((Monika is fem!Germany and Bella is Fem!Italy. Just thought I'd clear that up.))
"Come back home safely ok?" Those were the last words that (Y/n) had said to her before she left for war.
She had been away for five years, five long years serving her country. And now Monika was finally going to be able to come home.

But of corse she had wanted to plan a little surprise for her girlfriend... So she called Bella; after three minutes of happy squeals from the Italian, excited that Monika would finally be able to come home at last; and several cursings from Bella's sister, she agreed to help her.

As far as (Y/n) knew she was just going to spend a day with Bella, who worked at a daycare, taking care of the children there along with your friend Hungary.

"Ve~ I'm so glad you could come! The children are so excited to see you!" The happy Italian cheered as you both stood at the doorway to the daycare.
"No problem, those kids are adorable!" (Y/n) laughed.

"Kids! We have a special friend here to see us today!" She cheered, dragging the american girl inside.
((If your not American just deal with it, it's part of the story... Do they have Veterans day in Canada?...))

Kids around the ages of three or five were sitting at their snack table.
"Hi!" One of them yelled, trying to get out of her chair, Hungary chuckled. "Stay in your chair and finish your snack, and then we can have a little story and do our special Veteran's day celebration, remember?" The child nodded.

"Your hair is so pretty!" One of the girls said, causing (y/n) to blush lightly.
"Thanks, you're too kind."

Today was veterans day. The day Monika left for war... It was a day to respect the dead and active military, the people protecting our country.
"Ok, when you're finished with your snack, go to the circle, we're going to read a special book today! And we have a special guest as well!" Bella told the little kids.

"(Y/n) will you help me clean up the snack table?" Hungary asked and you nodded.
The kids were soon on their little circles on the rug, ready for story time.

"So today's story is about a very special day, does anyone know what that is?"
"Veterans day!" One of the kids said.
"That's right, today we're going to read H is for honor."

((Great book btw.))
As Bella read the book you couldn't help but tear up a little.
It talked about how brave the people were who went out to defend their country, and the sacrifice they and their families make.
It all reminded you of Monika.
((It would be way more feelzy if I could get the actual text from the book, I'm sorry :( I may edit this later if I can get the actual text.))

"The end." Bella finished, a few small tears fell from (Y/n)'s eyes.
"Miss. (L/n) why are you crying?" One of the little kids asked.

"Ok, I'm sorry... It just reminded me of someone I know that's all..."
"Who?" Another one asked.
"An amazing women. She's out fighting for our country right now."
"Wow! Really?! What's she like?"
You looked at Bella for permission and she nodded.

"She can be a bit stubborn at times, and very strict; but she's really a nice person.
She is always trying to do what she thinks is best, and can get a little wild sometimes..." (Y/n) giggled, remembering the Germany sparkle party they had that one time.
"She was always there for me... I haven't seen her in 5 years... Probably before you guys were born.
She means the world to me, and I... I miss her a lot." She finished, sniffling.
"She's off fighting as hard as she can..."

Bella looked at (Y/n) sympathetically.
"How about we all give Miss. (L/n) a hug to make her feel better?" Bella said, pulling her into a tight hug, the other kids did the same.
"Hug therapy!" They all said including Bella.

The (e/c) eyed girl laughed, "thanks you guys." She said.
But little did she know of a certain person watching from outside with a small smile on their face.

"Ok kids! It's play time!!!" Bella said, and the kids all giggled and scattered taking out toys and such.
The rest of the day went on by without a hitch, you helped some of the kids color or play with the blocks, Bella was even playing herself!
She's such a child... (Y/n) thought with a smile.

"Ok kids! Time to come to the circle again!" Hungary said, everyone "awed" most noticeably being Bella.

All of the kids walked back over to the carpet.
"Now before your parents come and pick you up we have one more surprise for you!" Hungary said. (Y/n) were facing the other way so she didn't see the figure who walked into the room.

Monika's boots clacked against the ground, as she stood a couple feet away from the circle.
"It's been a long time..." She commented.

(Y/n) froze, pretty much jumping up out of the chair she was sitting in, she ran over to Monika, hugging her tightly.
"Monika you're back!" She said, sobbing into her lover's chest.

Monika smiled and hugged her back, tears slowly falling down her cheeks, her body wracking with small sobs.
"I missed you..." She said, nuzzling her nose into (Y/n)'s soft (h/c) hair. "I thought you weren't coming back..."
"You told me to come home safe, and so I did..."

A chorus of awes came from Hungary and some of the other kids who got it.
Bella was sniffling.

They separated for a moment, only for Monika to press her soft lips against (Y/n)'s.

"Ewww!" All the kids cringed, some of them covering their eyes or sticking their tongues out.
You both parted once again, Monika letting out a small chuckle.

"WAAHHH!!! MONIKA!!!" Bella cried, tackling her friend into a hug as soon as the couple separated.
"Ja Bella, I'm home." Monika stroked her hair awkwardly.

"Best veterans day ever."
