Chapter Seven
Three days had passed and Yuechan could see that Lu Yuxuan was injured. Every step he took despite his expression showing change appeared to grow harder and harder for him to take.
Unlike her and her brother, he didn't seem to be tired but as the days grew long she noticed he slowly started to favor his left side more and more.
When he staggered for the third time she'd finally had enough and stepped forward to grab his arm and throw it over her shoulder.
Flustered he stared at her in surprise and attempted to pull away. "I-I am fine, there is no need."
She clicked her tongue. "You're obviously injured, why didn't you say anything when we first met?"
He averted his gaze. "It wasn't worth complaining about."
Yuechan narrowed her eyes on the side of his face. "You weren't thinking it was something you deserve to suffer, right?"
His silence was answer enough.
Sighing, she looked away from him observing the others around her who were struggling along. Like many, the dress she was wearing was now dirty. The trim now with mud and dirt. Her skin was sunburnt and dusty. If it wasn't for the possibility stirring up peoples notice, she'd have dived in her space and taken a shower.
Still, they'd managed to endure well over the last few days. She and the servants were doing a lot better than some of the other people who'd been gathered. The old were now being carried by their relatives, while children whined, and some even threw tantrums. Their mothers hurriedly quieted them when they saw the grumpy expressions of the guards.
Yuechan had to fight with herself every time to help. It was ingrained in her to help those who needed it, but in their current situation she couldn't take the risk, yet.
