrugged and refused to make eye contact. He walked ahead. The grounds were beautiful and the day was in it's prime, he wasn't going to let an insignificant and offending bunny ruin it. He smiled as an idea of Judy tripping appeared in his mind. He was savoring that moment when that evil bunny had the nerve to ruin it.
"Hey, Nick." Judy swallowed, as if she was going to say something important.
"We here yet Yax?" Nick inquired, cutting Judy off, not wanting to hear what she said, after all, she had offended him.
"Yep," Yax stopped and pulled back some vines,"This is it."
Behind the vines was a cluttered desk with locked drawers. Yax took out a ring of keys from his messed up hair. Judy cringed. Yax opened the top drawer.
"Here's all the information you need to know." He handed Nick a folder. Nick opened the folder, glanced at the information quickly and nodded a nod of thanks to Yax.
"Can I keep this for a few days?" Nick asked.
"Sure, return it though." Yax said.
Nick nodded solemnly and turned to go back to the car. His strides were long and he knew that Judy would have a hard time catching up. He did it on purpose.
"Nick!" Judy shouted from a few feet back,"Stop."
"Why? I thought you needed to hurry since you need to solve this case, so you can prove yourself. Cause it matters so much to you, because you just want to be someone you're not." Nick sourly replied.
Judy did a sharp intake, did he really believe that, why did she keep offending him? "I just wanted to say...." she paused.
"What." Nick snapped.
"That I believe." Nick scoffed at Judy's start to her speech,"That predators and prey can be friends you know." Nick looked at her strangely,"That just because we were born enemies mean we have to be enemies, we can be friends, just give me chance, I want to be your friend."
"You'll just get me arrested." Nick scoffed.
"No, I won't." Judy said,"I don't want to fight, I want there to be peace."
"Friendships develop over time," Nick began,"They don't just happen."
"That's not necessarily true." Judy muttered.
"I know." said Nick, they don't just happen. Then he walked off.
"Nick!" Judy's voice stopped him.
What now? He thought. He turned around again.
"I just want to apologize." Judy shyly murmured, "I didn't mean to offend you."
"It's okay." Nick replied, allowing himself a secret smile.
"So, you wanna drive, since you know where the fortress is?" Judy said.
"Sure." Nick said,"Though you may want to have this so you can look at the floor plan of the Fortress so you can hatch a plan by the time we get there." With a reluctant face, Nick handed the folder to Judy,"Give it back though, that's top secret information."
Judy nodded,"That sounds fine by me." She hesitantly tossed him the keys, remembering the last time that she had let him drive,"Just a sec, I need to grab a barf bag from the trunk."
Nick grinned, and slid into the front seat,"Hurry up, Hopps, before I leave you behind."
Judy rolled her large purple eyes as she hopped into the shotgun seat, holding an extremely large bag,"Shut it, Nick."
Nick smirked and set the car into gear. Just for that remark she would be using that barf bag. Nick zoomed off.
