Backstory:This is when your parents broke up.
Your P.O.V.
I was at school in my last class. I was taking notes for my class. The class was interrupted by the classroom phone ringing,"Continue taking notes."the teacher said while picking up the phone. Bored out of my mind I started sketching in my notebook. I heard the teacher hang up the phone,"Ms.Koshy your leaving." My teacher said I looked up and nodded. I grabbed my stuff and started packing. I started walking to the office I spotted my mom once I walked into the office,"Hey mom." I hugged her she returned the hug. We let go of each other and left the school. Once we got in the car I asked my mom a question,"Why did you pick me up early?" She quickly glanced over at me. There was something off about her. She kept her eyes on the road,"Well your dad and I have to have a serious talk with you." She said seriously. I started to panic,"Am I in trouble?" I asked a bit panicky. She shook her head,"No of course not. Just know what we tell you is not your fault. Promise that you won't blame yourself okay?" She said seriously I nodded,"Okay...I promise.."~○~
Once I got home I put my stuff away in my room. I heard my mom answer the front door and heard some mumbling. I went out into the living room and saw my dad,"Hey dad." I greeted with a smile.
"Hey kid." He's always called me this since I was a kid. But when he said it this time it felt a bit...off. Like he was sad but had a hint of happiness like it was a forced happy voice. We sat down on the couch my mom and dad looked like they were about to cry,"So what's up? You guys are acting very strange." I said
"Well we have something to tell you...but promise you won't be mad at us." Mom said with sadness laced in her voice. I tilted my head a bit curiously,"I won't." I replied
"Your dad and I..umm....we broke up.." my mom started to get a bit emotional. No this can't be happening... I thought,"When did you guys break up?" I asked
"About six months ago.." dad replied hesitantly I felt so sad. How am I supposed to react to this. These are my parents,"Why..? Why did you guys break up?" I asked my voice cracking in the process.
"We felt distant.. we decided it would be best to take a break.." dad replied,"But I'll still be around." Dad said I nodded,"Why did you guys keep it a secret from me?" I asked
"We thought it would be best to just keep it a secret for a while." Dad replied.
"We understand if your upset with us. We did keep a big secret from you.."mom said
"I'm just a bit shocked...I'm not mad though...I'm just upset?" I explained not knowing exactly how to explain my feelings to them. Afterwards they decided to tell their fans. I decided to not be in it. I stayed in my room thinking.~●~ Its been a few weeks I still hang out with my dad. We still do some things together like a family. Currently I was in my room just on my phone. There was a knock on my door,"Come in!" I said I looked up and saw my mom in the doorway,"Hey mom." I replied while looking up from my phone. She walked into my room and sat on my bed beside me,"So how have you been holding up?" She asked I shrugged.
"Fine it's not like I lost dad you know?" I said,"I still get to see him all the time. So you know it doesn't bother me that much." I replied honestly,"Well I'm glad. Just know you can always be honest with me." She said I smiled and nodded," I always am." I replied
"I know you are." She smiled,"Want to head to the movies later?" She asked
"Sure can dad come?" I asked
"Of course." She replied afterwards I got ready to go to the movies. I'm glad my parents aren't any different. I'm glad that I didn't lose my dad forever. My parents are still good friends and treat me the same. I'm glad that nothing has changed. They will still always be my family.
