Yugioh: The Pharaoh's Return Series Season 1 Episode Summaries: 1-6

1. In the Flesh Pt. 1
5 years later after Pharaoh Atem left for the Afterlife, Yugi Moto has been growing up to finally be the man he was destined to become.  However, inside his heart although he made the right choice to let Atem go he still misses him.  Sadly in the Afterlife, Atem misses Yugi too. Yugi's friends Joey, Tristan and Tea try to cheer him up and tell him that he made the right choice and to just move on. Yugi reluctantly agrees with them, but secretly wishes that he could contact Atem somehow in the Afterlife to make sure he is ok.  He gets his chance that night by seeing a shooting star. Yugi makes the wish to see Atem again on that shooting star. Nothing happened in the Present, but in the Afterlife a tall dark cloaked figure could tell that someone wanted Atem out of the Afterlife. Although he didn't know who wanted him out. The mysterious figure decides to go with his instinct, and try to make an appointment with the Pharaoh. Too bad Atem has his hands full taking care of the Palace while his father is away for a while, as well as having to deal with Barbie, Miriam, and Lola. Atem's three sisters or The Three Stooges as Atem likes to say since they are so annoying.  However the mysterious figure knows what taking care of annoying siblings feels like, and decides to help Atem take care of his sisters in exchange for an appointment with the Mysterious yet legendary Reignwaker.  Atem thinks that the Reignwaker is still a myth in Egyptian Folklore.  The mysterious figure then reveals himself to be the Reignwaker.  Atem thinks that this cloaked weirdo is nuts and decides to run away from the palace, taking his trusty pet horse Kaverticus with him.  Little does he know that there is a big sandstorm coming for the entire Northeastern Africa County. Later, Atem does realize the sandstorm is coming and gets caught in it.   Luckily the Reignwaker notices this and saves him.  Atem, who got knocked out cold by the sandstorm wakes up noticing himself in a deep dark cave that's filled with amenities that you could usually get in a hotel.  Sitting on a nice warm bed with a table, chairs and even candle lights in front of him made it seem more of a home than a cave. He is even wearing bandages and is actually quite healthy The Reignwaker decides to ask Atem about what living within a Human felt like, especially since Atem did live in Yugi's body for quite sometime.  The Reignwaker is shocked by Atem's answer and then The Reignwaker asks him if he would like a body of his own.  Atem is shocked at this and wonders why? The Reignwaker explains that someone wanted him from the Afterlife so he could see him once more.  Atem begins crying and tells the Reignwaker that he really wants to be out of the Afterlife so he could see Yugi once more.  So the Reignwaker decides to give Atem a body of his own as well as be his guardian angel, and ally through the past present and future of his new life.     After getting a body of his own Atem escapes the Afterlife and finds himself back in the Present.

2. In the Flesh Pt. 2:
After finding himself back in the Present, Atem goes to find Yugi to tell him that he returned.  Meanwhile, Grown up Yugi is asleep in bed and he mysteriously starts to change back into a 15-year old while sleeping.  When Yugi wakes up, he looks into the mirror and screams. Afterwards, he runs out of his house only to bump into Atem who was following the screaming to Yugi's house.  They both hug each other for a moment then Atem tells Yugi how he got a body of his own and then introduces Yugi to the Reignwaker.  At first Yugi is scared but then he starts to trust him.  At school, Tea Joey and Tristan notice Yugi looking like a kid so they ask him what happened.   Yugi tells his friends about Atem returning, but they pretend not to believe him so that Yugi can forget about the topic and just move on with his life. Shocked that his friends don't want to hear about the Pharaoh's Return, makes Yugi angry enough to tell Atem and the Reignwaker what happened.  Atem just laughs and tells Yugi that their just messing with him so that he shouldn't worry. Yugi wishes to just prove to them that Atem does exist, and then remembers a prank Joey and Tristan pulled on him once. He then leads Atem and the Reignwaker to an alleyway where the contraption to create the prank is.  However Yugi's so-called friends are there too.  Yugi then wonders if Atem does have magic still.  Atem says he doesn't but that the Reignwaker does. Yugi then tells both of them to hide in plain sight while he goes to chat with his friends.  Meanwhile in a trashcan, the Reignwaker turns Atem into a wooden puppet so that he is not human anymore then he sends him out of the trashcan.  Yugi and co. notice the puppet and thinks it's just a toy that Yugi played with a long time ago, and was the toy he was looking for inside the trash just now. Then the toy speaks: "Hi I'm Yugi Moto; I'm not a puppet; I'm a real boy; Press my buttocks and I speak 5,000 phrases." That was the straw that broke the camel's back.  Luckily before anything was revealed Yugi gets away with puppet Atem and the Reignwaker. Later, Yugi decides to take Atem back to his house and hide him somewhere where nobody could see, hear, or even smell him, and believe me he did not smell like a bouquet of roses.   Too bad Grandpa notices the Puppet Atem who then turns back into his royal human self. At first, Grandpa is pretty pissed and decides to chase poor Atem all over the house. Then he realizes that Atem is real and tells Yugi's mom who already knew what happened since the Reignwaker was in the same room as her talking to Gloria Moto.  After giving Atem a bath, The Reignwaker then creates a huge roomy area for Atem to sleep in for the night and puts everything but the Kitchen sink inside including a huge maze and a staircase to a door that led to some sort of Clubhouse, which actually part of the Moto Residence's attic that was never used before until now.  Atem is thrilled at what the Reignwaker did and so are Yugi and his mom and Grandpa. The Next day, Yugi, Atem and the Reignwaker go back to the Alleyway where they find the contraption they were searching for yesterday. After finding it, Atem accidently presses a button causing the contraption to do its thing.  Yugi tries to stop it but breaks the machine instead.  Both Yugi and Atem start to cry and the Reignwaker tries to cheer them up and encourage them to put the contraption back together. After agreeing to do so, they manage to fix it so that it could work on Yugi's friends. Apparently, it does work on an annoyed looking Tea Gardener that is.  Once Tea finds out about Atem being real she attacks Atem by trying to knock him out cold. Atem grabs Tea's fist just in the knick of time. After realizing she's touching him Tea, Joey, and Tristan admit they were wrong about Atem not being real and never should have made Yugi angry or cause any pain to him in the first place. Then they decide to throw as Party in honor of Atem coming back to Domino City.

3. Palace Party Panic
At the party to welcome back Atem from the Afterlife, the Reignwaker, realizing that Atem has ran out of magic, decides to endow him with some of his own powers to help him when the time comes.  Those powers include Time Jumping, (The ability to travel through time to any time period of your preference with the options to alter any part of the time period without causing any harm to the other aspects of the time space continuum.) as well as the power to transform into any version of himself that he prefers. (Which includes his past self too) After giving Atem those powers, the Reignwaker then tells Yugi and Co. including Atem about a new mission starting tomorrow that all of them will have to take part in.  The good news is that they don't have to save the world yet again. The Bad news is that they have to take Atem back to his Ancient-Egyptian time so that the Annual Palace Ceremony can take place, and that everybody in Egypt knows that the Pharaoh is not dead anymore.  Yugi and Co. except Atem groans at the fact that they have to go back to Egypt just when they were getting to know the Pharaoh yet again.  Atem just laughs and says that he's only going there for a short time. And besides, he would be very obliged to give Yugi and Co. a grand tour of his palace as well.  This excites Yugi, but the others are still not convinced.  Yugi tells his friends it will be a lot of fun just having a normal time at the Palace rather than trying to save the world all the time 24/7. The other's agree at this and decide to help Atem get ready for his daily return back home.  When Yugi and Co. arrive in Egypt the next day, Atem does his Time-Jumping Power allowing him to go back to the time when he was still King and it was almost the Day of the Annual Palace Ceremony.  When they arrived at the Palace, Atem introduces Yugi and Co. to his Royal Family of 8 Millennium Item wielding guardians, 3 obnoxious sisters, and his pet cat Binky.  Then Atem goes to see his wife Teanna and also introduces her to Yugi and Co. Tea couldn't believe her luck when she saw Atem's wife Teanna because she looks exactly like her.  Plus, Tea thinks she has finally found the female friend she's always been looking for, and somehow she was right.  While Teanna and Tea decide to bond with each other, Yugi, Joey, and Tristan decide to help Atem get ready for the Ceremony.  2 hours later Atem walks into the Palace ballroom/courtyard ready to give his speech before the big party itself can commence.  Too bad during the speech, his sisters steal the spotlight and tell the people in the ballroom about Atem's secret life as the King of games and how he makes a complete fool of himself in the past 24/7.  Atem gets angry at them for ruining his speech and making him look foolish.  The festivities begin, and everyone is having fun except Atem and his Sisters who chase each other throughout the palace and back into the ballroom/courtyard where they crash the party ruining everything altogether.   Atem then bursts into tears and runs into his room with his friends following close behind.  After Yugi assures him that everything will be ok, Atem thanks him and realizes that the party is over.  Atem walks into the Ballroom/ Courtyard part of the palace shocked to see the Reignwaker and starts stammering out apologies.  The Reignwaker laughs and tells Atem that he will take care of everything. Yugi and Co. thank the Reignwaker and leave back for present- day Domino City. Except Atem who would rather stay one more night at the Palace before going back to see his friends.

4. Seeing Double
Atem returns to Domino City to tell Yugi and Co. that there is a big surprise waiting for them at the Domino Museum.  When they arrive at the Museum they are shocked to see Ishizu Ishtar and her brother Marik talking to people that look exactly just like them only that they are darker in color than Yugi and Co. Atem introduces the Egyptian look-a-likes of Joey, Tristan, Serenity, Duke and Melody to Yugi and Co. who look a bit frightened to see them. Atem assures them that it's all right and the Egyptian Counterparts go up to the Yugi-tachi shaking their hands, and introducing themselves as Jono, Tiet, Dai, Renee, and Elyon.  Melody and Duke are also introduced to Atem's Wife Teanna whom they never met before.  Then Marik and Ishizu tell everyone except Atem and Yugi that their next mission is to treat their Egyptian Counterparts to a day enjoying the many present wonders of Domino City to which everyone agrees and soon they head out of the Museum to begin their Adventures in Present Day Domino. (And of course, they need to meet up back at the Museum at sunset.)  The first thing Yugi-tachi and their Egyptian counterparts decide to do is split up into groups of 2 or more and decide what they want to do. Teanna, Tea, Melody and Elyon decide to go to the Mall and go shopping. Jono, Joey, Tiet, Tristan, Duke and Dai decide to go to the Arcade and Yugi and Atem decide to split up and join each group to check up on them and see how they are doing.  Yugi also tells his friends that he and Atem will make sure everyone's back by noon at their meeting point, which is Domino High.  At Noon everyone is back and they decide to check out Domino High and see what it's like.  Afterwards, they have lunch at a Restaurant, and then go for ice cream and a walk in Domino Park. At the park they meet Seto Kaiba and his brother Mokuba who make fun of them. Tiet and Dai wonder if that's Priest Seto from the future. To which Atem replies "Unfortunately, Yes" Later, Yugi and the gang realize what time it is and also realize that they are far from the museum.  Luckily the Reignwaker happily uses his magic to teleport them there. Afterwards, everyone is back at the Museum by sundown but Ishizu and Marik have yet another surprise for them in store. Although the Egyptian counterparts have to go back to their own time they do give them presents to remember them by. Then everyone leaves except Teanna and Atem who kiss then Teanna gives Atem her Locket and tells him that it was actually a millennium item she created herself out of her own love and heart and that she wants Tea to have it to always think of her.  Teanna says goodbye and leaves. Meanwhile, Tea, who is almost ready to admit that she'll never see her fashion-forward friend ever again, gets the locket from Atem, and thanks him. Then she goes into her house, up to her room where she puts it on.  Tea realizes that she isn't alone nor is she in her room. She finds herself between two different Soul rooms One Pink and one Purple. Going into the Pink room she's shocked to find Teanna and hugs her.  Teanna then tells her that she now has the power to transform into her and any of her various outfits in a snap as well as still have Teanna as her personal playmate.  Tea thanks her and silently thanks Atem for the best gift she could ever ask for.

5. The Scarab Curse
Twas Dusk in Ancient Egypt and all through the land not a creature was stirring not even oh wait! Far away from the Palace lived bloodthirsty creatures making their way towards a small Egyptian village ready to scare the daylights out of the people there. These creatures are called scarabs and they too have a clan known as the Scarab army from the villiage of Tarravuran. From that villiage people do fear these kinds of creatures for their bites that cause them to have such terrible nightmares. Nightmares filled with dread leading the person to be cursed to cause terrible crimes, suffering plagues or worse.  Their weakness is pure hearts and voices that sing and they can come from anyone's mouth whether they are a slave or a king.  Too bad the king is way too busy singing horribly in a shower in a house in present-day Domino city.  Ok... Why am I half-rhyming a Yugioh episode here at the beginning I wasn't, but now you know it's suddenly clear.  Oh Dear! Let's move on without the rhyming shall we? Well in present-day Domino city, Atem was in the shower taking a nice hot bath singing "I feel Good" by James Brown horribly at the top of his lungs.  Yugi who wonders where the singing is coming from decides to go to the bathroom only to find out that its Atem singing.   However, he likes Atem's singing and wishes to hear more so he heads closer to the shower until he sees Atem naked, singing and laughs. This causes Atem to scream, lose his balance and slip, trip and fall in the shower bringing the curtain down with him. Atem is then shocked to see Yugi's Mom and Grandpa standing near the door laughing their tuckers off.  Then Atem starts crying. Yugi tries to cheer the 5,000 year old crybaby up by telling him that he has a great singing voice. But then Atem tells Yugi about a time in the past when his singing voice, thanks to his annoying bratty sisters, ruined his entire life forcing him to only sing in private until the day he drops dead.  Atem then asks Yugi if he could keep it a secret that only they know about to which Yugi says yes to. However, the next day at school Yugi bails on him and tells Tea, Joey and Tristan anyway.  This makes Atem real angry, but then realizes that even friends have a right to know his deep dark secrets. After school Yugi and Co. meet up with the Reignwaker only to find out that their next task will lead them on a rescue mission to save Egypt from a scarab invasion.  Atem is completely terrified and his friends ask him why. Atem replies that if there is anything worse than him singing horribly that he fears it's scarabs, especially a whole horde of them.  Yugi assures Atem that he and his friends will handle the entire situation.  When they arrive back in Egypt Yugi is shocked to find people already lying down with cuts and bruises in which Joey makes a reference to Scary Movie. Tristan baps him on the head telling him that he sees a dead Joey Wheeler if he doesn't cut it with the movie references.  Atem wonders what happened to which Priest Seto replies that a whole horde of scarabs came and bit them Atem then screams and tries to run but trips over a small rock and falls right on the ground. Yugi tells him that he can't always run away from his fears.  Priest Seto however does say all his life he's been afraid of scarabs and even brave kings have fears that they just need to run away from.  Then a woman screams "Help Me! They've bitten my baby!" Atem goes "Oh no!" and gets into action trying to suck the scarab's poison out of the baby and cradle it in his arms.  The woman then tells him to be carefully these scarabs can hurt children as well as adults brave or scared.  Atem thanks her and says he'll see what he can do. Yugi of course knows that thanks to his fear of scarabs, the brave Pharaoh can't do a thing about it.  After Yugi tells him this, Atem starts crying again.  Yugi then tells Atem that crying won't help at this stage of the game.  His face then softens and then he reminds Atem of the time that even he taught Yugi to face his own fears. Yugi then says that maybe he should teach Atem to do the same. Yugi then apologizes for yelling at Atem earlier and tells him that everything is going to be fine.  Atem thanks him for giving him back his confidence and decides to figure out a way after all.   Going to the Palace library Atem researches about the Scarabs and finds out that their weakness is the vibrations of people's singing voices and how they can also heal wounds and remove the scarab's deathly curse which is forcing them to become animosity-driven and evil.  After telling his friends about what he found out he realizes he's the only one that can stop this madness altogether by not only getting over his fear of scarabs, but also of him singing in public.  Then he hears Yugi scream and runs to a nearby cave where he is surrounded by the scarabs ready to bite him at a moment's notice.  Atem summons up enough courage to protect Yugi but ends up being bitten himself, and blacks out.  When he wakes up, he is back in the Reignwaker's cave being treated like any other patient. Yugi thanks Atem for defending him from the Scarab army to which Atem says "You Welcome"   and falls back asleep. When everyone else is gone Atem starts singing to himself and the Scarab's curse on him is broken. However the Reignwaker over hears him and tells Atem he has a great voice. To which Atem replies "Thanks but I don't do concerts, or children's birthday parties or" but the Reignwaker stops him and asks Atem does he really want to hide from the rest of the world without showing off his musical gift. Atem realizes that that's how he can get rid of the scarabs and thanks the Reignwaker for giving him the courage to sing in public once again.  Then he goes outside of the cave, closes his eyes and starts singing.  The Scarabs hear him and begin to dance.  They follow Atem in a "Pied-Piper-like manner"   who takes the Scarab army back to the city of Tarravuran where they will never harm anyone in Egypt again.  Everyone in Egypt cheers including Yugi and Co. who tell him that they knew he had it in himself, and like in duel monsters, he just has to believe in himself.  Yugi and Co. along with Atem head back to the present with their mission accomplished.

6. A Well Balanced Duel
At the Domino High Cafeteria the old lunch lady is feeding people got-some-goulash which Joey makes a complaint about infuriating the lunch lady.  Luckily Atem stands up to the lunch lady trying the goulash saying that it's delicious. This puts a smile on Madame Luanda's face and decides to make more goulash especially for him.  Then the lunch lady runs off leaving a very confused Yugi and Co. who later blame the pharaoh for standing up to the lunch lady by saying the goulash was delicious and tasting it.  Then a mysterious white light appears and out comes Shadi and the Reignwaker who surprise Yugi and Co. with good news.  Egypt is once again peaceful and everyone there says their thanks. To which Atem replies "You're welcome." Then Shadi says that there is bad news as well. He returned to check up on Atem and the Reignwaker and realized that they still can't cure Atem's appetite problem.  This is confusing to Yugi and Co. who says "What!" Atem wonders if they at least found a way to make it seem not so obvious.  The Reignwaker replies that they can try a dieting plan. Shadi thinks the idea is crazy, but Atem realizes it may work.  Yugi of course pulls Atem aside asking him what's wrong with him now.  Atem tells Yugi and Co. about his appetite problem in the ancient past, and realizes he never told his friends yet.  Yugi and Co. are then convinced and say that they'll help Atem cure his appetite problem for good.  They start with feeding him his favorite smoked salmon food along with apple slices and grape juice. Then they get health obsessed and try to make Atem eat healthy and not go near junk food thinking that might be helping the appetite problem.  Along the way they get him to exercise on a treadmill, pull 8 pound weights 5,000 times, and jog all around Domino city.  However Atem can't avoid his new obsession of junk food and it gets him a lot more tempting just thinking about it. After doing the best they could Yugi and Co. realize that they can do better and plan to take away all the junk food they can so Atem can't eat it. Too bad Atem goes sleepwalking that night and finds the food gobbling every bit of it till theirs nothing left. Then he says "Must have More!!!" and goes on a junk food spree eating every single food item in Domino city that there is.  When Yugi realizes Atem is gone he calls the Reignwaker, Shadi, and of course his friends to help Yugi find him.  When they do find him, they scold him for eating badly and making his appetite problem worse instead of better.  Then Atem says that Yugi looks like a chicken, and Joey looks like turkey. Shadi says that Atem is now hallucinating that Yugi and Co. are food items too.  Then Atem chases Yugi and Co. around Domino city saying "C'mon I only want a nibble." Then Yugi gets an idea and they see Madame Luanda selling goulash however when Atem eats the whole cart of goulash he is still hungry although he is getting fatter.  Then Yugi decides to challenge Atem to a duel then remembers he didn't bring his duel disk and realizes all hope is lost.  Then the Reignwaker notices him rising into the air while yelling for help. That's when the Reignwaker snaps his fingers and Atem sinks to the ground like a balloon.  Shadi then notices that the Reignwaker cured Atem's appetite just by snapping his fingers. Sadly when Yugi notices tears in Atem's eyes his face softens and realizes Atem is weak and looks like he didn't eat anything all day.  He then feeds Atem a chocolate bar and pretty soon Atem feels better and tells Yugi and Co. that he's cured and thanks everyone for their help.  Atem also apologizes for being so stubborn and Yugi and the gang forgive him. Shadi says goodbye to Yugi and co. as they head back to their houses for a much deserved nap.
