Years later, Alexis and Y/N had both managed to become better duelists, Y/N especially due to the help from Alexis. Now, they were making their way to Duel Academy to take their entrance exams. They were to duel against a teacher, it wouldn't matter if they won or lost, as long as they showed potential or a passion for dueling and learning.

"Who are you going to face against? I have to duel against a guy named Doctor Crowler." Alexis said.

"A woman named Ruby Stephen" Y/N said.

They arrived and were waiting to be called in to duel. Eventually, Y/N was called down, he saw a young-looking woman standing there with a custom duel disk, it was painted purple and black. The woman had long brown hair, green eyes, fair skin and was quite tall. She wore a red jacket, a purple shirt, purple skirt, and red sneakers.

"Hello! I'm Ruby Stephen, hopefully, one of your future teachers at Duel Academy." Ruby said with a smile.

"Thank you, I'm really excited!" Y/N said, activating his duel disk.

She smiled. "It's time to duel!" Ruby said excitedly as her duel disk activated.

"I'll go first!" Ruby said, drawing a card. "I summon Dark Spellmaster in attack mode!"

A wizard in a dark red robe appeared, he had a wooden staff with a purple gem housing it's magic. It had 1800 ATK and 1200 DEF.

"Two cards face down, your turn!" Ruby said. "Show me what you can do!"

"Draw!" Y/N said. "I activate Epitome Calces! With it, I can draw a card and then discard a card from my hand, I choose Epitome Lamina!" Y/N said. "And since I discarded Lamina, he gets Special Summoned to the field!"

The knight appeared on the battlefield. 1900 ATK as always.

"Now, Lamina! Attack her Dark Spellmaster!" Y/N said.

"Activate trap card! Spell Barrier! This will protect my Spellmaster from being destroyed by negating your attack, and my Spellmaster gains 1000 attack points until the end of my next turn!" Ruby said.

"Fine, I'll set one card face down, your move!"

"I draw! I activate the spell card, Spell Gate! Whenever I play a spell card, I get a counter on my gate, and it gets a counter on itself from being activated." Ruby explained. "Now, Dark Spellmaster, attack his Lamina!" Ruby commanded.

The spellmaster fired a bolt of red lightning at the iron knight, destroying it and dealing 900 damage to Y/N.

"When my Dark Spellmaster destroys a monster, I can reveal the top card of my deck, and if it's a spell card, I can add it to my hand." Ruby said.

The top cards of her deck were revealed, it was Bond Between Teacher and Student.

"And now, it's added to my hand. I end my turn, and my Spellmaster's attack points are returned to normal." Ruby explained, only to see her Spellmaster crack and explode.

"What?" Ruby asked as she also took 900 damage.

"That was my Epitome Vindicta. Since you destroyed one of my Epitome monsters this turn, I can activate it. Vindicta destroys one monster you control, and you take damage equal to half of that monster's original attack points." Y/N explained.

"Not bad, but that only triggered this trap! Magical Inheritance! Since a Spellcaster type monster was destroyed, I can normal summon any Level 8 or lower Spellcaster type monsters from my hand without sacrifice during my next turn." Ruby said.

"Draw." Y/N said. "I'll set one card face down, I end my turn." Y/N said.

"My turn. Now, I summon Dark Magician!" Ruby said.

The Dark Magician appeared on the battlefield, it was the Dark Magician with black robes.

"Woah!" Y/N said.

"Now I'll activate Pot of Greed! Allowing me to draw two extra cards!" Ruby said. "And that gives my Spell Gate another counter! Then, I'll use the spell card Bond Between Teacher and Student! This'll allow me to special summon a Dark Magician Girl from my deck and set a Dark Magician spell card! I'll set Dark Burning Attack!" Ruby said.

Dark Magician Girl then appeared, causing some students to cheer.

"Now, Dark Magician will attack!" Ruby said.

"Trap card activate! Epitome Custos! By discarding a card from my hand, I can negate your attack and end the battle phase. Of course, this triggers the Epitome I discarded to be summoned to the field, come forth! Epitome Luna!"

From a blue summoning circle appeared a giantess with blue mage robes, she looked tired. Epitome Luna had 3000 ATK and 2500 DEF.

"And as long as Epitome Luna on the field, you can only special summon one monster each turn." Y/N said.

"Alright, I'll activate Spell Gate! By removing three counters from it, I can add any spell from my deck to my hand! I'll search my deck for Thousand Knives, and then activate it, destroying Luna!"

"Nice try, teach! My trap Epitome Praesidium activates! This protects my Epitomes from being destroyed this turn!" Y/N said.

"I end my turn with one face down." Ruby said.

"Then I guess it's my turn." Y/N said, drawing a card. "I'll activate Epitome Imperium! This will double my Luna's attack, and will allow her to attack twice, but she's destroyed next turn and she deals no battle damage this turn! Now, Luna! Attack Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl!"

"Dark Magician's destroyed. When you attack Dark Magician Girl, I'll activate Magical Hats!" Ruby said.

Four hats appeared on the field.

"If you wanna destroy my Magician Girl, you gotta find her first. Oh, and Magical Hats will add a Spell Counter to my Spell Gate." Ruby said(This is the anime version of Magical Hats).

"I attack...The far-right!" Y/N said.

Luna attacked the hat with a blue energy wave.

"You destroyed Arcane Charge, nice try." Ruby said.

"I end my turn, and Luna will be destroyed." Y/N said.

"My turn! This is the end! Activate the effect of Arcane Charge in my graveyard! By banishing it, I can give any Spellcaster I control a permanent boost of 500 to their attack and defense, and since I targeted a monster with 'Magician' in it's name, another 500 is added, making my Magician Girl's attack 3300, enough to beat you!" Ruby said. "Dark Magician Girl! Attack with Dark Burning Attack!"

Y/N looked at his hand and sighed. The magical fire hit Y/N, bringing his life points to zero. Ruby then walked up to him.

"Hey, what are you sad about?" Ruby asked.

"I...I won't be in the academy now, right?" Y/N asked.

Ruby chuckled. "Wrong. You're joining. Your passion for dueling, the bond you have with your deck, I saw it fully. It would be a big mistake to not accept you into the academy. Y/N L/N, welcome to Duel Academy."

Y/N was overjoyed. His dream had come true, and now he was going to become an even better duelist.
