"I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions"

I sighed inwardly as I made my way to the computer lab. I needed to work on my assignment, and I was already running behind schedule.
As I turned a corner, I spotted an empty computer terminal and quickened my pace. But just as I was about to reach it, my path was blocked by a familiar figure.
Zainab.
I groaned inwardly, trying to hide my frustration. "Excuse me," I said, attempting to step around her.
But Zainab was having none of it. She shifted her weight, blocking my path once again. "Yemisi, we need to talk," she said, her voice dripping with an air of superiority.
I let out a deep sigh, trying to rein in my patience. "What is it?"
"You're acting like it wasn't because of you Felix broke up with me!" she blurted like a fool. "If you hadn't been flirting with him all the time, maybe he wouldn't have lost interest in me. But no, you just had to go and bat your eyelashes at him, abi? You just had to go and make him think you're so much better than me."
I shook my head, and a bit of laughter escaped my lips. "Wow. You're funny oo. I'm going to say this once, so listen attentively. I. Did. Not. Steal. Felix."
"You think you're so innocent, don't you?" she sneered. "But I know the truth. I know you've been trying to steal Felix away from me all along."
"Are you mad?" I yapped, eyeing her from head to toe. "What kind of drama are you trying to stir up? Isn't it too early for unnecessary drama?"
"Will you shut up!"
I laughed. I laughed so hard that Zainab furrowed her brows in turmoil.
"Stop laughing!" she demanded. "What's so funny?"
I wiped tears from my eyes, still chuckling. "You," I said, my voice trembling with laughter. "You're what's funny. You're so busy accusing me of flirting with Felix, but the truth is, he broke up with you because you're boring. You're stale. You're so predictable, it's like watching paint dry."
"How dare-"
"Hold it!" I cut her off, gesturing my palm to halt her. "Don't even think about trying to come at me with that 'how dare you' nonsense. You're the one who started this, Zainab. You're the one who came at me with baseless accusations and insults."
"Don't you-"
"Shut up, I'm not done," I interrupted her again. "You can't handle the fact that Felix moved on from you, so you're trying to blame me. But the truth is, I'm not even on his radar. You are just a footnote in his history book."
Zainab's eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, I thought she was going to hit me. But then, her face crumpled, and she burst into tears.
I rolled my eyes, feeling a twinge of satisfaction. "Cry me a river," I said, turning to walk away, but a hand held my wrist.
It wasn't Zainab, it was Makayla and her other entourage, Temitope!
"Mitchew," I hissed. "Leave my hand."
Makayla smiled sweetly, releasing my hand. I attempted to walk away, but she blocked my path.
"O-oh-oooh!" I grumbled. "What is it nau?!"
Makayla's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with malice. "I just wanted to say that I'm impressed," she said sacarstically. "I've never seen anyone manage to ruin two relationships at once. You must be really proud of yourself, Yemisi."
"What are you talking about?" I asked dryly.
Makayla snorted. "We all know what happened between Felix and Zainab. And now, you're trying to make a move on Tyler? Please. You're just trash and a pathetic loser."
I felt my anger rising, but I tried to keep my temper in check. "Are you done?"
"You're a toxic waste dump! You destroy everyone around you. Felix, Zainab... who's next?"
"Are you done?" I asked again, managing to look at her ugly face.
Makayla huffed, opening her mouth to say something, but no words came out. I hissed, and step sided her, but she pushed me back.
"What's your problem?!" I yelled angrily, gaining attention from other students.
Makayla smirked, throwing my computer notebook out of my hand. She eyed me, and turned to walk away, but I squeezed her arm.
"Pick it up."
She scrunched her face up at me and tried to extricate her arm from my grasp. "Let me go, Yemisi!"
"I asked you to pick it up, so pick the book up!"
Makayla's eyes widened in pain as I applied more pressure. She yelped again, trying to struggle free. Zainab and Temitope, who had been watching the scene unfold, stepped forward to intervene.
"Yemisi, stop!" Zainab cried, trying to grab my arm.
But I shot her a glare, my eyes flashing with warning. Zainab and Temitope hesitated, then backed off, leaving Makayla to fend for herself.
Makayla's face contorted in agony as I continued to apply pressure.
"PICK IT UP!"
"Okay, okay!" she finally cried, surrendering. "I'll pick it up!"
I released my grip on her arm, and Makayla stumbled forward, gasping in relief. She bent down, wincing in pain, and picked up my computer notebook. She handed it to me, her eyes welling up with tears.
I took the notebook from her, my expression unyielding. "Don't ever touch my things again."
I turned and walked away, leaving Makayla to nurse her wounded arm and bruised ego.

I sat in the computer room, surrounded by the quiet hum of machines and the occasional rustle of papers. My fingers flew across the keyboard as I worked on my assignment, the words on the screen blurring together as my mind began to wander.
What's going on with my mom?
She couldn't even sleep last night. I just happened to see her sitting on the couch in the living room, wearing her PJs.
She looked so lost in thought, her eyes staring blankly into space. I wanted to ask her what was wrong, but I didn't want to get yelled at.
Just then, my ring slipped off my finger, clattering against the tile floor. I groaned inwardly, not wanting to leave my seat. But I couldn't just leave my favorite ring lying there.
I pushed my chair back and stood up, my eyes scanning the floor for the glint of silver. That's when I felt it - a pair of arms wrapping tightly around my waist, pulling me into a warm hug.
I let out a startled yelp, my heart racing as I spun around, ready to push whoever it was away. But my eyes met a familiar smile, and my tension reduced.
"David!" I exclaimed, laughing. "What are you doing?!"
His grip on my waist tightened, sending shivers down my spine.
"Just giving you a warm hug," he whispered, his breath tickling my ear. I rolled my eyes, trying to play it cool, but my heart was racing.
Gawwwwddd!
"David, we're in the computer room," I reminded him, trying to wriggle free from his grasp. But he just chuckled and held me closer.
"I know. I just couldn't resist."
His grip on my waist was still firm, and I could feel the warmth of his hands seeping through my clothes.
My heart was racing, and I couldn't help but feel a flutter in my chest. I tried to tell myself it was just an infatuation, but deep down, I knew it was something more.
I felt... happy. Happy that David was touching me. It was a feeling I couldn't quite explain, but it was there.
"David, seriously," I said, trying to sound stern. "Let me go."
David just chuckled and pulled me closer. "Not yet. First explain to me, why you didn't have lunch with me, but with Tyler and his friends instead?"
I had completely forgotten that I was supposed to meet David for lunch. "Oh, David, I'm so sorry," I said, trying to pull away from him. But he held me firm.
"Why did you forget?" he asked, his voice teasing, but with a hint of hurt underneath.
"I don't know," I admitted. "I just got caught up with Tyler and his friends, and I totally spaced out our plans."
David raised an eyebrow. "You spaced out our plans for Tyler?"
"No, it wasn't like that," I shook my head, feeling a laugh bubble up. "I just... forgot. I'm really sorry, David."
David's expression softened, and he smiled. "It's okay. I know you didn't mean to forget. But next time, remind me to remind you, okay?"
I laughed. "Deal."
David smirked, and then, to my surprise, he leaned in and kissed me lightly on the cheek.
My heart skipped and I couldn't help but wonder what that kiss meant. Was it just a friendly gesture, or was there something more to it?
Before I knew it, he planted another kiss on my neck.
Ewo!
My eyes widened in surprise as his lips brushed against my skin, sending shivers down my spine. This was definitely not a friendly gesture.
I tried to pull away, but David's arms were still wrapped around me, holding me in place. "David, what are you doing?" I whispered.
"I'm making up for lost time."
I felt a flutter in my chest as I realized that David might have feelings for me beyond friendship. And to my surprise, I found myself feeling the same way.
So, I Iet him do whatever he wants.
I let out a soft sigh, surrendering to the moment. David's lips trailed kisses along my neck, and his hands caressed my waist, pulling me closer.
This was uncharted territory for us, but I was eager to explore these newfound feelings.
David's eyes met mine. "Yemisi," he called out lowly, as if asking for permission.
I nodded, my lips parting slightly. David's lips brushed against mine, a gentle, tender kiss that left me breathless.
But he didn't stop there. He deepened the kiss, his tongue tracing the outline of my lips, as his hands caressed my waist, pulling me closer, and his fingers splayed across my hips.
David's hands began to wander, his fingers tracing the curve of my neck, sending tingles down my spine. His lips were warm and insistent, demanding a response from me.
It felt weird, and my body was responding to David's touch. It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before.
Suddenly, the door to the computer room swung open, and we sprang apart, our hearts racing. My face heat up with embarrassment as I turned to see who had interrupted us.
Ugh!
It was Tyler, mitchew.
His eyes scanned the room before landing on us. For a moment, his expression was neutral, but then his eyes narrowed slightly, and his jaw clenched.
"Yemisi," he said, his voice a little tighter than usual. "I've been looking all over for you. We have physics class in ten minutes."
I nodded, feeling a little confused by Tyler's sudden seriousness. "I'll be there."
Tyler's eyes flicked to David, and for a moment, I saw a flash of something - anger, maybe, or jealousy? But then his expression smoothed out, and he nodded at David.
"Hey, man."
David nodded back, his eyes never leaving Tyler's face. I felt a little tension in the air, but I couldn't quite put my finger on what was going on.
I grabbed my books and cleared my throat, trying to break the awkward tension. "We should get going."
Tyler nodded, his eyes still fixed on David. "I'll walk with you."
David's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he just watched as Tyler and I walked out of the computer room together.
We walked down the hallway, I felt like something was off. Tyler was being really quiet, and I could sense a weird tension emanating from him.
"Is everything okay?" I asked, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, everything's fine," he said. "I just. . . didn't expect to see you and David like that."
"Oh," I said. "That? We were just studying."
Tyler raised an eyebrow. "Studying?"
I nodded, shrugging my shoulders nonchalantly. "Yeah. That's all."
"With your lips?" he spat and I flinched. Tyler's tone caught me off guard. I hadn't expected him to react like this.
"What's the matter?"
He sighed, running his hand down his face. "Nothing. Just forget it, Yemisi."
"No, I want to know. Tell me what seems to be the problem?" I questioned, my tone rising.
Tyler's eyes narrowed, his voice taking on a confrontational tone. "Is this what you came to school for, Yemisi? To hook up with David?"
"Hook up ke? Are you stupid?" I bawled. "What's your business sef? Just because I've started talking to you small small, you want to start acting like my mother! Stay in your limits Tyler, don't cross your boundaries."
I turned to walk away, but Tyler's hand shot out, grasping my wrist. He spun me back around, his eyes blazing with intensity.
"Don't walk away from me!" he growled.
"Hello?" I waved my other hand. "Are you alright upstairs? Are you mentally okay? Leave my hand jor!"
I tried to pull my wrist free, but Tyler's grip was firm. He pulled me closer, his body inches from mine.
"What's wrong with you?" he whispered, his breath hot against my skin. I furrowed my brows in anger, still wiggling my wrist.
In one swift motion, Tyler pinned me to the wall, and pressed his body against mine. I was mad, and my heart was racing so I couldn't even yell properly.
"Tyler," I whispered.
"What?" he whispered back, getting closer to my face. At this point, I began to panic and I swallowed hard.
"Let me go."
"No," he stated, and before I knew it, he kissed me. It was a gentle, teasing kiss, but it sent shivers down my spine.
I tried to push him away, but Tyler's hands were braced on either side of my head, trapping me against the wall.
"Tyler, stop," I whispered, trying to break the kiss.
But Tyler just deepened the kiss. I felt myself melting into him, my resistance weakening.
No!
His lips were fierce, demanding, and yet, somehow, gentle. It was like he was pouring his entire soul into the kiss.
Just as I was starting to get lost in the kiss, Tyler suddenly pulled back.
"See you in class," he said, his voice devoid of emotion, devoid of passion.
I was left standing there, my lips still tingling from the kiss, my mind reeling with confusion.
He didn't even look at me. He just turned and walked away, leaving me standing there feeling bewildered and confused.
I watched him go, my eyes fixed on his back as he disappeared. I couldn't believe it. One minute we were kissing, the next he was walking away like nothing had happened.
What was wrong with him? Why did he do that?
I was so mad, I wanted to yell.
I took a deep breath and shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. Tyler is a fool, just a reminder.

🌺TEASER🌺
Francis's expression changed as he eyed me from head to toe. His gaze was so cold and calculated. "Be like say you don forget who your mate be. It's been long since you've received slap, abi?"
I suddenly felt scared as I realized I had crossed the line. Francis's eyes seemed to bore into my soul, reminding me of the harsh realities of our life.
He stood up, taking a long drag from his cigar, as he walked towards me. His eyes seemed to gleam with a malevolent intensity, and I was so scared.
Who sent me to talk oo?!
Michael also stood up, his eyes fixed anxiously on Francis. He took a step forward, as if to intervene, his hands held out in a placating gesture. "Brother Francis, please spare her today."
But Francis didn't listen to him, he got closer to me and before I knew it. . .
Tah!
