Chapter 4
Everyone was in fight mode ready to attack. The scoundrels were stumbling and staggering towards them. They looked like beastly creatures from the craves of hell. One scoundrel got laid head off with a black mass spinning heel kick. James blasted a few of their heads off. Diaz, Jerry, Jack and other crew members fired at the moving targets. Their bullets punched it's way through their heads, causing a gaping hole in it's wake that quickly filled with blood and gushed out. But other scoundrels kept on coming. It was a swam, therefore, they had to retreat.
"Lucy". James screamed while firing. "Almost there, give me one more minute". Lucy retorted while still working on the car. "Sounds like a swam". Diaz said, backing off. "Lucy hurry up we got to go". James again screamed. "I got it". Lucy replied while hurrying into the vehicle. "Everyone back into your vehicles, now! Move, move, move". James said repeatedly barking orders at his team. They all hopped back into their respective vehicles. "Come on, come on! ". James said continuously while trying to spark the car. Just then, a scoundrel run into the glass, head first, going at it hammer and tongs. James was finally able to spark. While moving, he was running through countless scoundrels in order to clear the way. The crew barely escaped and made their way into the once peaceful Emerald city.
The city was abandoned, deserted, uninhabited. This happened since the first outburst. Garbage everywhere. The two cars finally pulled over at the entrance of the Emerald university medical center. The center was no better. It had been turned inside out and upside down. The whole city was filled with trash and dead corpses almost decayed.
"Lucy, Jack, Rogers, you stay out here, everyone else on me". James said assembling his crew for the mission. The door crept open, the rest of the crew members entered into the dark abandoned center with their flashlights, the only source of light. James pointed his gun left and right ready to fire at any moving target.
"Take right". Ivy whispered the direction to the crew. The crew obliged as they were pointing their guns wildly ready to fire. "Straight, then take a left at the end". Ivy again said, whispering. The center was filled with dirty tiles, broken cabinets, corpses in bloodstained lab coats and rusted metal bed frames. The center was as quiet as a cemetery. "Clear let's move". Jerry said after surveying the area. They finally got to the "pharmacy" department. Ivy pressed in the code to unlock the door. "Clear". Erica said as they rushed into into the ward.
"These are vaccines, those are antibiotics, grab those first". Ivy said to Erica as they began filling their bags.
"Lucy, how's the situation out there, over". James said over his field telephone. "All clear, over". Lucy replied. "Stay put we'll be out in five, over". James said once more. "Alright we got it, let's go". Ivy said and the crew were on their way. "We got to move". James ordered. As they were hurrying, Ivy spotted the lab. The place she used to conduct experiments with Suzie. She slipped into the lab unnoticed as the other crew members were out of sight. She started grabbing more equipment. She also grabbed pictures of she and Suzie. What Ivy didn't notice was that, there was a scoundrel lurking in the shadows. The scoundrel kept stalking it's prey. When Ivy was leaving, she finally spotted the scoundrel and fired the first shot which missed her target. She sprinted out of the lab and away banging the door behind her. The sound of the gun shot echoed throughout the center as other scoundrels were awoken by the sound.
"Where's Ivy". James said seriously. The center was practically filled with scoundrels. Ivy finally got to her team. "What the hell happened, we need to move now!". James said staring at Ivy. Just then a scoundrel started charging at them. Jerry shot it down. Just then, a scoundrel jumped on the back of Jerry. It's tilted head moved, and it bit Jerry right in the neck. He screamed in agony. "Come on Jerry let's go". James yelled. "He's infected". Diaz said to James. Now a lot of scoundrels started feasting on Jerry. The crew had no option than to leave without a member. They were finally out of the center.
"James, where's Jerry". Lucy said. "He's gone, move, move, move!". James said hurrying into the vehicle. The crew barely escaped and left for the camp, leaving Jerry behind who was just devoured by countless scoundrels. When they got back to the camp area, they got a pissed off commander staring at them. But that was not their only problem. What they didn't know was that, a scoundrel had secured itself tightly to the metallic bar beneath the last or second vehicle and was now in the camp site, lurking and stalking it's prey.
So you could only imagine the hell Xavier's academy has let in it's doors.
