I woke up feeling lightheaded, and sore, everywhere. I rubbed my forehead, and stared out the window— the day was too bright. I checked the time on my phone, it read 10:30 AM. I overslept!
What even happened yesterday? I can't really remember. How did I get home? The only thing I remember was taking a drink Jae got for me, and I guess I was unconscious after that drink.
I got off my bed and stretched like rubber band, then I did some yoga exercises Makayla suggested for me. My door crept open and Damilola walked in, holding a cup of coffee. She didn't even knock— whatsoever.
"Can't you knock?" I snapped at her. She dropped the cup of coffee on my desk, "I brought you coffee." I looked at the coffee, then I directed my vision to her. She folded her arms and glared at me.
"Where did you go yesterday?" I eyed her from head to toe with a disgusted look plastered on my face.
"Church! I told you already."
"Well, today is Sunday and you didn't accompany us to church. Dad and I just returned from first service."
"So? I'm not feeling well." She chuckled and walked closer to me.
"That's what I told dad when he asked about you."
"Where is this conversation going please?" I questioned her impatiently. She was getting on my nerves already.
"Well, I didn't know Jae Paul accompanied you to church," she smirked. "And oh!" She exclaimed, touring my room. "I didn't know you wore a bikini out yesterday."
I blinked in surprise, but I didn't let Damilola see how guilty I was. I managed to hold a straight face. "Erm, I don't understand-"
"Oh you do!" She cut me off. "You understand what I'm talking about and you've got some serious explaining to do."
"Damilola please!" My tone, angered. "I'm not in the mood for rubbish, get to the point already! What do you know?" I grabbed her arm tightly. She narrowed her eyes to my hand that held her arm, then she threw my hand away.
"Don't forget, I'm not your mate!" She warned me sternly. Since when did Damilola start acting strict? What rubbish is this naw?
"You've started hanging out with bad company, bah?"
"I-"
"You should be thanking your stars that I didn't report you to daddy. Jae Paul brought you home yesterday, and you were drunk. He handed me your bag and belongings then he left. Inside your bag, I found the clothes you wore out of the house yesterday."
I became speechless and flabbergasted. I was done for! So senior Jae brought me home last night after the party? Thank God it wasn't daddy that opened the door, my life would have ended last night!
"Anita, why are you acting like this? Since when did you start moving with bad gangs? Eh? I remember the day I saw you and Makayla talking to Megan in the cafeteria, Joy and I were taken aback by your demeanour that day. Why do you want to involve yourself in their messy lives? Dad is doing everything he can to make sure you come out with the best, and you're just taking his efforts for granted-"
"Look, I don't need your advice! Please keep them to yourself and make use of them. And also, don't you dare tell daddy about this else-"
"Else what? What will you do?" She questioned me, walking closer to me. She pointed her index finger at me, "If you don't behave yourself Anita, I won't hesitate to report you to daddy."
How dare she threaten me?
Damilola is acting too smart despite her worthless status. I'll have to put her in her place. "Go ahead, report me. And watch me expose your scholarship to everyone at school!" She was knocked off her feet by my threat. She sputtered and I grinned.
I just hit the bullseye!
"Anita, when can we finally be sisters?" She asked, a tear drop falling out of her eye.
"Never! We, can never be sisters. Do you want to know why?" I asked her, and she looked paled. "Because you caused my mother's death, your adoption into this family, is nothing but a never-ending curse!"
"Please, Anita, don't say that-" she cried out, coming closer to me. I shoved her away from me.
"I hate you, Damilola! You're aware of that, so don't ever try to act like my sister again!" She wiped her tears and sniffled in evident pain. But I didn't give a damn, she killed my mom!
"If you excuse me, I have a yoga sesh to finish, so get out!" She stood still, speechless, while staring at me. She must've blinked one thousand times in astonishment. "I said get out!" I snapped further and she flinched. I grabbed her arm and walked her to the door. I opened the door and threw her out before releasing a disgusted hiss and shutting my door.
Rubbish!
My eyes met the coffee on my table, so I grabbed it and opened my door. Damilola was still standing there in tears.
"You forgot your coffee," I splashed the hot content on her, causing her to scream. I laughed, smashing the coffee mug on the floor, before shutting my door.

Mitchew!
I hate Mondays eh!
I sluggishly walked to the assembly and stood in my class, SS 2, line. I grumpily folded my arms and watched the juniors conduct the assembly.
"Why you dey vex?" Felix King, my classmate, whispered to me. I gave him a bombastic side eye, and he backed away with a smirk. The national anthem was sang, so they proceeded to singing the school's anthem...
"At Westwood High Academy, a place full of star students.
We thrive to be the best, and be obedient.
At Westwood High Academy, we borne scholars and 'A+' students.
We pray to God Almighty to lead and guide us through.
As we excel, as the future leaders of tomorrow..."
Of course I stood there, unamused, not participating. Technically, most seniors weren't participating, but the juniors were so active like their lives depended on the assembly. After all the rubbish was done on the assembly, we were dismissed. But the juniors didn't let us go without dismissing ourselves with a marching song. The teachers agreed and we were forced to sing a marching song.
I think Ms Sade, our civic teacher, must've noticed my unenthusiasm and recalcitrance during the assembly, so she asked me to sing a marching song.
I cursed her inside my head and hissed inwardly. I'm just hissing at everything and everybody today.
"We're waiting madam," she added, which gained infamous snickering from the juniors. I wanted to slap all of them at once, but the teachers were present.
"The day is bright, it's bright and fair..." I sang out, and the juniors concluded the song with, "Mama jollof rice!"
We marched into our various classes. I entered my class angered, and the stupid classmates I have were just annoying me with their noise. Makayla arrived, and she came to seat with me, since we are seatmates.
"Hey girl!" She greeted. "What happened to you yesterday? You just left me."
"See, I don't even know, I can't remember sef. To make matters worse, Damilola found out about everything."
"No way, your snooty sister?"
"Who else?"
"Well, yesterday, a criminal attacked senior Caesar at the party, and threw him into the ocean."
"What?"
"Yes!"
"What did you do about that?"
"What was I supposed to do? A gun was shot, so I ran away like the rest people at the party."
"Speaking of Caesar, I saw you two acting all gooey gooey with each other yesterday, what's up?" She blushed at my statement, and covered her face.
"Ayyyy! Dorime!"
My classmates noise became unbearable, so I yelled out. "Can you guys shut up! You're making noise abeg!"
I received alot of eye rolls and hisses from the girls. "Oversabi," Temitope Adenuga, remarked rudely.
"What did you say?" I stood up abruptly to attack Tope, but Makayla held me back.
"Ignore her, she's a troublemaker."
"Are you the owner of our lips?" Asher Emmanuel, one fine boy in my class, asked. He might be fine, but I'm not interested. He's also tall, but nah.
Some guys are tall in my class, but they are so annoying and they lack sense. E.g; Felix King, Tyler Ogbe (The finest boy in our class and this one has sense, so he's an exception and he's tall) Maverick Adehi, Liam Tadese(the silent killer in our class, so he's not annoying, he's very boring and he's tall) and Andre Paulson. They're tall, but senseless. While some boys are short, and more senseless.
I ignored them and faced Makayla, "You were saying?"
"Well, Caesar asked me out yesterday and I said yes!"
"What?!"
"Yeah girl, then we made out and-"
"But girl, what about Segun? Have you forgotten him?"
"Mitchew, that one no get level like Caesar. Caesar is rich and popular, whereas Segun, he's a scholarship student so he's poor."
"Hmm, it is well oo. So what are you going to do about him?"
"Break up with him of course. I need to end things with him inorder to secure my future with Caesar on the school's popularity pyramid."
"Ehen, you're something else oo."
"Abi na."
"How far with Megan? Did you discuss with her, about me joining the GPC?"
"Erm," Makayla dragged. "I will, I'll discuss it with her today." I stared at her suspiciously, and nodded in agreement.
