Duel League Episode 3 Revamp and Debut (Pat v. Fenix)
Backstage
AK had walked to the backstage area. Kaiba had followed suit.
AK: - kicking some crates - Come on!
Kaiba: Hey, hey! - calms AK down - What the hell was that?
AK: What the hell was what?
Kaiba: Now you act dumb? You've been losing if it hasn't gotten into your head. You dominated in the tournament. You couldn't beat Odin TWICE. You lose to Pattou now Pat and Strike. This is why we're seen as a bunch of sore losers.
AK: What the hell was I supposed to do?
Kaiba: You're big and old enough to figure that out. - walks away and back towards the Commentary area - You'd better beat back whoever it is you need to. You're making me doubt ever adopting you after all these losses.
AK can only stare angrily into the distance.
Commentary
Jack's and Joey's were widened in shock but the two regained composure to call the next few duels.
Jack: Okay, that was quite a surprise
Joey: Seto's pissed for sure.
Jack: No joking thanks to you egging him on.
Kaiba: - walks back - Let's call the next duel. That will be (8) Pat going head to head with (9) Fenix. A revamped deck which we have yet to see any change against Destiny Heroes.
Jack: This will be Fenix's post-tournament debut.
Joey: Let's not forget. A new Pat. No longer Pattou debuts too.
Kaiba: Let's get this on with the announcer.
Announcer: The following is a rank duel! First, Pat!

Kaiba: This is....new...
Joey: Shedding into a new identity I see.
Jack: Maybe this new identity will be the start of his own road to the Duel League Championship

Announcer: And his opponent, Fenix!
Kaiba: This will be quite a match-up. A Destiny Hero user that packs quite a punch
Joey: With powerful monsters to boot too
Jack: If anything, this will be interesting
Announcer: Let the duel begin!
Turn 1 (Pat 8000/ Fenix 8000)
Pat draws a card
Pat: I set a card and summon Harpie Queen (WIND/4*/Winged Beast/ATK1900/DEF1200). I end my turn.
Turn 2 (Pat 8000/ Fenix 8000)
Fenix draws a card
Fenix: I activate a Spell Card, Destiny Draw. I discard 1 Destiny HERO card to draw 2 cards. I discard Destiny HERO - Dread Servant to draw 2 cards.
Destiny HERO - Dread Servant is discarded to draw 2 cards
Fenix: I summon D-Cubed (DARK/1*/Machine/ATK/0/DEF0). As this card is Normal Summoned, this will be treated as a Destiny HERO monster while face-up on the field. And I activate D-Cubed's effect. I can discard up to 2 cards from my hand to Special Summon D-Cubed from my and, Deck and/or Graveyard equal to the number discarded. I discard from my hand D-Fusion and Dark City to Special Summon 2 more D-Cubeds (DARK/1*/Machine/ATK/0/DEF0; for each one).
Joey: This is similar to the tournament....
Fenix: I Tribute all 3 of my monsters to Special Summon, Destiny Hero - Dogma (DARK/8*/Warrior/ATK3400/DEF2400)
Pat: I activate a Trap Card, Bottomless Trap Hole. Since you summoned a monster with 1500 ATK or more, that monster is banished. Dogma is outta here!
Destiny HERO - Dogma is removed from play
Joey: Woah! Neutralized early on
Fenix: I end my turn
Turn 3 (Pat 8000/ Fenix 8000)

Pat: I end my turn
Kaiba: Tactical advantage with Pat.
Jack: Wouldn't say that. Fenix still has Plasma and the fusions
Turn 4 (Pat 8000/ Fenix 6100)
Fenix draws a card
Fenix: I end my turn
Joey: Well, he ran out of cards on hand and only now does he pay the price of such a high risk summoning.

Pat draws a card
Pat: Harpie Queen, direct attack! (1900 LP damage to Fenix)

Fenix draws a card
Fenix: I set a monster in facedown defense to end my turn
Jack: Is this his last gasp?
Joey: Hopefully not
Turn 7 (Pat 8000/ Fenix 4200)
Pat draws a card
Pat: I flip summon Man-Eater Bug (EARTH/2*/Insect/ATK450/DEF600).
Joey: Oh no!
Pat: I activate its effect. When this is flipped face up, I can destroy 1 monster on the field. I destroy your facedown monster.
Due to Man-Eater Bug's effect, Fenix's facedown Destiny HERO - Defender (DARK/4*/Warrior/ATK100/DEF2700) is destroyed.
Pat: I sacrifice Man-Eater Bug and Harpie Queen to summon, Guardian Angel Joan (LIGHT/7*/Fairy/ATK2800/DEF2000).
Joey: Wow! I didn't know he had such a monster!
Pat: I activate a Spell Card, Dian Keto the Cure Master. I gain 1000 Life Points
Pat 9000/ Fenix 4200
Pat: I attack you directly with Guardian Angel Joan! (2800 LP damage to Fenix
Pat 9000/ Fenix 1400
Turn 8 (Pat 9000/ Fenix 1400)
Fenix draws a card
Fenix: I set a monster in facedown defense to end my turn
Turn 9 (Pat 9000/ Fenix 1400)
Pat draws a card
Pat: I activate a Spell Card, Monster Reborn. I can Special Summon a Monster from either of our Graveyards. I resurrect, Destiny HERO - Defender (DARK/4*/Warrior/ATK100/DEF2700)
Fenix: What are you doing?
Pat: I sacrifice your Defender to Summon, Summoned Skull (DARK/6*/Fiend/ATK2500/DEF1200)
Kaiba: Quite smart of him but not as smart as me
Pat: I attack your facedown with Guardian Angel Joan
Guardian Angel Joan attacks Fenix's facedown monster, which was Destiny HERO - Defender (DARK/4*/Warrior/ATK100/DEF2700)
Pat: Guardian Angel Joan's effect activates. When this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard, I gain life points equal to the original ATK of the destroyed monster in the Graveyard. I gain 100 Life Points
Pat 9100/ Fenix 1400
Pat: Summoned Skull, finish the duel!
Pat 9100/ Fenix 0
Announcer: The winner, Pat!
Joey: Pat just destroyed Fenix and didn't even break that much of a sweat!
Jack: With or without Dark Magician, it doesn't make a difference as Pat was able to defeat his foe by lulling them into a false sense of security.
Kaiba: Last time it was a victory by Wave Motion Cannon. The other time, he was able to summon Divine Serpent Geh at the last minute. Now, Guardian Angel Joan and Summoned Skull. But I feel we have yet to see that deck he uses in full strength.
Jack: And coming up next will be (19) Wolfe against (23) Cloud. We will be right back!
