A Chaotic Conspiracy part 2

     Leo's pov

I don't think any of us had thought this would be such a tiring mission. It took about an hour before we could even get in without being suspected, and after that, Virgo let us just sit in the hall, waiting, while he, Capricorn and The Dwa- I mean, Aries, went out to look for the files. Another hour later, they came back and told us to follow them.

The files were behind two locked doors, and because it was daytime, there wouldn't be any security, Virgo said. But, they were still locked. So, like that, the different parts and positions were decided, and I was glad to find that this time, I was the one who got to help.

'Alright, we're with eight,' Virgo started, and gazed around the group. 'Aries, Leo, Pisces and I will go in and look for the files. Taurus and Capricorn will stay as guards on the right side of this hall, Sagittarius and Gemini take the left side. Aries, I'm sure you can get this thing to open?'

'I'd be offended if you didn't ask,' Aries responded and immediately walked past us, pulling something out of her pocket as she started fiddling with the locks. 'Alright, so how long would it take for the four of us to find those papers?' I asked Virgo, who shrugged casually and turned back from Aries to me. 'It could take longer than we'd expect; I think there's a system where everything's categorized on letters, so if we just find the letter "R" from Rustic Street, we should be good. It could also be that we have to look for files of this town specifically, then we have to look for –'

'GUYS, WAIT!'

Virgo abruptly stopped his speech in the middle of his sentence, Pisces shrieked softly and duck away somewhere behind me, Aries stopped working on the locks and looked even a bit surprised when she turned around, and I had to say, I felt the same shock of surprise when Cancer suddenly ran around the corner and stopped in front of us, looking like the devil himself had chased her down the streets.

She leaned against the wall, panting heavily, as she looked around and tried to wipe the sweat drops from her forehead. 'I-Is S-Scorpio here a-already?' she choked out, at which Gem immediately started talking about everything we'd done in the past hours to keep us occupied. Halfway, Virgo cut her off and asked Cancer what was going, and after everyone was finally done talking and explaining, it was another ten minutes later.

'But if he's not here, then where could he have gone off too?' Cancer wondered out loud, while, in the meantime, Aries finally broke open the lock and we were all distracted again. 'Alright, take your positions,' Virgo stated, as he followed Aries, Pisces and me through the big brown doors.

We walked inside, to find a large, very large room with big shelves and tables standing everywhere. Papers were laying everywhere in eyesight, and I realized how long this would actually take.

'So, do we have a plan on looking for the different categories, or are we just going to look through some drawers and stuff?' I asked, and Virgo turned around from his spot next to a couple of tables and desks. 'Well, I was thinking about –'

A loud, interrupting noise from somewhere to our right told us that Miss Dwarf wasn't listening to Virgo's words, so I just sighed and did what she did: taking every single piece of paper and looking through it. This, however, didn't really work out for us – in fact, after what seemed like hours of searching (but were probably only minutes) we hadn't even figured out how everything in here was organized.

'No wonder my mother stopped working here,' Virgo muttered as he walked by, and carefully checked the different shelves. 'This whole thing would've made me gone crazy too.'

'Yeah, right,' Aries yelled over to us, and I noticed she was standing on one of the tables. 'You going crazy? Not in a million years, Vir-'

'Tiny Dwarf! Look at what you are doing!' I shouted in annoyance, at which she looked up to see my finger pointing towards her shoes. 'You are making this place even more of a mess! We'll get caught like that!' 'Sure, Furface,' she snarled back, jumping of the table and landing right in front of me. 'Of course I'm the one messing this up, not, I don't know, you, with your loud yelling and screaming. It's always me, isn't it?' 'For once, you are correct,' I stated, and narrowed my eyes at her. 'It indeed always is you who manages to screw things up.'

Aries already opened her mouth to yell something back at me, but right at that moment, the door bursted open and Gemini and Sagittarius sprinted inside. I barely payed attention to the Dwarf stomping past me and shouting at her sister what the hell was going on, when Virgo silenced everyone yet another time, and Gem started chatting away: 'Alright, so Sag and I were talking about Doritos and –'

'We saw Scorpio in the hallway!' Sag yelled right through her sentence, earning him a lot of frowns from – well, all of us.

'Hey! I wanted to tell them!' Gemini pouted, but Aries shook her head and turned away from her. 'Wait, are you sure you guys saw Scorpio? I mean, I think we had established that he wasn't here?' 'Well –' started Gem again, but the wooden doors smacked open again and the other three came walking in.

Everyone ignored Gemini's "Why am I always interrupted when I want to talk about nacho's!" and instead listened to a terrified sounding Cancer: 'H-He just walked by in our side of the hall! We could run over here just in time – at least, that's what I hope...'

'You see, Furface!' Aries screamed at me, 'He probably was attracted by your loud screeching!' 'I wasn't screeching, Tiny Dwarf!' I yelled back. All around us, the others started talking and yelling too, now – Gemini about how no one wanted to hear about her stories, Capricorn about how we just had to go back and kill Scorpio, Cancer about how this was all her fault – until the silence returned again through Virgo's voice; as always.

'Quiet down, everyone,' Virgo stated, as the last insults between Tiny Dwarf and me were exchanged, before everyone turned to him, ready for another solution from the wisest of us all. Virgo cleared his throat and sighed softly.

'Listen up –'

'Or perhaps you should listen to me for now, Virgo.'

I wasn't the only one turning around at a speed light would be jealous of, I knew that without having to look around. And I didn't even think of looking around anymore; I was too busy feeling shocked from Scorpio's sudden entrance in the room, while the brown doors behind him were still slightly moving. But, this time, it wasn't his triumphant smile we were paying attention to.

It was the man standing behind him who we all stared at, the man we all recognized as two persons: Scorpio's father, and the mayor.

     Capricorn's pov

Well, we got ourselves in a terrible situation again. And I could know, because terrible will definitely be my nickname when I die. Capricorn The Terrible. Awesome.

But, as always, my completely random and useless thoughts weren't going to change the situation one bit. It even seemed to get worse, when the expression on the mayor's face turned a kind of angry – that specific angry of which you knew it wasn't very good, but then again, was there even a kind of anger that was good?

I was snapped back to reality by Gemini, who probably noticed me staring into the nothing and knew I would only be able to focus on the current situation if I actually paid some attention to it. She gave me her "come-on-Cap-return-to-earth" look, which I knew too well, unfortunately, and after a short nod back to her, I turned my head towards Scorpio and his father, who had taken a step forward now.

'May I ask what on earth is going on here?' he asked, although it sounded more as if he demanded an answer, and it immediately came to my head that it was the same tone Scorpio spoke with half of the time. Of course, none of us moved, as we were all waiting for Virgo to react – which we didn't have to wait long for.

Virgo cleared his throat audibly, and stepped forwards. 'Sir, if I may –'

'Stop everything!'

'Jeez, how many more people are gonna burst into this place?' I muttered to myself, when the doors behind Scorpio and the mayor opened again, and, to probably everyone's surprise, Aqua and Libra stormed in. I was still on the subject of where Q could possibly have gotten the guts to come up here, when next to me Taurus and Sag were yelling things through each other's sentences, making it almost impossible to hear what they were actually saying.

'Lib, we didn't think you'd –'

'I mean, I don't even know for how long –'

'But you're still alive!'

'Can everybody be silent for a moment and answer my question?' the mayor shouted over all the noise, and everything silenced up again. But, before Virgo could even move, Libra had walked over to the mayor and handed him something that looked like... a diary?

The man stared at it for a moment, then frowned again and turned back to Libra. 'And what am I looking at right now?' he asked, or well, stated harshly.

Libra smiled.

'You are currently looking at the journal of your son, in which he describes his plan to lure everyone in our building into thinking the place was going to be destroyed, just so that they'd go over here, trying to safe their homes, and got caught because you and your son would "accidently" drop by.'

Well, the moments of quiet before definitely fell into nothing compared by the silence that had occurred as soon as he finished his sentence. Somewhere in my mind, one of my inner voices was screaming its non-existing lungs out, while another was quickly making up theories about how Libra could have possibly figured this out before Virgo had. Short summary: it was pretty much a mess, inside my head, until that mess got all blurry because Scorpio started talking. Or, well, snarling.

'How did you get that?' Scorpio hissed, and attempted to snatch it from his father's hands, but the man stepped aside and held up his hand, making his son step back again with his head to the ground. 'Excuse me, young man,' he said, this time his voice clear and curious. 'Could you explain what you just stated?'

Libra's smile faded and he nodded, while he turned around and Aqua was visible. 'My brothers and I live in the building you, your wife and your son have recently moved into. When this happened, I was unconscious, and I've been in that same state since that day, so all I can tell you is what my friend Aquarius told me.' Aqua waved slightly from behind Lib, as he frowned and continued: 'Your son, Scorpio, appeared to have made threats to almost everyone living in the flat, stating that that very same building would be broken down today. This lead to some commotion from the other residents of the building -' (Aries huffed softly and folded her arms) '– and they did everything they could to prevent this from happening, even though it wasn't true. A few of them snuck into your apartment, trying to look for the plans, where they found your son's journal, which explained everything he had said.'

Libra turned to us, looking at each one of us as if he was actually talking to us instead of the mayor, who was still listening without commenting. 'Naturally, they decided to go over here and find the plans, to destroy them and safe their building. But Scorpio knew this was going to happen and wanted to get them caught.' He stopped talking and gazed over to Scorpio, just as all of us. It indeed never occurred to me that this whole thing could be fake, made up by the one who had started this all. It just seemed too... real.

The mayor himself, however, was still looking at Libra. 'Did the journal give you an explanation for my son's unacceptable behavior?' Libra opened his mouth, but closed it right after. He almost looked guilty for not saying anything – but why?

After there came no response from him, the man turned to Scorpio and frowned. 'Scorpio?' he asked, but his voice wasn't clear anymore. It was sharp, with a bit of despise, it seemed.

His son didn't react; or at least, he didn't react verbally. All he did, was averting his gaze down to the ground, until his father spoke up again. 'Scorpio, I want an explanation from you. Or, perhaps you'd rather have me reading it myself from your journal?'

Scorpio finally looked up, but the smirk we were used from him didn't come with. The expression on his face was one we'd never seen before: hesitation.

'Father, I...' he started, but stopped when he noticed everyone was looking at him. His father appeared to notice this too, but responded to it a whole other way: 'You tricked them into this, apparently, so I think you might as well explain why, don't you think?' It took a couple more seconds of silence – ugh, why? – until he finally opened his mouth.

'I just... I hoped that if you saw what they had done, you would punish them by actually taking the building down,' Scorpio admitted. 'Then, after some time, I could tell you that I might have something to do with it, and... you'd be proud of me.' He bowed his head, leaving his expression somewhat ashamed. 'I just wanted to be powerful, like you.'

Leo gasped, from next to Aries, who grumbled something that sounded like "sick little bastard" while I had to do my best to keep my thoughts about this to myself as well. Taurus seemed to find this just as hard as me, I could tell from his pissed off expression and the way he clenched his teeth, almost the same way Sag did. Gem squealed softly and grabbed my arm tightly, which probably surprised me even more than Scorpio's whole explanation. Gem who didn't feel the need to talk – or even whisper – the crap out of the situation? That wasn't right.

Scorpio's father, however, didn't react like any of us did. He looked downright furious, and I didn't think that was a good thing.

'I cannot believe this,' he said softly, and slowly started walking over to Scorpio. 'You thought this would make me proud of you? You thought this would make me feel better about you?' Scorpio shrank in, looking down to the ground again, and I almost had my thoughts running all over the place again, when something happened even I didn't want to believe had happened.

Smack.

Leo gasped again, but this time, it was more of a muffled gasp, and from the corner of my eye, I saw her pressing her hands to her mouth. And for once, I gave her all reason to. How else could you react to a father smacking his son?

'You are a disappointment,' the man stated, and narrowed his eyes. 'Go home. Now.'

Scorpio didn't hesitate to move from the spot he was standing and slowly walked past Libra and Q, through the doors until we couldn't see him anymore.

The mayor sighed, and turned over to us, looking very tired suddenly. 'I am extremely sorry for the behavior of my son. I want you to know that your place is safe, even though it seems like it can use some repair. Please know that none of you will be punished for this, although I will have to speak to my son for acting like this.'

'Perhaps we could talk to him?' asked Cancer, all of a sudden. 'I mean, we would really like to hear his story.' 'Yes, I think that's a great idea,' Libra said, and after another sigh, the man nodded. 'Alright. I hope you can get him to reason with you; he is very stubborn.' 'Yeah, we noticed,' Aries mumbled softly.

'Anyway,' the man went on, 'I have to get back to my job. There is a lot to do, as the mayor, but I think you can imagine that.' 'Of course, sir,' Libra responded, and after we received a last nod towards us, he left the room, and we were left with just the eleven of us.

'So, I guess we can officially name you Virgo 2.0 now, huh?' Aries stated, and I chuckled softly, along with the others and surprisingly, Libra himself too. 'Well, I don't know. I can talk to grown-ups, that's all,' he said with a smile. 'You did a good job, though,' Virgo stated and walked up to him. 'It's nice to have you back here, Libra.' 'Thank you, Virgo,' Lib responded. 'And I'm sorry about before. I shouldn't have questioned everything, and well, breaking down probably wasn't the greatest decision too.'

We chuckled along, and I realized he might be less of a wimp than I thought he was. But well, I'd discuss that with Q later on, because by the looks of it, she seemed to know more of his situation. 'We should probably go and check on Scorpio, really,' said Libra, when our laughs had faded. 'But that won't be too tough, I guess. We've had most of the bad things already.' He smiled faintly and turned half around, facing the brown doors that had opened way too many times in just those thirty minutes. 'At least now everything is over.' And with those words, he turned to walk over to the door and followed Scorpio in his actions. Slowly, people started to follow him, until it was just me, Aries and Leo left. A short silence occurred, until Aries stated: 'Well, looks like he is a Chaos Survivor after all.'
