"Scars are not signs of weakness, but maps of where you've been and how strong you've become."

                  Y E M I S I

I took another look in the mirror, I looked okay. I actually managed to pick the perfect uniform that fits me, this time the skirt isn't a canopy.

Thank God.

"Is it okay? Do you like it?" The designer asked, packing up the other uniforms I tried out.

"Yeah, this one is fine," I muttered, checking out my ass in the mirror. Looks alright. I wore the black jacket to complete my look.

"So you're good to go." I nodded, but the designer kept staring at me, like she was expecting something.

That gave me the opportunity to study her facials. She has a weird nose, and her face looked pressed. I mean, who gets a facelift and still ends up looking like a squished pancake? I stifled a giggle, not wanting to be rude. . . yet.

"Uh-huh," I said, trying to sound nonchalant. "You can just, uh, send me the bill." I glanced at her name tag. "Ms... Okeke." I pronounced it wrong on purpose, just to see if she'll correct me. She doesn't.

The designer nodded, still staring at me with an expectant expression. I raised an eyebrow, wondering what she was waiting for. A tip? A compliment? A confession of how much I adore her... unique sense of style?

Not. Gonna. Happen.

"Do you need me to tell my mom to increase the money or something?"

She finally cleared her throat. "I was expecting a thank you."

Unexpectedly, I guffawed. Thank you ke? No be only thank you, na bless you. Mitchew.

"Oh, okay." With that, I sashayed out of the room, without giving her that thank you she was looking for.

Outside, my step fell inline with my tour guide, Felix. He was waiting for me outside, and now he was going to take me to the classroom.

"I'm ready, let's go," I said, shouldering my backpack. For some strange reason, he didn't move. He kept staring at me, standing still.

Is he okay?

I couldn't help but eye him from head to toe as he stared at me. His gaze traces from my head, down to my hips.

"What is it?" I snapped.

He recovered from his exploration, and blinked, trying to come up with an excuse. "Erm. . . I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. . . Sorry."

Mitchew. Weirdo.

"Oya, let's go," I ordered, already walking ahead.

As I walked down the hallway, I noticed that I was getting more than a few stares from the other students. I rolled my eyes inwardly. What's their problem?

"Who's she?"

"Omo, she fine die!"

"Is she new?"

"Makayla don get replacement o."

"Oh my gosh, she's so pretty."

"This one fine pass our legendary Megan. Queen of bitches."

I just shook my head and kept walking. I kept my head held high and my expression neutral, daring anyone to come and ask me what my name is or something weird.

I'll just give them that bitchy attitude.

"Seems like everyone's attention is on you," Felix said, smiling at me.

I raised an eyebrow at Felix, my expression unyielding. "And what's that supposed to mean?"

Felix chuckled and fell into step beside me. "It means you're the center of attention. Everyone's talking about you."

I snorted. "Please, they're probably just talking about my uniform. Or how I'm not Megan. Whoever that is."

Felix laughed. "Well, you're definitely not Megan Uwaifo. But I think it's more than that. You've got a certain... presence." I just nodded slightly and rolled my eyes at him.

We arrived at the door to the classroom, and I felt my heart jump. I've never felt so nervous in my entire life, but something about this school made me feel anxious.

Maybe it's the fact that no one knows me here. I don't have that high profile image as the queen bee and head girl, instead I'm just a new student.

"Are you ready?" I turned to Felix, taking a deep breath. He kept smiling and staring at me, which was just creepy.

"I am."

Felix swung the door open to reveal a very noisy classroom. Students were all over the place, doing what they like. Some were reading, while others were gossiping.

My eyes even met a boy and a girl making out, at the back of the class. And no one seemed to care, apparently it seemed normal to them.

"Attention guys," Felix announced, gaining everyone's full attention. Immediately, everyone stopped what they were doing and started looking at me.

Jesus Christ.

"Felix, what is it?" A girl yapped at him rudely, sitting in the midst of a group of girls. That's when my gaze fell on that resident mean girl, Makayla Kingsley. She was sitting next to the rude girl.

She sneered at me evil like, but I didn't feel intimidated at all. Instead, I stared at her back, until she gave up and drifted her eyes elsewhere.

"Temitope, calm down," Felix said, eyeing the girl who spoke rudely to him.

"Wow, this girl is fine!!!"

"Who's she?"

"I think she's new."

"But WHA doesn't allow new students in third term."

Obviously, I'm new! Have they seen me here before? Mitchew.

"See ass, ahahn."

"Omo, she get nyash o."

"Na David go chop this one first."

I heard some idiotic boys comment on my body, but I pretended not to hear.
I rolled my eyes but didn't flinch. I've dealt with guys like this before. They think they're being cute, but really, they're just being annoying and shameless.

"We have a new student in our midst," Felix continued, gesturing his hand to me. "Please, introduce yourself."

I cleared my throat, staring at everyone who had their eyes on me. Gawd, I felt so uncomfortable.

"Hi, I'm Yemisi Richard."

More murmurs filled the air, making me feel like I just spoke gibberish. After sometime, everyone became silent, and I felt so embarrassed.

"Anyway, my brother's babe. . ." Makayla said, continuing her earlier gist with her stupid friends. In no time, everyone else went back to what they were doing.

Felix smiled at me, before letting out a small sigh. With that, he walked to a seat, where a brown skinned boy sat.

Wow, what a tour guide.

I stood there, feeling so awkward and unaware of what to do next. What now?

Suddenly, the classroom door swung open, and a middle-aged man walked in with some textbooks. He was dark and bald, but not very. He wore a yellow shirt, and tucked it in his black trouser.

He looked old fashioned.

"Everyone settle down," he roared. Everyone started running and hurdling to their various seats, whereas I, had no idea where to sit.

I saw an empty chair at the middle row, so maneuvered to that seat. No one seemed to claim the seat, or call themselves my sitting partner. Well, that's good, to say the least.

"Excuse me." I titled my head to see that brown skinned boy Felix was talking to earlier.

"Yes?" I raised an eyebrow, eyeing him slightly.

It's a habit.

"I don't mean to be rude, but that seat belongs to-"

"Me."

My eyes lifted up, meeting the gaze of a light skinned boy. My eyes locked onto his, and for a moment, I forgot what we were talking about. He was... stunning. His light skin seemed to glow in the fluorescent lighting of the classroom, and his curly hair was perfectly messy. His eyes, a deep brown that seemed to see right through me, sparkled like glitter.

He smiled, and his full lips curved upwards, revealing a hint of dimples. I felt a flutter in my chest, and I quickly looked away, trying to compose myself.

"Sorry," he said, smoothly. "But you're in my seat."

I shook my head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "It's fine," I muttered, gesturing to the seat. "It's yours."

He smiled again and sat down, his eyes never leaving mine. I felt a shiver run down my spine as he leaned back in his chair, his eyes still fixed on me.

I stood up to find another seat, but his voice stopped me.

"By the way, I'm David," he said smoothly again, biting his lower lip.

My eyes widened as I made the connection. David? As in, the David those boys were talking about earlier?

Omo, the guy is drop dead gorgeous!

"I-I'm Yemi," I sputtered like a dummy. "Sorry, it's Yemisi. But you can call me Yemi for short."

He nodded, with his lips slightly parted. And gosh, I couldn't take my eyes off his lips.

I don charm, wetin pass me.

"Nice to meet you, Yemi." The way he called my name so seductively was just, ahhhhh!

"Nice to meet you too, David."

I turned, and couldn't help but open my mouth in shock. I'm used to admiring boys, but no, this one is something else.

I found another empty seat, not far from Felix's. I dropped my bag, and settled down. The teacher was already jotting down some equations on the board. We were having maths first period! Mitchew.

I reluctantly opened my bag to get my note out. I felt a light tap on my shoulder, and I couldn't help but groan.

Somebody probably wants to claim seat!

Surprisingly, it was Felix who tapped me. "What?" I bawled, on a low-key.

"Sorry," he whispered. "Just wanted to let you know that's my friend's seat, but it's fine. You can seat there, since he dosen't have a seat mate."

I scrunched my nose at him and faced the board. Again, I received another tap.

"What is it na?!" I yelled, half-expecting to see Felix, but it wasn't him.

It was. . .

"Young lady, you're disrupting my class," the bald teacher said. But I didn't pay attention to him, my gaze was plastered on the figure before me.

Tyler freaking Ogbe!

He furrowed his eyebrows at me, looking surprisingly. . .hot. Not like he was that hot o, but he looked okay.

"Shift," he demanded dryly.

What? He wants to sit with me? Hell no!

"Eh?" I creased my brows.

He groaned, running his hand down his face. "Adjust, I want to sit down, on MY seat."

I raised an eyebrow, pretending I hadn't understood him. I knew it was his seat, but my question was, why did he not react on seeing me? Instead he was asking me to shift, even when I thought he was going to chase me out of his seat.

"Adjust? What's that supposed to mean?"

"Don't play dumb, Yemisi. Move over so I can sit down."

I shrugged, not bothering to hide my disdain. "Why should I? You think I'm just going to jump up and give you my seat because you demanded it?"

Tyler's face darkened, and he slammed his palms on the desk. That gained alot of attention. When I say alot, I mean alot!

"What's going on between them?"

"Are they fighting?"

"That new girl is fighting with the head boy."

"Ahahn, how come they're talking?"

"Tyler is so fine."

I cringed at the last person's statement. Fine my foot! Tufia.

"See, don't try my patience. I'm not in the mood. This is my seat."

I smirked, enjoying the fact that I was getting under his skin. "Oh, poor Tyler. Not in the mood? Always so quick to get angry. It's really quite pathetic."

"Shut up, and move."

"Hey, hey!" The teacher's deep voice echoed. "Tyler, what's going on there? You're disrupting my class."

"Sorry, Mr Akin."

"Sit down," Mr Akin ordered.

Tyler returned his gaze to me, and he placed his books on the desk. Without warning, he dropped his weight into the chair, his hips bumping against mine. I felt a jolt of surprise as he forced himself into the seat, using his body to shove me to the side.

"Are you mad!" I protested, grabbing onto the desk to steady myself.

But Tyler just smirked, his eyes never leaving mine. He adjusted his position, and his thigh pressed against mine.

"Comfortable?" Tyler asked, his voice low and mocking.

I glared at him, trying to ignore the warmth spreading through my body. "Mitchew," I hissed, directing my attention to the board.
