It was a beautiful Wednesday morning in GoldenRod City. The pidgey's were chirping, the bellossom were performing a dance in front of the gym to celebrate the grand re-opening ceremony. Whitney had to rebuild the gym after the unexplained earthquake that happened last month. The Sylveon Café was holding a dinner special in honor of the newly reconstructed gym.

The café is owned by a human talking female Sylveon named Sylvcake.
Her trainer, who is currently participating in the Battle Frontier, allowed Sylvcake to run the café while she was gone. Every so often, the trainer would call the café to check on business.

"One Oran berry latte coming right up!" Sylvcake told the customer. She grabbed a small cup with one of her ribbons, a few Oran berries, and roasted coffee beans. As she was making the latte, her friend Ninetails was taking orders. She was a shiny Ninetails which helped the café gain popularity.

After long hours of work, Sylvcake and Ninetails close the café for their lunch break. "There were more costumers today than usual." Sylvcake said while eating a Sitrus berry pie. "It really was a busy day!" Ninetails told her while sipping on tea. The two continue to talk when a sudden knock was made at the glass door.

At the door stood a injured Umbreon with huge gashes on his side. The Umbreon collapsed at the doorway entering a unconscious state. Immediately after the Umbreon collapsed, Ninetails called a Nurse Joy. Sylvcake rushed to the Umbreon's side to check his vitals and such. She a dark blue collar around his neck. It had his information imbedded in it.

Sylvcake was shocked to see that the owner and contact information were scratches out. This Umbreon was probably stolen. Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny arrived at the café with surprising speed. Sylvcake and Ninetails explained what happened and closed the café for the day. Sylvcake went with Zelo to the Pokemon Center to accompany him since she was the only own 'acquaintance'. Ninetails called their trainer to explain the situation.

Zelo was treated for broken bones,  internal bleeding, infected wounds, bruised lungs, gashes along both his side's, 3rd degree burn, and paralysis. He was emitted into a room and had fallen into a coma.

Sylvcake stayed with him till he recovered. Signing medical papers for him as well as talking to him to keep herself occupied. After the first few days, Nurse Joy said that Zelo would develop amnesia and suggested a medicine that would help prevent it. Sylvcake looked over the contract and the side effects but did not sign it. Nurse Joy asked why but Sylvcake only replied with "Its best he forgets".

Two weeks has passed and Sylvcake's trainer returned to GoldenRod City to see what the commotion was about. Sylvcake had developed small feelings for Zelo after taking care if him for two weeks. She would tell him her day at work and even got him small plush toys to decorate his nightstand. One was a Sylveon while the other was a Umbreon. Ninetails would visit too and bring poffins from the café for them to eat. Even their trainer is in on it too. She started searching for Zelo's trainer in Kanto to find out what happened.

One day while Sylvcake was brushing Zelo's fur, Nurse Joy had come into Zelo's room with a saddened look. "This may be hard to talk about." Nurse Joy started. "We should sit down." She gestures to the small couch and table in the room. "We received some blood samples from the lab that indicate that E01-" Sylvcake stop Nurse Joy mid sentence. "Please call him Zelo." Joy nodded. "-Zelo is infected with a rare disease that if most likely fatal. We are to believe that there is no known cure." Sylvcake can feel her heart shatter as darkness consumes her as her eyes welds up in tears. She has fallen deeply in love with the Umbreon from all the time she had spent with him. "So we the nurses would like you to sign this contract so we can stop treatment and put Zelo down as humanly as possible." Sylvcake let her emotions go.

She cried for hours at the edge of Zelo's bed. She was about to stop when she heard grunting. She looked up to see Zelo slowly waking up. At first, Zelo was uncertain of the area he was in. His focus changed from aloof to uncertainty when he noticed Sylvcake.

"May I help you?" He asked in a confused tone. Sylvcake leaped onto the bed and hugged Zelo bawling her eyes out into his fur. Zelo just sat there not knowing what to do. After a few seconds, he hugged her back trying to sooth her.
