XIV. A Shadow (Part 1)
"Pro Athlete, Micheal Ulm has been reported missing along with the likes of Kujon Misu and Akai Fuyoki within these last few days," the tv reported being on the news channel. Anya has now been a part of the Hunters group within Hex for two days, hunting down Ghasts in return for some cards she'd designed and had been made real. Anya sat down in front of the tv that morning still trying to wake up. She'd now gotten a few cards made and has been testing them out against Ghasts. Her mother hadn't gotten up yet so Anya left her a note and headed out into the city.
"Today's weather will be a bit cloudy but there is little chance of rain fall so enjoy the nice cool weather!" the weather reporter spoke over the radio.
"Heh, will do," Anya spoke to herself as she drove through the bustling city. There was little traffic due to working hours. Anya hopes to be out of the city before then but she had to make a few quick stops first. Anya pulled up to the grocery store and hopped out of her motorcycle.
Blake rode around on his D-Wheel through Helos City. He veered left into an alley and began to pull a wheelie as two man dove out of the way.
"Watch where your riding man!" one of them yelled at Blake as he came to a stop.
"You watch where you do illegal business," Blake fired back as he flipped out his Hunter's Association badge," You two are both under arrest."
The men turned to run but found themselves cut off on the other side of the alleyway by another Hunter.
"Maybe be smarter and go out of the city to do your shady shit!" the guy said in an aggressive manner.
"We gotta go," the one guy said to the other as they both disappeared. Blake pulled out a communication device and spoke into it.
"Alter their auras and make it so they come in at the prison," Blake spoke.
"Roger sir," the man on the other line spoke before a noise was heard, indicating the signing off on the other line. The other man made his way over and took off his helmet to reveal green spiky hair.
"Nice catch today Blake," he spoke, looking energetic.
"Yeah, you too Heath," Blake said softly to him while looking down, seemingly in deep thought.
"So what now cap'n?" Heath asked Blake as he looked around the area.
"We look for more crime," Blake responded simply. Blake kept looking down while thinking as Heath spotted something behind him.
"Blake, look out!" Heath yelled as the thing threw a knife.
Blake quickly ducked as he felt the knife fly overhead, turning around to face the thing. It looked like a humanoid figure except a color of pure black everywhere, like a living shadow.
"So, how about we play?" the creature asked as it formed a shadow shaped like a duel disk on its arm.
"Blake, go, there might be more of these things!" Heath commanded.
"Sure thing!" Blake responded as he quickly got onto his D-Wheel and ran off.
Heath began to inspect the shadow a bit more to try and pick out some details. It had spiky looking hair with sideburns sticking out in the humanoid shape.
"Oh hey! You look like Micheal Ulm! Your a pro athlete, best runner I've seen!" Heath said realizing, then connecting the dots.
"So this is why you've gone missing huh?" Heath asked.
"Let's play," Shadow Ulm croaked out.
"Fine, let's go then!" Heath shouted.
"Ugh, why is shopping always a hassle?" Anya complained to herself. She carried a few bags and took a glance at her watch to see it's been close to an hour.
"Well, at least I can still enjoy the rest of the day," Anya told herself once more as she moved her glance to where she parked her motorcycle to see it gone.
"Well, maybe I parked in the alley," Anya spoke to try and convince herself something wasn't up. Anya went over and found her motorcycle being blocked by a shadowy figure.
"It's time we duel," it shriveled out as a shadow disk appeared on the shadow man.
"Okay then," Anya said sliding on a small duel disk she kept hidden in her jacket. Inserting her deck, Anya was now ready.
"Let's Duel!" Anya called.
"God damn it!" Blake yelled throwing his walkie talkie to the ground.
"What the hell are these thing?" Blake asked himself.
"They can't be Ghasts, they aren't hostile," Blake thought. Members of the Hunters were all around the city now trying to fend off these things. Blake then noticed one walking up behind him, and prepared himself to duel. Blake turned around only to gasp.
"Heath," Blake uttered out as the shadowy version of Heath kept advancing.
"Hey Blake, sir," Shadow Heath said eerily, as if mocking the original," Let's Duel!"
"Ugh! How did this happen?!" Blake asked the shadow, yelling.
"Oh, you know, some would say being consumed by the shadows. I would say I've been washed in the light," Shadow Heath explained as a shadowy duel disk appeared on his arm. Blake grudgingly activates his.
"Fine then! Let's Duel!" Blake let our.
