Aries is tired and she makes sure everyone around her knows it.
"Ugh, how much further?" She says as she leans forward into that tight spot between the drivers seat and shot gun, from the middle row.
"Not long now, Aries. A few more minutes," Coach Ophiuchus reassures her, drumming his fingers on the wheel.
"Can you go back to annoying Fishon again? This is the fifth time you've asked in the last two minutes," Taurus, who is sitting shot gun, says as he pushes Aries head back through the gap until she is sitting against her backrest.
"Pastel Boy, is asleep there," the pink haired girl points to Pisces, who is curled up in the seat next to here. "He's not as entertaining when he's asleep."
"So wake him up," Taurus groans. It is 11:00 at night. By the time the plane landed, they got through the two hour immigration line, collected their bags and rented the van, it had gotten really late.
"No," Aries shakes her head slowly as she brushes a lock of blonde hair out of his eyes. "He looks so peaceful right now."
"Then shut your trap," Taurus says.
"But I'm tried. . ." Aries moans. "How much further?"
"Wanna bet those two get together by the end of the trip," Cancer whispers to Aquarius in the third row of seats. Next to them Scorpio and Capricorn are asleep, their heads resting on each other and their limbs tangled amidst the seat belts.
"Scorpio and Capricorn?" Aquarius asks.
"Yeah. What? you thought I was talking about Taurus and Leo. We already knew that," Cancer replies, his lips strung in a sleepy smile.
"Honestly, I thought you were talking about Aries and Taurus for a second cause they won't shut up. But really? Scorpio and Cap? Aren't they best friends?" Aqua says.
"Yeah, sure. Aries and Virgo are best friends, but it's different."
"How?"
"They're not in love with each other, for a start," Cancer says factually.
This causes Aquarius to cock his head and look a little closer. Scorpio and Capricorn always just seemed like very close friends to him. The way they are cozied up to each other now certainly seems more than friendly. But If they were in love, how had he not noticed?
"How do you know they're in love?" Aqua asks.
"I have a gift. A bit of a radar," Cancer shrugs.
Aquarius catches Cancer's eyes.
"Like a gaydar?"
"Sure, put it that way."
"Is anything else currently on your radar?"
"No. Not yet."
Leo and Virgo are sitting together in the next row, whispering with each other. They're trying not to wake Libra, who is passed out right next to them. He tends to sleep with his mouth wide open and the girls were poking fun at it before delving into a much more serious conversation.
Virgo wants to play Cupid and Leo gets fidgety on long car rides.
"So what's up with Taurus and you?" Virgo asks, making sure to keep her pitch low.
"Nothing. We're just friends," Leo gives her teammate a perplexed look.
". . .really? So you don't like like him?"
". . . No."
"Not even a little bit?"
"Okay, maybe a little bit."
"I knew it!" Virgo exclaimed and her outburst almost woke up Libra. The girls watched as he twitched in his sleep but he didn't show any signs of stirring.
"What? How?" Leo says after they established that Libra wasn't going to wake up.
"Because you're pretty obviously about it," Virgo sighs.
"I am? Oh stars, do you think Taurus noticed? I hope not, cause I really don't think he likes me back. That's why I've been keeping it low-key," she fusses, a little panicked.
Virgo stares blankly at Leo.
"You are beyond my help."
In the back row, Gemini and Sagittarius are playing hang-man on Gemini's phone.
"S," Sagittarius says, and Gemini grins a little, because it is the last letter needed to complete her phrase.
"Butterfly sucks ass," she says proudly, turning the phone around to show Sagittarius the finished statement. He chuckles.
"Someone's a little bitter about doing the 200 fly," he gives Gem a knowing look.
On the third day of the their meet in 2 weeks there are none of Gem's best events. In fact, Gemini doesn't particularly like any events listed for that day. So, for fun, Coach Ophiuchus decided to put her in the 200 fly, so she wouldn't just be sitting around all day. To say the least, Gem isn't impressed.
"A little bitter? I'm actually considering mysteriously coming down with the flu that day. Honestly, maybe I'll just scratch without—"
Gemini keeps talking but Sagittarius accidentally zones out. He finds his attention swayed to Leo, Virgo and Libra's row. Virgo and Leo are talking about something and Sag can't quite figure out what. Maybe if he just—
"What are you looking at?" Gemini follows his gaze, not quite getting it, but now bored, she takes Sag's jaw in her hand and turns his head back to her. She beams. "You're turn."
"Who feels like burrito bowls for dinner?" Coach Ophiuchus asks. The team haven't eaten anything but granola bars since lunch time and it's now late at night.
"I feel like going to sleep," Aries reiterates.
"We know, Aries, but you have to eat," Coach Ophiuchus says.
"Yes! Burrito bowls! I'm starving," Taurus says loudly. This causes both Pisces and Libra to stir awake. Capricorn and Scorpio stay fast asleep.
"Good morning, Pastel Boy," Aries smirks at Pisces, who replies with a sleepy smile.
"Does anyone object to burrito bowls?" Coach Ophiuchus exclaims. No one objects. "Okay, burrito bowls it is then."
As the van turns off the main road to the restaurant, Scorpio and Capricorn finally jump awake.
