Hanji X Reader ||Time for a coffee break!||
You sighed, staring out the window.
"Why has god abandoned us?" You wondered, your head laying on your desk. It was a chilly winter morning, not to mention your birthday. And to be honest, you couldn't care less right now....
Just yesterday, both your best friend, and your brother were killed by titans.
It wasn't just your broken arm that was hurting.
You didn't want to celebrate, especially not today.
As a squad leader, it was your job to keep a stiff uper-lip, and be there for your squad. But right now, you felt utterly defeated.
Erwin had given everyone a day off to relax today, thank god... You didn't feel like getting your ass kicked once again by Levi in training.
A single tear fell down your cheek, remembering your companions.
"Everyone I love dies... Why?" You said, "why me?"
You heard a loud knock on your door.
"Who is it?" You asked emotionlessly, not really caring. You were lost in your own thoughts today.
"It's Zõe." Hanji said from the other side of the door.
'Great ANOTHER headache.' You thought, rolling your eyes.
"Don't come in..." You muttered.
"I'm coming in!" She said, causing you to mentally face palm.
Hanji was her usual peppy self today, walking over to you.
"What do you want?" You asked ambiguously, not really caring.
"You."
You flinched at that.
"No, not in that way!" She laughed, causing you to sigh in relief, and glare at her.
'How can she always be so happy?' You wondered.
"I need you, down in my office. Girls day. Just the two of us." She explained.
"No thanks, I'd rather not."
"Well too bad, because as your superior, I order you to have a coffee break with me and stop moping around!" She said, smiling brightly and taking the hand of your good arm into your arm, practically dragging you with her, causing you to blush softly.
"Hanji stop!" You pleaded, trying to pull away, but the titan crazy girl had an iron grip on your hand.
"Nope! Too late!" She laughed leading you down to her office.
You rolled your eyes.
"Look Hanji, today's really not a good day for me, can we not do this now?"
"Ok, we'll do it now. A second after you said that." She chuckled, still dragging you to her office.
You mentally face palmed. Finally arriving at her office.
"Besides." She said, looking back at you before opening the door.
"It's not good to bottle up all your emotions like you do. It's not healthy. We need you to be sharp and at attention unless you want to be swallowed by one of those things."
"I don't really care honestly." You mumbled.
"You see! That's the exact thing I was talking about! Welcome to Dr. Hanji's therapy clinic, open 24/7!" She laughed, dragging you inside and locking the door behind her so that you couldn't escape.
"Hanji, is this really necessary?" You asked.
"Yes madam (Name)! Now, sit!" She ordered sitting down at her desk, where there was already two teacups of coffee waiting.
You sighed, knowing there was no way out of this you sat down in the chair directly facing her.
"Do you want creme or sugar in your coffee?" She asked.
"Um... Yeah, a bit of sugar please..." You answered.
She nodded putting a bit of sugar in your coffee, your stirred it in, taking a small sip of the caffeinated beverage.
"You know (Name)..." She began, earning your attention.
"It's kinda weird that we're not at the top of the food chain anymore, you know?"
"What do you mean?" You questioned.
"Well, before there were titans, we were the real rulers of the world. I wonder what that must've been like... To not be bound by walls." She sighed dreamily. You nodded softly, setting the teacup back down.
"I wonder what that was like... You'd never have to worry about losing the people you care about to those things... You can be what you want, and do what you want... It must be nice. Who knows. If titans never existed we might be on the moon by now!" She joked, making you shrug.
"What are you trying to get at?" You questioned, but of corse she continued to babble.
"No walls... Trees everywhere. Rivers, streams... Not to mention, more room for exploration and research!"
You groaned inwardly. "Hanji get to the point!" You begged, she snapped out of her daze.
"Oh right, and that's where we come in! We're here to make sure that people can live like that! In a world without walls." She said, grabbing your hands and leaning close to you, giving you that look, her eyes gleaming.
"We could really be ourselves then! No one would ever lose the people they care about, ever again!"
"W-what are you getting at?" You asked blushing, she was so close to you again.
"Well, (B/n) and (F/n) died for that reason didn't they? So there's no need to be so glum about it! They died for the very reason they joined here. It's pretty honorable really."
You looked at the ground, that pit in your stomach growing heavier.
"Hey, people die every day... Trust me, I've seen more deaths then you can count. I used to hate titans for that reason. But somehow... Knowing that my friends died so that our generation, and future generations can be free... Well, it's a worthy cause to live for isn't it? I live through them and remember all that they've taught me."
You felt tears form in your eyes, and you hugged her tightly, tears falling from your eyes.
"Shh... It's ok. Don't cry, it doesn't suit you..." She said, hugging you and rubbing circles on your back.
You gripped her tightly, not caring about the pain from her arm.
"See? Isn't this better?" She said smiling softly, her hand cupping your cheek, her thumb wiping away your tears.
"H-hey Hanji?" You whispered quietly, as she rocked you back and forth softly, you two were in a tight embrace.
"Yeah?"
"Do you think that Dr. Hanji could give me some other advice?..."
She laughed, "hm? On what?" She teased.
"Well..." You began. "There's this person that I really like..."
"Oooh? Tell me more."
"And well, it's not a boy..."
"Mhm. What's she like?"
"Well she can be really annoying at times, and super stubborn..."
"Mhm."
"And she is probably a little insane..."
"Mhm."
"She really cares about other people and gives really good advice."
"Tell me more."
"And well... I don't really know how to tell her that I like her... Do you have any advice?"
"Well I do, but I think it would be better if I just showed you..." She said, parting the hug she brought your face closer to hers, causing you to blush deeply, she paused.
"It is... Me right?" She asked awkwardly.
"Yes you idiot!" You said, closing the gap and kissing her passionately. She smiled into the kiss, kissing back.
You two eventually parted, her chuckling.
"Not a bad coffee break hm?"
"Not bad indeed." You agreed, she cupped your cheek gently, that stupid grin on her face.
Your lips locked once again, but for longer this time.
You felt the pit in your stomach lift, maybe she was right... Maybe your comrades did die for something after all...
"Oh and I nearly forgot..." Hanji said, separating the kiss.
"What?" You asked.
"Happy birthday!" She laughed.
You rolled your eyes, "your such a child!" You exclaimed chuckling.
"Mhm." She purred holding you close.
"Love ya." She said nuzzling into you neck.
"Love you too..." You said softly.
