Sock Opera-Part One

The Cipher twins were at the libary together. They sat by one table, the old laptop they had found in the bunker, was placed before them, now fully functional.

"This is it," Will said, excitingly. "Dipper finally fixed the laptop."

Bill was less enthusiastic than his brother, examining his nails. "I don't get why Pine Tree sent us to look through it."

"It shows that he trusts us," The blue haired boy said, then opened the laptop. "Now, let's see what we can find."

He pressed the power button, and the twins watched as the screen lit up. They looked at the laptop intently, only to be surprised when the words UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS FORBIDDEN. Then, the words Enter Password appeared, with six empty dashes underneath it.

"Ugh, of course, there's a password," Bill groaned.

Will looked at the dashes thoughtfully. "Any thoughts on what it could be?"

"111111?" The blond replied, tiredly.

"This is serious, Bill," He remarked.

"The password for this thing could be anything, might as while get the nonsensical ones out of the way," The blond noted.

Will sighed, then typed in the numbers Bill suggested. A red light flickered on the laptop, followed by a harsh buzz. "Didn't work. Anything else, Bill? And try to think really hard on it."

Bill rubbed his chin thoughtfully, then snapped his fingers. "I got it! 11111..2"

"We're gonna be at this forever," Will groaned.

"Be at what?"

The twins turned, and were pleasantly surprised to see two familiar faces. Mabel and Dipper Oak, also known as Falling Star and Red Pine by Bill, approached them.

Red Pine looked at the laptop. "Did you steal that or something?"

"It depends, are you a cop?" Bill questioned, and Will nudged him.

"We found it somewhere in the woods," Will answered. "It was broken, so a friend of ours fixed it. We're trying to figure out the password."

Dipper arched a brow. "Isn't that a little dangerous? Unlocking a suspicious laptop you found in the woods. Knowing this town, it could unleash a soul sucking monster for all we know."

"That is a high possibility," Bill admitted.

Red Pine shrugged. "In that case, I'm in."

"Me too!" Falling Star beamed.

"Wait, you're gonna help us?" Will said, in surprise.

"Yeah, things are more exciting with you two around," Red Pine pointed out.

"And we'll do whatever we can to help," Mabel smiled. "Trust me, together we can totally--wait, what's that sound?" She tilted her head at the sound of music. She looked across the room, to see a guy putting on a puppet show for kids.

"All my life, I've been dreamin' of a love that's right for me," He sung, while playing a miniature keyboard. "And now I finally know her name, and it's...Sing with me, kids."

"Literacy!" The kids sung.

"I finally understand what the buzz is about!" The boy talked through his bee puppet. "Reading!"

"Give me some of that honey!" The book puppet said. The boy made the two puppets kiss, laughing to himself.

Mabel stared at him with a lovestruck expression, while her brother narrowed his eyes.

"Mabel, no," Red Pine said.

She pouted. "But, he has a ponytail--"

"I don't care about his hairstyle," Dipper remarked. "Every time you develop a random crush, you end up heartbroken, then I would have to comfort you. Plus, you would eat all the cheese from the fridge."

"I'm just going to talk to him," Falling Star insisted.

Red Pine gave her a suspicious look. "Talk about what, exactly?"

Mabel shrugged. "You know, normal things: global warming, the latest TV shows...whether or not he'll give me his number--"

"Mabel," Dipper sighed, but he went ignored.

"Anyway, I'll see you later," She said, before making her way towards the boy.

"Just when I thought Shooting Star had low standards," Bill murmured to Will, before turning back to the laptop.

Mabel eagerly approached the boy, as he was finishing his performance.

"And that's why we don't put our hands in other people's mouths!" He sung, along with the kids. "Hey, I'm Gabe Benson, and it has been a joy entertaining you all." With that, the kids got up, and left the libary with their parents.

"Good job, you two," Gabe said to his puppets.

"You were late on your cue," The book puppet told the bee puppet.

"Whaaat!?" The bee exclaimed.

"Hey, be nice you two, we're all stars here," Gabe told them.

"Hey there!" Mabel beamed, gaining his attention. "I'm Mabel, and you are?"

"My name is Gabe," He introduced himself. "Master of puppets, nice to meet you."

"Master of puppets, you say?" Falling Star said, with interest. "Now, that's cool."

"Really?" Gabe smiled, then looked away sadly. "A lot of people think puppets are dumb, or just for kids."

"Pfft! Not me," Mabel said. "I love puppets, people call me Puppet Crazy Mabel."

"People used to call me Puppet Crazy Gabe!" Gabe beamed. "So, when is your next puppet show?"

"My what?" Mabel asked, confused.

"I mean, you can't truly love puppets without throwing puppet shows," He said, as though it was obvious.

"Oh yeah," Falling Star laughed, nervously. "I'm totally working on a puppet show."

"Ooh, what are the details?" He asked.

"There are soooo many details," She stalled.

Meanwhile, Bill and Will were still trying to figure out the password. Red Pine was busy searching a shelf for something that might help, and came across a book.

He took it off the shelf, before showing the others. "Look at this, this cryptology book says it has over 7.2 million six-letter words."

"Great, here's the plan," Bill said. "You and Falling Star will take turns reading, while my brother and I will take turns typing."

"Actually, we might have a change of plans," Mabel said, walking towards them.

"You're back sooner than expected, did you hit it off with that guy?" Her brother asked.

Falling Star shuffled her feet. "About that...how hard do you think it would be to write and compose a sock puppet rock opera with lights, original music, and pyrotechnics by Friday?" The three stared at her.

"You have got to be kidding me," Red Pine groaned.

"I don't know what happened!" Mabel panicked. "I got lost in his eyes and ponytail, I'm gonna be so embarrassed if I don't have anything on Friday!"

Bill shrugged. "OK, that sounds like a you problem, so--"

"You have to help me," She pleaded.

"Falling Star, you already promised to help us with the password," Bill reminded.

"I will, but in return, can't you do me this one favour?" Mabel insisted. "Please, it's for love."

"I guess, I can help you with the preparations," Will offered.

"I'll help too," Red Pine said.

Bill stared at him. "Seriously, Red Pine?"

The boy in red shrugged. "She's my sister, after all. And, I'll still help you whenever I can."

Bill narrowed his eyes, but then heaved a sigh. "Alright, we'll figure out the password after we finish this weird puppet show."

Mabel squealed happily, engulfing Bill in a hug. "Thank you!"

"No physical contact!" Bill snapped, pulling away from her.

"Sorry," Mabel said, before smiling. "We should start now, we just need a location to set things up."

"You can do it by our shack," Will suggested.

"Great idea, Will," She beamed. "We should start now." She began to walk towards the exit, beckoning the others to follow her.

"Will, I'm disowning you again," Bill told him, before picking up the laptop and book, then grudgingly following Mabel. Will was close behind.

Red Pine was the last to follow, but he paused abruptly. He suddenly felt a chill up his spine, making him turn around in search of what caused the sensation.

"Red Pine, come on!"

He heard Bill's call, before hesitantly moving towards the exit. Unaware to him, a pair of glowing red eyes stared at him from the shadows.
