Chapter Three
One Week Later
A week. That's how long my parents have been fighting. It was a cold war: the kind of fight where no one speaks to each other. It was a Saturday again. We were currently sitting together eating lunch in our kitchen. I anxiously watched my parents, shifting my eyes between them. Until... I couldn't take it anymore. I slammed my fists on the table, my fork echoing metallic sounds in the process.
"This has to stop! How long are you going to two going to go on like this?! I can't take it!! Stop fighting!! I... I just want this to end!!" I snapped before running upstairs to my room in a flash.
"Wait, Zoey! Come back!" My mother begged.
"Zoella, come back here right now!" Dad said sternly, but I didn't listen.
I slammed my door and locked it, sliding down and beginning to cry. I continued to do for most of the night.
~Two days later~
"We're getting a divorce."
My heart dropped when I heard that. It was what I feared. My worse fear became true. My mother's voice continued to ring in my head, those four words repeating over and over. I ran to Zombietown, where Bailey, Harper and Kelsey lived to share my problems. However, I ran into them instead.
"Woah! Woah! Hey Zoe!" Bailey said, as she caught me before we both fell on the pavement.
"What's wrong?" Harper's eyes widened in concern. I continued to pant out of breath, with tears glistening in my eyes.
"My... my parents... are getting a divorce!" I cried, immediately latching onto Bailey's shoulder.
"Hey, it's going to be ok! You'll get through this." Harper replied, in a soothing tone of voice.
"No!! No. I won't! My mom is moving, my dad is too stubborn to move with her, a-a-and now I have to decide who to live with!!!" I snapped back, starting to hyperventilate on accident.
"Hey, Hey, Hey! Look at me, Zoella. You are strong. You are the daughter of a zombie and a human. The first ones to have a relationship in Seabrook. Ever. Zoella, you will got through this! Do you understand me?" Between Bailey's grip on my shoulders and the intensity of her gaze, I couldn't look away, or escape the reality I was in. She was right. I was strong, and I could- no. Would get through this. I took in a breath. I nodded as my tears seemed to go away.
"You're right. I'll get through this." I replied with a smile as the three of us walked back to my house.
Author's Note
I'm just going to end the chapter here (I'm tired of seeing it- it's tormenting me I swear!)
In other news, the hurricane, Florence, might hit my state or it will be the end of the storm. I hope that anyone that was affected if safe and well... alive. They had to evacuate many people out of the Carolinas yesterday...
Anyway, on that sad note, I hope everyone enjoyed!
If anyone's waiting for Princess of the Pridelands or Lucy Quinn- they're coming. It's just school and life happen you know?
Bye!
