Flashback 1
A/N: These flashbacks will randomly pop up, usually when there's a huge cliffhanger. Not everyone is in every flashback.
If you skip a flashback because your sign isn't in it, you will miss important things that won't be explained anywhere else in the story
The flashbacks will follow Gem and eventually you'll find out what happened during the incident, and afterwards.
Ingenio, Before the incident...
Gem almost tripped while pushing people out of the way. Her feet splashed through the thin layer of water that covered the ground as she ran forward.
Everyone else in this country had special shoes made to keep the water out, but Gem didn't get a chance to buy any, so she suffered through having wet feet.
She pulled her black hoodie over her head and made sure her sunglasses were still on her face. She did not want people to recognize her.
A huge crowd surrounded a large balcony in front of the castle... and Gem wanted to be in the front.
Everyone gathered around the balcony to see their new ruler be crowned.
Some guards were standing outside, preventing people from entering the castle. The ceremony would take place on the balcony, everyone was to watch from below. This is because all these people would never fit inside the throne room. It seemed like everyone in the country came to watch, although that was not possible.
Some people protested to being ruled by a constellation, but most thought of the zodiac as gods. The majority were excited for higher beings to walk amongst the earth with them.
Gem had a good view when the doors opened. She looked up to see a bunch of important looking people step onto the balcony.
The last to step out was a girl with brown hair and brown eyes. She looked around Gem's age, and she tried to look like she wasn't nervous. She failed.
A woman with silver hair and blue eyes stepped forward. She looked confident and she wore a beautiful dress that looked like it was made out of stardust. "Attention ladies and gentlemen, we have a special event planned for today. I am Princess Andromeda, princess of the constellations. My father, King Cepheus, sent me here to earth to crown your new rulers, and here on Ingenio we will be crowning your new queen. Queen Scorpio!"
A round of applause and cheering almost made Gem go deaf.
It was clear Princess Andromeda didn't really know how to host a crowning ceremony, but she was trying her best.
Scorpio shyly stepped forward and picked at the ends of her hair. She looked at all the people below her, and smiled.
A trumpet started playing, but it did not sound horrible.
Andromeda grabbed a pillow made out of red and gold fabric from someone behind her. On top of the pillow, sat a crown. The crown was silver with lots of gems that glistened in the sunlight.
Everyone went silent as they watched Andromeda place the crown on Scorpio's head.
Everyone else bowed, so Gem did too.
Andromeda turned to Scorpio. "My queen, would you like to give a few words to your people?"
Scorpio paused for a second. "I won't have to wear those big fancy dresses everyday, right?"
The crown erupted with laughter. Gem didn't find that comment all that funny, but she supposed if she wanted to suck up to the queen, she would have laughed too.
Andromeda walked back to the front of the balcony. "There will be an actual celebration in the ballroom for guests who received a special invitation. To celebrate the coronation of the queen, there will be fire works later." Andromeda smiled at Scorpio and stepped back. "You may have the last word, my queen."
Scorpio shrugged. "Well, I'll see you all later. Bye."
Confetti shot out of what appeared to be no where. Everyone screamed and pushed each other to grab a piece of confetti.
Scorpio and the crew on the balcony walked back into the castle, except for one guard who was there to ensure no one snuck into the castle through the balcony.
Gem didn't know what to do. She was supposed to be finding her brother, but she supposed she had enough time to stay and relax in this country for a bit.
It took her a long time to actually get here, so she didn't want to hit the road just yet.
As long as she was getting closer to her brother, that was the main thing.
And when she found Gemini, she wouldn't come out and introduce herself right away. She planned to spy on him for a bit, and find out what kind of person he was.
Gem reached up and grabbed a handful of confetti before it stopped pouring down.
Shoving the confetti in her pocket, she walked back towards the hotel to make plans for tonight.

Gem walked towards the castle wearing the fanciest dress she could find. She applied her own make up and curled her hair. Gem also wore coloured eye contacts, because she had to look as unnoticeable as she could. Her feet were wet from the layer of water that was somehow always covering the ground. At least it wasn't cold water.
You absolutely had to look your best while attending an event in the castle, it was an unspoken rule.
Gem only arrived on this continent a week ago, so she did not have a special invitation to get in the castle. She would not let this stop her.
There were lots of guards patrolling the area and guarding all entrances.
Gem walked up to the guard. He was a tall, expressionless man. "Hello."
"Invitation please."
Gem looked through her purse. "Oh dear me, I think I lost-"
"No invitation, no ballroom for you."
"I'll go re-trace my steps to see if I can find it." Gem walked away. That didn't go nearly as planned.
Gem was trying to think of a plan B, when someone approached her.
Gem looked up to see a girl with long black hair and a soft face. She wore a lot of make up and coloured eye contexts. It seemed like she was trying to be as unrecognizable as possible, much like Gem.
"Excuse me, are you lost?"
Gem shook her head. "I lost my invitation and I can't get in."
The girl smiled. "Just let me handle that." She linked her arm with Gem's and walked up to the guards. "Good day, gentlemen."
"Invitation." The same guard kept his emotionless stare on Gem.
The girl pulled an invitation out of her purse. "I brought a friend, but she lost her invitation. Is that alright?"
The guard's eyes widened at the name on the invitation. Then he bowed. "Of course, queen Libra."
"Perfect." Libra pulled Gem in through the castle doors.
"Queen Libra?" Gem's jaw dropped.
Libra nodded. "I am close with Scorpio, so I had to come see her coronation." Libra paused and looked at Gem. "You look awfully familiar."
Gem shrugged. "I'm a model so you may have seen me on tv."
"That's probably it."
Gem had to hide her smirk. She was just too good at lying.
The inside of the castle was beautiful. The carpets were deep blue, the floors were white, and the walls looked like sand with sea shells embedded inside them. It really looked like a castle made for a water queen.
Gem tried to pull a sea shell off the wall, just for curiosity. It didn't move.
"So, why are you really here?" asked Libra as she pulled Gem down a hallway.
"I lost my invitation."
"You look like a clever girl."
"I'm not smarter than an average girl for my age."
"Mmmhmm. You can tell me, or maybe I can tell the guards that you were planning on sneaking in."
Gem sighed. "I just got here, in the country three days ago. I'm leaving again in another few days, so I decided to drop by and see the queen. It's rare to see a queen getting crowned, you know."
"Where are you going?"
"Since I'm a model, my boss wants me to get a few shots here. We're doing a project, and they need pictures of me, and a few other exclusively selected models to get a few pictures in the most beautiful locations of all the continents."
Libra smiled. "You should of let the staff here know you were coming. They would of given you a special invitation since you're a model."
"It slipped my mind. I'm the worst for thinking ahead."
"Here we are." Libra walked in through two large doors.
The ballroom was a very large room with what looked like hundreds of people. The walls were white, except for one wall that was made entirely out of glass. The floor was polished and shiny.
Various paintings, statues, chandeliers and various other thinks like chocolate fountains decorated the place.
"Do you have someone to be with, or do you want me to stick with you?" asked Libra.
"I'm fine on my own. You probably have more important people to chat with."
"Alright." Libra started walking away before she spun around. "Wait, I didn't catch your name."
"Gina Mendez," replied Gem.
Libra nodded. "Well Gina, I hope we get to meet again." Then she walked away.
Gem walked over to the desserts tables.
Gem didn't entire know why she came. Perhaps she thought she could meet Queen Scorpio and learn a bit about her brother.
If Queen Libra is here, maybe other queens or kings are too. My brother should be king by now.
Maybe he's here!
Gem scanned her surroundings but she could not see anyone that looked like her. Not a single person had her white hair.
Maybe he doesn't look like me. But then how am I going to find him?
"You look confused."
Gem turned around. Queen Scorpio was standing behind her.
Gem bowed. "I'm just looked for someone."
Scorpio smirked. "I chose who got invited, so tell me who you're looking for and I'll tell you if they're on the list."
This was her chance. Gem could tell Scorpio who she was and maybe she'd help her find her brother.
But Gem didn't want to reveal who she was yet, so she simply said, "i'm looking for king Gemini. I'm his friend."
Scorpio grabbed a piece of salted caramel off the desserts table. "I invited him. The asshole probably didn't show up." She plopped the candy in her mouth.
"Asshole?" Gem wished she stayed quiet, but Scorpio didn't seem to notice the surprise in Gem's tone. Either that or she didn't care.
"Yeah. He hasn't been to many coronation parties. He said he'll only show up if Capridumb shows up, but he's not here either."
"Capridumb?"
I call him that because I threw a party a while ago, before Aries' coronation. He got drunk and ran around holding my Cheeto above his head. The he tripped and dropped my precious Cheeto and I'm still mad at him."
"... you're mad over a cheeto?"
Scorpio laughed. "OH! I forgot to mention that Cheeto is my cat."
Gem also laughed. "Now that makes sense. By the way, when and where is the next coronation?"
Scorpio smiled. "The next coronation is for Queen Sagittarius. She's not here either, thank god."
So brother dearest is friends with Capricorn. Interesting.
"And after that, it will be Capricorn's coronation?" asked Gem.
Scorpio nodded and picked a piece of peppermint brownie off the desserts table. "Your friend Gemini should be there."
"How do you know I'm not an assassin? You possibly just told me where by target will be."
Sometimes Gem was a very clever girl. Other times, she spoke without thinking.
Scorpio laughed. "You're not an assassin. Trust me, I've learned how to tell them apart from regular people."
"How?"
"Rule number one, assassins always try to locate all the possible exits as soon as they enter a room. I watched you walk in with Libra, you didn't look like you were plotting an escape."
"But maybe I'll snap and become one in two days."
Scorpio shook her head. "I have more ways to tell, but I know for sure that you're innocent so far."
"Scorpio! Uh... there's a problem!" A short guy with blue hair tugged on Scorpio's sleeve eagerly.
"What?" asked Scorpio.
"That!" He pointed to three girls.
The first two had red hair, one of them had curly hair, the other's hair was straight, and the third girl had blonde hair.
They were shooting confetti out of confetti guns.
Scorpio gasped. "This is terrible."
"Yes. They're making a mess-"
"That they didn't ask if I wanted a confetti gun." Scorpio ran over to the fire signs. "You guys said you weren't coming! As your queen I demand that I get a confetti gun!"
Gem looked at the guy.
He sighed. "I should of known she'd react like that." Then he walked away.
After a while, Gem's feet hurt,
So she decided to go home.

Later that night, Gem did some research to see when Capricorn's coronation would be. She wrote down the date and started making plans to be in Capra two days before the coronation.
I'll find you brother, I promise!
