Sagittarius' pov
'Look, guys,' Aries yelled over our loud talking in the room, 'if we want to do something about this, you've got to be silent!'
'Maybe we would be if the plans to break our home down weren't right in front of us,' Gem stated, referring to the ruffled papers on the table in the middle of the room.
From the moment Aries, Leo and Aquarius came back from their trip to Scorpio's apartment, everyone had been all over the place. It took about two hours before everybody had properly looked through the things, and after that, we had to discuss everything with each other. Everything.
And of course, it managed to turn into a big Chaos. Well, almost.
'Alright, maybe Aries is right,' Cap screamed through the room, and as if it was magic, everyone got silent. 'Maybe we should indeed think of a plan instead of screeching like wild animals.'
'And how do you suggest we do this? All we have are some papers,' Leo protested, at which Capricorn snorted. 'Why, I'm sorry my brain is larger than yours, Furface, but I happen to know just what to do. We only have to burn these things to ashes, meaning Scorpio won't have them, meaning nobody can break this place down, meaning we're good. Agreed?'
'I am very sorry to pop your bubble, Cap,' Virgo stated, 'but if these are indeed the finalized plans of the destruction of our flat, then I'm fairly sure these are only copies of the originals.'
From the following silence, I could make up that no one had thought about what Virgo said yet. And yeah, it was true, it hadn't occurred to me either that these weren't the real plans. It just all seemed so simple when Aries, Leo and Aqua bursted into the apartment, yelling they had the papers and stuff.
My thoughts were abruptly interrupted when Aquarius started talking. 'Alright, so these aren't the real plans. What now?' 'I suggest we take this to smaller steps,' Virgo explained, getting Aries to sigh in frustration. 'We already have steps. This was Step two, which didn't really go that well, and I'm pretty sure Step three won't go that great either.'
'That's not exactly what I meant,' Virgo said, and he stood up, gaining everyone's full attention. 'I meant that we can handle this situation by making it smaller. As an example, one part of the whole plan is that someone has to make sure Scorpio doesn't leave this building while we're going out to get our hands on the real plans.'
'Hey, that rhymes!' Gemini called, and I noticed Aries frowning from the couch. 'So the plans aren't here? Where are they, then?' she asked, and Virgo smiled. 'If Scorpio's father really is the mayor, they must be in a place where he can keep them safely, a place where he could get them easily.'
'The town hall,' I thought out loud, at which my roommate nodded. 'Indeed. This means we'll have to split up in groups; one group will stay here and makes sure Scorpio won't notice a thing, while the other group comes with me to the town hall.'
'Wait, hang in there,' Cancer interrupted the speech, looking a mix between slightly confused and terrified. 'You are actually planning on stealing something from the higher authorities?'
'Well, someone just turned from Mister Helpful to Mister Daredevil,' Aries smirked when Virgo nodded yet again, and continued: 'This idea definitely speaks to my soul. Count me in on the group who's infiltrating the community home.'
'Same here!' Taurus grinned from somewhere next to me. 'Yes, me too!' Leo stated, but Aquarius next to her shook her head. 'Nuh-uh. I'll stay here with Cancer, right C?' I noticed Cancer gladly nodding over to her, while Capricorn sighed and grinned widely. 'All your decision, Q, but I'm going with them!' And so, I couldn't stay behind and I happily exclaimed I'd be going too.
'Yes, yes! I wanna go too!' Gem yelled, but she was put down by her sister – I assume you can guess which one – 'Oh no, definitely not. You'll somehow manage to ruin this whole thing, so you're staying here.'
'Where she can tell Scorpio exactly what our intentions are?' Virgo responded to that out of nowhere. 'No, I think it's better if Gemini comes with us. She is a great addition to the group and like that, we can keep an eye on her.'
Everybody was silently agreeing with him – with Gem as an exception, as she was literally jumping up and down, filled with joy and exclaiming how much fun this would be – until Aqua started talking. 'Alright, so you guys are going to the town hall, meaning Cancer, Pisces and I will stay behind. If Scorpio comes out, we will just sacrifice ourselves and make sure he doesn't go anywhere, right?'
'Sounds fun,' Pisces whispered from her spot next to Cancer, who slowly nodded and continued. 'Okay, so as it seems that we're really doing this, I have a few questions about it, such as: how do you know where the files we need are?'
'My mother used to work over there as one of the admins,' Virgo said. 'There's a whole organized system of different kinds of files, left completely unattended; it shouldn't be too much work.'
'Alright,' Cancer went on, and I noticed how the room had gotten more silent than before. About a minute or two earlier, everyone had been softly whispering things to each other, discussing small things with one another, but now, it was almost deadly quiet. Everybody had thought about Cancer's questions, and everybody wanted to know Virgo's answers to them.
'How are you going to get in?' she asked, 'I mean, it shouldn't be too hard to just walk through the door, but when seven teens go straight for the file section...'
'Diversion,' Virgo answered, and a small smile appeared on his lips. 'That's another reason why we're bringing Gemstone.'
Another silence occurred – a silence in which Pisces and Aries were softly laughing over Gemini's struggle to be either mad at Virgo for calling her Gemstone, or to let him be the next person who could call her that. It was pretty amusing, until Cancer asked her last question.
'Last one; what are we going to do when you all get back with the original plans?'
At first notice, it seemed no one had an answer to that question, especially when Virgo didn't respond right away. I already started to think about what we could do with the whole situation, but luckily, Virgo had answers to everything.
'We confront Scorpio with it,' he stated, 'and after that, his father. Let's just hope he's a reasonable an, and nothing like his son.'
'Agreed!' Aries shouted, but Virgo wasn't done yet. 'One more thing. After we've set specific plans to this, settled the whole thing, and eventually saved this place, Scorpio will move out. A couple of weeks from now, but still.' He gazed around the room, and once again, everyone was silenced down. Only this time, everyone had thought about this subject before.
'I think we can all agree he has to change in his ways of behaving. It doesn't matter that he's moving out in the near future, it matters that someone will have to learn him that manipulation is never an acceptable use.'
'Shall I go and talk to him? He trusts me,' Leo asked from her side of the room, but her offer was declined right away. 'He doesn't trust you, Leo. He pretends to so that he can use you in his game of life,' Virgo said, frowning slightly during his words. 'The person he needs should be someone who's resistant, someone who can pull him through his strange imaginations. Someone who can see past the Scorpio we know now, and who can discover his real emotions.'
The following two-second silence was almost unbearable, a silence in which everyone in the room was looking at each other and wondering who this person could be. We quickly found out when Virgo looked over at someone sitting somewhere close to me. And yet again, we all agreed with him.
'It's you, Cancer.'
Cancer's pov
I had never wanted to laugh more at something Virgo said. Which was a rare situation, as Virgo's words were mostly either serious, or very true.
And yet, he seemed pretty serious right now.
Virgo said I had to change Scorpio; meaning I had to go out and talk to him again – something I really, really didn't feel like doing. I'd sworn myself I never wanted to see that boy again, and that was a promise I intended to keep.
I only realized I hadn't said anything in about a whole minute, when people softly started chitchatting again, and I was left staring at Virgo as if he had gone insane, that is, until Pisces nudged my shoulder and I finally stood up.
After looking around the room and noticing no one was paying attention to me anymore, my gaze moved back to the boy who had suggested me to talk to the devil. 'Can I talk to you for a second? In the hallway?' I silently asked; or actually, all I was doing was mouthing the words and gesturing towards the hall with a bop of my head, but Virgo seemed to understand and followed me until I closed the front door of Aquarius' apartment.
'Have you gone mad?' I stated, at which he sighed and held his hands in front of him as a defense. 'Look, Cancer...'
'No, I'm not going to look, and if I were going to look at something it would be at a sign saying "I'm not doing this"! Because I'm... well... not doing this, if that wasn't clear yet,' I managed to get out. Man, I really was bad at shouting at people.
Virgo waited patiently for another second, before he started talking again. 'Cancer, I know you don't want this, but you're the only person in this place who is fitting enough to do this. And, not only that, but I actually think you can get Scorpio to accept help.'
I frowned slightly. 'Alright, first things first – I'm the only fitting person? What about Miss "Oh-My-Hair-Is-So-Perfect-And-Did-I-mention-I-hate-Aries"?' Virgo's forehead turned into a frown as well, right before he seemed to get me. 'Cancer, when referring to Leo as a negative person, you can just use the name Furface,' he said. 'It won't make you any less neutral if no one but me hears it.'
I couldn't help but sigh to myself and clench my head with my hand, trying to keep the conversation to just this one subject. 'Yes, fine. But, really though – I am definitely not the only one around who could deal with Scorpio's things.'
'That's where you're right,' Virgo said, getting me to frown yet again. 'I'm quite sure you wouldn't be the only one who could deal with him. But we're not talking about dealing, we're talking about helping.' He started leaning against the railing with his hands still in the pockets of his jacket, while I tried to let the two different concepts sink in.
'Oh... dealing with someone is just putting up with them,' I explained to myself, as Virgo nodded. 'Helping someone...' '...is a whole lot different from that,' Virgo finished. 'And when you look at it that way, you're really the only one who could help Scorpio.'
'What about Furface?' I asked. I realized I'd started calling Leo "Furface" more often, not really because I was on Aries' side but... because of how I didn't really like her myself. Well, things like that happen in life.
'Leo is too much of a victim for him,' Virgo explained, snapping me out of my mind. 'He can flatter her with just a couple of words, and she won't even notice how he's using her against us.'
I nodded slowly and unfolded my arms, and as they hit the wall behind me I suggested my next option: 'How about Aquarius? She's kind of just like me, can't she do this?' 'She's Leo's best friend,' Virgo stated, and my courage already sank, 'so that would give Scorpio the power to get not only her, but also Leo in his will to turn against the others.'
'Alright...' I muttered, but in my thoughts, things weren't alright. I was running out of people to throw in, and even though I might have been able to talk my way out of this if it was against any other; this was against Virgo. I could never talk my way out against Virgo.
Unless...
'And how about your new student? Sagittarius?' I asked, and somehow, Virgo didn't argue with it. Which gave me the opportunity to throw in some more arguments. 'He's clever, witty, and I'm pretty sure you've taught him a couple of handy stuff already,' I stated. 'And besides, he's totally new here.'
'Exactly,' Virgo fell in, and I realized I'd gotten too far. 'He's new here. He should spend some more time here before I can let him handle things on his own.'
To my surprise, he sighed deeply and rubbed his hands over his eyes before looking back at me, and surprisingly, it actually looked like he had no choice. 'Cancer, please. I wish I could take this over, but thanks to my stupid mistake some time ago, I can't. If we don't do anything about Scorpio, who knows what things might happen in the future, and you nor I want that to happen. Believe me, I know how hard it is to pull yourself through this, but I know you can do this and I know –'
'Okay, fine,' I heard myself sigh, at which Virgo's eyes immediately lit up. 'I'll give it a try. But, if it doesn't work out...' 'Then at least you've tried,' he stated and smiled brightly. 'Thank you, Cancer.'
'I wish I could say "no problem", but I'm sure that's not the case,' I chuckled softly, and all of a sudden, as if it was a sign, the door behind me opened, causing me to jump away with a startled look. Aries popped up from the opening, giving us both an annoyed look.
'Furface decided it was a good idea to share her taste in fashion with us,' she stated. 'I'm fairly sure the rest of the apartment should follow soon after me.'
She huffed, but recovered from her irritation and looked from one another with a curious glance in her eyes. 'Well? How is the whole "Scorpio-Problem" going?'
'Aha. So I'm a problem now.'
I really didn't know who of the three of us turned their gaze to the end of the hall faster – only to find a way too satisfied looking Scorpio standing there, in a way that could be referred to as Hannibal Lecter-like. Aries already opened her mouth to say something, but Scorpio was faster: 'Don't you worry. I'll be out of this place by tomorrow night – in fact, everyone living here will be out by tomorrow night. Because, guess what?'
We didn't even have to guess, and he didn't give us a chance to if we did: 'My father decided to fasten this project. Tomorrow, they'll start building new apartments here, after – of course – the destruction of this place.'
Something in his devilish blue eyes glistered with satisfaction. 'Time to say goodbye to the Chaos Flat.'
With those words, he turned around, walking off to the stairs as he left us with nothing more than a chuckle and a heartbreaking feeling in our stomachs. The silence was overwhelming, a punishing pain in which our thoughts were a complete mess. It stayed like this until Aries broke the quiet.
'Guys, put your alarm clock at six in the morning and be at my apartment at seven.'Her eyes flamed with an anger I'd never seen before.
'We're going to sabotage some shit.'
