19. Investigator's End
One is scared of serial killings. However, the true fear begins if one investigates them.
My name is Miles Carson. I'm a private detective, who got reports of serial killings in the City of Boston.
Being the ambitious detective I am, I set off from my home at Concord riding my Jeep.
The killings were described as gruesome. Only males were killed, their bodies found naked with their genitals removed, their heads scalped. There are also writings, all over the body carved with a sharp object.
They happen in a park, not sure what the name was since the name plaque is missing. It recently opened a month ago, and the killings began. People tends to avoid the park at night, but in order to find out who this killer is, I need to arrive at night.
I arrived at the park at 9 PM. After I parked my car, I took my briefcase filled with my equipment.
I left my car in the night, walked through the park gate, and turned on my flashlight.
Navigating through the night, I found nothing along the pathways until I stumbled upon a bench.
On top of it is a folded newspaper, unfolding it reveals a small data disk, which fits into my phone.
I plugged it in, to see only one voice recording. Without hesitating, I played it.
"Welcome to my domain, detective. I know you are going to come tonight. You can either continue investigating me, or walk away. I'd rather pick the latter if I were you... But my mind wanted you to do the former. Once you continue to investigate, there is no turning back."
I gulped. Maybe I should've brought a partner along for this investigation. It's cold as ice tonight, and the cold went through my jacket. The voice from that recording chilled my spine even more, but I still need to find this killer, so that this park can be safe for everyone even during the night.
My ears perked at the sounds of bushes rustling behind me, and I turned around, with my flashlight pointing at said bush. Nobody there.
Then I felt something whizzed behind me, causing me to turn around again. I saw a silhouette running towards a dried fountain, and I followed.
It vanished after I reached it's destination, but I found another disk on the fountain. Inside is another recording.
"I'm pleasured. You chose to continue investigating, how unfortunate for you. You are under my sights now, detective.... And now, I'm behind you."
Turning around, I see the figure of a beautiful girl, her eyes widened, and her arms are swinging a baseball bat towards me.
Before I completely blacked out, I could only hear a few sounds she made.
"You're mine forever now, Detective."
