3|| New Years

"Cleo!" Tahlia called out as she walked through the hallways, "Gosh dammit. Cleo! Where are you?"

It was December 31st at night, and the residents of House 6 have decided to spend New Years with the neighbourhood. Tahlia was already dressed in a formal knee-length, off-shoulder black dress with matching black heels, silver jewellery and her hair tied into a high formal bun. The girl passed Vivian who was in a formal knee-length teal dress. Vivian was busily re-checking the house for the fifth time for any errors in decorations.

"Hey Viv, have you seen Cleo?" Tahlia asked her housemate.

"Have you checked her room?" Vivian suggested.

"No, I haven't. Thanks, Vivs." Tahlia replied as she made her way to Cleo's room.

By the time she got there, she noticed the door was slightly open, like always. Tahlia sighed and opened the door, and to her horror, she saw...

"CLEO! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"

There, lying on the bed was indeed Cleo, still in her pyjamas and playing a video game on her tablet. The girl noticed Tahlia looking aghast for some apparent reason, so the younger female waved, "Uh.... hi Tahlia. How are you?"

"I'm doing fine," Tahlia replied, walking over to Cleo and sitting down on the edge of the bed, "But Cleo, the others are going to be here and you are still in your pyjamas."

Cleo groaned and turned off her tablet, "Can I skip the party for today and hang out in my room?"

"No Cleo, you need to get ready," Tahlia replied, standing up and walking to Cleo's closet. She opened the doors and searched around for Cleo's outfit, "Where is that nice pretty blue dress Vivian bought you?"

Cleo sighed and eventually showed Tahlia where the dress is. A few minutes later Cleo was already in her blue dress and is having her hair done by Tahlia at the vanity.

"I want to stay in my room."

"Everyone is going to love you in this outfit." Tahlia smiled as she brushed Cleo's soft brown hair, "Especially your best friend Sam."

Cleo frowned and instead stared at the mirror, "I don't want to see Vivian again for New Year."

"Why?"

"She always ruins it."

Tahlia sighed and put the hairbrush on the vanity counter. She got out the hairspray. "Explain."

"Don't you remember the last new years,  after we screamed Happy New Year?" Cleo pointed out, covering her mouth with her hand.

"Oh..."

-FLASHBACK TO LAST NEW YEAR-

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!" everyone (but Carol, Sabrina and Phoebe cause they aren't there) screamed as the fireworks went off.

"IT'S THE NEW YEAR!!!!!" Cleo cheered, jumping up and down in excitement.

"And what better way to start it by rules." Vivian smiled as she pulled out a scroll and opened it.

The scroll ended up touching the floor. Everyone else groaned at the sight.

"Come on Vivi, can't you cut down the rules?" Arlen asked.

"Nope. I don't want any stupidity happening for this year compared to the last few years which I made rules for which you guys never obeyed. You must follow these rules." Vivian pointed out. She cleared her throat, "Rule Number One: No setting things on fire. Rule Number Two: No sweets after dinner. Rule Number Three: No climbing on the rooftops-"

-Present time-

"I guess you got a fair point on that.." Tahlia sighed as she admired Cleo's hair and moved on to the silver jewellery, "But I begged Vivian to stop with the rules and let everyone have fun."

"Let's hope she agrees," Cleo replied, as she admired the silver jewellery Tahlia got her. Cleo then put on the heels and admired them, "I look like a princess...."

"Indeed you are Princess Cleo!" Tahlia smiled.

Cleo smirked. She liked hearing that.

Just then the doorbell rang. Tahlia and Cleo exchanged glances.

"Ready to meet the others?" Tahlia asked the younger female, linking an arm with her.

"You bet!"

Vivian smiled as she admired the party. She also admired the outfits everyone else is wearing. The guys were all decked out in suits, while the females either wore dresses, skirts with tops or tops with jeans.

She noticed Tahlia arriving at the party and joining her.

"I'd say we did a good job on the party, considering this is the first time WE decided to host it," Vivian whispered to Tahlia.

"Let's hope everyone enjoys it like they did at Lizzy's." Tahlia whispered back, "Hey Cleo, I think I see Sam and he's coming over."

Sam waved. He then stopped, "Wow. You look-"

"Let me guess-" Cleo interrupted, "A clown?"

"No!" Sam replied. He then smiled, "You look fantastic. I didn't actually believe it was you when I took a glimpse! Now ready to hoard the food and annoy Cameron?"

"You bet!' Cleo giggled as she and Sam ran over to Cameron to bother him. Vivian watched Cameron suffer, with a smile on her face. Tahlia noticed.

"You are not going to stop them and save his life?" the female Taurus asked.

"No, he deserved it after pushing me into a pool." Vivian giggled.

Tahlia joined in with the giggling. She then waved at Carol, Sabrina and Phoebe, who were walking over to them.

"Hey, you three! Glad you can come!" Vivian smiled.

"Hey, Vivian. Tahlia. Thanks for inviting us over here." Phoebe smiled at the two.

"No problem, after all, we are all friends here." Tahlia smiled at the three girls.

"The party looks stunning. I mean Sienna being the DJ, the outfits, Gilbert bringing the sparklers-" Carol gushed.

"Oh no," Sabrina muttered with a smile.

"Oh really?" Carol asked her friend with a smirk, "How come I caught you mumbling 'Gilbert Gilbert' in your sleep."

Sabrina blushed bright red and pouted. She crossed her arms, "I was saying 'Gills on Bert!'"

"What-." Tahlia began.

"Mhm....totally." Carol snickered. She then turned to Tahlia and Vivian, "Anyways, amazing party. I am thrilled to see what happens next."

"HEY GUYS! IT'S ALMOST 10  SECONDS TILL 2019!!!" Leo called out.

"LEO'S RIGHT! LET'S DO THE COUNTDOWN!" Vincent called out.

The group got together in one group and they began counting down:

"10!"

"9!"

"8!"

"7!"

"6!"

"5!"

"4!"

"3!"

"2!"

"1!"

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!" everyone cheered as the fireworks went off.

"IT'S THE NEW YEAR!" Giselle cheered.

"Let's hope Vivian doesn't introduce more rules." Alyssa pointed out.

Everyone immediately looked at Vivian, who shook her head

"No strict rules other than 'don't set things on fire'-" Vivian smiled. She then looked away, "But I may have had a tiny list."

Everyone started cheering......well except for Alyssa.

"Dammit, I liked the fire thing..." Alyssa pouted.

"Now that the new year has started. Let's do the sparklers and then chill out inside the house!" Lily suggested.

Everyone cheered again. It was already a great start.

(Soon- Inside the house)

Soon the 24 members of the gang were in House 6's living room watching a movie while eating and chatting to each other. The group was already pumped up due to their excitement with the fireworks (Alyssa was better since she gets to play with the sparklers).

But there was one thing Carol noticed.... something was missing.

"I can't believe 2019 is already here." Aika smiled.

"Let's hope it is better than the previous year." Levin chuckled.

"Well, mine already went off at a bad start..." Sabrina mumbled.

"Is that a truth or a lie?' Carol asked her friend.

There was a grunt back. Carol chuckled and looked at her new friends, "This year was a great start, but we are missing something in here."

"Oh no." Vivian frowned.

"Wait... we did?" Giselle asked, "We have music, food, fireworks..."

"And everyone is here." Pete pointed out.

"That's true..." Carol smiled, "But we are missing out a traditional thing..."

Everyone else fell silent. Carol sighed.

"New Year Resolutions?"

"Is that even necessary?" someone called out. Everyone turned to where the voice came from which was Colin, "What?"

"Aren't they those promises people make for the new year," Sabrina replied.

"Yes, and I really want us to have a go." Carol nodded.

"I've done it in my childhood years." Skyler added, "I need to revisit that memory lane."

"Ok, how about this, we all admit our resolutions to each other. I'll start and we go in our zodiac order until we get to Gilbert." Carol suggested.

"I feel the love." Gilbert laughed.

"Ok, I'll start!" Carol smiled, "I hope to improve my friendships here."

"OK! I hope to not get scowled at by Skyler." Colin laughed.

"I am hoping to improve my performing arts skills," Lily admitted.

"I am hoping to begin to dance." Leo sighed.

"I am hoping to get over the fact we have fewer rules." Vivian frowned.

"I am hoping to finally beat Cameron at chess." Vincent shrugged.

"I am hoping to be accepted," Lizzy admitted with a sad smile.

"What does that mean?" Carol asked.

Lizzy simply shrugged back.

"For me, I hope to overcome my shyness." Levin smiled.

"I hope to get a good pay in work," Sabrina mumbled.

"I hope Colin and Pete are going to behave," Skyler mumbled.

"That's never going to happen bro-" Pete laughed.

"I hope to reach out to pop songs in other countries." Sienna giggled.

"I hope I can finally find someone to understand my feelings," Sam added.

"I hope to have new adventures!" Cleo cheered

"I hope I can finally beat Vincent at checkers." Cameron smiled.

"I am questioning Vincent and your resolutions. What the heck you two." Sabrina laughed.

"I hope I get accepted for being weird," Aika admitted.

"And I hope to get more inspired," Arlen added.

"I hope things go well." Phoebe gushed.

"And I hope Skyler doesn't interfere the fun." Pete laughed.

"PETE-"

"I hope I can have things done MY way." Alyssa bragged.

"And I hope people accept me..." Alex mumbled.

"Again- what is that supposed to mean?" Carol asked. Alex shrugged back.

"I hope to finally have one of my films accepted in the film competitions." Tahlia smiled.

"And I hope to get a girlfriend." Tyler smiled.

"That's a resolution....ok..." Carol mumbled.

"I hope to finally get a job I can't get fired at." Giselle smiled.

"Some of your resolutions concern me.." Sabrina frowned.

"And I hope I can get my princess and love her." Gilbert finished.

"Quick answer: no," Sabrina mumbled, looking away.

"IS SABRINA BLUSHING???" Phoebe asked.

"NO!" Sabrina yelled, "I was just red in anger."

"Hmmmmmmm ok then..."

Then the group started talking loudly again. Carol took a deep breath and looked outside.

'2019..... what have you got in store for us?' (Hi I'm from the future- it is an eventful year)
