(3rd Person PoV)

At long last, it was time for the first duel to begin.

"Is everyone ready?" The unfamiliar voice shouted and the audience roared at this.

A lot of the duelists decided to hang around in an waiting room where there were couches, tables and a big screen that they could see.

Judai was sitting in one of the tables and reading a big book which surprised some people that knew him.

"What are you reading?" Sho asked as he approached him.

"Reading new dueling techniques that we haven't learned yet. I'm on the Rush Duel chapter and it's surprisingly easy," Judai explained.

"Let me see," Sho peeked over.

While they were reading, the unfamiliar voice shouted, "Please welcome our first duelists!"

A lot of people minus Judai and Sho turned their attention to the screen.

"She is a prodigy duelist with quick techniques and a smart mind. Don't underestimate her unless you want to be defeated! Please welcome Rebecca Hawkins from Team DM!" The voice shouted.

Rebecca stepped up to the podium and looked nervously but she had to keep a confident face on.

The crowd cheered and some people were waving posters.

"He's one of the best and fiercest duelist that the former Academia had. The terrifying Fusion specialist and a counterpart of...well spoilers if I told you. Please welcome Yuri from Team Arc-V!" The voice shouted.

Yuri walked up to the podium, looking rather bored.

The crowd cheered for him as well and some people were also waving posters.

"I feel bad for her," Yuya muttered.

Unfortunately, Téa heard him.

"What do you mean by that?" She asked.

"..." Yuya glanced at Yugo who was holding onto Rin like he wanted to protect her.

"It's...a long story," Yuya told her.

Téa wasn't so reassured.

"The format will be a Master Duel which is format most of you are familiar with!" The voice said.

Rebecca and Yuri prepared their Duel Disks.

"Alright then! HERE. WE. GOOOOOOO!" The voice shouted alongside the crowd.

"DUEL!"

Rebecca - 4000 LPS

V.S

Yuri - 4000 LPS

"Let's flip a coin to see who takes the first turn. Heads is Rebecca and Tails is Yuri," the voice said and a coin was flipped in their direction.

...

"Heads! Rebecca takes the first turn!" The voice stated.

"Ok, I draw!" Rebecca said which confused a lot of people from Team Arc-V.

Ok I got a strong hand right now but I need to play defensively this turn so I can see what kind of strategy that he'll play, she thought.

"I set a monster face down and end with a face down," she started.

Hmmm, that voice claims that she's a prodigy. Let's see if she lives up to that, Yuri thought and drew a card.

"I summon Predaplant Ophrys Scorpio (ATK: 1200. DF: 800) and by sending a monster from my hand to the graveyard, I can special summon a Predaplant monster from my deck. I special summon Predaplant Darlingtonia Cobra (ATK: 1000. DF: 1500)!" Yuri started.

Two monsters resembling a scorpion and a cobra appeared on his field and looked like they were mixed with some sort of plant.

"Those are some mean looking plants," Tristian noted.

"..." Serena just watched the screen.

"Since Darlingtonia Cobra was special summoned by a Predaplant's effect, I can add a certain spell card to my hand. I'm hoping that you recognize this card," Yuri pulled out his deck, looked through it, picked a card out before placing his deck back. He held it up and some people gasped.

"No way!" Yuzu cried.

"This early?" Yugo asked.

"Isn't that Polymerization?" Asuka asked.

That card looks like Fusion, Luke thought.

"So you're going to fusion summon? Let's see what kind of monster it is," Rebecca told him.

"By fusing the poisons of scorpions and cobras, this monster will not only be wonderful but with enough power to destroy anything in its path!" Yuri shouted before pressing his hands together, "I fusion summon! Level 7, Predaplant Chimerafflesia (ATK:2500. DF: 2000)!"

A large plant monster appeared with a red flower with sharp teeth in the bud and had two Venus fly trap vines.

"So he didn't bring it out?" Yugo asked.

"I think it's a little too early for that...maybe," Yuya admitted.

"It? What do you mean by it?" Téa asked.

"They're talking about his Ace. Honestly I'm so glad that Yuri didn't bring him out yet," Yuzu sighed.

"This Yuri guy is a strong duelist. I can feel it," Yusei murmured.

Yugi heard him and turned to look at his friend.

"Don't worry. Rebecca is also a strong duelist, she'll bounce right back because of her strategy," he assured him.

What kind of strategy does Rebecca have? Yusei thought.

"Once per turn, I can target a monster on your field with a level that is less or equal to my own and banish it. I'm going to say that your monster has a level less that level 7," Yuri guessed.

Rebecca picked up the card and held it up to reveal Luster Dragon (ATK: 1900. DF: 1600) and most importantly the level.

"Luster Dragon is level 4 meaning that Yuri can banish her monster!" Gakuto gasped.

Luster Dragon disappeared from Rebecca's hand and she made a fist at this.

"Now you are no longer protected by your monster. Direct attack, Predaplant Chimerafflesia!" Yuri shouted as his monster went on the attack, striking at Rebecca with its vines.

4000 —> 1500 LPS

"And with that, I end my turn," Yuri said.

"Well then, it's my turn now. You're pretty strong, I know but let's see how you'll be able to overcome this," Rebecca told him as she drew a card.

"I summon Fire Princess (ATK: 1300. DF: 1500)," she started.

A humanoid wearing a red, fiery dress appeared holding onto a staff.

"And then I activate the spell card, Rain of Mercy. This increases both of our life points by 1000," Rebecca said.

"But that's just mean that Yuri is going to get 5000 life points and she'll only have 2500," Kotori stated.

"We'll see about that," Téa told her.

"Why are you increasing my life points as well?" Yuri asked, unamused.

"Because I can activate this continuous trap! Bad Reaction of Simochi! Any effect that'll increase your life points is changed to inflicted damage to your life points in the same amount that you would have gained. In this case, you lose 1000 life points instead!" Rebecca shouted.

"What?" Yuri asked.

1500 —> 2500 LPS

4000 —> 3000 LPS

"And that's not all because I can use Fire Princess' effect. When I gain life points, I can inflict 500 points of damage to your life points! Fire Princess go!" Rebecca exclaimed.

A fire vortex appeared from Fire Princess' staff and surrounded Yuri.

3000 —> 2500 LPS

"Way to go, Rebecca!" Téa cheered.

"You got this!" Leon cheered.

"Looks like Yuri underestimated her," Yuya noted.

"I end my turn with this face down! How's that for a comeback?" Rebecca asked, happily.

"I'll admit that you took me by surprise there but that won't happen again," Yuri told her as he drew from his deck.

"I summon Predaplant Spinodionaea (ATK: 1800. DF: 0) and then I'll use its effect to set a Predator counter on a monster that you control and if it's level 2 or higher, that counter can drop the level to 1," Yuri explained.

A small bud appeared on Fire Princess as soon as he said this.

LV: 4 —> 1

"I wonder why did he lower the level of her monster to 1?" Yuma asked.

"Something tells me that it has to do with whatever other effect his monster has," Shark replied.

"Battle! Defeat Fire Princess, Predaplant Spinodionaea!" Yuri shouted.

2500 —> 2000 LPS

"And now that my monster has battled a monster of lower level, I can special summon a Predaplant monster from my deck. I special summon Predaplant Flytrap (ATK: 400. DF: 800) in defense mode," Yuri added on.

A monster that resembles a more monstrous version of a Venus Flytrap appeared before curling up as it were to defend itself.

"I set a card down and with that, my turn has ended," Yuri said.

What's he planning? Is he going easy on her or is he waiting for an opportunity? Serena thought, her eyes narrowed.

Rin noticed that Serena was staring at the screen with her narrowed eyes.

Why is she staring intensely at the screen? What's she thinking? She thought.

"Ok then! No more niceness. Time to show you the real deal! I activate the trap, Premature Return! By banishing a card from my hand, I can bring back a banished monster and special summon it to the field face down. Guess who I am bringing back?" Rebecca asked with a smile.

"Your Luster Dragon?" Yuri asked and she nodded.

"He's back!" Rebecca said and a card appeared on her field, face down.

Why would Rebecca bring back Luster Dragon? Unless it's to bring one of her strongest monsters out! Yugi realized.

'She believed that she would be able to bring him out,' the Pharaoh stated and Yugi gave him a slight nod.

"I then activate the spell card, Adamantine Sword Revival tor tribute my dragon monster to special summon a certain powerful dragon in my deck," Rebecca explained.

Luster Dragon disappeared and a sword appeared before moving on its own to slice an X in the air and out of the crack, a large green dragon with diamonds embroidered on its back appeared and let out a loud roar.

"Appear, Diamond Head Dragon (ATK: 0. DF: 2000)!" Rebecca shouted.

"Alright! She managed to bring her dragon onto the field!" Téa cheered.

"Your monster has zero attack points. How is this one of the most powerful monsters in your deck?" Yuri asked.

"You will see in just a moment. I activate his effect! Diamond Head Dragon can now gain the attack points of the tributed dragon monster used to summon it plus 1000," Rebecca explained.

Luster Dragon had 1900 attack points. Add 1000 to it and it becomes 2900 attack points, Yuri thought.

0 —> 2900 ATK

Interesting. So that's why it's one of the most powerful monsters in her deck, Yuri thought.

"And now I will attack your Predaplant Spinodionaea! Diamond Swirls!" Rebecca shouted as Diamond Head Dragon roared.

Yuri shielded his face from the rapid wind that blew in his direction as his monster got destroyed.

2500 —> 1100 LPS

"And now I'll activate the spell card Soul Taker to destroy a card on your field and I chose to destroy your Fusion monster!" Rebecca shouted and Yuri's second monster disappeared.

"She's picking off Yuri's monsters one by one. She may win this one," Joey noted.

"Maybe," Manjome crossed his arms.

"Now you will gain 1000 life points...is what I would have said if I still didn't have Bad Reaction of Simochi out," Rebecca added on.

"Since Yuri only has 1100 life points left, he'll be down to have 100 life points," Yugo realized.

"Oh really?" Yuri asked.

"Yes really. By my next turn, I'll defeat you!" Rebecca declared.

"The next turn will be the last one. I activate the trap Pollinosis. If a monster is normal or special summoned or a spell/trap card is activated, I tribute a plant monster to negate that activation and when I do, I get to destroy that card. I choose to stop the effect of Bad Reaction of Simochi," Yuri explained.

That card then disappeared.

1100 —> 2100 LPS

"...I end my turn turn," Rebecca said.

"Right, I draw then," Yuri said and as he drew a card, he grinned. He got the card that he wanted.

"By sending this monster from my hand to the graveyard, I can add a Predaplant monster from my deck to my hand. I choose another Predaplant Flytrap and summon it to the field. I then activate its effect. Once per turn, I can target a face up monster that you control and place a Predator counter on it and if its level 2 or higher, the level drops down to one," Yuri explained.

A bud appeared on Diamond Head Dragon, dropping its level significantly down.

LV: 8 —> 1

"And when there's a monster with a Predator counter on the field, I can special summon Predaplant Byblisp (ATK: 0. DF: 1900)," Yuri added on.

"When did he have that in his graveyard?" Rua asked.

"Isn't it obvious? It's the card that he send to the graveyard to add his second Predaplant Flytrap," Kaiba explained and gave Rua a look to show that he didn't seem that impressed by his question.

"I then activate Polymeraztion to fuse the two monster on my field. The beauty of flowers that can't be touched or else poison emerges and it doesn't wilt away," Yuri then pressed his hand together again, "I fusion summon! Appear, poisonous dragon with hungry fangs! Starving Venom Fusion Dragon (ATK: 2800. DF: 2000)!"

A large purple dragon appeared with sharp fangs and sharp claws.

Both dragons seem to be squaring up to each other.

"He brought it out. His Ace," Yuya noted.

That's Yuri's dragon? That doesn't seem like a pretty sight. Be careful, Rebecca, Téa thought.

"I then activate Starving Venom Fusion Dragon's effect. When fusion summoned, I can make his attack points gain the same amount of a special summoned monster that you control," Yuri started.

"Diamond Head Dragon is a monster that I special summoned. Does that mean...?" Rebecca couldn't believe it. If only she didn't lose Bad Reaction of Simochi.

"Yes. Starving Venom gains 2900 attack points!" Yuri explained.

2800 —> 5700 ATK

"Th-that's a lot of attack points?!" Mimi cried.

"Attack, Venomous Destruction!" Yuri shouted as his dragon blasted an attack at Rebecca's dragon.

The attack was so fierce that the wind blew Rebecca off her feet, sending her flying.

2000 —> 0 LPS

WINNER: Yuri

"She took 2800 points of damage and she only had 2000 left!" Romin cried.

"Huh? Did Sho and I miss the duel?" Judai asked as he and Sho looked up from the book.

"Yeah, this Yuri guy won," Manjome replied.

"So what happens now?" Ruka asked.

"Congratulations to Yuri! One member of Team Arc-V gets to move on to the second round," the mysterious voice said.

Rebecca got up quickly.

I lost? No way! She thought.

Yuri turned away and was about to leave when the voice added on, "And now the loser's punishment. To the Shadow Realm you go!"

Rebecca's cry of pain made him turn around and purple mist surrounded her as she began to glow blue, turning into an orb of energy.

It floated down to the ground and the purple mist disappeared.

Everyone gasped at this.

Rebecca was gone!

"Someone asked what happens if someone loses. Well here's your answer. You lose your soul and get sent to the Shadow Realm!" The voice crackled.

The stakes were higher than ever and everyone there realized that this was no ordinary tournament nor kidnapping.

If they lose, they'll lose their souls.

A/N: hello, this took a while to make. I had to physically write down how the duel would have gone on a notebook. I bought a new one just for this reason.

Yeah Yuri won that round and Rebecca lost her soul! The stakes are high, folks!

I tried with the duel. I think I did a decent job...maybe.
