"No food gets left behind."

-C O R Y-

Dylan was obviously ecstatic to be out with me today. And I took him to the only hangout I know best, Jitters.

Because the bar is unacceptable.
And it's closed.
But mainly because it's unacceptable.

I'm honestly beginning to think that I need to take a day off eventually to tour around Central City. My sense of direction gets jumbled often on my way home. You wouldn't believe the number of times I've walked into the wrong house before. Just like you won't believe the number of people who leave their front door unlocked. And the equal amount of time people stay inside with just their underwear.

Thursday was my day off of work so I thought their really isn't any other better time than to bring Dylan along.

The bell rang as usual above the door and this particular time, Iris wasn't here to greet us. Thank god, I was a bit afraid she'd pull me aside for a brief questioning as to why I had Dylan with me. More like full out interrogation in the back with dramatic lighting and everything.

If she thinks I can't see the way she tries to set up Allen and I, then she's as blind as she acusses me to be.

The two of us took a high legged table on the first floor and ordered both a chocolate milkshake and cronut. Its been Iris' latest craze lately, I've considered taking her word for it too.

"What?" Dylan sat across from me, hands folded together and simply stared at me.

"Nothing."

"Than why are you staring?"

He chuckled quietly. "I'm scared that if I look away, you'll steal my money again."

I laughed-cackle is the right word- and not in a flirtatious matter either. It resembled the wicked witch of the west ready to strike Dorothy.

"That was just one time. Besides I promised I wouldn't do it again."

He waved his hands up in surrender. "Don't worry I believe everything that spits from your rotten yellow teeth."

This time I snorted. Ain't that just lovely. "You're doing it again. You're staring."

He shrugged. "Can't help it your beautiful." At this moment our orders arrived. I took my milkshake and mimicked Dylan's staring as I sipped.

"What?"

"You're a very contradicting person." He took a sip as well before replying, "How so?"

"You called be beautiful but twenty seconds before that called my teeth yellow and rotten."

"Would you believe me if I said you have that affect on people?"

My head shook along with the scrunching of my nose and eyebrows.
"Eh, not really."

Behind me the flat screen TV caught my attention. It was stuck on the news channel apparently.

"Behind me folks is the Gold City bank and it appears a robbery has taken place." The reporter stated. "Witnesses seem to claim a man brewing a thunderstorm inside the building merely moments before the skylight collapsed."

I gaped at Dylan and vice versa right before my phone rung in my back pocket. "Hello?"

"Cory?! Have you seen the news?"

"Watching it right now."

"We need you down at the lab."

"Because..."

Cisco sighed heavily on the other end, hating the idea of having to explain himself. "Barry was almost hit by a car in a speed chase."

I rolled my eyes. "That's cool."

Cisco scoffed in reply. "Barry said he's another Meta Human."

I lowered my voice down to something below a whisper since Dylan was still close by. "Meta Human?"

You could practically hear the head nod across the line. "That's what we're calling them,"

Who the hell came up with that name?

"I came up with it." That explains a lot. I did a second eye roll. "How are we sure Allen hasn't been sniffing glue or something? He's been the only one pointing out the weird things in everybody."

"That's not true. Now would you hurry up and get here already!"

"What do I have to do with this!"

I received glances from people around at my rise of voice.

"Does it really matter? Be here in ten." The line went dead afterwards. The little shit hung up on me.

"Since when did I have to be Allen's babysitter." I grumbled beneath my breath. Standing up and collecting my belongings I almost forgot about Dylan until he cleared his throat.

"We're you heading?"

"Oh, right, I got called down to the lab if you don't mind." He shook his head no. "Mind bringing a guess?"

A smirk tumbled onto my lips. "Of course not." We walked out in linked arms before I realized I left my food on the table, barely touched.

I can promise you one thing, no food gets left behind.

"Did I get here early for once?" I scoped out the place instantly noticing not an Allen in sight.

"Damn that's a first." I say at my desk, it's not actually my desk but hell, considering the amount of time I spend her not only should I get my own desk but my own room while I'm at it.

"We weren't the only ones affected by the particle accelerator, were we?!" Dylan's jaw hung in pure confusion. Now that I've noticed, I really didn't think this through, did I?

Dr. Wells took a look at Cisco and Caitlin for a moment before speaking. "We don't know yet?" Now what the hell is he talking about?

"You said the city was safe, that there was no residual danger. But that's not true. So what really happened that night?" At this point, I was more confused than Dylan. Did they have a meeting without me or something.

"Someone please tell me Allen is up to another one of his crazy antics please."

Dr. Wells ignored me perfectly, just like he's been doing for the past five years, and turned on one of the screens mounted on the wall to show a animation of what went wrong with the accelerator, just as Barry asked.
Was that just qued-you know up and ready for when Barry walked in?

He took a deep breath and threw yet another glance at his employees. "Well, the accelerator went active. Cory's chamber was doing well. We all felt like heroes, and then..."

Wells made a 3D diagram of the accelerator appear. Two orange orbs representing energy collided with one another.

"It all went wrong. The dimensional barrier ruptured, unleashing unknown energies into our world."

The screen played the explosion covering the city and showed its affected areas.

"Antimatter, Dark energy, X-elements-" He listed.

"Those are all theoretical." I said, going along as best I could with the information given.

Wells turned towards me with that straight faced expression as hard as stone. "And how theoretical are you?"

My lips flat lined after that. "And to make things worst, the accelerator explosion caused a chain reaction involving the Gravity Chamber. The anti gravity segment to it carried it out all over the city," He's saying as if this whole thing is my fault. "We mapped the dispersion throughout and around Central City though we have no way of knowing what or who was affected." I could hear him choking on his own spit while saying that sentence.

"We've been searching for other meta-humans like Cory and you."

Allen and Dylan surely took the chance to do a double take. "Meta-humans?" They asked identically.

I snorted. "Stupid name, right?"

"Hey!" Cisco is so easy to mess with. But Dylan doesn't seem to appreciate my awesome humor.

"I saw one today," Allen admitted. "He was a bank robber. And he can control the weather."

Cisco beamed at the newly told information. "This just keeps getting cooler." I could just imagine him comparing this to a comic book issue in his head.

"No, not cool." Barry's voice was turning stern and so were the looks he was casting around the room. "A man died today."

Cisco's smile dropped instantly and the demeanor in the room shifted coldly. "Mardon must've gotten his powers the same way we did, from the storm cloud. He's still out there! We have to stop him before he hurts anyone else!"

Allen turned around to barrel out of the room when Wells called out to him. "Barry, that's a job for the police."

"I work for the police."

"As a forensic assistant." Harris snapped back. Dr. Sassy Wells is in the house.

"You're responsible for this. For him, you know." I was becoming royally pissed at Wells secretly attacking my position as the headless bitch in our bunch. Anyone a mile away could see he was giving me a run for my money everytime we were ever in the same room as each other.

And besides, the man I'm this room is a coward. He's too selfish to admit his mistake.

"What's important is you two! Not me." He was being just as dramatic as Allen here. The two runner ups for sass queens.

Dylan squeezed my hand to reassure me everything was gonna be okay. Then I suddenly felt bad for bringing him. I didn't know we were gonna have an agrunment. But I guess he'd have to get use to the family eventually. I mean they are my greatest baggage.

"I lost everything." He began to complain. "I lost my company, I lost my reputation, I lost my freedom."

And your friends-oh wait I forgot... You didn't have any in the first place.

"And then you broke your arm and your skull nearly cracked open and it healed in three hours."

Dylan unintentionally rubbed the back of my head through my hair. I smiled faintly, knowing he couldnt see. It was the little things that counted.

"Inside your body could be the map to a whole new world. Genetic therapies, vaccines, medicines, treasured deep within your body. And we cannot risk
Losing everything because you want to play hero. Your not a hero. You're just people who was struck by lightning."

I couldn't bite my tounge any more. I sat up from my seat beside Dylan with a dissaproving look.

"That sounds painfully close to being a test monkey..."

"Oh, Cory, don't even start." Wells began to look annoyed which gave me so much pleasure you wouldn't be able to even comprehend.

"We both know I have lots to say about this, but I'm not gonna waste my breath. Because it seems your more worried about what's inside us than us in general."

I was mad. I get where Allen was coming from and I didn't disagree. But then there's other times where Harrison Wells acts beyond suspicious and is cruel that you just can't hate the critics for not liking him.

I walked out to the hallway, and kept a steady pace till I made it outside. Foot steps pounded the ground behind me softly. It had me wondering if it was Allen who most likely was pissed off at Dr.Wells and stormed away with his dramatic self, or Dylan who got overwhelmed with worrie, went out to look for me, and was preparing to provide hugs.

"Hey, I just-um, wanted to say thanks... for standing up for me back there." I spun around to meet Allen who had a light hand placed on my shoulder.

Giving him a closed lipped smile, I simply nodded. "I'm not all bad you know." Then went back on my way to a trail I never thought I'd see myself heading down.

[Re-Edited]
