The year is 2022. Sophie is packing her backpack in the hall. She puts on her shoes, jacket and backpack. She goes out to the car where her parents are waiting. Her mom (Julia) sits in the front seat. She is going to drive Sophie to her new school. Her dad (William) sits in the back seat. Sophie jumps into the car. It is only a thirty minutes drive. Julia and William smile at each other. It's their daughter Sophie's first day in college. After a couple of hours, they arrive to The Smart Owl College. The wind is howling. Sophie is shivering.

Julia: Do you want us to go with you?

Sophie looks around.

Sophie: No thanks. It's fine. I don't think anybody else brings their parents with them to school.

Sophie's parents wave to her from the car. She waves back. Sophie goes to the front door of the school. It's closed. She knocks on it and a woman who wears a white bow diadem opens directly, with a smile.

- Hey, which grade are you in?

- My name is Sophie. Grade 1. It's my first day here.

- Welcome! I'm your main teacher, Gabriella.

Sophie follows Gabriella to the classroom. The pupils look at Sophie, they don't stare as they always did in high school. It feels more like home at this school. She goes in to the classroom.

Gabriella: Take a seat.

Sophie looks at all of her classmates. At last, she fixes her eyes on a guy with hair gel, who looks at her and smiles. He seems so nice. Her heart starts to pound fast as she walks to the chair beside him. She hangs her backpack up on the chair and takes a seat. The guy stretches out his hand.

- Hello, my name is Noah. What's yours?

Sophie shakes hands with him.

- Sophie. Nice to meet you, Noah.

- Nice to meet you too.

Sam looks at Sophie's backpack. It's purple with a Hello Kitty face in the middle. He smiles.

- Nice backpack.

Sophie looks at Noah. Now she knows one thing. She's in love with him.

- Thanks.

Gabriella: Let's talk about your expectations of your college time. We won't start with the lessons today, I want to let you know each other first.

Sophie: I'm loving it. This place feels just like home.

Some pupils laugh at her.

Gabriella: Be kind to each other, everybody.

Noah: Exactly. Be kind.

Sophie looks at Noah, with relief.

- Thanks.

- No problem. Helping is what friends do for each other.

A girl with a cool style (Michelle) begins to talk.

- I'm looking forward to all the great lessons, like, music and gymnastics.

Sam: Y'all should watch and learn when you see me playing at the soccer games. I'm the best, and I'm not joking.

Noah: You'll never know how the days are going to be. Me neither. No one knows. That's why I don't have an answer to this question.

Gabriella: That was a poetic answer.

It gets quiet.

Gabriella: Anyone else?

No one answers.

- Okay. Now, as you know each other, the first college day is over. You can go now.

Noah: Thanks for today. See you tomorrow!

Sophie likes Noah very much. He is so polite. She can see her parents car, parked in front of the school. She looks around to see where Noah is, but there's no trace of him.
When everybody has left the college, Noah is left alone, sneaking around, looking for food. A butterfly flies towards him. He points out his tongue, closes his mouth and swallows the butterfly. For a short moment, his eyes turns red, but then, they get natural again.

- Blood... I want blood.

Sophie comes into his mind. Then he nods. He likes the idea of biting her neck.

At home, at night, Sophie can't stop thinking about Noah while watching TV with her parents in the living room.

- I love him.

Sophie smiles.

William: I remember my first day in college when me and your mom fell in love. We didn't know each other at all.

Julia: But now we do.

Julia and William smile at each other. Sophie sighs.

- I'm going to bed...

Sophie turns off the lamp, on the little table, beside the bed. She sees stars shining bright through her window and smiles.

- Good night Noah.

Julia is in a deep sleep.

Julia: Hurry up, you're late!

Sophie rushes up from bed and Julia backs (fast) to the door, so Sophie won't run into her. Sophie is in the kitchen within a second, with her favorite hoodie on.

William: That was fast! Don't spill maple syrup over your hoodie as you always do.

Sophie takes a red apple from the fruit basket placed in front of her dad, and slides on her socks into the hall.

- Bye!

Julia and William: Bye, Sophie!

Julia: Take care!

Sophie hurries to college while eating the apple. She's late, but luckily, it's break. All of the pupils are standing in front of the school. Her teacher, Gabriella, comes out.

- It was false alarm! Who pushed the fire alarm button?

Noah is alone inside school. He's reading in Sophie's notebook that he found in her bench. He stops turning the pages when suddenly a note about himself shows up.

"I'm in love with Noah. He's so cute, nice and cool. I wish he could be my boyfriend..."

- I'm in love with you too, Sophie. But sadly, I have to turn you into a zombie while no one sees us, cuz I'm so hungry. I need human blood... Sorry, Sophie.

Noah closes the notebook slowly, replaces it in Sophie's bench and disappears from the classroom. Outside, he appears in a big crowd of pupils, so that no one will suspect that he has been inside school. Sophie catches sight of him immediately.
