The Ceremony

     Aries' pov

'"WeLcomE to ThE CHaoS Flat". By Aries, Gem, Pisces, Cancer, Virgo, Aquarius and Cap. P.s.: Leo is stupid. Welcoming, right?'

'Don't leave out the part I wrote next to it!' Leo said with narrowed eyes, and I sighed. 'Fine; p.p.s.: Leo is not, Aries is a bitch. Can we move on now?'

'Yeah, just get it down already,' Capricorn said and yawned loudly, earning a glance from his sister. 'You really don't have any idea what etiquettes are, do you?' she asked him with an irritated tone. 'Eti-what? No, I don't,' Cap responded and leaned further back against the wall, earning a scowl from Aquarius.

I chuckled at it and turned over to where the others were standing. 'C'mon, Gem, give me a hand here.' 'Yay! I can help!' my sister cheered, and ran over to the small field of grass and got back with one of our old chairs. She held it while I stepped on it and tried to grab the plate above the big red door, but my height made me fail horribly as I needed to be at least three inches taller to be able to grab the plate.

'Need some help?' Gemini asked me, but I stubbornly shook my head. 'Just hold the chair, alright?' 'Maybe I should get it down, because it doesn't seem we'll actually have a Ceremony like this,' Leo said and already walked up to me, but I laughed scornful as I tried to turn around on the chair.

'Oh, not in a million lifetimes. You won't put one of your dirty hands on my plate.' 'Dirty? Please; I had a manicure this same week!' the tall girl protested and now tried to push Gemini aside. 'Move, I'll get that thing and then we can start.'

'You – will – not –' I growled, but Leo managed to push Gem to the side and if I didn't jump of the chair, I would've been Aries-smush on the ground. Furface looked down on me with the same scornful expression I just worn and with a single reach, she took the plate from its position above the door. Instead of letting her be in her pride as she would walk back with a grin on her stupid face, I kicked her leg and caught the plate when she dropped it in fright.

'Thank you,' I said to her, but my glance gave away my words were meant to come over as a painful "drop dead". She huffed and followed me and Gem back to the others, who were now all sitting and standing around the large tree next to the flat, except for Sagittarius who was, under some protests from his brothers, sitting in the tree.

'Alright, attention geeks!' Gemini yelled, but nobody listened and things only got quiet when she shouted: 'Shut it or I'll make Aries wreck your places!' She looked at me and I nodded to her, to which she turned around and sat down next to Sag, who came down and now sat on the ground.

'Okay,' I said with a raised voice, 'now, I know you all expect me to give a deep and emotional speech, but the hell with that. If you want deep and emotional, you should've put Virgo up here.' The group laughed and cheered, and I grinned when Virgo stood up and walked towards me, a slightly amusing look in his eyes. He coughed softly and faced the others.

'It's been long,' he said, 'since we've had our last Ceremony. I don't know how many are going to come after this one – perhaps no more – but every new person here changes a bit of our lives. Just as we will change parts of your life. Because, even though our time together may not be as long as with others, it is certain that we –'

'Yada, yada, can we hurry this up? I'm getting hungry!' Capricorn yelled, and the group and I chuckled at Virgo's interrupted expression.

'Thank you for interrupting me at such a subtle level, Capricorn. Do you have anything peculiar to add?' he asked him with his easy, Virgo-type of calm. Cap smirked widely and jumped up to continue what me and Virgo had started.

'Well, let's see. I suppose I should say something useful too, hm? Alright, I'm going to bless you now with the only helpful think I know.' He put on a serious face, as if he was going to start a speech about him running for president. Of course, knowing Cap, it wasn't anything like that.

'If you ever have a burning feeling when you pee, just –'

'Oh, you are literally the worst!' Aquarius hissed and pulled him down again, only to stand up herself. I laughed along with the group while she waited for everyone to stop congratulating and high-fiving her brother before she started talking herself. 'As Virgo nicely pointed out, every new people here change our lives. But we've also changed each other's lives.' Something sparkled in her eyes, and even though I was standing a bit away from her, I think I could notice a shade of red appearing on her cheeks. Did that just happen while she was looking at Libra?

Aquarius went on, without noticing my confusion. 'I certainly wouldn't have been the same if I hadn't met you guys. The girls around here, of course, but also you, Virgo, and – *sigh* – yes, Capricorn, we all know you've had a huge impact on our lives here.'

I blinked and only then noticed a proudly grinning Cap, who had been poking his sister's leg until she mentioned him. Aqua blushed again before she sat down. I hadn't lost my thoughts yet, so even when Furface stood up to talk on about it, I kept my eyes set on Aquarius.

And indeed, right after her best friend started talking, Aquarius looked at the ground and I saw her eyes moving to somewhere behind her. Or should I say, someone; because Libra soon caught her gaze and smiled back at her. My eyes narrowed a tad more before I decided to let this rest for a moment. I'd find out what was going on after the Ceremony.

'...and that's only one reason why I'm so excited for our new neighbors!' Furface said with a giggle in her voice. 'The second reason is a bit more comprehensive, but I'm sure you will all listen with –'

'Alright, let's just start, okay?' Gemini shouted, followed by approving yells from the others.

Virgo looked back at me again, and I grinned widely as I cleared my throat and said in my best formal voice: 'Okay – Sagittarius, step forward, please.'

Sag stood up and all the mutters died down. He walked up to me and Virgo, looking especially curious – the best quality a Chaos Survivor can have. I held up the plate, while Virgo handed him a marker. Sag turned back to me and waited for me to say something. And so I did, after a big smirk as I looked up at him. 'Now, you must first promise to never be afraid of the unexpected, and to break all the possible rules we've made for this flat. And that, no matter your height, you will always be a part of the Chaos Flat and with that, a true Chaos Survivor.'

Sag blinked. 'Could you repeat that? I think I missed out on one or two sentences.' The group laughed again, as I repeated the sentence and this time, he blinked with a grin. 'Alright, I promise I'll never be afraid of the unexpected and I will break every possible rule you guys made up. And, no matter my height, I will always be a part of the Chaos Flat and a true Chaos Survivor,' he said.

'Then you may now write your name on this thing – clearly,' I warned him, and while everyone else chuckled, he stepped forward and wrote "Sag" in the empty space next to where Capricorn had ended. Everyone cheered and clapped loudly, though I did see Libra looking a bit sad, perhaps even slightly angered, but I quickly forgot when Virgo nudged my arm.

'Oh, right – Taurus, step forward, please.' Things calmed down for a bit again, as Sag turned around to hand the marker over to his older brother. Taurus already was a tad taller than Sag – I think he was about 6 ft. and Sag around 5 ft. and 8 inches – so he really was a giant compared to me. I first noticed nothing but pride and enthusiasm in his expression, but to my reassurance that soon turned into the same I'd seen with his brother; curiosity.

'Alright, Taurus, do you promise to never be afraid of the unexpected, and to break all the possible rules we've made for this flat – and that, no matter your very tall height, you will always be a part of the Chaos Flat and a true Chaos Survivor?'

'Promised,' he stated with a smirk and after I said he could now write his name on the plate in clear letters, I held up the plate for Taurus and he wrote down "Taurus" next to his brother's name.

More cheering, louder this time. Cap whistled and everyone stood up, clapping loudly for the two brothers as I turned the plate around and smiled.

WeLcomE to ThE CHaoS Flat; by Aries, Gem, Pisces, Cancer, Virgo, Aquarius and Cap, Sag and Taurus. And not to leave out the p.s.: Leo is stupid.

Could this be more welcoming?

     Aquarius' pov

I was one of the people who didn't clap along with the group. I was confused; and as I turned around I saw Libra wasn't clapping or cheering either. Ignoring Leo's calls to go party shopping, I walked past her and some others to get to Libra and frowned, in order to get my answers, but I already knew as soon as I asked. 'But... I thought this was to all three of you...?'

'Then you thought wrong,' said Libra. His voice was covered with a slightly noticeable kind of jealousy, but I didn't lose him when he started walked around the big group of others, who only had eye for the new Survivors. I saw Capricorn, Sagittarius and Gemini trying to climb the tree again, as Taurus, Virgo, Pisces and Cancer were talking about something I didn't hear. It seemed Leo was busy with arguing with Aries, so I snuck after Libra to the red door and followed him through it. Last thing I noticed from outside was that Aries was now looking at me, instead of Leo. But I actually didn't mind.

'Libra, where are you going? Why aren't you one of the Survivors?' I asked, and looked around the hall to find him. The stairs left some echoing sounds, so I ran up to them and started jumping upstairs, until I caught up with him on the top floor. He stopped when I was walking next to him, and looked at me with an almost hurt expression.

'I didn't want to believe Aries when she told me about the chaos here. I didn't want to believe Virgo when he told me the same. Same for Leo, and even my own brothers, and just when I decided I wanted to keep this chaos from happening, I caused it myself and fainted right afterwards. I don't know if you noticed, but I'm a wimp, and everyone around found out. That's why I'm not a Chaos Survivor.'

I stared at him for a second, a few seconds, until he walked into the hallway and I quickly walked after him. 'But that doesn't answers my first question. Where are you going?'

'Back to my apartment,' Libra said, and he indeed stopped in front of apartment 26. 'Apparently, there's gonna be a party. I don't think I'd want to be a part of that.' 'But –' I started, but he cut me off right away: 'I'm sorry, Aquarius, but we only know each other for less than one day. Right now, you cannot prove otherwise. Just come back when you can.'

'Well, fine!' I yelled as he closed the door. Alright, he was right about this all, but I would prove he wasn't a wimp. Actually, I had to prove, because wimps would never be able to survive this place. With a last glance at the door Libra just closed right in front of me, I turned around and slowly moved back downstairs.

     Leo's pov

'No, Dwarf, we are not going to have the Ceremony party outside again! Remember how that went last time?' I snarled back when Aries threw in another lame option. She smirked, responding: 'Yes, I remember very well. And actually, I wouldn't mind if that bird pooped on your head another time.'

My cheeks already lit up, but she was the one who told me to silence down and she turned to the red door. As I turned with her, hoping this wasn't some sort of weird joke thing, I forgot about our argument and I ran up to Aqua.

'Aqua, dear, there you are. You have to help me; is tonight's party starting outside or in someone's apartment?' She looked up, rather confused, and to my surprise – and hers too, probably – Aries walked up to her and pulled her away by her arm. I could just catch her "inside!" before she and Aries disappeared through the door that lead to the basement.

I laughed positively and turned to the tree, where everyone else was seated. 'Alright, guys! Who's coming along with me and Cancer to her store, buying food?' I yelled, and I think there was nobody who said no. Cancer walked up to me with a big smile on her face.

'Wow, I'm glad I skipped work this morning! I really wouldn't want to miss this. But, I can't tag along on your trip to the Rustic Store. I told my boss I was ill, would be a bit weird if I appeared all of a sudden, hm? Ah, come on, it's not that bad without me,' she laughed when I started pouting.

'But you know where they keep all the chocolate!' Gemini whined from behind us, who'd apparently had been listening. 'Yeah, now we have to wander around for hours again, because no one can ever find anything and we always lose each other,' Cap added, and Cancer laughed again. 'The store isn't even that big!' she said, but it immediately got lots of protests and she shook her head.

'Fine, I'll put on my hoodie and no one there will recognize me, alright? Wait up then, I'll be right back. No, don't leave without me!' she shouted at Cap and Gem, who wanted to sneak into the street already.

I smiled as I watched Cancer trying to chase them, and I turned to the door through which my best friend and Aries had just disappeared. But the moment I wanted to walk up to it, they came out again, Aries looking a bit grumpy and in her thoughts, but Aquarius the opposite. She had an innocent look on her face, and the moment I walked up to her and asked what was going on, she told me it was nothing.

But the moment I shrugged it off and wanted to walk to the others, I saw her looking over her shoulder, up to the apartments on the top floor.
