{??? POV}
I ran through the streets in search of a spirit.
They were after me, the phantoms. 10 of them. Huge
And I was unarmed.
It was raining hard, just before the crossover into winter, then I noticed it, a little spirit in the corner of two buildings.
A REGALIA!
I ran over to it and quickly formed my contract with it. I fought back the tears piercing at my eyes, I didn't want this, why does this keep happening to me? Just when I gave up all my regalia... I don't want to be a god anymore. Just let me die!!!
"You with no where to go and no place to return to, I grant you a place to return..."
They turned the corner
"My name is Magnolia, bearing a posthumous name, you shall remain here..."
They spotted me
"With this name, i make thee my servant... with this name and it's alternate, i make thee a Regalia!..."
They darted to my direction.
"THOU ART MIZU, AS REGALIA SUI!"
"COME! MIZUKI!"
I grabbed a saber from the air and twirled it in my hands. It's hilt was adorned with a black silk ribbon that was knotted into a neat bow and ran down a rather long length in two wavy streams that criss-crossed over the saber's blade. I charged towards the phantom at an incredible speed and sliced it in half. With that, I bound it's tortured soul and dispelled it.
"REVERT!" I commanded and she returned to normal, my tears welled out of my eyes uncontrollably, when I think about her past, it breaks me. She transformed into a girl with (h/l) (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes. Before her eyes could flutter open, I held a hand out and began to release her, "Karne... I release you..." I said quietly as I walked towards her and held her to my chest. Tears ran down my cheeks as I held unto her, her body started glowing in my touch, "I know 'he'll' take good care of you. I'm sorry..." Tiny shards of light shattered and scattered around, fading into the atmosphere. I pulled my hands away from my chest and looked at the small bright spirit in my palms. I turned on my heels and darted off towards Kofuku's shrine only a few blocks away. I turned in at the door of her shrine in a rushed panic and knocked at her door, soon enough the ditsy pinkette emerged at the door
"Aah~🎵Magno-chan!~☆ what are you doing here?🎵" She chimed with a bubbly giggle
"Wh-where's Y-Yatogami?" I asked out of breath
"Yatty? He's at Hiyorin's house with Yuki~☆ Hiyorin lives in a big house about three streets down~🎵" She mused
"Thanks!" I breathed and took off again
"It was great to see you Noli-chan~☆ tell Yatty I said hi❤~🎵" She called after me as she waved me off, Daikoku coming to join her at the door as I left to find Hiyori's house, I hope I'm not too late.
{Yato's POV}
I was arguing with Hiyori over which room Yukine should have. After all, as his master I should know what's best for him right? Just as we were about to reach a breaking point, the doorbell wrung and drew our attention. I walked to the front door with Hiyori right behind me and pulled it open, I was met by a pair of sad coral pink eyes and long strawberry blond hair. Shocked by the sight, I almost doubled over and had to hold unto the door frame for support.
"Ah! Yato..." She replied my shocked expression
"M-Magnolia? I-it's been a while, haven't seen you in years." I stuttered
"Who's she?" Hiyori asked from behind me and I made space for her in the door way. I looked back over my shoulder and glanced at Yukine who was watching TV on the couch. When I looked back, I saw Magnolia looking at Hiyori like a deer caught in headlights, scared, curious and slightly shy.
"A human? No... a half phantom..." She murmured then her eyes widened like as if she was smacked by a cinderblock, "I-I came here for a reason!" She exclaimed, giving me a bit of a shock, Magnolia is just about less than a head shorter than Hiyori, I had never noticed that she was... vertically challenged.
"What?" Hiyori asked curiously as Magnolia took a significant step back. And I pulled Hiyori back
"I-it's okay Magnolia, Hiyori's a good friend of mine." I assured her and she seemed to calm down a bit.
She nodded tentatively but didn't move any closer. After she let her guard fall, I motioned for her to continue and she did after she took a deep breath, "h-here." She muttered as she held out her hands in front of me, revealing a small spirit shaped like Yukine's when I had first met him.
"I-is that!?" I stuttered wide-eyed
"A-a regalia?..." Hiyori spoke surprised, her voice was almost inaudible
Magnolia's lip quivered as her hands shook, "please take her!" She exclaimed, water dripped from her clothes and her hair and her breath fogged in the cold rain. "Please..." She repeated, "I've given up everything already, but... I found her spirit... and I just couldn't leave it there." She explained, "I can't take it Yato... please... take her for me." She pleaded
"I..." can't. I can't take her regalia, "I understand." I said
"Thank you, I nammed her Mizu before... could you... please retain the name for her?" I agreed. She smiled as tears slipped down her cheeks. I collected it from her carefully. This feels wrong. I looked at it, it was no older than Yukine, possibly even younger. I took a deep breath and nodded
"You with no where to go and no place to return to..."
{Yukine's POV}
I watched from the living room window as Yato formed his contract with his new regalia and staggered as Hiyori reached to steady him from the wave of memories he had just been hit by. He was holding what seemed to be a left-hand saber with a sharp blade and a black ribbon, was it female? I watched as he reverted her to her human form, he tossed the saber's into the air and it transformed mid-way through the air in a little flip and landed on two feet. I couldn't see her face but... she was wearing a kimono... in the rain... a white one... that was drenched. I blushed.
"Owww!" Yato exclaimed from outside, "Yukine!!!" He raged... I guess I stung him, well maybe next time he'll call me before he gets a new regalia. It's his fault. I returned to the couch and got to watching this show called Re:Zero with a stupid main character named Subaru and a pointless 'I love Emilia!' plot that led to the Rem the blue haired Rika knockoff going crazy.
My gaze flickered back to the door where I saw the retreating figure of a girl say something to Yato, she was really cute, I wonder how she knows someone as waste as Yato. I couldn't hear her, but I could read her lips just fine. "Take care of her." Yato walked back in with Hiyori, he was carrying a girl with (h/l) (h/c) hair and (skin/tone) skin, she was drenched to the bone and probably asleep due to the rate at which her chest was rising and falling.
I couldn't see her face since Yato was carry her to his chest with her head resting on his shoulder. Her white kimono was drenched wet and clinging to her, she was probably about 13.
"I'll take her to my room with me this night, I guess you win this time." Hiyori said as she took over the job of carrying her to her room. After they left I got comfortable on the couch and looked up at Yato, "what's her name?" I asked
"I named her Mizune, she's a year younger than you." Yato said, his voice carried a tone of pain and remorse, so i decided not to push it any further. I turned over on the couch and drifted off to sleep at some point in the night, Yato climbed unto the couch along with me and i kicked him off, adjusting so i occupied the whole couch. I continued sleeping, dreaming up how my first encounter with Mizune would be and what kind of person she'll be.
