The Highway man (pt. 1) (Fem!France X Reader)

((Requested by Tweak_Agatha_Bunny ))

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees.
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
And the highwayman came riding-
         Riding-riding-
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

He'd a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin.
They fitted with never a wrinkle. His boots were up to the thigh.
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
         His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.

(Name) sat in her room, her back against the wall. Flashbacks of what had just happened filled her mind.
She had just told her parents she was a lesbian, and it couldn't have gone worse for her...

--Flashback--
Utter shock filled the room at the words that had just come out of my mouth.
"I don't like boys... That's just not how I am. I like girls..." I breathed sharply, not sure what to expect.
My mom stood up, glaring at me her beer bottle in hand.

"You what?! How could you betray god!?"
My brother was staring at the ground, he had come out to me two days ago.
'Why isn't he defending me?'
"God hates fags! Your a bad omen for the rest of us, get out of my house!!! Now!"
"(M/n) maybe we should c-" my father began, but dad cut her off.
"No! She's the devil! God hates her!" she glared at me, chucking her beer bottle at me, it just barely missed my head, smashing into the wall behind me. Tears stained my eyes, without thinking I raced upstairs into my room, locking the door behind me.
"OH NO YOU DON'T YOU LITTLE BITCH!" She yelled banging on the door. "Come out here this instant young lady!!!"
I curled up into a ball against the wall, my breathing pattern uneven. I was terrified.

Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark inn-yard.
He tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred.
He whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess, the landlord's daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

And dark in the dark old inn-yard a stable-wicket creaked
Where Tim the ostler listened. His face was white and peaked.
His eyes were hollows of madness, his hair like mouldy hay,
But he loved the landlord's daughter,
The landlord's red-lipped daughter.
Dumb as a dog he listened, and he heard the robber say-

I heard the sound of something hard hit my window. I got up looking out to see Francine, my girlfriend.
"You ok mon amour?" She asked me, I shook my head. I was planning to introduce my family to her, if they accepted me...
Which didn't work out.

I shook my head, she sighed. "I knew this wouldn't end well. Here, jump down and I'll catch you! We need to get away from here."
I gulped, so many thoughts floating in my head.
'We're going to run away...'
'I'll be free.'
'But what about our family? Won't they miss us?'
'Who cares it's not like they care anyway...'
'No, I can't leave, what if something goes wrong? I'm scared...'

I shook my head once again. "I'm sorry... I can't."

"One kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I'm after a prize to-night,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light;
Yet, if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by moonlight,
         Watch for me by moonlight,
I'll come to thee by moonlight, though hell should bar the way."

He rose upright in the stirrups. He scarce could reach her hand,
But she loosened her hair in the casement. His face burnt like a brand

--Francine's POV--

My eyes darkened in disappointment. 'Does she not trust me? Non, that can't be it... Why would she want to stay with the people who are hurting her?'
I forced a smile, "think about it... I'll be back at 1AM tomorrow. Wait until then to decide. Either you leave and run away with me, or you stay and force yourself into secrecy. The choice is up to you mon amour, I will see you then.

With that I walked off, heaving a heavy sigh before walking back to my house.

As the black cascade of perfume came tumbling over his breast;
And he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(O, sweet black waves in the moonlight!)
Then he tugged at his rein in the moonlight, and galloped away to the west.

-Your POV-

I watched longingly after she left. I wanted to run away but I was too scared.
But little did I know that everything was about to get a lot worse...

((Should I continue this? ))
