Not All Ghosts Are Evil

Aquarius was walking to his first class at school when he felt someone watching him. He looked around. He didn't see them, but he knew they were there somewhere.

He started walking faster and ran down a set of stairs. He just needed to get to P.E. class.

"Hey! Aqua!" A familiar boy with blond hair ran after Aquarius.

Aquarius continued walking and started to wish he chose music over P.E.

Pisces caught up to Aquarius. "Aquaaaaaaaa! It's rude to ignore people! You're being ruuuuuude. Aqua! AQUA. Aqua~, I'm going to keep saying your name in different tones until you answer me."

Aquarius stopped walking. "What do you want?"

Pisces smiled. "To be your friend. Of course Cancer wants to be your friend too. You should be Cancer's friend. He's still heartbroken that Leo blocked him. Don't be cruel to poor heartbroken Cancer."

Aquarius rolled his eyes and started walking again. "Why would he be heartbroken that Leo blocked him?"

Pisces shrugged. "He... uh... likes her. Yeah!"

"You're a bad liar."

"I know. I'm just trying to get you to pity us."

"That's nice. Can you leave me alone now?"

"Why can't you be my friend?"

Aquarius walked into the gym. Four volleyball nets were set up across the floor. "I trusted you guys once. Now I'm reluctant to trust people."

"But it's not like me or Cancer betrayed you."

Aquarius put his book bag on the stage and sat down. He plugged his earphones into his phone and started listening to music. Pisces sighed in defeat and went into the changing rooms.

***

The gym teacher walked out of her office. "Alright! Class is starting!"

Aquarius pulled his earphones out and walked over beside the teacher.

"Today we're going to have a volleyball tournament. Everyone pick a partner and then come tell me who your partner is."

Aquarius looked around. Neither of his friends were in this class. He decided to wait and see who else would be left without a partner.

After everyone else told the teacher who they wanted to be partners with, Aquarius walked up.

"Miss, I don't have a partner."

She furrowed her brow and checked her sheet. "I wrote here that you were partners with Pisces."

Aquarius wanted to punch a wall. He should have expected this. "Okay." He turned around and looked for Pisces.

"That's right miss! We're friends!" Pisces appeared beside Aquarius.

"Good to know." Then she started deciding who was going to play against who. Aquarius walked away and sat with his back against the wall. Pisces sat beside him.

"You're annoying."

Pisces laughed. "Actually, I'm not. You just think I'm annoying because you'd rather I not be around you at all."

"Got that right."

"Sagittarius is our friend. You know what they say, the cute, adorable friend of your best friend is also your friend."

"I don't care what they say. I'm not talking to you."

"But we're on a team for volleyball."

The teacher walked out of her office. "Alright everyone! Lilly and Becky will play against Aquarius and Pisces on court one..."

Aquarius and Pisces got up and walked over to court one. Two girls snickered at them on the other side.

"If we win, you have to agree to be my friend again," suggested Pisces.

"Maybe."

Becky took the ball and served. It smacked the ground between Aquarius and Pisces.

"It's okay. We still stand a chance!" cheered Pisces.

Aquarius laughed. "Those two are on the provincial volleyball team. We don't stand a chance."

"There's a provincial volleyball team?"

"Yeah. I know because Sag-"

The ball hit Aquarius in the face. Lilly and Becky high fived.

Pisces sighed. "Can't we be friends anyway?"

Aquarius didn't answer.

Aries walked around the hospital room as she waited for Leo to come back and visit. It was always so boring in the same old hospital room everyday.

She was in the middle of randomly spinning around in circles, when the door swung open.

Huh? She's early! Aries smiled and looked up. It wasn't Leo.

"Sag? I haven't seen you in forever! I'm glad you decided to visit me!" Aries ran forward to give Sagittarius a hug, but ended up floating through her. Oh yeah. I'm still a ghost.

"Hey." Sagittarius sat down in the chair beside the bed. "I'm sorry I didn't visit earlier." She unzipped her book bag and grabbed her lunch box. "I've been meaning to visit you, but I don't want to deal with Leo." She pulled a sub and a juice box out of her lunch bag. "That's why I decided to visit during lunch."

Aries sat on the bed facing Sagittarius. "Why are you avoiding Leo? The three of us are best friends!"

Sagittarius sighed. "You look so pale. It's too odd seeing you like this. It seems like only yesterday we ran through the park in Fortis while spraying silly string everywhere."

"The doctors say that I'm not getting any better or worst. According to them it's unclear weather I'll wake up or not. But we all know I will. I'm too strong to stay down for long, haha."

Sagittarius put her sub down and knelt in front of Aries' bed. "The doctors say you can hear me as I talk to you. Honestly, I have no idea, but I believe you can. I wonder if you're a ghost, wandering around this room while your body is sleeping. That would be cool. You're probably wondering how everybody is doing."

"YES! What's everyone been up to? Spill the gossip! Wait, I mean... spill the beans!"

Sagittarius sighed. "Taurus, Scorpio and Libra sharing an house. Scorpio's smiling more at school, so that's good. Lotus died. At first Cancer was taking it pretty hard, but I decided to be their friend again. I think that cheered him up. He still gets sad sometimes, but he's getting better."

"WHAT? No! Not Lotus! Lotus Motus was such a cute dog."

"Pisces and Cancer are getting me to help them become friends with Aquarius again. Aquarius is determined to keep avoiding them. I don't know a lot about Virgo, only that he shares an apartment with Aquarius. Libra and Virgo are back to being best friends. I've been avoiding Leo."

"What? Why are you avoiding Leo? The three of us are really close!"

Sagittarius sighed. "I want to go back to Leo, but she's going through a lot. She's so worried about you that she has low patience with everyone else. That's why I gave her space. It's kind of sweet. I thought Leo was cold, but she cares so much about you. I guess it shows that she's a caring person after all."

Aries chuckled. "She sure does like acting tough. I want to tell her to stop worrying about me though!"

"Who's left? Cap and Gemini are living together. Capricorn always seems like there's something on his mind. Gemini is depressed. Oh, and he has a twin sister named Gem. She's in my art. She seems nice but kinda evil. I think we'd get along with her pretty well. Yeah, I think that's everyone."

Aries gasped. "Is everyone worried about me? Who talks about wanting me to wake up? Anyone? Oh wait, you can't hear me."

"I just came by to see how you were doing. I'd better get back to class. See you."

"No! Don't go yet! I'm so looooooonely!" Aries walked over to Sagittarius and leaned on her.

"You're a constellation. You're stronger than normal humans. Your recovery time should be a lot better too. I'll be waiting for you when you wake up." Sagittarius grabbed her sub, got up, and smiled at Aries before she left.

Cancer was in art class. The teacher was explaining an upcoming project that they were going to do. Cancer was too busy tuning out and daydreaming to pay attention.

Cancer smirked and folded a paper airplane. Virgo was sitting at the table in front of Cancer. Instead of desks, the art room had tables that could fit around six people at each table.

Wait! It's not finished!

Cancer held back his laughter as he wrote a message on the side of the plane.

Wanna be my friend? :) I want my friends back

Cancer chuckled as he threw the plane at Virgo. It hit him in the back of the head.

Virgo snatched the plane off the ground and read the message. Then he slowly turned and looked at Cancer.

Cancer smiled and waved.

Virgo crumpled the paper and threw it back at Cancer.

"... I'll now pick your partners for the project!" announced the teacher.

Cancer crossed his fingers. Please be Virgo... please be Virgo... please be Virgo...

The teacher drew random names out of the hat. "Timmy and Johnny... Becky and Bec... Cancer and Gem..."

Cancer crossed his arms. I'll just have to work on making him my friend again some other time.

After everyone learned what groups they were in, they moved so that they could sit next to their partners. Cancer stayed seated, waiting for his partner to come to him.

Gem sat in the seat next to Cancer. "Hi, I'm Gem."

Cancer nodded. "I've seen you around. You look a lot like my friend-"

"Gemini?"

"Yes."

"I'm his twin."

"Haha."

"I'm serious."

"Wait, he has a twin? Since when?"

"Since forever."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Oh."

Gem looked at the crumpled piece of paper. "I saw you throw that plane. Did you throw it just to annoy him?"

Cancer uncrumpled the paper. "See? I'm trying to get him and everyone else to be my friend again, but it's not working very well. I made one new friend, everyone else ignores me and my friend Pisces."

Gem nodded. "So, you and the other constellations used to be best friends, but now they don't want to be your friend anymore because of the war and stuff?"

"Exactly!"

Gem smiled. "Well, I'll be your friend. I'll also help everyone become friends again."

"Really?"

"Yeah. My brother is sad that everything went so downhill after the war and apparently he's not the only one. That's why if I help you all become friends again, you'll all be happy again!"

Cancer grinned. "That would be awesome! Wait, if you're Gemini's twin, are you a constellation too?"

"Yeah. I'm the thirteenth zodiac."

"I thought the thirteenth zodiac was Ophi-"

"I know! But out of this group of constellations I'm number thirteen. Ophiuchus isn't the thirteenth zodiac, they're the fake zodiac."

"I see."

"Cancer Motus and Gem Geminae, get to work!" ordered the teacher.

"So, what do you want to do for our project?" asked Gem.

"I wasn't paying attention."

"Me either."

"Well... we're off to a good start."

"Ask they teacher what we have to do."

"Can you ask?"

"Are you embarrassed to admit that you weren't paying attention in front of the class?"

"Why won't you do it?"

"Because I'm awesome."

"So?"

"Awesome people always have someone else to do their dirty work."

"How is asking a question dirty work?"

"It's not. That's why it shouldn't be hard for you to do."

"Well played."

Scorpio was in the middle of language class. They were learning about sentence structure for the third year in a row.

Most people were doodling, daydreaming, or secretly checking their phones. Scorpio's notebook was full of little tornadoes.

Scorpio just finished drawing another tornado when she couldn't stand to be in this class any longer.

"... and you would use this kind of sentence- yes Scorpio?"

"May I use the washroom?"

"Sure."

Scorpio got up and walked out of class. She took her time walking down the hallways.

When Scorpio opened the door, Leo was sitting with her back against the wall, on her phone.

"What are you doing here?" Scorpio walked over to the mirror and glanced at her reflection.

Leo shrugged. "I'm really bored."

Scorpio noticed that there was a sticky note on the back of her head. She plucked it off.

Leo laughed. "You got one too?"

Scorpio looked for writing on the sticky note, but it was blank. "What's going on with the sticky notes?"

"Capricorn and Gemini had a competition. Who can stick the most sticky notes on other people without them noticing."

Scorpio sat down beside Leo. "In language we're doing sentence structure."

"So that's why you're hiding in here?"

"Pretty much."

Leo sighed. Then she looked at Scorpio. "I'm starting to miss talking to you guys. With everything that's going on, I started pushing everyone else away. I'm starting to regret it."

Scorpio smiled. "I mean, it never really did bother me that much, but it would be nice if everyone could be friends again."

"Still afraid to admit when you're sad?"

"What do you mean? I'm not sad."

"Everyone gets sad when their friends push them away."

"Not me."

"You're forgetting that I already know what you're like."

"People change."

"Not that much."

"I don't get sad very often."

"You isolated yourself and wouldn't talk to anyone for weeks."

"I still don't talk to a lot of people. Are you still pushing everyone away?"

"I blocked Cancer when he tried to text me yesterday. I also pushed Sagittarius away which caused her to move out."

Scorpio frowned. "Oh."

Leo sighed. "I think we're all suffering from the incident one way or another."

"For sure, but let's not talk about it because I don't want to feel... uncomfortable."

"That's a nice way of saying that it makes you sad."

"I don't get sad often."

"That phrase itself is pretty sad."

"How?"

"It's sad when people don't show emotions around others. They're what makes us human."

"Then why do you push everyone away?"

"I... uh..."

"Is it because it's easier than facing your emotions?"

"..."

"Am I right?"

"I'd better get back to class."

"Me too. Good talk."

"Yeah." Leo practically sprinted down the hallway. Scorpio sighed and pulled her phone out of her pocket.

Taurus and Libra were sitting together in photography club. They were in the art room, listening as the teacher explained their upcoming photography project.

After she finished explaining, the teacher told everyone to get in groups of two or three.

"So, what do you want to do for our project?" asked Taurus.

Libra shrugged. "We just have to find a few pictures of something blue. Nothing too hard."

"I have an idea."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. You know how the colour blue is often associated with loneliness and sadness?"

"Yeah."

"So for our project, we can take pictures of blue items that are kind of sitting alone."

"Mmmhmm."

"For example, a blue ball on an empty field."

"Definitely."

"The items will need to look lonely, or the pictures will have to have a sad mood."

"Yeah."

"Then we'll present them, and the overall moods will go along with the colour of the objects."

"For sure."

"What do you think?"

"Mmmhmm."

Taurus sighed. "Are you listening to me right now?"

"Oh yeah."

"Libra..."

"Cool."

Taurus snapped her fingers. "Libra."

"Definitely."

Taurus waved her hand in front of Libra's face.

Libra blinked in surprise and looked at Taurus. "What?"

"Did you hear anything I just said?"

"Of course."

"I don't think you did."

"Virgo looks so lonely over there by himself. We should ask if he wants to be part of our group."

"Were you starting at him the whole time?"

Libra's face turned red, and she covered Taurus's mouth. "Of course not. That would be weird."

Taurus rolled her eyes. "Go invite your boyfriend over here."

"He's not my boyfriend." Libra got up and walked over to Virgo. "Hey. Want to join me and Taurus' group?"

Virgo shrugged. "Doesn't matter to me."

"Great. Come on." Libra grabbed his arm and pulled him over to her table. "He said yes."

Taurus rolled her eyes. "Now I need to explain everything all over again."

***

Taurus finished explaining. "Now, what do you think?"

Virgo shrugged. "Works for me."

Libra nodded. "I like that idea."

Virgo drummed his fingers against the table. "Are we allowed to start taking pictures yet? Or do we have to wait until next class?"

Libra started drumming her fingers faster than Virgo's. "There's only ten minutes left. There's not really any point to starting now."

Virgo drummed his fingers even faster. "Then what can we do?"

Libra drummed her fingers as fast as she could. "We could talk I guess."

Virgo drummed his fingers as fast as he could with one hand, while using the other to grab Libra's hand, which stopped her from drumming her fingers. "You stopped, so I win."

Libra chuckled and tried to pull her hand away from Virgo's. "You made me stop by grabbing my hand."

Virgo intertwined their fingers. "But you still stopped, therefore I'm the best finger drummer."

Libra smirked. "If you wanted a reason to hold my hand, you should of just said so."

Virgo smiled. "Your hands are so warm. How are they always warm?"

Libra shrugged. "I don't know."

Taurus let out an exaggerated sigh. "If I'm third wheeling, I can leave."

"Huh? Why would you be third wheeling?" Virgo awkwardly pulled his hand away from Libra's.

"Just... nevermind."

Capricorn and Gemini were in the empty storage room of their apartment.

"There, all clean!" announced Gemini.

"So, where is she going to sleep? She doesn't have a bed or a closet or anything."

"I might leave her a sleeping bag and maybe a pillow or two."

Capricorn playfully punched Gemini. "And the best brother award goes to..."

Gemini rolled his eyes. "Where is Gem anyway? Did she go to photography club?"

"Why are you asking me?"

"I don't know."

Capricorn walked towards the living room. Gemini followed.

Capricorn sat on the couch. "We'll have to go buy a bed for her."

Gemini sat down beside Capricorn. "She can buy one herself."

Capricorn leaned on Gemini. "I'm so tired."

Gemini patted Capricorn on the head. "Poor baby."

"You can't torment me. You're always tired."

"Does the baby need a diaper change?"

Capricorn playfully punched Gemini. "I need some sugar. Let's go to the candy shop."

"We have to wait for Gem to get home first."

"Whyyyyyyyyyyy?"

"Because I promised I'd show her where the candy shop is."

"Fine. What's it like having a random girl come up to you and say she's your twin sister?"

"It's kinda weird, honestly. There's no way I'd believe her if she didn't look exactly like me."

"I wonder what my twin would look like if I had one. I bet she'd be hot."

"But she can't be hot if she looks just like you."

Capricorn elbowed Gemini. "I'm hotter than you."

"You are not."

"Yes I am."

"No way."

"In order to be hot, you have to win the sticky note contest."

"How do you know you won?"

"Because I stuck one on Scorpio without her noticing."

"Okay, that's rare. You definitely won."

Gem walked through the door. "I have a plan!"

"Candy shop time!" Capricorn jumped up.

Gem put her hands on her hips. "No, sit down until you hear my plan. It's important!"

Gemini crossed his arms. "If it involves running from the police, we're not doing it."

"Will you just listen?"

Capricorn sat down. "Alright. What's your plan?"

Gem smiled. "I'm going to help bring all the zodiac together again!"
