Zarkaria
Chapter Five
The darkness was immense never before had Zarkaria had these events. There was never a flood, never a heat wave. Never had the water flowed back up. The woman and her two rescuers headed to the elder. The oldest one of them all.
The trek was hard and often the trio got stuck in the mud and destruction. Along the way they helped the others the best they could gathering more people that wanted answers.
Elder Quinton looked out his window shaking his head in wonder. He knew the people of Zarkaria would come seeking answers to what has happened. The problem was he didn't know.
"Elder we have guests."
"Let them in."
When the doors opened Elder Quinton turned around. His heart fell as he stared at the people who had entered. There was five people in total. All of them covered in mud and blood.
He watched as they all bowed down to him before they stood up straight and asked him "what happened?"
"My dear people I don't know the answer to that question." He replied as he hung his head.
"How can you not know?" A man asked.
"In the history of this place there has only been peace for hundreds of years. What happened in the past formed this sanctuary. Never has there been a flood."
The woman stepped forward hanging her head. The elder noticed her ripped dress, the mud that caked her hair, all the cuts and bruises on her body. "My child what happened to you?" He asked her.
"I was at the wall. I saw a crack it was no bigger than my hand. Them suddenly the ground shook and water flowed threw the crack taking my feet out from under me. If these two men hadn't caught me I would have drowned." The woman replied
"A crack in the wall?!" Someone shouted out.
Elder Quinton held up his hands to calm the chaos that broke out. "People! Please calm down! There must be a mistake the wall can't be cracked."
The woman stepped closer the elder. "I saw it with my own eyes. There was a crack in the wall. That is where the water came from."
"Lies." Someone called out.
"No I am not lying. There was a crack." The woman exclaimed. Frustration was lacing her words as tears threatened to spill out. This was one reason she didn't want to talk to anyone about the crack. She knew no one would believe her.
The elder believed her though. How else could this happen? "Could you show me the crack?" Elder Quinton asked.
The woman looked at him nodding her head. "Yes I can show you."
