Show time!

(I'll be using the original Japanese names btw. Dialogue may or may not be the same. There will be some swearing here)

(Third Person PoV)

Set stage!

Setting was a beautiful Japanese building with cherry blossoms fluttering through the wind and a young man was standing there with two monsters by his side.

"Alright Yuya! It's time to show me what you got! Man to man...even if you're a girl!" Gongenzaka, the young man, exclaimed.

A young girl, around Gongzenka's age, arrived while riding on a pink hippo with a top hat.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! I activate the spell card, Hippo Carnival!" Yuya Sakaki shouted, happily.

Three colorful hippos appeared and began to dance.

"What?" Gongenzaka gave her a look like, 'are you kidding me.'

"Look at these dancing hippos!" Yuya exclaimed happily.

Meanwhile, another young man who was watching the duel, clench his fists.

"Come on Yuya...take this seriously!" He yelled and banged his fists on the control panels.

Big mistake since it then fizzled and pop making the young man flinch.

"Yuichi!" A man ran in and looked at his son, "I told you to treat this equipment kindly. We don't have the funds for a new one!"

"Sorry, dad," Yuichi apologized.

Then smoke came out of it and it made crackling noises.

Uh oh! Yuichi and his dad thought.

Meanwhile on the duel, Yuya was still having fun with the hippos when they suddenly disappeared, especially the pink one that she was riding on.

She stayed in midway, realized what happened and fell down rather comically.

Yuya held down her skirt so it wouldn't fly up as she fell and landed on her bottom.

"Ow...," she winced.

"Yuya! Are you ok?" Yuichi asked through the microphone.

Yuya responded with a funny face which made Yuichi groaned.

Gongenzaka walked up to her and held his hand out to help Yuya up which she took.

Then the four of them went to this room that would be a faculty meeting room if there were any other teachers that weren't Syuzo Hiragi who was also the principal.

He was crying about the broken Solid Vision system and how basically broke the school is.

"Well we can all blame Yuichi for that," Yuya giggled.

"Oh shut up. It's your fault. Your dueling distracted me," Yuichi glared at her, paper fan in hand.

"That's what it's supposed to do! I'm a Dueltainer like my dad! I'm supposed to entertain people and keep them distracted!" Yuya defended herself.

"Yuya...when your father was dueling, his duels can make even the most grumpiest man smile. He brought smiles everywhere and people laugh alongside him. Meanwhile your dueling is embarrassing and make people laugh at you!" Gongenzaka snapped.

"Excuse me!" A little girl with red hair came in with a rather oversized little boy.

Syuzo stopped crying and turned to look at them.

"What's wrong, Ayu? Futoshi?" He asked.

"There's someone who wants to talk to Yuya," Ayu said and the two of them stepped aside to reveal a man wearing purple glasses, a black and yellow shirt and had a wide smile.

"Hello! I'm Nico Smiley and I'm looking for a Yuya Sakaki," he said.

"Umm here?" Yuya raised her hand, unsure.

"You're Yuya Sakaki? Daughter of the greatest Action Dueltainer of all, Yusho Sakaki?" Nico asked and Yuya nodded.

"Excellent! I have a proposition for you!" Nico said.

"A proposition?" Yuya looked at every one around her but, minus Nico, everyone was just as confused as she was.

"I'm sure you remember that dreadful day, years ago when your father was challenged by the current champion, The Sledgehammer, and he never showed up to defend his title," Nico explained.

Yuya looked down, sadly. Oh she remembered that day alright.

(Flashback)

Scene set!

Setting was a duel area with a large man with purple spiked hair was waiting for the Action Duel Champion to show up.

There were crowds of people waiting in the stadium, either fans of the challenger or fans of the Dueltainer.

To everyone's shock, the greatest Dueltainer of all time, never showed up.

People were sad and some were disappointed where they began to insult Yusho Sakaki.

"Boo! Coward!"

"I bet he got scared and ran with his tail behind his legs!"

"No one can beat The Sledgehammer now!"

"Stop it!" Somewhere in the stands, a little girl with green and red hair ran to the front seats where she would be facing The Sledgehammer.

"My dad isn't a coward! I'll duel in his place!" She shouted.

"Yuya!" A woman with yellow hair ran after her and grabbed her daughter.

"No! Duel me instead!" Little Yuya shouted, tears running down her face as people kept insulting her father.

(End of flashback)

Yuichi noticed how upset Yuya looked and turned to face Nico, arms crossed.

"Why bring that up now?" He asked, sternly.

"Well I figured that maybe bring that little girl's wish come true during that day. Have Yuya here duel The Sledgehammer and regain her father's honor in the Dueling community," Nico explained.

"Me? Duel The Sledgehammer?" Yuya asked, pointing to herself. She appeared to be nervous.

"In front of...a large crowd of people? Dad, he can't be serious," Yuichi looked at him.

"He's right. I won't let Yuya humiliate herself in front of a large crowd," Syuzo nodded.

"And if she wins, I'll even throw in the newest version of Solid Vision, free of charge," Nico added on.

"Yuya go duel The Sledgehammer!" Syuzo cheered, happily.

Smack!

He face planted the floor, Yuichi standing over him while holding the paper fan.

"Dad!" He yelled.

"Chill, Yuichi. I'm sure that I'll be fine," Yuya finally spoke up and placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Yuya, are you sure about this?" Gongenzaka asked.

"I'm more than sure! I'll finally avenge my dad for this and...I want to make my mark in the Dueling world just like my dad. So I'll duel that Sledgehammer and win!" Yuya exclaimed.

"Yuya...alright fine but don't mess around like you usually do. Don't humiliate yourself," Yuichi instructed.

"Will do!" Yuya saluted.

"Excellent! We'll get the paperwork out of the way as quickly as we can! How does tomorrow for the duel work?" Nico asked.

"T-tomorrow?!" Yuya yelped.

"But isn't that too soon?" Yuichi asked.

"Well the Sledgehammer picked the day of the duel since I gave this proposition to him. He didn't exactly wanted to duel the daughter of the former Action Duel Champion for I don't know know what reason. It took a while for negotiations and I had to run here in order to bring up this proposition to Yuya," Nico explained.

"Damn...even if Yuya agreed right away, you'll have to give her some time to prepare for the duel," Yuichi pointed out.

"I agree. At least give her some time," Gongenzaka nodded.

"Well she has today and early tomorrow to prepare. That should be enough," Nico said.

"Oh that f*c-," Yuichi started but got interrupted by his dad.

"Yuichi, no there's children here," Syuzo said.

"Ah...sorry," Yuichi apologized.

"It's fine but you do realize that Yuya left right?" Ayu asked.

"Wait what?" Everyone gasped.

(Meanwhile)

Scene set!

Setting, front of the ocean while sitting on a bench, Yuya was staring at the sunset with her goggles over her eyes.

She was remembering something that her father had told her once.

(Flashback)

Yuya was crying because she had lost a duel. She worked so hard to try and beat her opponent but she just couldn't.

"Yuya? Oh there you are?" Yusho Sakaki arrived and spotted his daughter sitting on the bench.

Yuya continued to cry.

"What's wrong?" Yusho sat next to her and Yuya hugged him tight.

"I...*hic*...I lost a duel today. I'm sorry, Dad," she sobbed.

"Oh Yuya," Yusho hugged his daughter back and comforted her.

He then wiped the tears off of her face before smiling at her.

"You know, dueling is not all about winning," he started.

"Huh?" Yuya asked.

"Yes, winning is a good feeling but we learn from losing. Dueling is like a pendulum," Yusho took Yuya's bracelet off to show her the pendulum that was dangling from it.

"A pendulum swings from one way to another. It may go your way, it may go another. Now always remember this, Yuya," he gave her her bracelet back.

"Whenever a duel is going one way, remember that it must come down to the other direction. Whether it'll go your way or not is up to you. Never forget that," Yusho finished.

(End of flashback)

A pendulum swings from one way to another, Yuya thought and held up her bracelet where the pendulum is.

Will this duel swing my way or the Sledgehammer's way? She thought.

"I thought I'd find you here," a voice said behind her.

"Yuichi," Yuya turned out to see her childhood friend.

He sat next to her and placed his hands behind his head.

"Nervous?" He asked.

"Pffft nah! I'm never nervous! I'll defeat the Sledgehammer in no time," Yuya exclaimed, trying for a smile.

"Sure...so what's the plan?" Yuichi asked.

"The plan...just...look I'll be honest, I have no clue what to do. I just...I just don't want to let anyone down. Not me, not you, not the school and not my dad wherever he is," Yuya admitted.

Yuichi frowned at this.

"Are you positive that you want to do this?" He asked.

"Well yeah but...," Yuya trailed off.

Yuichi looked at her, concern in his eyes.

"Yuya...," he then looked over at her bracelet.

"Are you remembering your dad's advice?" He asked.

"Yeah. Which way will the duel swing? My way or The Sledgehammer's way?" Yuya wondered.

"Well whatever happens, I'll be by your side. Cheering you on, no matter what," Yuichi assured her.

"What? Really!" Yuya's eyes sparkled at this and Yuichi nodded.

"We have been friends for so long, it would be real sh*tty of me to not support you in this," he explained.

"Yeah, real sh*tty," Yuya giggled.

Yuichi lightly bonked her on the head with his paper fan which Yuya blew a raspberry at him for it.

"Hey Yuichi?"

"Yeah?"

"Thank you."

"Anytime."

A/N: lol guess who has a new story?

The grind never stops.
