(3rd Person PoV)

Yuya stared down at Death-Toy Scissors Bear as Sora puffed out his chest, proudly.

Crap, what can I do against a Fusion monster? Yuya thought.

"Polymerization can be used to fuse two monsters into a more powerful one. Just how skillful is Sora?" Syuzo wondered.

"Plentiful," Yuichi noted.

"Now Fusion summoning is taught at LID so that must mean...that Sora is a student there?!" Syuzo cried.

"No, Dad. He said that he was about to enroll there but changed his mind when he saw Yuya duel," Yuichi corrected him.

Back at the duel, Sora declared, "it's time to battle! Death-Toy Scissors Bear, attack Performapal Hip Hippo!"

With a powerful swoop and punch, Sora's monster knocked Hip Hippo and Yuya into another lake of juice.

"Yuya!" Yuichi and Ayu cried.

Yuya resurfaced and coughed up some juice.

"I think I'll never look at anything sweet the same way again," she sighed.

"She's ok," Ayu said in relief.

"Yeah but she lost life points," Yuichi pointed out.

4000 —> 2600 LPS

"I didn't even notice that," Yuya said and then a large shadow loomed over her.

She looked up to see Death-Toy Scissors Bear standing over her. She yelped in surprise and pushed herself away.

"And now I'm going to activate the effect of my Scissors Bear! When it destroys a monster, it can equip it onto it," Sora explained and an extendable arm appeared and fished out the hippo from the lake.

Chomp!

Performapal Hip Hippo was swallowed up by Death-Toy Scissors Bear.

"N-no! Hip Hippo," Ayu cried.

"Oh no," Tatsuya said.

"And that's not all," Sora wagged his finger.

"There's more?!" Yuya cried.

"You know it! When a monster is equipped onto Scissors Bear, it gains the attack points of the equipped monster. You can do the math," Sora stated.

"Hmmmm. If Death-Toy Scissors Bear has 2200 attack points and you add on the 800 attack points from Hip Hippo, that would make it..." Syuzo murmured.

"It now has 3000 attack points," Yuichi finished and as he said this, Sora's monster grew larger.

"It got big!" Syuzo cried.

"It's now stronger than Odd Eyes," Tatsuya took a step back in shock.

"Death-Toy Scissors Bear can destroy it now!" Futoshi exclaimed.

"That's a scary effect to go up against and a much scarier monster," Ayu said.

Yuya got up, frustrated. She dusted off her skirt and then stared at Sora.

"Come on, Sensei. Don't back down on me, where's your confidence?" Sora chided her before adding on, "I set these two cards down and end my turn."

"Then it's my turn, I draw," Yuya said and looked at her hand.

"While Death-Toy Scissors is a powerful monster, Odd Eyes has plenty of friends to help him out! I activate the effect of Performapal Sword Fish which decreases your monster's attack points by 600!" She declared.

Multiple copies of Sword Fish appeared and shot itself onto Sora's monster.

3000 —> 2400 ATK

"It's weaker than Odd Eyes now!" Tatsuya exclaimed.

"Odd Eyes can destroy Death-Toy Scissors Bear now!" Futoshi cheered.

Yuya jumped onto Odd Eyes and mounted him.

"Now battle! Odd Eyes, destroy Death-Toy Scissors Bear!" She shouted.

"I counter your attack with my trap. Punch in a Box! This allows me to negate the attack by sending a monster that didn't battle to the graveyard and have the attacking monster lose attack points based on the attack points of the monster that got sent," Sora stated.

"Smart move but it's not good enough. Timegazer's Pendulum effect! It negates any traps used and resets it. Infinity Gear Reverse!" Yuya shouted.

Timegazer Magician extended his gauntlet and began to rewind time which set the trap card back down.

"That...THAT IS SO COOL!" Sora exclaimed, happily and began to jump up and down.

"Eh?" Yuya asked and thought, what's with this guy?

"It's like time itself was turned backwards and made it so the trap was never used! So cool! But uhh...I do have a question," Sora noted.

"And that is...?" Yuya asked.

"How will it fare against a second trap?" Sora asked.

"Huh??????" Yuya asked.

"I activate my trap! It's another Punch in a Box!" Sora shouted.

"He must have set that second copy in case his first copy was negated by Timegazer's Pendulum effect!" Tatsuya realized.

"And since that effect can only be used once per turn...," Yuichi started.

"Yuya won't be able to stop this second attack," Syuzo finished.

"I'll send your Performapal Skeeter Skimmer to the graveyard for Punch in a Box!" Sora shouted.

A spring hand extended out and grabbed Skeeter Skimmer. It then threw it at Odd Eyes which not only lowered his attack points but also knocked Yuya off.

"Ack!" She cried.

2500 —> 1600 ATK

Yuya fell front face onto the ground and Sora stated, "Again. Come on, where's your confidence?"

"I...I switch Sword Fish to defense mode," Yuya said in a low voice and got up slowly.

"That's a passive tactic. I'm a bit disappointed, Sensei, if that's the only option you have. I was kind of expecting a more interesting duel against my teacher," Sora sighed.

Yuya didn't even bother to yell at him for calling her Sensei again.

"I set this card down and end my turn," she concluded.

2400 —> 3000 ATK

"...Yuya," Yuichi muttered, worried for her.

"My turn! My turn!" Sora cheered and drew a card.

"Haha! I can end this duel with the card that I drew! I activate Toy Parade. Whenever I have a Toy monster with an equip spell, this turn I can have it attacked as many times as the number of equip spells on it!" He proclaimed.

"Oh no, this is bad!" Syuzo cried.

"Why is that bad? Death-Toy Scissors Bear only has Performapal Hippo so it can only attack once as usual?" Futoshi asked.

"Wait, I think I get it," Tatsuya said.

"Yeah...as long as his monster can destroy one of mine, it can use it as an equip spell and gain its attack points," Yuya explained.

"That's right! You figure it out, hurray!" Sora cheered.

"Oh no! So if Death-Toy Scissors attacks now, it can use Yuya's destroyed monster to gain its attack points and attack again. It'll be an endless loop until Yuya inevitably loses! Ahh!" Futoshi cried.

"Yeah and she'll lose all of her monsters," Tatsuya said.

"That's why I'm going to win this duel," Sora stated.

"Damn it," Yuya muttered.

"Is this...the power of Fusion monsters?" Syuzo asked.

"Is Big Sis going to lose?" Ayu asked.

"No, I believe in her. She won't give up in a situation like this," Yuichi assured her.

"I think I'll destroy Odd Eyes first," Sora announced.

If he manages to destroy Odd Eyes, then he'll be able to use Toy Parade to attack again and attack me with a direct attack. The only way to negate the destruction of Odd Eyes, I have to get an Action Card! Yuya thought and raced off.

"I don't think so!" Sora shouted as Yuya ran towards an Action Card that was stuck on a candy cane.

He jumped on the hand of Death-Toy Scissors Bear as Yuya called out to Odd Eyes. She mounted onto him.

And then Death-Toy Scissors Bear threw Sora at the Action Card which surprised everyone.

He grabbed onto the Action card before Yuya could and did a flip to land on a gumdrop.

Sora then leapt from candy to candy until he jumped onto his monster's hand.

"Woah so quick!" The kids said.

"What school did Sora attend to?" Syuzo wondered.

Sora gave Yuya a cheeky smile.

"Well in order to get Action Cards, one has to utilize their monsters so destroying Hip Hippo was the right choice," he said.

"Have you planned this since the beginning?" Yuya asked.

Sora didn't respond, he only somersault off of Death-Toy Scissors Bear and said, "I'll begin my Battle phase!"

"I attack Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon with Death-Toy Scissors Bear!" He shouted.

"I activate my trap Command Performance! When I control a Performapal monster, I can switch an attacking monster to defense mode," Yuya said.

Sword Fish flashed rainbow colors which caused Sora's monster to cover its eyes.

"Well then, guess I'll activate the Action spell I got, Candy Coat," Sora stated.

A piece of candy appeared and transformed into sunglasses which Death-Toy Scissors Bear took and placed them on.

"What?" Yuya asked.

"This turn, a monster I control can't be affected by spell or trap cards. Also it can't be destroyed in battle," Sora explained.

He then added on, "It's too bad, really. If you have gotten this card, you could have protected Odd Eyes."

"Damn!" Yuya cursed.

"Time to attack! Continue the battle, Death-Toy Scissors Bear!" Sora shouted and his monster retracted his paw before delivering a punch towards Odd Eyes which knocked Yuya off of her Ace.

Yuya landed on a marshmallow while Odd Eyes was sent crashing into the lake of juice.

2600 —> 500 LPS

"Odd Eyes!" Yuya cried out.

"Oh no! Yuya!" Ayu called out.

Yuya pulled her goggles over her eyes as she repeated Odd Eyes' name.

"You alright, Sensei? You took a lot of damage from that attack?" Sora asked.

"Her defeat is guaranteed so I understand her frustration with it," Syuzo sighed.

"No, that's wrong. Her Ace, Odd Eyes, is what gives Yuya the courage to move forward. It always had even before Pendulum summoning. Odd Eyes is the symbol of something very precious that Yuya created," Yuichi explained.

"Her heart has been damaged," Tatsuya noted.

"Don't lose, Bis Sis!" Futoshi shouted.

"...Yuya," Yuichi muttered.

"I suppose there's no other way to do this. I'll leave you alone as I take Odd Eyes," Sora shrugged before looking at Death-Toy Scissors Bear.

"Death-Toy Scissors Bear, equip Odd Eyes," he ordered and his monster saluted.

Yuya held onto her bracelet where her pendulum was at. What was it that her dad told her before?

(Flashback)

On a playground, there was a younger Yuya and she was crying.

Her dad, Yusho, walked up to her.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"I-I lost my bracelet," Yuya hiccuped as tears rained down her face.

"That is a problem indeed," Yusho noted.

He then got down to her level and said, "if you keep on being sad and crying about it, nothing good will come out of it. Keep your chin up and laugh whenever you feel like crying. If you do, you'll be able to move forward."

Yuya continued to cry though.

"Heed my advice, Yuya," Yusho encouraged.

Yuya sniffed and nodded while wiping her eyes. She looked up and her face shifted from a sad solemn look to a more excited one.

"I found it!" She said and pointed to a tree branch that was hidden behind some leaves. It was due to the sun's rays that she could see her bracelet glittering.

"Good job, Yuya. Always remember my advice. It'll come handy when you really need it," Yusho told her.

(Present Day)

"When you feel like crying, laugh," Yuya muttered.

She then grinned and began to laugh which confused everyone.

She removed her goggles as she continued to laugh.

If I keep my heart in defense mode, then there's no way I can enjoy dueling. I made a vow, a promise. To bring fun and entertaining duels to all! If I can't enjoy my duels then I can't cheer others up, she thought as she jumped off the marshmallow.

Yuya looked at her Pendulum scale where the pendulum was swinging between Stargazer and Timegazer magician.

Then her duel disk began to beep and she took a look at it.

Huh? That's weird, it's coming from my Extra deck but I don't think I put any cards there? She thought and pressed the button on the touch screen.

Then a tap opened up from the side of her duel disk and Yuya gasped at what was inside.

Meanwhile with Sora, Death-Toy Scissors Bear was still looking for Odd Eyes.

It then looked at Sora, confused as it can't find the monster that was destroyed.

"Huh? Hey where's Odd Eyes? It should be in the graveyard," Sora noted.

"That's because it's not!" Yuya called out.

"Wait what?" Sora turned around to look at her.

"I made a new discovery! Odd Eyes, instead of going to the graveyard when it was destroyed, went to my Extra deck instead!" Yuya exclaimed.

"Huh?????" The kids asked.

"How did Odd Eyes get there?" Yuichi asked.

Sora stood there in shock for a couple of seconds before throwing his head back and laughing.

"Awesome! Destroyed Pendulum monsters are sent to the Extra deck instead of the graveyard! That's first I've heard of it. If the monster wasn't sent to the graveyard, then Death-Toy Scissors Bear can't equip it. I end my turn. What will you do now, Sensei?" Sora asked, excited.

"Don't call me that! Ahem...it's my turn!" Yuya dramatically drew a card and looked at it.

Perfect, she thought.

"All the actors have now gathered!" She exclaimed and leapt backwards onto a choco rock.

"It's time for a Pendulum Summon! Using the already set scale of 1 and 8, I can Pendulum summon monsters from level 2 through 7! I Pendulum summon!" Yuya called out.

Two beams of light popped out of the Pendulum scale.

"Performapal Cheermole (ATK: 600. DF: 1000)!" Yuya started.

A pink mole wearing a white and green cheerleading outfit appeared. It frantically looked around before diving underground.

"Return to the field, Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon!" Yuya finished and her Ace appeared and roared.

"Wow! Yuya can Pendulum summon from the Extra deck as well!" Tatsuya cheered.

"This is giving me the shivers!" Futoshi said while shaking.

"I'm impressed by the power of Pendulum monsters. When they're destroyed, they're sent to the Extra deck so duelists can Pendulum summon them over and over again. This is burning hot!" Syuzo cheered.

"And now I'll let my monsters take the lead. Starting with Performapal Sword Fish's effect. It reduces your monster's attack points by 600! Now here's a little math problem. What's 3000 minus 600?" Yuya asked.

"2400!" The kids shouted and Yuya nodded.

"Which means that Odd Eyes will be able to destroy Death-Toy Scissors Bear," Yuichi noted.

"That's right!" Yuya winked.

"Well the only other card other than Death-Toy Scissors Bear that I have on my field is my trap, Punch in a Box which I set in my last turn. If I activate it, Timegazer will just negate it which means there's nothing I can do to prevent my monster from being destroyed," Sora explained.

"Correct," Yuya told him.

"Well that may be true but I'll only take 100 points of damage if Odd Eyes destroys Death-Toy Scissors Bear which is not enough to defeat me," Sora said.

"I wonder about that," Yuya said which confused Sora.

"I activate Cheermole's effect! Come on, don't be shy," Yuya encouraged as the pink mole popped out from the ground.

"Everyone, look at her cheer! Isn't it adorable?" Yuya asked as Cheermole began to dance and wave her pom-poms around with hearts to fly out.

"Awwww, cute!" Ayu exclaimed, happily.

After Cheermole was done dancing, Yuya then started to explain what was that all about.

"Cheermole's effect increases the attack loss from an effect that lowers an attack by 1000," she explained.

Cheermole began to dance again and this time, released hearts towards Sword Fish, surrounded by a red aura.

Sword Fish created multiple copies of itself and shot them at Death-Toy Scissors Bear, causing it to shrink.

3000 —> 1400 ATK

"Instead of 600, Sword Fish lowered the attack of Death-Toy Scissors Bear by 1600!" Tatsuya cheered and got hugged by Futoshi who said, "The shivers are coming!"

"Then that means that Odd Eyes is stronger now!" Sora realized.

"Yep and not only that but when Odd Eyes battles a level 5 or higher monster, the damage is doubled. How shall I begin the battle phase?" Yuya asked and all of her friends shouted out, "Yes!"

"Battle! Attack Death-Toy Scissors Bear, Odd Eyes. Spiral Flame Strike!" Yuya shouted and Odd Eyes shot spirals of fire towards Sora's monster.

Death-Toy Scissors Bear tried to free itself from Sword Fish before getting blasted away by Odd Eyes.

The impact of the attack was so strong that it knocked Sora into a pile of whipped cream.

1800 —> 0 LPS

WINNER: Yuya Sakaki

"She did it!" Tatsuya and Futoshi cheered while Yuichi sighed in relief.

The Action Field disappeared and Yuya found Sora sitting in front of a wall.

She walked up to him and said, "Now remember. You and I made a deal. If I won, you don't get to follow me around and I don't have to be your teacher."

"But that was still so cool, Yuya!" Sora leaped up, excitedly. One thing that Yuya noted is that he didn't call her Sensei. He called her by her name.

"Why did you call me by my name?" She asked.

"Well since I can't be your apprentice, I'll be your friend instead," Sora replied.

"And hold on just a mome-," Yuya began to argue but Syuzo popped up.

"You two are friends now! Equals of You Show Duel School!" He cheered.

He then turned to Sora and asked, "will you join You Show Duel School?"

"Heh, why not? After all, You Show is tons more interesting than LID," Sora explained.

"Yahoo! I'm off to get the paperwork now! Two new students in the same month! New record!" Syuzo cheered and ran off.

"Speaking of LID, if you weren't a student there then where did you learn Fusion Summoning?" Yuya asked.

"Where I'm from, Fusion Summoning is pretty common," Sora explained.

"What type of place is that?" Yuya asked.

"Don't worry about it since we're friends now," Sora waved her off.

"That's a bad reason and besides, I didn't approve us being friends," Yuya said with a huff and turned away.

Sora placed a hand on her shoulder and said, "well it's a pleasure to meet you!" He gave her cheeky smile.

Yuya quickly turned around and snapped, "You're getting ahead of yourself again!"

"I can't wait to duel you again, Yuya!" Sora cheered.

"I WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS!" Yuya shouted while everyone laughed at this interaction.

Meanwhile, a group of high schoolers were walking by the You Show Duel School and one of them stopped to look at it.

He got called over by his friends and told that he was coming soon. He took one last glance at the Duel School.
