"Do you have to go?" You asked worriedly, staring up at Chun- Yan.
She nodded, you sighed softly.
Recently your fiancé had been called to war, and there was a good chance that you'd never see her again...
Her captain called her over.
"I have to go. I'll be back in three years time." She told you.
Just when she was about to walk away you called out to her. "Wait!" You said, before hugging her tightly by surprise.
"(Y/n)..." She said hugging back.
"I love you... Come back safe."
She smiled, "I love you too... Look over Sakura ok? She'll need someone to play with while she's gone."
You nodded, and she walked off and mounted on her horse.
"Goodbye!" She yelled before riding off after the leader of their squad.
"I'll see you soon, and then when you come back we'll have a feast!" You told her.
That had been four years ago... A few soldiers came to me one day and told me that Chun- Yan had died in battle...
I walked down the streets of (Random city) a picnic basket in hand. Sakura was walking next to me.
"Where are we going mom?" She asked. That's right, after Chun- Yan died, you had become the legal guardian for Sakura.
"We're going to your sisters favorite spot. It's her birthday today remember." You reminded her, the young country nodded as you two headed up a large hill to a beautiful cherry blossum tree.
You kneeled down and Sakura sat next to you.
You began to unpack the things from the basket, a picture of Chun- Yan, as well as some sparklers, which you place in little holders on either side.
A small blanket was spread underneath them.
"Happy birthday, my love..." You said, tears beginning to form in your eyes. "If only you would have come home..." You said, small tears traced down your cheeks.
You began to sing softly.
"Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile tiny shells
Drifting in the foam
Little soldier boy
Come marching home
Brave soldier boy
Comes marching home..." You choked up a bit, Sakura was crying as well.
"Those leaves did grow
From branches overgrown
Drifting slowly down
Resting on the loam
Little soldier boy
Taken from home
Forced to fight a war
That's not his own..." You stammered, your voice cracking.
"Leaves from the vine
Falling so slow
Like fragile tiny shells
Drifting in the foam
Little soldier boy says
"Carry me home"
Sleeping soldier boy
Is carried home..." You finished, sobbing and crying, you hugged Sakura gently, and for once she let you hold her.
"I'll see you one day (Y/n)... I love you..." An invisible ghostly figure said, sparkly tears falling on her cheeks. Not like anyone could here her, before she vanished.
