True Love Conquers All {Aurora x Fem Reader}

Fun fact: When Maleficent turned into a dragon, as a child. I got scared and didn't want to finish the movie.

King Stefan paced back and forth, anxiety hitting him. Fear and stress clouding his judgement at the moment, he made sure every spinning wheel in the kingdom was burned.
Yet, he still fears for his newborn's life. His wife tried her best to calm her very stressed husband, but nothing was stopping his pacing.
The doors to the throne room were opened, pulling the King back to reality. Three fairies, each a different color. The panicking King makes his way towards them, desperate for any solution, any one to make sure this curse doesn't become true.
"So?!" He starts. "Did you find anything?! Think of anything?!" His panicking tone echoing off the room's walls. The fairies all nod in sink, agreeing with each other.
"Yes we have, your Majesty." The red fairy says, he let's out a sigh of relief, still feeling on edge. "So? What's the idea?" He asks calmly, trying to keep the self-control he still has.
The red one clears her throat. "We all agreed on putting the Princess deep into the woods, raising her there until her sixteenth birthday arrives. That way, Maleficent won't know where she is."
The grown man listens closely, nodding to every sentence. It seems like he likes the idea, until a lightbulb goes off. His mind sparking with an idea, one he is now just thinking of.
"I know a man who will raise our beloved daughter with care, and protect her." He turns to his wife, who's face is coated with pure confusion.
"He use to be a soldier who served this kingdom with great loyalty. He reached the rank of Lieutenant, now he's retired. Starting a relaxed life, with his farm, his wife, and..." The King pauses his explanation, thinking.
"And...and his daughter!" The King blurts out, slightly scaring everyone in the room. Then, suddenly the Queen understood what her husband was getting at.
She smiles at her husband's decision, and nods, giving her permission on this plan. The fairies are confused, looking at each other for the answer.
"Listen closely," The King leans in, almost at a whisper.
"Just follow the instructions I give you, and you'll find this farm."

You didn't understand what was happening, it's in the middle of the night. As you stand by your mother, rubbing the sleep out of your eyes. A puppy wolf clasped in your grasp, holding it close to your chest.
Three cloaked figures, all woman, who are all short. Your father bows, your mother curtsy. You still tired, only yawn, still trying to adjust your eyes to the moonlight.
Your father gives you a small nudge, clearing his throat. "(Y/N)." He starts, sternness coating his voice. "Show respect, it's the good fairies."
You give a little nod, giving the fairies a small bow of your own. Your parents let them in, offering tea and biscuits. They talk, adult stuff.
While the guests walked in, you were tasked on watching the baby that tagged along with them. You shouldn't let a three year-old watch over a baby, but your father insisted that you're responsible.
You stared, having no idea what to do. The wolf pup came into view, sniffing her face. You playfully shoved it's face away. "No, Hudson! You shouldn't get in her face, you might wake her." You whisper.
The pup nods, it's big fluffy auburn tail wagging. The conversation between the adults went on for another hour, before the guests excused themselves to leave.
They left the baby with your family, you stared at your parents, stunned by this new discovery. "S-She's my sister now..?"
The floor creaked as your father bent down to your height, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder.
"The situation is complicated. You're too young to understand, as you get older you'll start pick up the pieces. For now, this baby is a new member of the family."
You don't ask further, just got to wait for the future. "What's her name?"
Giving a reassuring smile, your mother takes your new baby sister from your grasp, Hudson yelping happily.
"Her name will be Briar Rose."

The years go by as you grow up beside Aurora, or as you know her as Rose. Growing up to be such a beautiful woman, despite only being sixteen.
Having such a refined face, slim but curvy figure. Beautiful blonde hair that rivals the sun, and such bright, colored red lips. Purple eyes that look like lavender, yup; she's definitely a princess.
Knowing you were being raised beside the princess you're supposed to be on your knees for is mind-boggling. It's a secret, and will be kept a secret until her sixteenth birthday.
Where she'll go back to her kingdom, her parents. And marry a prince she's never met, forget she was raised by a peasant family and move past it.
Everytime you think about it, it hurts more and more. It's getting close, and you're still preparing yourself for your goodbyes. It's not going as you planned, you got up early by your father's yelling.
You yawn, stretching as you make your way downstairs. Feeling every knot in your muscles loose, every bone crack under movement.
You stop by Rose's door, brows frowning. You're really going to miss her, it hurts more knowing you'll probably won't see her again.
A head nudges your hand, you glance down to see auburn fur between your fingers. Hudson let's out a pitiful whine, evergreen eyes glossing with sadness.
You give him an sympathetic expression. "I know buddy, but she doesn't belong with us. She's a princess, she belongs to be with her Prince Charming. Not a peasant family, living on a farm."
He whines again, before following you outside. The sun shines bright, making you squint at the sudden brightness.
You find your father cutting wood, he wipes his brow with the sleeve of his shirt, sweat drenching him for head to toe.
He sighs, tossing you the axe he was just using. "You're late. You still have to clean the stables, you know?" You roll your eyes, shoving your old man to take his place.
"I'm not late, just slept in for a little longer." You say back, bringing your arms up before bringing them down with force, cutting the chunk of the log in half.
"Told you stop staying up late and skipping pebbles, is Rose up?" You huff through your nose, tossing the cut wood off. "She should be getting up in any minute." Replacing the cut wood with a fresh chunk, repeating the process.
Your father walks off, back into the house not before ruffling your hair. You blow a strand off your face, it's tickling your nose.
Chunking another freshly cut log, the sound of a wooden window opens. You glance up, hearing humming from that same direction.
There she is, in all her glory. Just in a simple dress, dusting the window sill as she let's the sunshine into her bedroom.
Her humming stops, bringing her eyes to look down at you. Cutting wood and starting to sweat, the wolf beside you barks.
She giggles, leaning against the sill; chin resting in her palm. "Doing wood work again?" You roll your eyes, grabbing another log.
"How about you come down here and cut? I think you'll be a natural at it." Rose gives another playful giggle, throwing the dusting cloth over her shoulder.
"Sorry. I'm the lady of the house, you do all the outside work." Turning her back to you. You give a dreamy sigh, she's too blessed for this world.
Hudson tilts his head, narrowing his eyes at you. You give a puzzle look. "What? I'm just admiring her beauty, okay?" He huffs though his nose, still having his eyes narrowed at you.
After finishing your father's duty. You go over to the stables, shoulders and upper arms sore from your pervious actions. A bucket of water in one hand, the other one stuffed in your trousers.
The horse snorts, whipping it's mane with it's head movement. You yawn, opening the gate before closing it.
"Good morning to you too, Jonathan." You give off a sarcastic tone, the light brown horse only snorts at you more, jerking it's head away from you.
You're not surprised. He always does this to you, it's like you two have a love-hate relationship. One day he can tolerate you, the next he wants to stomp the hooves out of you.
He loves Rose though. He prefers if it's her feeding him, or brushing him. He just likes her more. You brush off his attitude, going to see if he has any water.
Dumping the bucket full of water, still in your crouched position; you give him a friendly pat on the thigh, expecting him to kick you in the back. "You got water now, buddy."
He neighs at you, but not doing anything else. You shake that off too, getting off the ground. You're met with Rose standing behind you, as you turn around to face her.
You jump a little, the back of your legs hitting Hudson's body; stopping you from falling. You fix yourself, brushing off any dirt and hay.
"Jeez, can't you warn a fellow? Anyways, why are you carrying the shawl with you? Walking though the woods again?"
Closing the gate to the stables, she smiles at you, a gentle one. Nudging you with the basket, you look at her. "I'm going berry picking, again."
You nod, throwing the bucket somewhere; you'll pick it up later. "I thought you picked berries yesterday." She makes a face, one that says 'yes, I did'.
You say one word. "Parents." She gives one quick nod, you look around. Making sure your parents aren't looking at you two.
"Want me to tag along?" Another smile comes across her face, making herself more beautiful.
"Your invitation is well accepted."

The woods is always quiet, not much to expect. You use to remember, late nights when you felt troubled. You'd find a lake and skips pebbles, it's a great distraction.
Little Rose had followed you out without you noticing. She was scared, every little noise or creek spooked her. Pitiful whimpers left her lips, clutching your shirt with all the force she had.
Her body trembled. She was young, you expected her to be scared. You use to be too, until your old man showed you the beauty of the woods during nightfall.
You did the exact same thing he did, bringing her to the lake you always go to and showed her what made the woods not so scary. Every since then, she admits you showing her that night how pretty the woods can be. Is the only reason why she loves them so much.
Rose's humming brought such a comforting aura to the atmosphere. You watched her dress twirled as she did, doing light spins.
Her vocals bring the creatures of the woods together, following you two along your trail. Hudson walks along with you, almost falling asleep to Aurora's singing.
Once upon a dream, huh? You question, listening carefully to the lyrics. Trying to not get distracted by her beautiful vocal skills, you do hear her sing in the shower when you do walk by.
You guys stop by a tree stamp, animals all gathering around her sitting silhouette. You stand and watch, how all these animals are all familiar with her. Guess you know why she spends so much time outside.
"(Y/N)." She calls out, eyes drawn downwards as she strokes Hudson's fur. "Yeah, something wrong?" She smiles, finally looking up at you.
"Do you dream of your one true love?" You scoff at the question, subconsciously rolling your eyes. True love? Love at first sight? Prince Charming? Happily ever after?
You don't believe in those fairy tales. You don't sit around and dream about romance, waiting for it. You rather work your ass off, trying to keep yourself alive than dream of some fantasy that won't suddenly happen.
You didn't mean to look like or sound like a jerk. But, these topic always annoyed you. Especially the happily ever after ending, not everyone gets a happy ending. Just like you and Aurora.
She's about to be married to some man she has not met, and you're about to lose her forever. Right after you find out you love her more than just a sister.
"No. I don't dream of fantasy that won't happen. You have to put effect into life, Rose. You can't just dream of it, then proof! It's all suddenly real."
Her pretty face drops, eyebrows drawn downwards. A frown on her face, you didn't mean to come off as harsh as you did.
But, suddenly her face brightens up. "I heard that if you dream of it more than once, it'll become true." Her face. Oh god, her eyes. Filled with hope, with innocence.
She's been sheltered her whole life, naive to how the real world works. It's your turn to frown, you don't want to ruin the girl's innocence. But, once she becomes Queen. She's going to see how war can be devastating, how truly cruel the real world is.
She let's out a grasp, then everything goes silent. Hearing the grass crunch under her bare feet, she's once again standing in front of you. Soft, comforting energy aluminizing off of her.
The shawl she always wears to cover her hair when out the house, tossed onto her resting spot; the basket pushed aside too. "Ever tried dancing before?"
The question throws you off. No, you don't know how to dance. You're a peasant, usually you guys aren't taught anything about dancing. Or anything remotely close to royalty.
"Um..." You stammered, why was this so hard to answer? Maybe, cause she's in front of your face and you can smell the scent of flowers.
"No. Never danced before." Her face brightens again, her smiles could always bring you into a better mood.
"Then, come here. I shall teach you how to properly dance." She gives you a small curtsy, as if you're a prince from the neighboring kingdoms.
You scratch behind your neck, looking towards the animals for any guidance. All of them have their own happy expression, birds chirping exciting at the scene unfolding.
The owl hooting, the squirrel squealing or squeaking. Guess the creatures of the forest can't help, you sigh giving your neck a tender massage before bowing.
You two make eye contact, Aurora's eyes having nothing but love in them, purple irises coated with playfulness but at the same time, love.
They're gentle. Everything about her was gentle, her voice. Her looks, her touch. Giggles fill your eardrums, bringing yourself back to reality.
You watch as Rose rises back to her feet, you do the same. Following whatever she's doing. You believe where this is going, memories from your childhood flashing.
You never read fairy tales to bed, found them irrelevant and it didn't help you sleep at all. But, Aurora loved them. You use to read them to her before lights out, you were amused how her face would light up at the mention of a prince.
She would ask the same question, every night. "When will my Prince Charming come?" You'd shrugged, you just wanted to please the four year-old and go to bed.
"He'll come eventually. He'll come at unexpected time of your life." Her small lips would curve into the biggest grin ever, she'd kiss your cheek goodnight and toss herself on her side dramatically.
You've read that one particular fairy tale over again and again. You know what happens at the ball, the prince personally asks the princess for a dance.
You stretch a hand out, an arm behind your back. You put on your most charming smile, trying to get into character and not feel so ridiculous.
"May I have this dance, your Highness?" You glance behind to see how the animals are holding up, mocking you that's for sure.
The squirrel impersonates you, showing your stiff posture. Squeaking in squirrel language, animals laugh. Hudson isn't even helping either, sitting there, nodding his head.
You kick a pebble lightly in their direction. Hitting the little furry creature that's mocking you.
You turn your attention back to the blonde, hoping the squirrel won't drop a acorn on your head.
"Yes, you may. My handsome prince." You feel your cheeks heat up at the statement. It's practice, for when the real thing happens for her.
She breaks the space between you two, making your already stiff body, stiffen more. She giggles, one hand grabbing yours.
Warm. Palms colliding well with each other, fingers intertwined. Her hand fit perfect in yours, found one missing puzzle piece.
"That's it, you got it. Now, just put your other one on my hip." You gulped, placing your hand where she instructed you to put it.
Smiling, she adjusts her position. "Now, just follow the rhythm." You give a quick nod. The dancing starts, you're a little uncoordinated.
Looking down just to make sure you didn't step on her. A little bit more adjustment and getting use to, you feel a little bit more comfortable.
Following how her body sways with her humming. You give her a little spin which get fits of giggles spilling from her lips.
You lose track of time, lost in paradise with Rose. The dancing, the singing. This was everything you dreamed of, just before she walks out of your life.
Resting her head against your shoulder, staring at the castle in the distance. You smile, trying to keep your emotions in tack.
"We should start heading back. Mom and paps got a surprise for you." She gasps, excitement and curiosity coursing though her veins.
She quickly grabs her stuff, hand still in yours. As she drags you back to the house, almost bouncing on the heels of her feet.
********
The reaction she had wasn't what you expected.
The three fairies you saw the night they dropped Rose off. Had came back to take her back to her true home, your parents broke the news to her.
She's a princess, by birth. She was never a peasant, was only raised by your family to hide away from Maleficent.
You two were never blood-related sisters. Everything hit her all at once, Aurora didn't know how to handle this. All of this was too much, she turned to you for comfort.
A part of her wishing she's just dreaming, she's in some kind of trance. She just needs to wake up, gripping your shirt with force.
Begging you to slap her, to shake her. To do something to wake her up from this horrible dream. You shake your head, a frown visible on your face.
"...This isn't a dream. You're Princess Aurora, not Rose. You're from Royal descent, not lowly commoner blood." Stroking her hair to try and calm her down, you'll try your best; even when you're hurting too.
"It's okay. You'll finally meet your true love you've told me about in your dreams. Like you always say, 'If you dream of it more than once, it'll come true.' You'll meet your Prince Charming from those books."
But, she suddenly lets out a frustrated grunt. Shaking her head against your chest, before shoving herself off you.
Her body suddenly falling cold, lacking the warmth your body always provided when she's close.
"No! No! I didn't ask for this! What I have now is perfect! I want you by my side forever! I don't want you there for sixteen years then suddenly just vanish!"
You let her go, not stopping her from her emotional rant. It was out of Rose's character, but you understand. You too would be upset to hear all this new information.
She starts crying, you want to do nothing but comfort her. Before you can approach her, she dashes up the stairs to her room.
The fairies reach out, you stop them. You know what their trying to do.
"No. It's best to just give her time. Let her process the information that has been given to her."
Everyone nods, feeling but sympathy for Aurora.
You still stare in the direction she ran up, disappearing into the hallway, into her room.
You didn't expect anything like this happening.
