XVI. Vaquisher

"Goddammit!" Ryan shouted as he looked at the alarming amount of distress signals now arising all over Helos City. He was stuck sitting in the middle of the war room overlooking a map of the city, with many parts lighting up to signify the locations of distress calls.
"Quil! How many more can we take, there's only so many of us!" Ryan yelled although the room was seemingly quiet.
"Calm down Ryan, we need you at your best now more than ever it seems. I'm surprised you haven't seen the location's pattern," Quil replied straightforward.
"Huh," Ryan said a bit shocked and took another look at the map. That's when he saw the pattern of only attacking the most populated areas of. It took a moment for him to figure out way, only to see that by attacking the populated areas, it means less likely attacker's no locations would be the hideout of the ringleader.
"Quil, take over!" Ryan simply shouted before running out the door. Quil nodded and muttered something to himself before moving to take over the operative table.

"Okay, looks like we'll finally be getting some company ourselves, oh goodie," spoke a hooded figure noticing something approaching from the Hunter base.
"Well, may I have the pleasure this time Nightmare? You've been dueling a lot recently and I think it's rightfully my time," the other man spoke in more darker tone.
"Rightfully so as you say Vanquisher, go have fun!" Nightmare spoke happily.
"Alright then," Vanquisher stared before blasting off on his own Duel Board to fly and meet up with the incoming opponent.
"Toddaloo," Nightmare said waving as Vanquisher left.

The two flyers quickly past each other with little exchange. Something about one another just told them to begin their duel as their duel disks activated.

/ Duel Beginning \
Ryan: 4000 LP
Vanquisher: 4000 LP
/Duel Commence\

"Ryan I presume, as my men haven't reported your appearance," Vanquisher questioned as both got on a path for their Speed Duel.
"Right you shit, I'm going to assume your behind whatever is happening," Ryan said a bit more angerly than normal.
"I can see through your act, so drop it," Vanquisher harshly spoke. His words cut through Ryan in that instant.
"You think I'm acting?" Ryan said now a bit more shriveled yet still mad.
"Oh of course, now let me go first since you obviously need sometime to get together," Vanquisher spoke now trying to rub salt in the wound.

"I'll begin by activating Card Destruction, and make us draw a new hand," Vanquisher spoke, sending four cards to the grave and drawing three. Ryan quickly did the same and drew four.
"Next up I'll set a monster and unfortunately pass it off with a face down, bad hand I guess," Vanquisher spoke now soft and passive aggressive.

"Well then, since there's no such thing as Pendulum's in Speed Duels, guess I'll need to use a new deck!" Ryan called out heroically.
"What the hell did I say, cut the act, and it's even worse than before," Vanquisher spoke in his dark and clear voice.
"Fine then," Ryan said, with little to no energy in his voice.
"Now I'll start with Florescent Scythe, a monster whose effect does piercing damage," Ryan said now with a bit more energy.

Florescent Scythe (1700 Atk | 600 Def)
Light, Level 4, Machine

"Now I'll attack!" Ryan called out as the floating glowing scythe swung at the face down card.
"Awe shoot, that's my Masked Man with no defense points, guess I better prepare for the damage," Vanquisher said very serious like as the damage barely grazed him.

Vanquisher: 4000 -> 2100 LP

"Now I'll be activating my trap, Double Edged Sword. Now if it's heads, your monster is destroyed and you discard all copies of it, plus one extra card per copy. If it's tails the same happens to me," Vanquisher explained as the coin flipped and landed on tails.
"Serves you right cocky bastard," Ryan shouted laughing.
"Oh yes, it does serve me right," Vanquisher said mockingly as he sent six more cards to the graveyard.

"Now I draw! I activate RNA Reader," Vanquisher said as he put the card on his duel disk. He then sent the top three cards from his deck to grave and special summoned 3 microchip looking things from his deck.

Red N. Codon (0 Atk | 700 Def)
Light, Level 2, Cyberse

Blue N. Codon (0 Atk | 700 Def)
Light, Level 2, Cyberse

Orange N. Codon (0 Atk | 700 Def)
Light, Level 2, Cyberse

"Now it's about time I got into the real meat of my deck," Vanquisher spoke as he opened a link in the sky.
"Now I set Red N. Codon to Link Summon Data Nexus, and I set both Blue N. and Orange N. Codons to Link summon S Data Nexus," Vanquisher called as digital code looking orbs filled his field.
"Next I'll activate another RNA Reader and special summon only two this time," Vanquisher explained.

Yellow N. Codon (0 Atk | 700 Def)
Light, Level 2, Cyberse

Purple N. Codon (0 Atk | 700 Def)
Light, Level 2, Cyberse

"And we'll begin another link summon with Yellow N. Codon to Link Summon Data Nexus Alternative, and Purple N. Codon to Link Summon Data Nexus Linkage!" Vanquisher called out. Then Ryan finally looked at the field and saw what Vanquisher had done.
"And now I'll normal summon Green N. Codon and Link Summon Alternate Link Nexus and complete my field!" Vanquisher thundered as the Extra Link formed.

         Data Nex.                                  Data Nex. L.
                         ↘️                          ↗️       ⬇️
Data Nex. Alt.➡️⬅️S Data Nex.⬅️Alt. L. Nex.

"So what I can't summon from the extra deck, your monsters all have zero attack points and nothing else to them," Ryan said laughing in Vanquisher's face at the amount wasted by his move.
"Yes but S Data Nexus's ability activates now that it's extra linked, allowing me to add any card of my choice to my hand," Vanquisher finished explaining. He picked his card and played it.
"Now here is the continuous Spell, Extra Blocker. When my monsters are Extra Linked, they cannot be destroyed by battle and all damage I would have taken is negated by discarding one card per thousand life point I would have lost," Vanquisher explained as he went on.

"That's a pretty nice combo," Ryan said happily as he looked at what happened. He knew that he'd have a way of countering with the cards in his hand. And now he found the error in Vanquisher's deck. The amount of card consumption.

"Good thing I know how to beat your deck now," Ryan said drawing his card.
"I'll start by summoning Archfiend Blade and equipping it and Florescent Sycthe with Megamorphs!" Ryan called out beefing his monsters power.

Florescent Scythe (1900 -> 3800 Atk

Archfiend Blade (2000 Atk | 1200 Def )
Dark, Level 4, Machine

Archfiend Blade 2000 -> 4000 Atk

"I'll blast ya until there's no card's left in that deck of your's. I'll also set two cards and attack!" Ryan called out as a battle cry as his weapons slashed at the orbs, phasing through then and Vanquisher's cards depleted.
"Now I'll flip one of my face downs, the quick play spell, Cyber Augmentation, and it deals 100 damage to you times every attack that's hit you this turn," Ryan spike again now showing his heroics off even more.
"So I've lost eight cards total. Any other duelist and that probably either wins the game for you or gets countered," Vanquisher pointed out.
"Yep, but now for my other face down, Damaging Rageki, a card that destroys all your monsters when you take effect damage!" Ryan said just about denouncing his victory. All of Vanquisher's cards were whipped from the field.
"I end my turn!" Ryan spoke proudly as his monster's attack points returned to normal.
Vanquisher just looked astonished. He looked absolutely destroyed.
"You know what I hate most?" Vanquisher asked with his crushed face. The question got Ryan caught off guard. Just as Ryan was about to answer, Vanquisher chimed in once more.
"I hate fake people," Vanquisher said as his destroyed face turned into a confident smile, leaving Ryan to begin to fret as he felt like Vanquisher was prepared.
"I hate those who control and fake their emotions for any reason because before one can be strong, they must be true to themselves," Vanquisher went on to say," It's my dream to be able to clash with those at their greatest and purest form. Unfortunately, that isn't you."
Vanquisher then pressed a button on his duel disk as a light shone from his graveyard.
"I'll finally be activating the effect of the Masked Man you sent to my graveyard, and special summon it on your field by paying 1000 LP," Vanquisher spoke as the life drained away.

Vanquisher: 2100 -> 1100 LP

"Now why I'd do this is because the Masked Man is why I like to call the bomb of my deck," Vanquisher explained as Ryan stood still in silence.
"It's effect then deals damage to you equal to the amount of cards in my graveyard, times one hundred," Vanquisher said before truly letting everything sink in.
"And there are current 40 cards total in my graveyard," Vanquisher said sly like as the Masked Man on Ryan's field took off the mask to reveal a bomb. It blew up sending Ryan's Duel Board flying into the abyss below and depleting his life points completely.

Ryan: 4000 -> 0 LP
/Duel Over\

Vanquisher stopped flying and looked down at the abyss that Ryan had fallen into. It was just utter dankness with no bottom in sight. Vanquisher just sighed.
"How disappointing," he spoke quietly as he then flew back to Helos City. Yet as he left, darkness crypt out of the pit and up arose Ryan once again....
