(3rd Person PoV)

Scene set!

Setting was a hallway where Principal Syuzo was standing on a platform and was talking through a microphone so the crowd could hear him.

"The You Show school teaches Dueltaining which was made popular by the legendary Dueltainer Yusho Sakaki! Thanks to the sudden evolution of Duels that was sparked by the ARC system that was made by the Leo Corporation-," he was explaining but got interrupted by so many people yawning.

"Boo!"

"This is boring!"

"I want to see Pendulum summoning. How long do we have to listen to this old man drone on?"

This wasn't going great.

"Ladies and gentlemen!" A loud voice exclaimed from inside a dueling platform.

The crowd whirled around to see what was inside the dueling platform and Yuya stood there, spotlight on her.

"Welcome one and all to my one man show! I hope you're all ready for this!" She giggled but then got smacked on the head by Yuichi's fan.

"Umm, I'm participating too. You can't duel on your own, you know," he lectured her.

"Hey! Don't hit a cute girl like that!" A guy in the crowd shouted.

"You interrupted her as well! You should forfeit!" Another guy said.

And then the whole crowd (ok not all of them) began to shout angrily at Yuichi.

A red tick mark appeared on Yuichi's head as he glared at the crowd.

"Ok then...if you must paint me as a villain, then I'll play the effing villain!" He snapped.

He then pointed at Yuya and shouted, "Don't get a big head now just because you're famous! I'll beat the tar out of you!"

"....uhhh what?" Yuya looked confused. Why is Yuichi acting like this?

"Look, they want me to play the villain here so just help me out here and go with the charade," Yuichi whispered.

"Ah ok...HOLY CRAP! YOU'VE BEEN SENT BY THE SLEDGEHAMMER!!" Yuya cried.

"Huh?!" Yuichi then imagined himself in the Sledgehammer's attire and immediately thought it was a cursed image.

This made him more mad.

"It is ridiculous, that you'd return here to get revenge for your master! I'll beat you with Pendulum Summoning!" Yuya cried, dramatically while Yuichi shook in anger and goes up in flames, eyes glowing reddish pink with anger.

"I'LL MAKE YOU EAT YOUR WORDS!" Yuichi shouted.

"Haha, they look like they're having fun," Futoshi laughed.

"Uh huh...sure. Hey, Gongenzaka! Turn on the Solid Vision system, the crowd is getting fired as well as Big Bro and Big Sis," Ayu told him.

Gongenzaka grumbled at this but he did so.

"The Field Spell, Plain Plain is activated now!" Yuichi exclaimed.

The field turned into a grassy plain with cool air and realistic water which Syuzo points out but no one in the crowd really cared which made him sad.

"Duelists locked in battle!" Yuya chanted.

"Kicking against the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monster," Yuichi chanted as well.

They both activated their Duel Disks as they chanted.

"They storm through this field!" Yuya shouted.

"Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution of dueling!" Yuichi declared.

"ACTION!" Yuya snapped her fingers and the Action cards got scattered around the field.

"Let's Duel!"

Yuya - 4000 LPS

VS

Yuichi - 4000 LPS

"I'll go first! I summon Performapal Hip Hippo (ATK: 800. DF: 800)!" Yuya announced.

"Hey I remember when she used that hippo to look for Action cards," a person from the crowd noted.

"Is Yuya going to do that again?" Another person asked.

"I'm so flattered that you all remembered that detail from my duel!" Yuya cheered. She then turned her attention to Yuichi.

"I end my turn by the way!" She called out and hopped on Hip Hippo.

"I won't let you use that same strategy! My turn," Yuichi drew a card.

"I summon Aria the Melodious Diva (ATK: 1600. DF:1200)! And now I attack you! Piercing note!" He shouted.

A humanoid monster with purple hair appeared and sung out a sound wave, directing it towards Hip Hippo.

"Uh oh...," Yuya looked around and spotted an Action Card.

"I use Evasion meaning that your attack is negated. Rolling Hippo!" She called out and Hip Hippo did a somersault to dodge the attack.

"Well then, I'll just activate Aria's effect. When she can't deal battle damage, Aria can inflict you 800 points of damage. Resonating Wave!" Yuichi shouted, not giving up.

Aria sung up another sound wave and directed it to Yuya.

It pushed Yuya off of her hippo, causing to fly off and landed on her back.

4000 —> 3200 LPS

"Ohohoho! You can't escape me! I end my turn!" Yuichi crackled with fake evilness.

Yuya sat up and whined, "Ow...that hurt."

"Oi, this isn't the time to complain. You're making me play the villain so might as well act cool," Yuichi whispered to her.

"I know, I know. But you didn't have to go that hard," Yuya complained.

Yuichi rolled his eyes at this.

"Come on, Big Sis Yuya! You can do this!" Ayu cheered.

"I think it's time for a Pendulum Summoning," Futoshi suggested.

"PENDULUM! PENDULUM! PENDULUM!" The crowd chanted.

"Yuya, look! They're all looking forward to it. So show them what they want to see," Yuichi told her.

Yuya got up and dusted off her skirt.

"Alright! Leave it to me!" Yuya said, pumped up.

"The fun has just began!" She spun around and struck a pose alongside Hip Hippo.

"That's not what I mean," Yuichi deadpanned.

"My turn," Yuya drew a card and smiled when she saw what card she drew.

I have Timegazer Magician which is what I used to Pendulum summon last time. I don't remember how I did but I saw it on TV earlier and I think I can replicate it again, she thought

"I'll set the Pendulum scale by using Scale 4 Odd Eyes Pendulum Dragon (ATK: 2500. DF: 2000) with Scale 8 Timegazer Magician(ATK: 1200. DF: 600)!" She shouted.

The two monsters got beamed up in a pillar of light.

The crowd looked at it in awe.

"And now I will Pendulum summon Performapal Whipsnake (ATK: 1700. DF: 900) and Performapal Swordfish (ATK: 600. DF: 600)!" Yuya shouted.

Everyone was waiting anxiously to see what will happen next...

ERROR!

Flashed Yuya's duel disk.

"Huh? Hey where's the Pendulum summoning?" Someone in the crowd asked.

"What happened?" Ayu and Futoshi asked.

Yuya blushed with embarrassment and looked at her duel disk.

She placed the Pendulum cards down again and still got the error message.

"Come on! Why isn't this working? Why aren't my Pendulum cards responding?" Yuya cried.

"What are Pendulum cards?" Someone in the crowd asked.

Damn! This isn't working. Come on Yuya, think! What happened during the fight with the Sledgehammer? Yuya thought.

She thought long and hard about it before snapping her fingers.

I got it! When Odd Eyes was destroyed, I was in a pinch and then I Pendulum summoned after! So that means...

"Pendulum summoning only works if you're in a pinch! Heh, that's a classic," Yuya declared.

She then turned to Yuichi.

"I end my turn. Now attack me with everything you got!" Yuya shouted.

"Eh? Are you sure?" Yuichi asked and Yuya nodded rapidly.

"Don't hold back on me," she winked.

"...alright then. My turn and when I have another Melodious monster on my field, I can special summon Sonata the Melodious Diva (ATK: 1200. DF: 1000)," Yuichi stated.

A blue green humanoid monster appeared next to Aria.

"And now I tribute them to advance summon Mozarta the Melodious Maestra(ATK:2600. DF:2000)!" Yuichi shouted and his two monsters joined hands and then vanished into a ripple of green light.

Out of that light came out a humanoid monster with a red poofy dress, golden wings and short silvery hair. She was holding onto a maestro stick.

"Once per turn, I can summon a lower level light monster from my hand. I summon another Aria thanks to Mozarta's effect!" Yuichi added on.

Another monster joined Mozarta on Yuichi's field.

"First I'll destroy Hip Hippo with Aria! Piercing note!" Yuichi shouted.

Aria sung out a sound wave, directing it towards Hip Hippo which destroyed it.

3200 —> 2400 LPS

"Keep going!" Yuya told him.

"PENDULUM! PENDULUM!" Everyone minus Yuichi began to chant.

"YOU CAN DO IT, YUYAAAAA!" Syuzo shouted.

"Hit me with your best shot!" Yuya cheered.

"Now Mozarta! Attack Yuya directly with Graceful Wave!" Yuichi shouted.

Mozarta's wings glowed and attacked with piano keys.

"Looks like I'm in a bit of a pinch. It's time for a Pendulum Summoning," Yuya noted and tried placing her cards down but to everyone's surprise, the error message appeared on her duel disk again.

"No way...," Yuya said and got a face full of virtual piano keys by Mozarta's attack.

2400 —> 0 LPS

WINNER: Yuichi Hiragi

Yuya hit the wall and landed on a bush.

"..." everyone was silent.

"What happened?" Futoshi asked.

"Is it over?" Ayu asked.

And then someone made an inappropriate remark about Yuya's...undergarments that was showing as she lied on the bush.

"Hey! Don't look at it when she's helpless right now!" Yuichi snapped, defending his friend before running towards Yuya.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"I...I don't know what happened?" Yuya admitted, still not over the shock.

Later, both of them stand in front of the crowd and Yuya gripped at the edges of her skirt, embarrassed.

A boy from the crowd raised his hand and asked, "Hey, what are these 'Pendulum cards' that you mentioned earlier?"

"Yeah, I have been wondering about that too?" Yuichi asked.

"I-I don't really know. I don't know their official name, I just called them that," Yuya admitted.

"Wait a minute. Yuya, show them to me," Yuichi told her.

"Huh?" Yuya seemed confused but then she took out Timegazer and showed the card to Yuichi.

He took out his Aria card and compared the two.

"They're different," he noted.

"What? So this means that we can't Pendulum summon if we don't have Pendulum cards! That's so unfair," the boy who asked previously snapped.

"Does Pendulum summoning even exist?" Another asked.

"A-ha! You must have tricked the system somehow! There's no way that you would be able to summon that many monsters just like that!" Another guy said.

"Damn, despite having a cute face, she really is the daughter of a coward," someone said.

Then the crowd stormed out.

"H-hey wait! I didn't cheat!" Yuya called out but she got ignored.

"Now wait just a second!" Syuzo jumped in front of the crowd but got stampede over.

Rip. Don't worry, he lives.

Yuya sighed at this and pulled her goggles down and turned to walk away.

"Yuya, wait," Yuichi said but she ignores him.

"I believe you!" A voice suddenly shouted, making her stop.

Yuya turned around to see the same blue haired boy that she saw at the arena.

"I know that you aren't a cheat, B-Big Sis Yuya! You won, fair and square against the Sledgehammer! You beat him with Pendulum summon!" The boy continued to shout.

"Yuya," Gongenzaka appeared and placed his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Doesn't it frustrate you that your first fan has to say this?" He asked.

"First fan?" Yuya asked.

"His name is Tatsuya. He has been here before in a study group and he was also there to answer your question during your duel with the Sledgehammer," Yuichi explained.

"Yeah and after seeing that duel, he became a fan of yours," Ayu explained.

"That duel must have give him the shivers," Futoshi added.

"I thought of you as amazing! Being able to duel in front of a large crowd like that! Being able to bring all of those people together. I...I want to have a duel like that!" Tatsuya exclaimed.

"!"

Yuya gasped softly at this. The feeling of being able to entertain people with her dueling and being able to do that in front of a large crowd.

I wish to do that again, she thought.

"Yuya, you remade yourself in that duel and now you must never run away from it again," Gongenzaka reminded her.

He also added, "Do it for your fans."

"Yeah! We're your fans too!" Ayu jumped up.

"Now we must celebrate Tatsuya's membership in enrollment in here," Futoshi suggested.

This perked Syuzo up and he exclaimed, "WE HAVE A NEW STUDENT!"

Yuya lifted up her goggles and said, "Well, a Dueltainer can't let her fans down, can she?"

Yuichi smiled at this and handed her card back.

"Alright then! Time for the fun to start! Yuichi, Gongenzaka, duel me and help me master Pendulum summon!" Yuya cheered and her two friends nodded.

(Meanwhile)

A blond boy around the age of Yuya and Yuichi was throwing darts at something while on the phone that was connected to his Duel Disk.

"So all I have to do is steal her Pendulum cards, right?" He asked.

"That is correct and in exchange, we'll trade you the rare cards that you have been looking for," the voice from the phone told him.

The boy grinned at this.

"I'm looking forward to this," he threw another dart and looked at what he was throwing darts at.
