Episode 9 Deus Rematch and Announcement (Vade v. Odin)

Kaiba: Well, this just in. Thanks to those challenges made we now have our card forming for the next broadcast

Kaiser (Rank 21; 0-3) v. Tempest (Rank 23; 0-3)

Kaiba: But I have a major announcement, if you may excuse me.

Kaiba steps out of the commentary booth and then reappears in the middle of the duel field through a special entrance platform.

Kaiba: If I may have everyone's attention, I got a big announcement. After this next episode, we will have our very first Duel League Major Event, entitled appropriately as, GENESIS. The start after the Tournament that saw us crown our Duel League Champion, Irvine. Now why bring that up, because for the first time ever, Irvine will defend his Duel League championship against none other than the upstart, the UNDEFEATED, Duke!

The screen then shows the graphic
DUEL LEAGUE GENESIS
Duke (Rank 2; 4-0) v. Irvine (Rank 7; 2-1) (C) for the Duel League Championship

Kaiba: Also, due to the challenge thrown earlier by Mahad or supposedly Mahad, he will now be facing Pat on Genesis

The screen then shows the graphic
DUEL LEAGUE GENESIS
Pat(Rank 9; 2-1) v. Mahad? (Rank 22; 0-4)

Kaiba: But for next week, we have just received word that another match has been added. Pat will face Irvine in a non-title match

Kaiser (Rank 21; 0-3) v. Tempest (Rank 23; 0-3)
Irvine (Rank 7; 2-1) (C) v. Pat (Rank 9; 2-1)

Kaiba: The surprises do not end there. After the very first Tag Duel on Duel League, the board has decided that we will be launching a Tag Force tournament sometime after Genesis with the winner being crowned at the next Major event as the Inaugural, Duel League Tag Force Champions!

Joey: Big announcements from Seto!

Jack: Our first ever Major Event, then the Tag Force Championship tournament. This will be an interesting next few days.

Kaiba returns from the middle of the duel field back to the Commentary Booth.

Kaiba: That was quite the announcement but we now have word that both of our duelists competing next are by the entranceways. Announcer, take it away!

Announcer: The following is a ranked duel! First, accompanied by Cobalt and.... *skips the other robed figure in crimson robe*... Vade! (Rank 6; 3-0)

Vade comes out with his two new disciples, Cobalt and an unnamed crimson robed individual.

Kaiba: This is quite impressive what he has done. We see Vade here with his new order...

Joey: This means he is all business to take in the former Xavi and Mahad and turn them into those beings...

Jack: But it remains to be seen if this will translate into a path of dominance being one of the few with a zero loss record.

Announcer: And his opponent, Odin! (Rank 8; Record: 2-1)

Kaiba: Ah yes, the other "god" user.

Jack: Those Nordic Aesirs are no joke Seto.

Joey: Gonna take his word for it. But he walks in unfazed against someone with robed goons behind him.

As Odin approaches his side of the field, Vade looks across as the crimson robed individual and Cobalt watch on.

Announcer: Let the duel begin!

Duel Start
Turn 1 (Vade 8000; Odin 8000)
Vade's Main Phase 1
Vade: I set 2 cards facedown and end my turn

Turn 2 (Vade 8000; Odin 8000)
Odin draws a card for Draw Phase and moves to the Main Phase 1
Odin: I set 3 cards facedown and summon Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant (LIGHT/2*/Fairy/Tuner/Effect/ATK400/DEF800)

Kaiba: What a weak start!

Jack: Uhh Seto...

Odin: I use VAlkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant as Link Material to Link Summon Gullveig of the Nordic Ascendant (LIGHT/Link - 1/ Fairy/ ATK800).

Joey: No way!

Jack: Here it comes....

Odin: I activate its effect. I can banish up to 3 cards from my hand and/or field to special summon that many Nordic monsters in defense. I cannot special summon monsters except Aesir monsters. So I banish my 3 facedown cards I just set (Forbidden Lance, Forbidden Dress and Forbidden Chalice to Special Summon from the deck, Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts (EARTH/3*/Beast/Effect/ATK1200/DEF800), Tanngnjostr of the Nordic Beasts (EARTH/3*/Beast/Effect/ATK800/DEF1100) and Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant (DARK/4*/Fairy/Tuner/Effect/ATK1200/DEF400). All in Defense Position.

Jack: How will Vade get out of this one?

Odin: I can only Special Summon Aesir Monsters due to Gullveig's effect. That being said, I tune Vanadis of the Nordicc Ascendant to Tanngrisnir and Tanngnjostr (4+3+3=10) to Synchro Summon, Odin, Father of the Aesir in Attack Position (LIGHT/10*/Fairy/Synchro/Effect/ATK4000/DEF3500).

Kaiba: This will end fast

Battle Phase
Odin: Odin, direct attack! (4000LP Damage to Vade)

(Vade 4000; Odin 8000)

Odin: Gullveig, direct attack! (800LP Damage to Vade)

Vade 3200; Odin 8000

End Phase
Odin: I end my turn. Where are those Sacred Beasts that made those two goons of yours?

Turn 3 (Vade 3200; Odin 8000)
Vade's Draw Phase
Vade draws a card

Joey: This is the Nordic lock. He can't get rid of Gullveig without getting rid of Odin

Vade's Main Phase 1
Vade: I activate a Continuous Spell Card, Opening of the Spirit Gates. When this card is activated, I can add 1 Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder, Raviel, Lord of Phantasms or any monster that specifically lists any of those cards in its text from the deck to my hand. I choose Dark Beckoning Beast to my hand, and summon it in Attack Position (DARK/2*/Fiend/ATK0/DEF0). I activate its effect to add 1 Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder,, Raviel, Lord of Phantasms or any monster that specifically lists any of those cards in its text from the deck to my hand. I add to my hand Dark Summoning Beast.

Dark Summoning Beast is added to Vade's hand.

Vade: I activate the effect of Opening of the Spirit Gates. I can discard 1 card from my hand to Special SUmmon 1 Fiend type monster with 0ATK/DEF. I discard Dark Summoning Beast for me to Special SUmmon it from my Graveyard (DARK/5*/Fiend/Effect/ATK0/DEF0)

Joey: Why did he do that?

Kaiba: Ugh, Wheeler you imbecile!

Vade: I activate Dark Summoning Beast's effect. I can Tribute this card to Special Summon 1 Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder or Raviel Lord of Phantasms from my hand or deck. I tribute Dark Summoning Beast to Special Summon from the deck, Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder in Defense Position (LIGHT/10*/Thunder/Effect/ATK4000/DEF4000).

Odin: I see you won't attack.

Vade: When I summon using Dark Summoning Beast this way, monsters I control cannot attack for the rest of my turn. But for Hamon's effect while it is in defense, you cannot target other monsters for attacks except Hamon. I also activate a Field Spell Card, Mound of the Bound Creator.

Kaiba: Oh no way...

Joey: What's going on?

Vade: Level 10 or higher monsters on the field cannot be targeted or destroyed by card effects. The rest of the effects will come to play when a monster is destroyed or this card is destroyed. I end my turn.

Joey: This is getting interesting

Kaiba: Who will give way is the next question.

Turn 4 (Vade 3200; Odin 8000)
Odin draws a card for Draw Phase and moves to the Main Phase 1
Odin: I summon Tyr of the Nordic Champions (LIGHT/4*/Warrior/Effect/ATK2000/DEF2000). I also set a card and end my turn.

Jack: How the tides have turned!

Turn 5 (Vade 3200; Odin 8000)
Vade's Draw Phase
Vade then began to smirk as he drew his card

Main Phase 1
Odin: I activate a Continuous Spell Card, Swords of Concealing Light. change all my opponent's monsters to face-down Defense Position and the monsters you control cannot change ther Battle Positions.

Odin, Father of the Aesir and Tyr of the Nordic Champions switch to facedown Defense Position.

Kaiba: He turned things around

Joey: That is true but why is Gullveig still in attack position?

Kaiba: Jack, just tell him *annoyed*

Jack: Joey, Link monsters cannot be set. They can only be placed on the field in Attack Position. No more, no less.

Vade: I switch Hamon to attack position and move to my Battle Phase.

Battle Phase
Vade: Hamon (ATK4000) attack Gullveig (ATK800)

Joey: Isn't Gullveig immune to being attacked?

Kaiba: *facepalms* Jack!

Jack: Gullveig has no monster pointing towards it faceup so it's basically an open target

Odin: Not gonna make it that easy. I activate a Trap Card, Nordic Relic Gungnir! I can banish an Easir or Nordic monster I control then target 1 card on the field to destroy it.

Vade: Are you not aware that you cannot destroy Hamon nor target it by effects due to my Mound of the Bound Creator, which also your Nordic Aesirs will benefit from?

Kaiba: He's got a point.

Odin: Who says I'm Hamon or that field card? I banish Gullveig to destroy Swords of Concealing Light!

Swords of Concealing Light is destroyed due to Nordic Relic Gungnir.

Vade: Then we do a replay I attack your facedown monster in front of Hamon

Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder (ATK4000) destroys Odin's facedown monster, which was Odin, Father of the Aesir (DEF3500).

Vade: Let's not forget some things here. Hamon's effect activates. When this monster destroys a card by battle, the opponent loses 1000 Life Points. And, Mound of the Bound Creator activates. If a Level 10 (10*) or higher monster destroys a monster by battle and sents it to the Graveyard, the player who controlled the destroyed monster takes 1000 damage. So taste a quarter of life points flee away!

Hamon's and Mound of the Bound Creator's effect cause 2000LP damage to Odin!

Vade 3200; Odin 6000

Vade: I end my turn.

Turn 6 (Vade 3200; Odin 8000)
Odin's Draw Phase
Odin draws a card

Main Phase 1
Odin: I end my turn and Nordic Relic Gungnir's effect activates. After my 2nd End Phase after activation, the banished monster will return to my field

Nordic Relic Gungnir counter 1

Vade: Interesting.....

Turn 7 (Vade 3200; Odin 6000)
Vade's Draw Phase
Vade draws a card

Main Phase 1
Vade: I reveal Danger! Chupacabra! from my hand to activate its effect. My opponent will randomly choose 1 card from my entire hand and that card you choose will be discarded to my Graveyard.

Odin is left to choose from the 3 cards in Vade's hand, one of them to their knowledge as the revealed monster card just now.

Odin: I choose the middle card

Odin chose Puppet Master (DARK/6*/Fiend/Effect/ATK0/DEF0) to be discarded

Vade: Danger! Chupacabra!'s effect activates. Since the discarded card was not Danger! Chupacabra!, I special summon it from my hand in faceup attack position (DARK/4*/Fiend/Effect/ATK1500/DEF400). Also, due to its effect, I draw 1 card.

Vade draws a card.

Vade: Your fate is sealed upon you sullying my name in the tourney. I activate Opening of the Spirit Gate's effect. I discard 1 card from my hand to Special Summon 1 Fiend Monster with 0ATK/DEF from my Graveyard. I discard Chaos Hunter (DARK/7*/Fiend/Effect/ATK2500/DEF1600) to Special Summon Dark Summoning Beast (DARK/5*/Fiend/Effect/ATK0/DEF0).

Joey: He's building up monsters for what?

Kaiba: No way.... 2 Fiends on the field. That means

Vade: I summon Dark Beckoning Beast (DARK/2*/Fiend/Effect/ATK0/DEF0). I activate its effect since this card was Normal Summoned. I can add 1 Uria, Lord of Searing Flames, Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunderor Raviel, Lord of Phantasms or 1 card that specifically lists any of those cards in its text from my deck to my hand. I select, Raviel, Lord of Phantasms to add to hand.

Raviel, Lord of Phantasms was added to the hand.

Vade: I now Tribute Dark Summoning Beast, Dark Beckoning Beast and Danger! Chupacabra! to Special Summon, Raviel, Lord of Phantasms! (DARK/10*/Fiend/Effect/ATK4000/DEF4000).

Battle Phase
Vade: Hamon (ATK4000) destroy that facedown Tyr of the Nordic Champions (DEF2000).

Tyr of the Nordic Champions is destroyed by battle.

Vade: Hamon's effect activates once again along with Mound of the Bound Creator, take 2000 Life Point damage!

Vade 3200; Odin 4000

Vade: Gullveig isn't coming back. Raviel, destroy this infidel! (4000LP Damage to Odin)

Vade 3200; Odin 0

Announcer: The winner, Vade!

Kaiba: What a way to turn it around

Jack: The Nordic Aesirs....no match...for the Sacred Beasts...

Joey: That was...

Before Joey was to finish the sentence, Vade along with his two companions approached their side of the ramp before the lights grew dark around the arena. Minutes later, they disappeared, leaving a distraught Odin by his side of the field, shocked after such a loss.
