Goodnight- Dunkim

It was just sprinkling when Duncan and I finished recording "Flux Buddies." I sighed, getting up from my desk. I put on my my coat and took out my umbrella with a penguin on it.

I passed Duncan's office on my way out of Yogtowers. I peeked inside to say goodbye, but he was gone. He probably already left. It was dark outside, I'm not afraid of the dark, but with the rain it made it sort of spooky.

I walked to my car, quickening my pace as I went. I felt my heartbeat calm when I finally got inside. I turned on the car, and checked around for anybody behind me. It was too late, and everybody had gone home, so I was surprised when I still saw a car parked.

I backed out and parked next to it, to see Duncan in the front seat. He suddenly slammed on the steering wheel of the car. He looked very upset. I honked my horn slightly to get his attention. When he looked up I rolled down my window and he did as well.

"Duncan? What's wrong," I asked.

"My car is broke again. God dammit," he mumbled irritably.

"I can give you a ride home. I wouldn't want you to have to wait in the rain for a cab, and I'm pretty sure the buses don't run this late," I smiled nicely.

"Thanks, Kim," he smiled. He got out of his car and grabbed his things from his car then got in the passenger seat of mine.

I plugged his adress into my phone and we began driving. "Sorry about your car," I said after a long period of silence.

"It's alright, I need to get a new one anyway," he shrugged.

"I can give you a ride to work tomorrow if you'd like," I offer.

"Thanks Kim, but I've got the day off. And you do too, don't you," he asked.

"Yeah. But I figured I could help you out a bit," i smiled. A couple minutes later we pulled up to Duncan's place.

He got out and got his stuff, but before shutting the door he asked,"Would you like to come in for some tea?"

"This late," I questioned.

"It's the least I could do for a ride home," he shrugged. I nodded, getting out of my car and following Duncan inside.

It was quite nice. Small, but cozy. He walked into the kitchen and started boiling water. I awkwardly sat down at his table, and he went out and turned on the TV that could be viewed from where i sat.

The news was on, and we both watched. "We advise nobody to be on the road at this time due to heavy rain and hail..."

"Oh, great," I muttered sarcastically.

"Lucky I invited you inside, otherwise you would be in some trouble, eh," he asked, chuckling a bit.

"Yes, thank you very much. Hopefully my windshield isn't shattered by the time I leave," I muttered.

"Would you like to pull in to the garage," he asked.

"Oh no, it's alright I'll be leaving in a bit anyway," I smiled. He gave me a worried look.

"Kim, are you sure? It's quite dangerous, I don't want you getting hurt," he muttered.

"Oh, I'll be alright," I smiled half- heartedly. He nodded, and looked back at the screen.

"... We are getting reports that they are closing the main roads..." I groaned and Duncan chuckled.

"Looks like you are staying the night, I have a guest room," he suggested.

"Don't really have a choice," I muttered.

"Sorry Kim, but I don't want you to get hurt," he muttered back. He went up to the stove and grabbed the tea, pouring it into two cups.

He drank it quietly, sitting across from me, and I just sort of stared at it.

"Kim, what's wrong? You don't seem like yourself," he asked.

I shrugged, I really had no clue. He nodded, getting up to change the channel to a better show. He sat back down across from me, and I felt his eyes looking at me.

I looked up and sure enough, he was staring. "What are you looking at," I asked. He shrugged in response, taking the last sip of tea.

"I'm turning in for the night. I'll show you the guest bedroom," he smiled. He walked down a hallway, then motioned to a bedroom. It had pale green walls and a white covers with blue sheets.

I turned around," Thankyou, Duncan."

He smiled, leaned in, and I felt his lips against my forehead. He pulled back, with a smug grin on his face,"Goodnight Kim." He walked two doors down, and went into another room which I presumed was his own.

I just stood there dumbstruck. My face was bright red, and I just stood there. I walked up to his room door and knocked. A few seconds later he walked up.

"Yes," he asked.

"Why did you kiss me," I asked curiously. I did like it, butterflies still lingered in my stomach.

"I don't know. Just felt like it," he shrugged casually. We stood there in silence. "I presume by your blush that you enjoyed it?"

I looked at him,"What did it mean to you?"

"What did it mean to you," he asked back. I glared at him, but my glare softened when I saw it in his eyes. He genuinely liked me.

I stood up on my tippy- toes and kissed him on the cheek. "Goodnight, Duncan," I smiled, walking back towards my room.

I was stopped by someone holding my wrist gently. I looked to see it was Duncan. He walked up to me and leaned down. I could feel his breath on my lips, and the anticipation of the kiss was killing me.

He finally leaned in all the way, and I swear sparks flew when his lips touched mine. After a couple seconds he pulled back and I heard him whisper," Goodnight, Kim."

"Goodnight, Duncan"
