~3 months later~

I tried my hardest to get my parents to talk again- in a way, it worked. They talked some, but not a whole lot. With my graduation coming up, I decided enough was enough. I was tired of trying to convince them and tired of plotting with Bailey, Harper and Kelsey. I decided to write a letter, expressing my feelings and demanding a family meeting.

Dear Mom and Dad,

I can't do this anymore. I'm sick and tired of trying to get you guys to communicate... it isn't working. Every time I try, the opportunity is wasted. You act as though I don't know why you are arguing: I am not an idiot.

Mom, you want to move your business and dad wants to stay, I get that... but what about what I want? I'm part of this family too!

I want us to figure this out together, and if we have to move. Then we can move.

I'll be off to college soon... please just consider!

We must talk. A family meeting is needed: urgently.

I love both of you, but I can't pick a side. Please don't shut me out.

I took a deep breath, signed my name and closed the letter, placing it on the kitchen counter. It was a Saturday, so mom and dad were both out of the house. I then left to tell Bailey what I did.

A few hours later...

I returned home and froze. My mom and dad, sitting on opposites sides of our kitchen table, were waiting for me.
"We saw your note," mom began holding up my paper, "so... let's talk." I nod slowly and sit down. And for the next hour we talk.

Six months later...

Today's the day: graduation day. I'm finally out of high school and off to college. You want to hear the big news? After our long talk and thinking it over, my mom and me are going to California. Her for her business, and me for school as a psychical therapy for football. Of course, dad was thrilled!

Bailey is going to North Carolina to go to a local a STEM school and Harper is going up to Miami with a basketball scholarship- like they always wanted.

What can I say? We are all moving on with our lives. Happy, and together.

And they all lived happily ever after.
