Chapter Sixteen

FURIKI'S POV

"I'm not going to ask how you pissed off Kiba, because you could've done it in a lot of ways. I'm not going to ask how you even got to the stage of fighting with him. All I'm going to ask, is why? Why are you going looking for fights?"

I glared at her. "Why do you care?"

Uchiha-sensei sighed. "You don't get it do you? I care because I'm your sensei, and there are some things I don't want you to get into the habit of doing. Shit like this, for instance."

I scoffed. "Whatever."

She growled and smacked the back of my head. "Don't you 'whatever' me. Come on and let me show you something."

Without waiting for me to give her my okay, she grabbed my collar and dragged me to the KIA stone.

-

"I'm guessing that you know what this is?" She asked

I nodded. "Yeah. What of it?"

She sighed again. "Check out some of the names on it. The ones on the right, in particular."

I groaned and looked. "Hijikata and, Ayame." I read out. "Why do I have to pay attention to these names in particular?"

"Because those are the names of the people in my old ANBU Black Ops Squad."

"So?"

"Do you want to know how they died?"

I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. "How?"

"We went on an S Rank mission, and even knowing that it was basically a suicide mission, we were confident that we were going to come out alive. At the time, I was 16, and they all were at least twice my age. I thought the exactly the same way, except I was cautious about how I acted around public, especially around the townspeople. They weren't. They were people that thought that because they were shinobi, they could get away with anything, and that regular people were below them." Her face showed disgust. "They didn't realize that all people were equal until the day they died. Anyway, they had been drinking while I stood watch, keeping an eye on who was acting suspiciously. Then there was yelling inside. I thought that it was just a squabble, but no, it turned into a brawl. When I went to go and see why my squad hadn't broken it up, I saw that they were the ones who were in it. Little did we know who we were really fighting. I tried to get them to stop, I ordered them to. It was too late though. The fight had progressed so that not even I could stop it. They did get kicked out, but all they did was take the fight outside."

She kept her eyes on the three names on the stone, while I kept my eyes on her. "And who were they fighting?" I asked when she didn't continue.

"They were fighting a bunch of rogue ninja using the transformation jutsu. When Hijikata and Ayame thought that the brawl was over, their enemies beaten, they turned their backs, and so they were stabbed by the rogue ninja, so far that their kunai were sticking out the front of their chests. In the later examination, we saw that the kunai went straight through their hearts.

I was distraught. Right in front of my eyes, my team had been killed."

There was so much sadness in her eyes. She clenched her fists. "And I couldn't do anything about it. However, I did kill the rogue ninja, and after mourning for my teams death, I completed the mission on my own, coming back with many injuries."

"Six broken ribs, a broken elbow, a busted lip, a punctured lung, a dislocated shoulder, three broken fingers, two broken toes, internal bleeding and you were so concussed that I still have no idea how you got back to the village." A voice said from behind me.

Sensei turned and her face softened. "Hey Sapph. I was a little worse for wear wasn't I?"

The lady laughed. I saw that her eyes were a sea blue, but had streaks of green running through. I tilted my head. What the hell was with her eyes?

"Furiki, this is my best friend Sapphira Uki. Sapph, this is Furiki Taiho."

"Nice to meet cha." Sapphira winked.

I glowered at her in return. She was one of those people who are too cheery. And yet, she was uchiha Sensei's best friend? How was that possible, when sensei was so resolved?

They started laughing and with a start, I realised I had spoken it out loud.

"You should have seen Yuuki when she was younger. She absolutely refused to talk to anyone outside of her team, me, and sasuke from the time that she was fourteen until she turned eighteen, and that, of course, was when she met Kakashi Hatake."

"The copy cat ninja?" I gawked. He was my idol.

Sensei giggled. "The silver haired guy whose hair defies gravity and wears a mask that comes to your lessons is Kakashi Hatake. Did that just click now?"

I blushed. "Y-yeah."

They burst out into laughter.

"Sapphira, guess what!" Sensei exclaimed.

"I know, you're engaged. To the copy cat ninja. I helped organize it remember? Thats what I came here to talk to you about."

Sensei paled a bit. "Furiki, I want you to go and find Roli and Kara. Then I want you all to go and train together. I'll be there soon."

I sensed that this was going to get personal, really really personal, so I agreed and went to find my teammates.

-

YUUKIS POV

"Sapphira, what is on your mind?" I asked when Furiki left. She was pacing back and forth, concentrating a little too hard on the ground.

"I know that you love Kakashi, but I'm scared that even though he loves you back, he could hurt you."

"I'm scared of that as well Sapphira. Trust me, I really am. But, I'm willing to take this risk. When I confronted him about joining the akatsuki, he said that he already knew, and I ran off after that, changing my attitude. However, then he forgave me and we're back together. I've got the feeling that this is going to work out."

"But Yuuki-"

I cut her off. "Sapph, I want at least one thing in my life to work out, and in the family department I haven't been what you would call lucky."

She sighed. "I know. I'm sorry I'm just paranoid. I don't want to lose my best friend."

I smiled and hugged her. "You won't lose me. Ever." I promised. "Come and help me with my team?" I pleaded.

She chuckled. "Okay. Only because you asked so nicely. Or begged, I should say."

I punched her lightly on the arm. "Shut up."

-

-

As we were walking, she asked "Taiho huh?"

I nodded. "Yeah he's Hijikatas nephew. I could see that. Thing is, when he saw Hijikatas name, he had no idea who he was. No clue at all. It makes me wonder whether or not Furikis dad told him what happened to his uncle. If not, then I just have. Furiki looks exactly like him."

"Poor kid. Not knowing who his uncle was. Poor you for having to look at Hijikatas face every day."

There wasn't any doubt that Furiki had Hijikatas personality. "I'm not going to compare him to his uncle. They aren't the same. Never will be."

-

-

AT THE TRAINING GROUNDS....

"So, I know that you have all worked with kunai and Shiruken. Now, we work on our body strength." I told them.

"What are we going to be doing today then?" Rori asked.

I glanced at Sapphira, who smile consisted purely of mischief. "You are going to be training with Guy's team."

I considered it. "Yeah, that would be for the best." I turned back at my team. "Okay. So today, we will be training with Guy and his team. Know that I don't expect you to be at their level, especially now that Neji is a Jounin. But I want you guys to try your hardest. I'll also be training with you today, because sometimes Guys training is insane."

"Who is this Guy?"

"You ever seen two people wearing green jumpsuits, and one is basically the exact same as the other, only smaller?"

"Those two?"

"The older and bigger one is Guy. The smaller one is Lee. They take their training very seriously." I closed my eyes and sensed where Guy was. Smiling when I found out that he was also in the training grounds with Neji, Lee and Tenten.

"Okay guys lets go."

"Hai Sensei!"

-

-

"Guy!" I greeted, waving.

"Yuuki Uchiha!" He waved back

"Uchiha-sensei. Good to see you." Neji smiled.

"Miss Uchiha! It has been a very long time since we have seen you!" Lee yelled.

"Hi Yuuki-sensei." Tenten giggled.

"Hey!" I grinned back. "Okay, so I've got something to ask of you all."

"What is that?" Guy asked.

"I need you guys to help me train my team for today. Strictly exercise. Running, lifting weights, practicing their balance and other stuff like that."

Guy grinned his massive grin. "Of course! They shall no longer be weak! I will help you make them strong!"

I sweat dropped. "Thanks?"

"No problem! Right now we are stretching to go for a run."

I sat down extending my leg, sending my students a silent order to get stretching.

They sat next to me and started.

"So how far are we running exactly?" Kara asked.

"We will be running around the village three times!" Lee replied cheerfully. "We are going easy today seeing as you are with us."

"Three times?" She gawked.

I nodded. "Three times. Don't worry, I'll be doing it with you."

She gave a grateful smile. "Thanks Uchiha sensei."

"Guy, we'll start now. We're going to need to get ahead. You guys catch up." I called.

He nodded.

"Alright up y'all get." I grunted, standing. "And pace yourselves. Don't try to go fast."

I let Furiki, Kara and Roli go first, and I started jogging with Sapphira.

-

-

We had only done one and a half laps when they started to get tired. Guy and his team had already passed us.

"If you guys begin walking, there's going to be penalty runs! And all of you have to do them!" I warned, as sapphira and i were catching up to Furiki, who was leading. I smiled. "And i'll buy ramen for whoever can keep up with me until we finish."

That gave them new determination. We sped up a little, but they still didn't fall behind.

-

-

"Hahahaha!" I laughed. "Good! Ramen for everyone tonight, but we're still not done!"

There were groans from everyone but Sapphira.

"And guess what we're doing next?"

"Sleeping?" Roli muttered hopefully.

"Nope. Weights." I knew that nothing was worse than doing widgets after a long run. And neither Guy or I were going to take it easy on them today.

"Right!" I picked up one of the weights. "These weigh about ten kilos each. I want you to-"

"Miss Uchiha! Miss Uki!" Kotetsu cut me off urgently.

I groaned. "What is it? I'm trying to train my team."

"Gomen. But something serious has come up." Izumo said.

They had Sapphira and my attention immediately. "What's happened?"

"I-it's Jin."

Worry rushed through me. "Why? Is he okay?"

"He's.... It's better if you come and look for yourself."

I looked at my best friend. She nodded. "Go. I'll tell Guy what's happened and then catch up to you."

I smiled and then ran with Kotetsu and Izumo.

-

-

They led me to the hospital, and into Jins room.

He was thrashing around in his bed, screaming with nurses and doctors around him, pinning him down. But he was still asleep.

"Jin!" I yelled, pushing away the nurses and doctors to get to his side. "Wake up Jin! You're not There anymore! Jin!" I shook his shoulders, hard. "Jin!"

He woke up, smacking me across the face, knocking me backwards.

"Get away from me! No more!" He was trying to struggle away from the nurses and doctors.

"Jin...." I murmured. It tore me in two to think that Orochimaru had done so much shit to him that he reacted like this when he fell asleep. My best friend. I got up and held his shoulders gently, looking into his eyes. "Look at me."

He did, and after a few seconds and recognizing who I was, he calmed down. "Yuuki." He whispered.

I sat down next to him. "Hey."

He put his head on my shoulder. "I was dreaming."

"I know."

He started sobbing, and I hugged him, rocking him back and forth.

"I'm sorry. So sorry." He apologised.

"I am too. For letting you be there for so long." I was almost in tears. I then glared at the other people in the room. "Leave. Now." I ordered.

They scurried out.

"You had a nightmare about Orochimaru didn't you?" I guessed quietly.

He nodded. "Don't make me speak of it anymore."

I nodded, understanding. "Okay. I won't."

I stayed with him until he fell asleep again, only leaving when I saw my team outside, looking worried.

-

"Is he okay?" Kara asked.

"He'll be fine. It'll take some time, but he'll get there."

"Who is that?" Roli said.

"That is Jin Senji. One of the best men that I have ever known. And the one who has been through the most torture." I replied.

"Torture?"

"At the hands of a man called Orochimaru." I spat. "If he's good at anything, it's torture. I know. I've experienced it first hand." I added quietly.

"Uchiha-sensei?" Furiki spoke up.

"Yes?"

"Were you a spy for the Akatsuki?"

I nodded slowly. "Only at one despicable time in my life. Trust me, I don't ever plan on betraying anyone in that way ever again."

They all teared up and hugged me, which caused shock, but happiness to run through me.

"Thank you. Now go home. Tomorrow we have to get up bright and early, I'm getting us a mission."
