Ep.2: A new path carved for me
(3rd Person PoV)
Yume continued to look down.
"..."
"There's something that I don't get about you."
"!"
Yume looked up at Aiko who looked very confused about something.
"You claim to have not played this game since you were 10 and that must have been a long time ago. But you're making moves like how a pro would do. Are you sure that you haven't been playing in secret?" Aiko asked.
Yume's shoulders slumped at this.
"I haven't. I haven't touched this game since I was ten," she replied before adding on, "I had to reread the rules before this."
Beni nodded to confirm this.
"But I still don't get it. You use Trap cards perfectly well to stop my XYZ monster and heavily damaged my life points, plus you have an extremely strong monster on your field right now. You must have remembered how to play before you stopped. Why did you stop?" Aiko asked.
Yume didn't reply.
Beni looked over at his sister with curiosity and confusion as well.
Why did she stop? He never asked that question when she helped him a little bit when he was beginning to duel but she never played it herself.
He respected her privacy of course but that didn't stop him from being curious.
Whenever he did ask, she would always change the subject or tell him when he's older.
"..."
".........I draw," Yume reached over to draw a card but something made her stop.
"!"
One of her eyes began to hurt suddenly and she winced in pain. Yume held up her hand to her left eye.
"Sis?!" Beni cried.
"Hey what's the big idea?!" Aiko asked.
Crack!
Yume's vision went black.

"..."
"Where am I?" She looked around.
There was nothing where she was at. Only her and Beni's duel disk. And her cards but no monsters.
A black void. Just a black void and yet she can see. She is not in total darkness.
Then suddenly, flashes of light appeared side by side like TV's lined up on hallways.
Something urged her to walk forward and look at them.
Yume took a step forward. And another. And another. And another.
They were not simple flashes of light. They were showing Yume's duel against Aiko and it all showed her losing in someway or another.
It never showed an specifics but she would summon a monster, try to take down Aiko's Life Points, he would have a counter attack to that and she loses.
They were all different but the results were the same.
I lose? She thought.
Guess she'll never recover the cards.
Until...
"Yume."
She stopped in her tracks and looked around, startled.
"Hello?!" She cried.
No one responded. Was it all in her head?
In the corner of Yume's left, there was a screen.
She looked closer to it. The screen was blurry but she could make some things out.
The duel was still going on but something about it was different.
There was something new that happens. Something...unheard of.
Open up...the All Seeing Eye!
Yume gasped loudly and her vision began to turn blurred.
She was back where she was before, dueling Aiko.
"You...," Aiko said.
"Sis, are you ok? You froze for a couple of seconds and then your eye contact fell off," Beni exclaimed.
"My eye contact?!" Yume jumped.
"You have two different colored eyes!" Aiko shouted.
What a freak, he thought.
Yume looked down to see a clear bowl shaped item, cracked in two.
She then glanced at her reflection through the Duel Disk and saw her two different eye colors. A light blue and a more darker blue.
Yume then looked up at Aiko who gave her a disgusted look. She knew that look far too well.
"I can't let you win now," she said.
"No! I'm winning this no matter what! Then your cards will be mine! Just you wait, freak eyes!" Aiko shouted.
Yume frowned at this.
"Then I draw!" She looked at the card she drew. She had this card for a long time but she couldn't never use it because she had no idea how to use it.
But something tells her that this might be the time to make use of this card.
(Btw these cards that I will show are fan made)
"I summon Sunlight Wizard (ATK: 1200. DF: 500) and in order to special summon his friend from my deck, I have to pay up half my life points for her," Yume explained.
"Half? What are you planning?" Aiko asked.
I don't know what I'm planning and yet I...yet I know. I can't explain it...can I even explain it? Yume wondered.
"I pay up half my life points to summon Assassin Wizard (ATK: 1200. DF: 500)!" She shouted.
800 —> 400 LPS
A young man in green wizard robes appeared and a young woman in red wizard robes appeared side by side.
Words began to escape Yume's mouth without even her realizing.
"Two souls intertwined to create the ultimate combination of effects and monster. With this, I create...a new path for this monster..." Yume then posed as she held up a card in the air.
"I Soul Summon! Arise, Green Eyes-Ivory Dragon (ATK:2700. DF: 2500)!" She shouted.
A large ivory looking dragon with what appears to be leathery and reflective wings plus some markings carved into its skin appeared where Sunlight Wizard and Assassin Wizard once were. Its glaring green eyes stared at Burning Carolina Reaper Spider.
"Wh-what? Soul Summon?! I never heard of a summoning technique like that?!" Aiko cried.
Beni stared in awe at the dragon.
"I use Sunlight Wizard's Soul effect! If I have less Life Points than my opponent and I have a spell card in my hand, then I can recover my Life Points depending on my summoned monster's attack points. Green Eyes has 2700 attack points which means I recover 2700. Look I have a spell card as well," Yume held a card to reveal the spell card, Gust Fan.
400 —> 3100 LPS
"Next I use Assassin Wizard's Soul effect. By sending a monster from my hand to the graveyard, I can inflict that monster's attack points onto you and that monster's defense points are added to Green Eyes defense points. The monster I'm sending...is Injection Fairy Lily which means you lose 400 life points and Green Eyes gains 1500 defense points!" Yume shouted.
600 —> 200 LPS
2500 —> 4000 DF
But...but why would she raise her monster's defense points instead of its attack points...unless! Aiko thought.
"I then use the spell card, Gust Fan. Since Green Eyes is a Wind attribute monster, I can equip it to him which makes him gain 400 attack points but makes him lose 200 defense points," Yume added on.
2700 —> 3100 ATK
4000 —> 3800 DF
"I now attack with Green Eyes-Ivory Dragon! Go, Windy Swirly Breath!" She finished.
Green Eyes roared before inciting his attack on Burning Carolina Reaper Spider.
"Wait no!" Aiko cried.
"Green Eyes currently has 3100 Attack points and Burning Carolina Reaper Spider only has 2300...so that means!" Beni gasped.
"So I calculated it right. You lose 800 life points," Yume explained.
"NOOOOOOO!" Aiko screamed.
200 —> 0 LPS
Winner: Yume Hibiki
"You...YOU WON! YOU WON YOU WON YOU WON YOU WON!" Beni began to jump and down happily.
Yume fell to her knees, tired. Who knew dueling can drain so much out of her?
"B...But how? I should have won...victory was supposed to be mine...," Aiko gasped.
"Well that doesn't matter right now. Hand over those cards!" Beni exclaimed.
"Tch!" Aiko threw Beni's cards and the little kid's card at him before running away with his friends.
Beni picked those up, organized them into two different decks before running up to Yume.
"Sis you did it! You won! Guess your dueling skills aren't that rusty at all," he exclaimed.
"Ha....y-yeah," Yume said tiredly.
"We should go back home before Mom gets worried and you can go lay down," Beni suggested before lending his hand out to help his sister up.
Yume took it and wobbled to get up.
The siblings began to walk away and once they arrived home, Beni noticed something off.
"Hey sis?"
"Hmm?"
"Did you dye your hair or something?" He asked.
"Dyed my hair? No, why would I do that?" Yume asked, tilting her head.
"Well there's a strand of blue hair here," Beni pointed.
"Blue?" Yume looked at Beni's duel disk again for her reflection.
"..."
"..."
"You se-," Beni started but got cut off by Yume screaming.
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The front door slammed opened and there appeared their mother. A tall woman with dark blue hair and dark purple eyes.
"WHERE WERE YOU TWO?! AND YUME DID YOU DYE YOUR HAIR?!" She shouted.
Yume was stuttering to explain that she had to help Beni deal with a problem and she also tried to explain that she has no idea what happened to her hair.
It was long long dinner.
After that, Yume went to her room to cut the strand of hair off. Some of the blue roots were still there but hardly noticeable if she shifted her hair a little.
Ok...I'm not sure how that happened, she thought.
She sat on her bed and began to think about the duel. Not too shabby for her first time in forever.
But Aiko's words repeated in her head.
'You must have remembered how to play before you stopped. Why did you stop?'
If only the answer was that simple, she thought.
That XYZ monster though...I guess there has been new summoning forms being used after I quit, Yume thought as well.
She had no plans to continue dueling. This was just a one time thing.
No more, no less.
But fate had other plans for her.
A/N: does any of this sound like anime cliche? Maybe, who knows.
Yeah I made up a new summoning technique. I call it Soul Summoning. Most monsters have monster effects that can turn the tides in a duel.
But some of them have secret effects called Soul Effects that are used by Soul monsters usually from the extra deck with the exception of Ritual monsters that are Soul monsters. They are the only type of monsters from the main deck that can use those soul effects. That monster gains those soul abilities as well as their own monster effect. While the monster effect can be used multiple times (whether once per turn or if conditions are met) Soul effects can only be used once per duel Just once. So use those effects wisely. Will explain a little more as it's still in development.
So that's how it kind of works in this universe. I try not to make it too op.
