"I'm not jealous, I just know I'm better."

                   M A K A Y L A

"I didn't realize I had to announce my presence to the queen of idiotic girls."

"Display your madness elsewhere, not in front of me. I'm definitely not in a good mood, and the last thing you'd want is for me to rip your uniform off your body."

This high profile I've built for myself, I would never let anyone take it from me. I know what I went through and tolerated in the past, just to become the queen bee of WestWood High Academy.

Anita, my ex best friend who now has a son, and I worked very hard to join Megan Uwaifo's clique. I even had to betray Anita at some point, just to get this title.

And now, Megan's gone! Damilola is also gone, so her position belongs to me!

And who's the queen bee now? That's right, ME! Makayla Julianna Kingsley.

I'm the head girl, resident meangirl, (on a low-key since WHA has some rules set out) and I'm also the queen bee of WestWood High Academy.

Ever since Megan left, I won the title of the most beautiful girl in senior secondary. But now, everyone's attention isn't on me anymore. Their attention is slowly drifting to a bitch who joined WHA, just yesterday!

Yemisi Richard!

That name, suddenly got my blood boiling. She's new, but I've already accustomed to hating her!

It was only her second day at our school, but I had already developed a strong aversion to her.

Everything about her annoyed me - her perfect lips, curly braided hair, her clear skin, and her confident stride. She seemed to think she owned the place, and it made my blood boil.

As she made her way to her seat, her eyes scanned the room, and for a moment, they locked onto mine. I felt a jolt of anger and quickly looked away, not wanting to give her the satisfaction of knowing she had gotten under my skin.

I muttered under my breath, "Great, just what we need. Another know-it-all who thinks she's better than me."

My friend, Temitope, who was sitting next to me, raised an eyebrow. "What's wrong, Makayla? You look like you've sucked on a lemon."

I glared at Yemisi, who was now chatting with her seatmate, Tyler Ogbe.

"It's her," I hissed. "The new girl. She thinks she's so perfect, but I can already tell she's going to be a problem."

Temitope followed my gaze and raised an eyebrow. "Wow, Makayla, you really don't like her, do you?"

I shook my head, my eyes never leaving Yemisi's face. "I don't just dislike her, Tope. I hate her. And I'm going to make sure she knows it."

"But why?"

I shot Temitope a glare, filled with rage and she gulped, lowering her head. "Our first encounter! Her courage! Her audacity! All these are enough reasons for me to pull her down. And most importantly, Tyler Ogbe."

"What about Tyler?"

"See, I don't care if I hurt your feelings. I'm not going to pretend to be interested in you just to salve your ego. That's not fair to either of us."

"Makayla, I've told you this before. And I thought I made it clear the last time, that I don't have an atom of interest in you. Accept it and move on."

"Please just get out."

I felt a stinging sensation in my eyes as I remembered the words Tyler had spoken to me the previous day. His rejection had cut deep, and I could still feel the wound throbbing with pain.

It's not like I've always loved Tyler, but I unknowingly started liking him after Caesar, my ex, got expelled.

I glared at Yemisi, my eyes burning with hatred. She was oblivious to my stare, chatting away with Tyler. And gosh, the way Tyler was staring at her!

She needs to go!

I seethed with anger, my mind racing with ways to take her down. She thought she was so perfect, so confident, but I would show her that she wasn't as invincible as she thought.

A plan began to form in my mind, a plan to destroy Yemisi's reputation and make her regret ever setting foot in our school.

"Why are you smiling?" Temitope asked. I didn't even realize I was smiling. Just the thought of ruining Yemisi made me feel elated.

"Where's Zainab?"

"I think she went to see Maverick," Temitope responded.

That slut!

"Let's go look for her. On our way, we'll stop at the basketball court," I said, already standing up.

"Why?"

Temitope too dey ask question.

"Will you shut up and follow me," I yelled at her, gaining a few stares from others. "You ask too many questions!"

She cleared her throat and stared at her fingernails in embarrassment. I hissed and headed for the door, but I stopped in my tracks when a fat girl ran into our class, panting for breath.

Everyone's attention diverted to the girl in front of the class, waiting for her to explain why she just ran into SS3 class without knocking.

"Hey, hey! Are you sick?" I heard one boy in my class lambaste the fat girl.

"Guys, come in. She's here!" The fat girl exclaimed. That's when some other juniors filed into our class room like it was a playground.

"What rubbish?" Tyler boomed, making the juniors flinch a bit. He is the head boy after all.

The juniors still didn't back out, instead they ran towards Yemisi's seat.

"Hi!"

"Omg, she looks just like her mother."

"She's so pretty."

"Is she finer than Makayla?"

"Abeg, who Makayla hep?"

My heart sank, hearing all those comments from different lips. I felt a stinging sensation in my chest as I listened to the juniors fawn over Yemisi. Their comments cut deep, making me feel like I was invisible.

Who did they think they were, comparing me to this. . .this. . .new girl? It was like they were erasing me, making me feel like I didn't exist.

In just two days o?

I glanced over at Yemisi, who was smiling and chatting with the juniors like she was the queen of the school. I felt a wave of resentment wash over me. Why did she get to be the center of attention? Why did everyone fawn over her like she was some kind of superstar?

"What's going on?" Yemisi asked, pretending like she wasn't enjoying all the attention.

Mitchew, idiot!

"We came here to confirm," the fat girl said, smiling widely.

"Confirm what?" I yapped. Alot of people started staring at me, but it didn't last long. They all averted their attention back to the star of the show. . . Yemisi!

"If she's the actress', Jackie Richard's, daughter. And fuck, she is!"

What?

Jackie Richard's daughter? The famous actress? I couldn't believe it. How come?

I stared at Yemisi, my eyes wide with shock and disbelief. She was smiling a little with the juniors, completely unaware of the storm brewing inside me.

I felt a wave of envy wash over me. Why did she get to have all the attention and adoration? Isn't Tyler's mom also an actress? No one has ever paid attention to that much, but now everyone's swooning and murmuring because Yemisi's mother is an actress.

Although, she's not just an ordinary actress, she's Jackie Richard!

I thought back to all the times I had tried to get attention and recognition at school. I had joined Megan's girl power club, participated in competitions, and even tried out for the school play. But no matter how hard I tried, I always seemed to be overshadowed by someone else.

I had to squeeze my way to get the position as head girl.

And now, Yemisi had come along and stolen the spotlight. It wasn't fair.

I turned and stormed out of the classroom, not caring who saw me or what they thought. I just needed to get away from Yemisi and her perfect, famous life.

Fool!

"Makayla, wait!"

I refused to turn back, I kept stomping away.

"Mak!"

I ignored Temitope's calls and just kept walking.

I felt a grasp on my arm, and I was spunned around instantly, and I threw my hand at Temitope. She stumbled backward, her eyes wide with shock and pain.

I stood there, my chest heaving with anger, as I watched Temitope hold her cheek. I felt a pang of guilt, but it was quickly overridden by my anger and frustration.

"What's wrong with you, Makayla?" Temitope asked. "Why did you slap me?"

"JUST SHUT UP!" I screamed, pulling my hair. Tope stayed quiet immediately, because she wouldn't dare to argue with me.

The silence that followed was deafening. Temitope took a step back, her hands raised in a defensive gesture. I was still fuming, my chest heaving with anger, my hair disheveled from pulling on it.

Temitope turned and quickly walked away, leaving me standing alone in the hallway.

I watched her go, still seething with anger. But as the silence stretched out, I began to feel a twinge of guilt. I had overreacted, and I knew it. But I couldn't bring myself to apologize, not yet. My pride was still smarting from the encounter with Yemisi, and I wasn't ready to back down.

I walked to the basketball court in search for someone, and immediately I entered the court, my eyes caught Zainab making out with David Samuel.

They sat on a bench, devouring each other shamelessly. Ugh, Zainab is such a. . .

While David is a certified fuckboy.

I cleared my throat, announcing my presence. Zainab and David quickly pulled away from each other, their faces flushed with embarrassment.

Zainab's eyes widened in surprise as she took in my presence, and she quickly scrambled to compose herself.

"Makayla, what are you doing here?" Zainab asked, trying to sound nonchalant despite the guilty look on her face.

I raised an eyebrow, my gaze flicking between Zainab and David. "I could ask you the same thing."

Zainab's face grew even redder as she glanced at David, who was watching me with a mixture of amusement and wariness.

She quickly stood up, smoothing out her clothes and trying to regain her dignity.

"I'll see you later," David said to Zainab and she blushed like mumu.

"David, can we talk?" I asked, disrupting their disgusting moment.

"Yeah, sure."

I didn't need to speak, the glare I gave Zainab was enough for her to understand. She scrammed, leaving me and David alone in the court.

I took a step closer to David, and he smirked, licking his lips. I have to admit, David is the second finest boy in senior secondary. He'd have gotten first, but Tyler Ogbe already got that role.

"What do you want to talk about?" David asked, narrowing his eyes to where it shouldn't be going.

Shameless boy.

I'm going to have to ignore the fact that he's shameless, if I want him to execute my plans. Who wouldn't fall for David's charm? Probably an idiot.

And Yemisi certainly isn't one, because I noticed the way she stared at David yesterday when he told her she was in his seat.

I'm a girl, so I could tell what was running through Yemisi's mind. And I'm going to use that to ruin her.

First, baby steps.

"I need your help," I blurted.

David creased his brows, tugging both hands in his pockets. "With?"

"I want you to make Yemisi Richard fall hopelessly in love with you."

"Eh?" he raised a brow. Gosh, he's so attractive.

Makayla, control yourself!

"After that, I want you to break her heart publicly. Break her heart however you want, just make sure it stings. I want her to be broken and helpless!"

"Wait o," David paused me, letting out a small laugh. "You're ordering me like I owe you. Why would I even do that to her?"

"You know you want to taste her, like you've done with every other girl. And at the end of the day, you dumped those girls. Do the same to Yemisi, and set your record straight."

"For your information, Yemisi isn't the only one who I haven't tasted."

"What do you mean?" I furrowed my brows, backing away slowly.

He came closer to me, and whispered in my ear. "I don't know what you taste like. . . yet!"

My heart nearly skipped a beat, and I swallowed the huge lump in my throat.

"I'll do what you've asked, but you'll have to compensate me."

I knew where this was leading to, but anything is worth bringing Yemisi down.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and he smirked, pulling my waist. "I'll give you anything you want."
