"Come on Ethan!" you called up the stairs. Today was your birthday, and your boyfriend had agreed to take you ice skating. It was one of your favorite things to do, but Ethan's... not so much. You were hoping to change that today.

"Coming (Y/N)!" Ethan sang as he slid down the banister. You giggled as he landed off balance and tumbled to the ground. He immediately bounced back up and took your hand in his, leading you out the door. It was plain to see that he was excited for this, even if he disliked ice skating.

Ethan's POV

We finally made it to the ice rink, and (Y/N) had to help me with my skates. It was kinda embarrassing, but I had only ever been skating twice in my life. The first had been when I was really young, like two or something, so I couldn't really remember it. But I definitely remembered the second time. Let's just say it ended in tears and deciding to stick to gymnastics.

Once we actually got onto the ice, I held on tight to (Y/N)'s hand. I didn't want to fall, obviously. We made a lap around without anything bad happening. Then (Y/N) stopped and faced me. "I think it's time for you to let go, Ethan," she commanded me.

"Uh, o-ok, but if I fall, it's your fault," I stammered, nervous.

(Y/N) just laughed and reassured me with, "I'll be here, don't be cranky about it."

"Oh, haha," I mocked. Then I tentatively took a few awkward sliding steps forward. When I didn't fall, I turned cautiously and smiled at (Y/N).

Your POV

Ethan was so cute when he smiled. You smiled back at him and then encouraged him to go on a bit farther. He made it three more steps before he started to lose his balance. Flailing his arms wildly, he saved himself by grabbing onto the wall.

You tried unsuccessfully to stifle your giggles, and Ethan glared at you. "A little help, please?" he asked.

"Ok, ok, I'm sorry," you said as you slid over to him. Helping him up, you kept his hand in yours. "You're still gonna skate though," you promised.

Ethan smiled again. "Well, duh, I kinda have to."

"Here," you said, repositioning your hands, "I'll pull you, and then I'll let go. All you have to do is keep your balance."

Ethan looked rather doubtful, but he nodded anyways. "Ok, but how do I steer?"

"Just shift your weight from side to side," you explained, then skated off to demonstrate.

When you got back to Ethan, he was clapping. "Yay (Y/N)!" he cheered.

You brushed a piece of (H/C) hair out of your face, blushing. "I'm not that good, really," you insisted.

Ethan kissed your nose. "But to someone who's as inexperienced as myself, it looks amazing."

You smiled at him. "Your turn now," you reminded.

Ethan immediately melted. "Do I have to?" he whined.

"Yes!" You took off with his hand in yours, pulling him along behind you.

Ethan let out a yell of surprise, earning both of you some stares from the other skaters, but neither of you cared. You were having too much fun! Just as you started turning, you let go of Ethan's hand and he shot forward towards the wall. Just before he hit the side, he switched directions, managing to make a wobbly turn back towards you.

"Did you see that?" he asked excitedly. "I did it!"

You laughed at the happy expression plastered on his face. "I'm proud of you, blue boi."

The two of you continued skating for another hour before you plopped down exhausted on a bench just outside the rink.

"Phew!" Ethan exclaimed. "That was a lot more fun than I thought it would be!"

You nodded in agreement. "Thanks for taking me, Ethan."

Ethan squeezed your hand. "Of course, (Y/N). Mind you," he laughed, "when it's my birthday, we're going to the gymnastics building across the street. And I'm gonna make you do cartwheels."

"Oh-no!" You covered your face, pretending to sulk.

You two had another laugh, then headed back out onto the ice. You loved hanging out with him. No matter what the two of you did, it was always better with Ethan.

This one's the shortest one so far! 😱 Anyways tho, the one that I'll be publishing on Friday will make up for this one (It's Jack again btw). I hope you did enjoy this one tho!
