Chapter 9

Saturday - 3:06 P.M
May 8, 2015

Loud running, yelling, and shattering was heard from upstairs. I'm sure it's not looking pretty up there. The feds want me bad.

Zain's heartbeat picked up, his body was visibly shaking as he wrapped his arms around himself. Aww my poor baby, I hate seeing him scared.

Kneeling I gently turned Zain to face me. His pouty lips was trembling and his eyes watered. I cooed and brought him into a hug.

"Everything will be ok, Mommy is here. I'll never ever let anyone hurt you." I reminded him as I rubbed his back.

He sniffled and hugged me tighter, "I-I want to be just you and me again." He asked lowly, he was still holding onto me.

This surprised me, I thought Zain was having a great time over here with his family. He wants things to go back to how they were?

Unbelievable, he practically ignored me when all of the exciting things of having friends and toys came into his life. What's changed to make him want things to be like before?

I pulled away from our hug as the noise upstairs increased. Blocking it out, I gave my undivided attention to Zain.

"What's wrong? You don't like it here?" I asked. He shook his head, "I do" He said.

I moved to sit on the ground, Indian style. Instinctively, Zain came and sat in the open space.

My arms wrapped around him, holding him the same way I used to when he was just a baby.

"Tell me what's going on in your little head." I said, looking down at him. He had his face nuzzling in my chest, hiding his face away from me.

"Everything is good..but your different Mommy." He said looking up at me. I frowned, how am I different? I'm the same old Janunu Williams.

He reached up and touched my cheeks, giving them a little squeeze. "Your sad now and I don't it like when Mommy is sad."

I smiled big and brought Zain up for another hug, "Gosh your so caring...I am so blessed to have you." I muttered happily to myself.

"Danny!!" I heard Unique yelled from upstairs. Then a thud was heard, he either fell or got knocked out.

Bang
Bang

Not gunshots but effectively loud kicks. The door to the basement was kicked down and the feds poured their feet down the staircase.

I stood up immediately and put Zain in the furthest corner of the small space. He quickly shook his head and grasped onto my arm.

"Mommy no." He cried as he pulled me to come back to him. My very soft side was aching to hold Zain, but I can't...not right now.

I kissed his forehead, "Stay here, I promise no one will hurt you." I said reassuring. He cried more, "What about y-you, Mommy? W-what if they hurt you?" He sobbed.

The more he's with me the more I'm vulnerable, I love him so much. How can someone so innocent care so much about a murderous psychopath?

At his age the only thing that rummaged my mind was what will happen if the Alphas finally caught up with me.

Little Zain here knows nothing about the dangers that can kill either of us, but in the last few days his knowledge about danger is now expanding.

If only I had a time machine, I would have changed my past so Zain can have a better future. But my past is what brought him here.

If I were never to have been an assassin I would have never attracted Enzo to my direction.

If I were never to have gotten in that car chase with the Alphas, I would have never gotten a chance to fake my death.

If I were never to have agreed to going to therapy, I would have never been kidnapped.

If I were never to have endured all the pain Enzo have brought onto me, Zain would have never been born.

For going through all of my traumatic tribulations, I've been rewarded with the most valuable treasure alive...Zain, my light.

"They won't hurt me, I won't let them, so please stay here...your safety drives away my worry." I said.

He reluctantly let go of my arm and hurdled in the corner. He brought his knees to his chest and buried his head in his arms.

Barking pulled my attention away from Zain, damm it, they brought dogs. I hate dogs. The barking grew louder and were near me.

I grabbed some knives off the walls and armed myself. 2 knives were hidden at my ankle, 2 knives were hidden on my hip, and a knife were in each of my hands.

Those feds better be prepared for me, my son is in harms way because of them. The loud scraping, cracking noise of the dresser alerted me even more.

They're getting closer, the only thing that's separating myself and the opps is the door. Now that I think about it, how will I fight-

A stun grenade was rolled to my feet, then another and another one. 3-

Boom

"Ahhh!" I yelled as my ears rung. I can't see anything but smoke, "Z-zain!" I cried out. With all this damm smoke it was hard to see and breathe.

I felt a hand grab my arm, quickly I swung it to the owner of it. But I was too slow, they caught my hand and brought it to my back.

Everything was going so slow from their voices as they read me my rights to the few shadow movements I see in the smoke.

Zain, I need to find Zain.

Using my little strength, I tried to pull away. My body did not agree with me so I began coughing obsessively, feeling weaker and weaker.

"Z-z-zain!" I yelled as they practically dragged me out. As I got further away the smoke cleared up and my eyes were now being resourceful.

My ears on the other hand remained in the same stated. The loud ringing blocked out the outside noise, making me only be able to hear mumbles.

"Mommy!!"

"Mommy!!"

"Mommy! Don't let them take me! Please Mommy!"

"Zain" I whispered before my lights went out.

Saturday - 4:21 P.M
May 8, 2015

A cold breeze crawled across my neck, shivering me awake. My senses kicked in as I realized where I was.

I sat in the center of the room at a metal table, one large one-sided window was on my right, and a door in front of me. I was in an interrogation room.

Once I registered my surroundings, the first thing to flood my head was Zain. Where is he? Did they hurt him? What if Enzo took him?!

Don't panic Nunu, don't panic. I'm sure he's safe. Just take a deep breath in and let it on out. Now listen for Zain.

Boom boom
Boom boom
Boom boom

Found you, a steady heartbeat means he's ok. That's good, all I have to do is get out of these cuffs then I'll take him.

The door opened and 3 seriously tall mean looking cops came in.

Each of them were dressed professionally and they all had on the same designer. From the material of their suits, I know it's fake Prada.

The buff asian man with long hair remained standing near the door with his arms crossed. He's the bouncer.

The scrawny black man with a tatted neck was leaning against the wall, directed his body to me. He's the spy.

Lastly, the white man with differentiated eye color of blue and brown, sat right in front of me. He's the boss.

Unlike last time I was interrogated, they didn't bring in an essay about me. That's good, hopefully they don't ask stupid questions either.

"So let's get to the point, you vanish from the face of earth for 5 years and come back with a kid." The boss said gruffly.

He took my silence as a sign to continue, "That kid is majorly underweight, has poor social skills, and looks to have no relation to you." He said.

The last part was a bullet to my chest, 'looks to have no relation to you.' Is that how people determine if other people are related?

I sent a glare to the dipsh*t sitting across from me, "Looks have nothing to do with family." I gritted. He leaned in and propped his elbows on the table.

His face was converted into an expression of concern, "Oh, well to me looks is what majorly helps me when determining whose related to whom." He said.

My hands and jaw clenched repeatedly, calm down Nunu.

The spy moved in, "Seems like you've hit a nerve, Samuel. She's mad." He said smirking.

Samuel smiled, "So the kid out there is your weakness, got it. It's pretty sad that you won't ever be able to see him since you'll be in a heavily guarded prison on an island and him in foster care." He said.

What?! Foster care? He has family, there's no need for foster care. I know these idiots are trying to mess with me, but for some reason i keep falling for it.

Everything negative they say is getting to me, when usually it's not supposed to affect me. What wrong with me?

The bouncer came into play, "Why don't you tell us what happened after you killed your brother, Jacques Williams?" He said as he planted his hands on the table.

Killed? Is that what everyone think I did? Is that why the feds were so persistent on getting to me?

"Jhak didn't fall by my bullet." I said lowly as the memory of him dying refreshed in my head.

They scoffed, "Yeah right, we know who you are. Your not innocent, Shadow. You killed your brother." The spy said.

The little I can now take in, I rose to my feet as I slammed my hands down on the table. "You know nothing about what happened!" I yelled in anger.

Samuel arched an eyebrow, amused by my reaction. "Well then Janunu, go ahead and tell us what happened." He said smiling as if he accomplished something great.

I will never tell anyone about what happened.
