Ethan-Arrow Dodge Challenge
Your POV
You were hanging out at your favorite park when you noticed a large group of people at the softball field. Naturally you were curious, so you got up and went over to investigate. Much to your surprise, you caught a glimpse of one of your favorite Youtubers, Markiplier, standing at home plate talking to a camera! You rushed over and stood with the crowd. Seeing some plastic bows and arrows lying on the ground, you assumed that everyone would playing the arrow dodge challenge with Markiplier and his friends. This is going to be amazing, you thought excitedly.
Mark chose five people to shoot at him. You were slightly disappointed when you weren't picked, but you laughed along with everyone else as he danced around, trying to avoid the arrows. He only got hit once on the foot, if you didn't count the times he tried to catch an arrow but missed. You giggled as Mark dabbed away from an arrow.
Next it was Tyler's turn. You had made your way up near home plate, so you were pretty close to him. Someone with blue hair holding a camera bumped into you. "Whoops, sorry," he apologized.
"No, no, it's fine," you assured him. "Are you with Mark?" you asked curiously. You hadn't seen him in any of Mark's videos. Then again, you had been too busy to keep up with them lately.
"Yeah, I'm his editor," he laughed. "I'm Ethan by the way."
"I'm (Y/N)," you said.
Ethan adjusted the camera. "Nice to meet you, (Y/N)." He headed over to Tyler and started asking him questions. You shook your head at his silliness, smiling.
"Is this fun Tyler?" Bob asked.
"I don't like Mark coaching!" Tyler admitted to much laughter from the crowd.
Tyler did well in your opinion, and you cheered loudly with everyone else when he executed a cartwheel.
"Alright, who's up next?" Mark asked.
Tyler's reply was immediate. "Ethan!"
"I'll go," Ethan said.
To your delight, you chosen to be in the group that was going to shoot at Ethan. You got your bow situated and then looked around for Mark. "Where did Mark go?" you asked another girl standing next to you.
"He's over there," she said, pointing.
Mark was heading over in your direction with a little girl behind him. "-that man in the blue hair," you heard him say to her, "he's trying to copy Jacksepticeye." You snorted with laughter.
"I know Jacksepticeye!" the girl yelled excitedly.
Mark responded, "I know, and that's not Jacksepticeye. That is a faker-"
"Top of the morin to ya laddies!" Ethan yelled.
"-he's a faker." Mark turned back to Ethan. "See, that wasn't even close," Mark accused. Turning back to the girl, he said, "Now what you're gonna do, is you're gonna help us take him down." He handed her an arrow and told her to run up and stab Ethan when he was least expecting it.
"What? Stab me?!" Ethan exclaimed. "I didn't hear anything other than, 'I want you to stab him.' That's all I heard."
"Ok, cool," Mark replied nonchalantly. "Ok, you're good, stand on home plate."
"You ready?" Tyler yelled.
Ethan replied, sounding rather scared. "I'm ready!"
You listened absentmidedly to Mark planning his attack as you watched Ethan bob from side to side. His antics made you giggle. Just then, Ethan looked your way... and winked. You blinked. What? Why'd he do that? Maybe he was just being silly like before, you thought. Still, you couldn't help feeling hopeful for some reason.
"Everybody ready?" Mark shouted, bringing you back to reality. You drew your bow and aimed right at Ethan's feet.
"Fire!" Mark yelled. You released the arrow; however, Ethan did a sideflip out of the way and you missed.
"I dodged them all-" Ethan yelled in triumph, stopping short as Mark and the little girl ran towards him.
"You can't stop us!" Mark yelled as he charged. Ethan tried to dodge out of the way at first, but then Mark tapped him on the back with his arrow and he fell comically to the ground. Mark and the girl stabbed Ethan's back repeatedly, then they stood up and cheered. Ethan flipped over onto his back, his stomach and legs covered in dust. You couldn't help but giggle at the sight.
The girl left with her mother, and Mark came back over to us. "Okay, that was terrible," he reprimanded us. "You were outperformed by a young child. So, you need to somehow redeem yourselves. Are you ready?" he asked.
"Always," the girl next to you answered.
Ethan was back in position. "N-nock," Mark commanded. "Aim... cheat by walking forward..."
You laughed quietly to yourself as Ethan yelled, "What?! What is happening?! No!"
"Cheat some more-"
"NO!"
"Cheat..."
"PLEASE!"
"Aim..."
"NO-"
"Fire-cheat!" Mark commanded. You loosed your arrow and laughed as it hit Ethan's back as he tried to shield himself. "Excellent, you did great," Mark told us.
Ethan adjusted the goggles he was wearing and started talking to Wade. "He's not paying attention, go, go, go now, go now," Mark whispered.
Ethan turned around at the last second and screamed. He shielded his face with his hands. "No one gave me any warning!" he protested.
"Yay!" Mark cheered. "We are all winners except for him!" he said, pointing at Ethan.
Next was Wade. You heard him complain about the goggles being too sweaty, then you turned your attention to Mark, who was talking to the line of new recruits.
You were slightly startled as Ethan touched your arm. "Hi again," he said.
"Hey Ethan," you said, smiling. "Your turn was really funny."
"Uh huh, for you maybe," he said, pretending to pout.
"Anyways, I was wondering if you could help Amy and I film."
"Uh, sure!" you agreed. "What do I need to do?"
"Just record Wade getting shot at and I'll ask him silly questions from time to time," he explained.
"Alright then, I'll do that."
"Thanks, (Y/N)."
You took position with the camera and focused on Wade. You introduced yourself and made small talk before Mark's team was ready. Then you took a few steps back, accidentally tripping over Ethan.
"Whoa!" he yelled. "You ok (Y/N)?"
"Yep, I'm fine," you said, trying to hide your blushing face.
Wade made a silly speech, fitting for the Lord of Minions. However, it was interrupted by a volley of arrows. You and Ethan both laughed, then stopped abruptly, both of you blushing.
You continued filming and Ethan would make occasional silly comments. Goofing off with him was a lot more fun than shooting at him, that was for sure. After everyone had gone, you gave the camera back to Ethan and rejoined the group of people. Ethan, holding the camera, went along the line of people as they all did a wave. You giggled at his little, "Yay!" at the end of the wave.
Mark ended the video and most of the people left, some staying for conversations with their favorite Youtubers. You were about to start heading home when Ethan ran up to you. "(Y/N)! Are you leaving?" he asked.
"Yeah, my mom's by herself now and she's probably wondering where I am," you laugh.
Ethan nodded. "Ok, well, uh, here's my number, so, uh, yeah! Call me sometime, ok?" he blushed, handing you a piece of paper.
You took it and smiled at him. "Ok, I will," you agreed.
"Ok, then, talk to you later. Bye!" he yelled as he ran off to join his friends.
You tucked the slip of paper into your pocket and started walking home. Today was a good day, you thought, smiling. A very good day.
