Ep.6: Detention

A/N: because I forgot to show him last chapter, here's what Tama looks like:

(3rd Person PoV)

"I heard that you got detention. What did you do?" Tsumugi asked.

Yume and her were outside, sitting on a bench while eating their lunch.

"Some second year thought it would be a good idea to challenge me to a duel. I refused and Beni took my place," Yume explained.

"How did that go?" Tsumugi asked.

"It was a draw. Then Beni's history teacher caught us and gave us detention. Damn it! It's been seven years since the last time I got detention," Yume sighed.

"Yeah...," Tsumugi looked at her with sympathy.

(Later in class)

It was the last class of the day and Yume was feeling sleepy.

The spring air was fresh and warm. She just wanted to sleep the day away.

The class was math which was boring in Yume's opinion. Another reason why Yume was feeling sleepy.

She yawned for a bit and place her head down on the table.

No one would notice if I closed my eyes for a bit, she thought.

...

"This is our flower field. It's away from the village and has the best light source in all of the forest!" Someone said.

Yume could see arrays of colors as the light bounced off of the flowers.

"It's pretty! But why are you showing me this?" She asked.

"Because he was watching you earlier and besides, his moms' house is nearby. They love attending the flowers here," the same voice explained.

"We also wanted you to see that we have something special to protect," another voice said.

"I see...," Yume trailed off as her vision became blurry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"YUME HIBIKI WAKE UP!"
Yume woke up with a jolt as she heard the teacher shouting.
"Finally you decided to join us," the teacher said with annoyance in her voice.
Some people around her were snickering as Yume just drowsily raised her head.
"Do you need anything?" She asked.
"Yes, answer the question," the teacher pointed to the whiteboard.
The question was 'what's the Circumference of a circle with an area of 20 inches?'
Circumference? Crap, I need a calculator for this, Yume thought.
"..." Yume was thinking long and hard but then she felt like too many people were watching her and her mind went blank.
"Ummm....I...I don't know," she murmured.
The teacher sighed like she was done with her.
Yeah, looks like someone noticed that I closed my eyes for a bit, Yume thought.
The bell rang and everyone went out the door.
Yume sighed to herself as she left the classroom and looked for the room where detention was being held.
Some people were already there and some glanced at her.
Yume looked down and went to sit down at a desk.
Alright, if I just sit down and do my work, I won't cause a ruckus...hopefully, she thought.
Then the door opened and someone went falling face front on the floor.
Beni?! Yume thought. What has he done this time?
Then the same teacher that gave them detention walked in and over Beni.
"Alright, listen up! Don't be like this brat here and try to set a curtain on fire! He's lucky that the fire extinguisher was nearby!" The teacher yelled.
"And I keep telling you that it wasn't me who set the curtain on fire! There's no need to give me extra detention because of something that I didn't do," Beni pointed out.
"Don't talk back to me. You should be serving your detention like a good student!" The teacher snapped.
"Hey...," Yume stood up suddenly.
"And what do you want?" The teacher asked, annoyed.
"Leave him alone. Beni doesn't lie," Yume stated.
"Oh really? As a third year, you should know better than to get in trouble. Teach him a lesson," the teacher said.
Beni got up and went to his sister's side.
"Leave him alone," Yume repeated.
Some people were looking back and forth at them like it was a tennis match.
"You annoying brat! Now I should be the one teaching you a lesson!" The teacher snapped.
"And I told you to leave my brother alone so can you please do that?" Yume asked.
"Damn she really did say please," one person said.
"And why would I do that if I already said the reason why I was going to punish him for?" The teacher asked.
"He doesn't lie, I know him better than that," Yume said.
"If you continue to do this, then I'll have to punish you too," the teacher stated.
"Hey, I have an idea! Why don't you duel to settle your differences," a student said.
"Yeah!" Everyone else agreed.
"A duel? Now?" Beni asked. Usually he was very enthusiastic about dueling but considering that this is detention, he was more hesitant.
"A duel then? Fine by me. You'll regret challenging me," the teacher said.
"But I didn't...oh whatever," Yume sighed while grabbing her Duel Disk from her backpack before placing it on her arm and putting her deck in it.
The teacher did the same.
"So I guess we really are doing this Mrs...what's your name again?" Yume asked.
"It's Mrs. Kaneko to you!" The teacher snapped.
Alright then, Yume thought.
"DUEL!"
Yume - 4000 LPS
V.S.
Mrs. Kaneko - 4000 LPS
"I'll take the first turn!" Mrs Kaneko said as she drew a card.
"Fine," Yume stated.
"I summon Harpie Lady (ATK: 1300. DF: 1400) and then I activate Elegant Egoist to special summon the Harpie Lady Sisters (ATK: 1950. DF: 2100)!" She shouted.
Four different monsters appeared.
Two were pink haired harpy humanoids and two others were similar but one had short orange hair and the other had long blue hair.
"Those are some mean looking birds," someone said.
"I set two cards face down and end my turn," Mrs. Kaneko said.
"Then it's my turn," Yume said and then she drew a card.
"I summon Blizzard Dragon (ATK: 1800. DF: 1000)," she started.
A blue dragon with a white underbelly and wings appeared.
And now I'll use its effect. It says here on Blizzard Dragon's card, that once per turn I can target an opponent's monster. It can't change battle position or declare an attack until your next End Phase. And I chose your Harpie Lady Sisters, sorry," Yume noted.
Blizzard Dragon roared and the three harpies' feet were frozen to the ground.
"Ok smart move. Having the stronger monster incapable of attacking her dragon but still, that doesn't mean nothing if she can't attack and destroy her monster," someone explained.
"Not for long, I guess. I activate the Equip Spell, Dragon Treasure. I equip it to Blizzard Dragon and gain 300 attack and defense points," Yume said.
1800 —> 2100 ATK
1000 —> 1300 DF
"Whoa! Now she'll be able to attack her harpies!" A student cheered.
"And now I attack your Harpie Lady. Sub-Zero Hailstorm Blast!" Yume shouted as the air began to feel cold.
Blizzard Dragon charged up an attack and shot it at the Harpie Lady, destroying her.
4000 —> 3200 LPS
"Damn. I activate my trap Harpie Lady Elegance. By shuffling a Harpie Lady Sisters from my monster zone to my deck, I can special summon 3 Harpie monsters with different original names. 1 from my hand, another from my deck and the last one from my graveyard," Mrs. Kaneko stated as she pressed a button on her duel disk.
"From my hand, I special summon Harpie Perfumer (ATK: 1400. DF: 1300)!" She started.
A pink haired humanoid monster with teal wings appeared.
"From my deck, I special summon Harpie Queen (ATK: 1900. DF: 1200)!" She shouted.
A more slender teal haired humanoid monster with white wings appeared.
"And from my graveyard, I revive my Harpie Lady," Mrs. Kaneko finished.
"Three monsters at a time. Whoa," a student said.
This is...less than ideal, Yume thought as she looked at her hand.
"I already attacked so there's not much I can do. I set a card down and end my turn," she said.
"Then it'll be my turn," Mrs. Kaneko stated and drew a card.
"If Harpie Perfumer was special summoned, I can add a Spell or Trap card that specifically lists Harpie Lady Sister," Mrs. Kaneko said and a card popped out from her deck.
She took it out and looked at it.
"Heh, I'll place the continuous spell, Alluring Mirror Split on the field. You'll see what it does soon enough but for now, I will start off with Harpie Perfumer. Attack Blizzard Dragon!"" Mrs. Kaneko shouted.
"But that's s*ic*de! You'll lose life points," a student shouted.
Blizzard Dragon threw an ice ball at Harpie Perfumer, destroying her.
3200 —> 2500 LPS
"It was a risky move but worth it. Now I can use my spell card. When a Harpie Lady or Harpie Lady Sisters gets destroyed in battle, I can special summon a Harpie monster from my deck that has a different name from the monster that was destroyed," Mrs. Kaneko stated and a card came out of her deck.
"Heh. I special summon Harpie's Pet Dragon (ATK: 2000. DF: 2500)!" She shouted.
A large dragon with red, leathery skin appeared and roared.
Yume looked at the dragon, nervously as it towered over her own.
"This...isn't good for me," she noted.
"It sure isn't because Harpie's Pet Dragon's effect now activates. For every Harpie Lady on the field, it gains 300 attack points. There's currently two since Harpie Queen is treated as Harpie Lady while on the field and/or graveyard," Mrs. Kaneko explained.
2000 —> 2600 ATK
"Now attack! Blazing fireball!" Mrs. Kaneko shouted.
A large flaming fireball came out of Harpie's Pet Dragon's mouth and shot at Blizzard Dragon, destroying it.
4000 —> 3500 LPS
"You're now open for a direct attack! Go, Harpie Queen and Harpie Lady!" Mrs. Kaneko shouted.
First came the attack of Harpie Queen.
3500 —> 1600 LPS
Next came the attack of Harpie Lady.
1600 —> 300 LPS
"Yume!" Beni cried.
"I end my turn," Mrs. Kaneko said with a smug look on her face.
Yume said nothing as she drew a card. She was thinking in her head if she could beat this teacher.
Her monsters and usage of the archetype is too strong. My deck is a whole mix of dragons, fairies and spellcasters. It's a mess compared to hers, what can I do? She thought, nervously.
She then looked at the card that she just drew and then the rest of the cards in her hand.
Maybe this could work, she thought.
"I summon Spellbook Magician of Prophecy (ATK: 500. DF: 400) and use its effect. When normal summoned, I can add a Spellbook spell card from my deck to my hand," Yume started as she summoned a magician wearing blue robes.
"And then I use my face down spell, Spellbook of Knowledge. By sending another Spellbook card from my hand to the graveyard, I get to draw two cards," Yume said.
"Next I release Spellbook Magician of Prophecy to Advance Summon Blizzard Princess (ATK: 2800. DF: 2100)!" Yume added on.
"Now she summoned a monster that is strong enough to defeat either one of her monsters," a student noted.
"And now I activate the spell card, Spellbook of Power. I target a Spellcaster that I control and until the end of this turn, it'll gain 1000 attack points," Yume said.
"She already has a strong monster on her field but she's going to make it extra strong," Beni said, feeling a little bit excited.
2800 —> 3800 LPS
Now I could attack her Harpie's Pet Dragon or her Harpie Queen. But that won't be enough to end the duel. So I think I'll go and attack her Harpie Lady, Yume thought but before she could say anything else, all of them heard someone clapping.
"Huh?" Some people looked at the entrance of the detention room to see a woman with yellow and orange curled up hair.
"V-Vice Principal Akui!" Someone cried and immediately everyone, including Mrs. Kaneko, stiffened up.
"Wonderful dueling, the two of you. I had so much fun seeing this duel," Akui said.
Yume was just in shocked and for some reason, Mrs. Kaneko seemed uncomfortable.
"Students, you are all pardoned from detention for today. Run along home now, Mrs. Kaneko and I have some business to attend to," Akui told them.
Some people quietly cheered while some looked confused.
Mrs. Kaneko glared at Yume and said, "we'll finish this some other time," and placed her deck and duel disk away.
No Result
Yume placed her deck and duel disk away as well.
She and Beni walked out of the detention room and she looked back.
"I wonder what was that all about?" She asked and Beni shrugged.
"Hey...thanks for sticking up for me back there," Beni told her.
"It's nothing. I know that you wouldn't actively commit acts of arson. I'm your sister, what type of person would I be if I didn't believe you," Yume told him.
Beni just sighed at this.
(Meanwhile)
"So you're meaning to tell me that she hasn't activated her Foresight Eye against you?"
"Y-Yes, she didn't. She also didn't use Soul Summoning against me."
"I see. Well she probably wasn't taking you that seriously. Maybe in a life or death situation, she might activate it?"
"But didn't she activate it during the duel against the Kaede twins?"
"Hmm, I guess she did. Well whatever the case is, we can't allow her to be running around all nilly willy. After all, that power should be in the hands of someone...more capable rather than a teenager."
"But who?"
"I'm not telling you."
"So are you going to send her to keep an eye on Yume Hibiki?"
"Yes I am. I hope you don't mind me using her."
"No...I don't mind."
"Good, hahaha. We will see what the future holds."
A/N: I think this is the more better of the duels currently. I'm learning and getting better as I go.
It also has been a while, hi! I didn't forget about this, don't worry. This duel took me a while to write though. Nothing else to say here other than...
