•THIRTY•Epilogue•

It took an entire week for Remy's body to be found in the field, but when it was, the suicide note was believed. No will was found to be written by him so his few remaining assets were given to the state since he had no living relatives either. Remy died completely alone and somehow brought his two worst enemies closer together through his death- something he most certainly did not want to do.

Yes, Logan and Patton were brought a lot closer together- though it did take some time for their relationship to be completely in tact again. They had a few arguments here and there in the beginning of it all, but once they both finally started therapy their lives were made a lot better. Being able to better understand their own mind and the mind of the man they loved so much was a huge help to being able to mend their slightly damaged love life.

Both of them were diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Logan also specifically being diagnosed with Separation Anxiety Disorder. Patton's extra diagnoses included both OCD and Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder, the latter being a disorder unheard of by both of them but explained a lot of the urges to daydream Patton often got and gave in to. All of these diagnoses were sudden, but they were very helpful and explained a lot of the things both had been questioning about themselves. The disorders were in no way causing Patton and Logan's murderous behavior, of course- they had really developed because of it, or because of completely separate events. Both began to get help, and after a lot of hard work from the two of them they either completely overcame their mental health issues or learned to better live and deal with them. Patton was especially proud of himself when he started to fill his and Logan's house with plants, finding that taking care of them was a nice, healthy coping mechanism and also just made the house look a lot better, too.

Neither really ever had murderous thoughts again, either- not that much. Patton did have a brief period where his mind tried to tell him that people were trying to avenge Remy, but since he had his husband to help him take a deep breath and realize that those thoughts were irrational, he- and Logan, for that matter- were officially done with murder. Clearly, being able to better communicate was helping them a lot, and if they would have had that in the past they could have prevented basically all of the traumatic experiences they had been through. They didn't want to screw up anything again, and they didn't.

Once they were officially back on their feet and felt that their relationship was mended, they realized that neither of them had ever picked up the adoption form papers that had now been sitting on the coffee table for weeks. So, one day, they sat down, and they finished filling them out. About a year later they got in contact with a young mother who was planning on giving up her child for adoption upon his birth and Patton and Logan agreed to adopt him. After talking it over with the mother, and at least two weeks of careful consideration, Patton and Logan finally decided on what to name their new son.

And what did they name him?

...You'll never guess. I'll give you a moment to think about it.

Have it? Have your guess? Alright.

Logan and Patton brought their son home a few days after he was born, and on his birth certificate, his name read...

...Joe.

That's right. Joe- the name of the first man Logan ever killed.

Logan was actually the one to suggest it, and when he did, he was really only joking. But after a lot of thought from the both of them they thought it would actually be a good way to honor their strange past along with the original "Joe" himself. It was really one of those decisions that just sounded like the right thing to do even if you couldn't put into words exactly why.

Both of the new parents really wanted to give their son a chance at a normal life, so they raised him well and gave him all of the love that Logan had missed out on when he was a kid. They educated him well on the dangers of bad decisions and bad communication between two people. It took Logan and Patton a while to decide whether they wanted to give Joe a healthy fear of death to stop him from seeing it as okay or to let him be neutral about it so any intrusive thoughts he might have don't scare him too much, but eventually, they just decided on a compromise between the two- making sure Joe knew that death was a bad thing but also making sure he knew that a person's thoughts do not define the person who thinks them.

Joe had a good life. He made friends quickly and especially bonded with the son that Roman and Virgil eventually adopted, who they named Sage. Joe and Sage played together a lot, then being the young kids that they were. Joe grew up in a loving, accepting environment- so accepting that when he started getting crushes on boys when he was seven he realized that it wasn't the most hetero thing but he came home excited because "he got to marry a boy just like his dads did!"

So, all in all... Joe was happy. Which made Patton and Logan terrifically ecstatic. He showed a lot of potential to be an amazing person when he grew older, but really as long as Joe was happy, that's all his parents cared about.

"Patton?"

Patton blinked and turned around, seeing his husband. He smiled gently.

"What are you doing over here? I said your name a few times, you didn't answer." Logan asked, coming to stand next to him. Patton looked ahead again.

"Sorry, I didn't hear you- I think my hearing aid is upstairs still. Didn't bother putting it in today. But I'm just staring at the wall and thinking... you know how I am. Reminiscing. Nothing special."

Logan smiled, taking Patton's hand. "We sure have been through a lot, haven't we? But I'm glad we've come out the other side."

Patton leaned his head gently on Logan's shoulder. "I'm really glad, too."

"Jeez, how can you two look so sappy even when you're just staring at a wall?"

Both turned around and saw their friend Virgil, smirking at them with an eyebrow raised. Behind him they saw Virgil's husband Roman, chasing around Joe and their own son Sage.

Patton giggled. "I don't know. That's just how we are."

Roman and Virgil were currently hanging out at Patton and Logan's house. They actually did this a lot more often now, which was nice, since they had stopped for a good while before Virgil and Roman had gotten married. The adults would normally just laugh together while their sons- both now nine years old- played in Joe's room, and everyone enjoyed it. Virgil and Roman were getting ready to leave at that point though, so everyone was downstairs.

Virgil turned around suddenly and chuckled upon seeing Roman pick up both of the squeaking kids in his arms. Roman spun them and then put them back down, laughing.

"Alright, you two, we're gonna head home so say your goodbye's," Roman instructed as the two boys began to calm down from their giggles. They hugged each other tightly before hugging each other's parents, who they referred to as their uncles. After one more wave, Roman, Virgil, and Sage were out the door.

Logan sighed as they left, sitting down on the couch, and Patton just smiled out the window at the car that was now pulling out into the road.

"Hey, Joe, how about you go clean up your room, okay?" Patton asked his son. Joe pouted for a brief moment before nodding and running upstairs. Patton walked over to the couch and sat down next to his husband.

"That was fun," Patton commented. Logan smiled, nodding.

"Yes, but now we have twice the amount of dishes to do."

Patton punched Logan's arm playfully, smiling. "Oh, hush, we have a dishwasher. You're just lazy."

"Maybe I am," Logan smirked.

Patton giggled, leaning his head on Logan's shoulder for a moment, sighing happily. The two sat in comfortable silence for a bit, just glancing around the room, when suddenly there was a knock at their door.

"I'll get it," Logan offered, standing.

Logan sighed as he made his way to the front door, already debating in his head what item Roman had probably left somewhere. He was always leaving things at their house on accident, and there was no telling what it could be this time. Could it be his keys? Wallet? Phone? Once he somehow left his shoes at their house, which was incredibly bizarre.

Logan unlocked the door and opened it. His mouth opened to tell Roman off, but the person who stood in front of him... was not Roman at all.

A man. Short, ruffled dark brown hair and a hollywoodian-styled beard. He was a few inches taller than Logan and he was about as pale as him too, with what looked like the same sharp jawline and honey-colored eyes that Logan had. He was wearing a green flannel button-down shirt tucked into jeans, a brown belt wrapped around his waist.

Logan stood there confused, eyebrows furrowed while looking the man up and down for a good few moments until something clicked in his mind. His heart skipped a beat, double-checking to see if what he thought was true, and he stuttered.

"...D-Dad?"

He didn't look any different from when Logan was a kid.

Logan's father stood silent, a small yet worried smile on his lips. Logan blinked, and he took a deep breath.

He was feeling... a lot. Angry, for when he had to leave him so early on in his childhood. Sad, for all the time he could have spent with his father instead of trying to track down Patton and any guy who came near him in high school. Lost, for not knowing exactly what he was supposed to do upon seeing his father for the first time in about thirty years. And, just frankly... confused.

But above all of this, he felt happy.

He stepped forward and wrapped his arms tightly around his father in a hug, burying his head in his neck and sighing deeply, his breath shakey. Logan's father hugged back immediately, the worry from his mind gone, just happy to be able to hold his son in his arms again.

When they pulled back after what felt like a century, Logan grinned, covering his mouth with his palm and feeling tears pricking the corners of his eyes. He wiped them away and laughed through his disbelief, his dad just smiling at him the whole time.

"Oh my- oh my god! You- I- how did you even- oh my goodness, I-I'm so happy." Logan stuttered out, still beaming. His father chuckled, still smiling himself.

"I'm happy, too, Logan. I can't believe it took me this long to find you, though."

"No, god, please, you're here now, and that's all that matters. I- come in, please do."

Logan's dad stepped in and Logan turned around, spotting his husband peeking out from behind the wall. Logan chuckled gently, walking up to him, noticing the confused look on his face. Logan's dad also noticed Patton.

"Who's this, Logan?" He asked, gesturing towards Patton. Logan suddenly remembered the horrible, sad truth that sometimes gay marriage wasn't the most accepted thing. He crossed his fingers behind his back briefly.

"I... suppose I should introduce you two. Uhm, Dad-"

Patton gasped upon that word and promptly covered his mouth, realizing he accidentally cut Logan off. He beamed through his hand, and giggled softly.

"Sorry, keep talking," he whispered through his hand. Logan smiled briefly at him before looking back to his dad.

"Dad, I would like to formally introduce you to my..." he took a breath, "amazing... husband, Patton."

Logan's father's content face immediately changed, a wave of surprise washing over him. His gaze flickered between the two for a moment, Patton and Logan feeling terror in their veins as they waited anxiously for a response.

Eventually, Logan's dad's face changed again, but this time, he grinned.

"Oh... oh my goodness! Oh, Logan, that is so wonderful! I- hi, Patton, you can call me Andrew."

Logan's dad stuck out his hand to Patton and Patton quickly shook it, smiling wide. Logan was smiling too, and his dad looked to him.

"Logan, this is all so amazing! I- Once again, I am so sorry I couldn't find you sooner. It's not like your mother would tell me anything, and I wasn't even sure if you were still in the state."

"It's okay, dad, really. It's not your fault, it's not like you wanted to... leave, I know you didn't. But, as I said, you're here now, and that is all that matters."

Andrew smiled. Logan smiled back.

"Dad, I'm done cleaning my- ...room?"

All three turned to look at the staircase as Joe came walking down it. Upon seeing Logan's dad, who he obviously did not recognize, he shrunk away a bit, not sure what to think about having three adults staring at him at once.

"Oh, Joe, come here." Patton reached an arm out to his son. Joe hesitantly walked forward, grabbing his arm and sticking at his side. Patton smiled down at him, also noticing that his Andrew was slowly connecting the dots.

"Joe... this, is your father's dad. Your grandfather."

Joe's eyes flickered between all of the men in the room until a smile could be seen on his face, too.

"Wait, so I have two pops?"

Logan chuckled. "Yes, you do."

"Cool!"

Joe ran from Patton's arm to his new "pop"'s, deciding to drop his hesitant attitude. He hugged his arm, and Andrew beamed, looking up at his own son.

"I'm... I'm a grandfather, then?"

"Yeah, you are."

"Wow... and you're... you're really willing to let me into your life as soon as I show up at your doorstep?"

Logan chuckled. "I know the circumstances are, well... a bit odd, but at the end of the day, you're still my father. I've really been dreaming about the day you would show up at my door since I was eighteen, so yes, of course you're allowed into my life- or however you would phrase it."

Andrew's smile somehow widened. He had nothing to say, just letting his smile speak his mind. Logan smiled back at him, before blinking a few times.

"Oh, here, come sit down. I'm sure there is a lot to talk about."

Joe eventually ran back up to his room so the three adults sat on the couch together and talked for about an hour. Logan talked through everything that had happened in his life up to that point, mostly choosing to gloss over all of the murderous events, just labeling them as drama and nothing more.

After the hour passed Logan and Patton realized it was way past their kid's bedtime, so they exchanged contact information with Logan's dad and agreed to meet up again very soon. With a few last hugs he left, and both smiled watching his car drive away.

Logan was still beaming, and Patton noticed this. He took his husband's arm and smiled himself.

"This was a good day, then, wasn't it?" Patton asked, leaning against him.

"Indeed it was."

"Should we get Joe in bed? It is the weekend but he still doesn't need his, uh, one thing out of the loop... what's it called again?"

"He doesn't need his circadian rhythm messed up."

"Yeah, that."

The two made their way upstairs and informed Joe to get ready for bed, which he did pretty quickly. He was tucked in to bed and wished goodnight before Logan and Patton went away to their own rooms.

They started to get changed, and Patton smiled as he looked around his bedroom. There were many pictures hung up in there, including one sitting on his dresser that had a picture of him and his brother.

A couple months after Janus died Patton finally came to terms with it, and he was able to see pictures of his brother without bursting into tears. Logan re-hung the picture that he had taken down downstairs, along with placing a nearly identical copy in their room that was black-and-white and had a yellow flowers in a yellow vase sitting in front of it. It was just a nice way to remember Janus, and Patton enjoyed looking at it from time to time.

When the two were done changing they climbed into bed together. They cuddled up to each other, as usual- that was one thing they never grew out of, and likely never would. They needed to be near each other to fall asleep. It was something that neither minded at all though, so it was always nice to cuddle before they fell asleep. Logan was feeling extra giddy tonight though, so he held his husband a bit tighter than usual. Patton noticed.

"Someone's still excited, aren't you?" He asked, smiling. Logan smiled back, nodding.

"Yes, I am. When I answered the door I thought Roman had left something here again, as he usually does, so seeing my dad was a nice surprise."

"I'm really happy for you, Lo."

Logan chuckled, kissing his forehead. "Thank you."

Both were silent for a few moments, just listening to the sounds of the night. They held each other close, and Logan let out a happy sigh.

"You know, I always kind of compared you to my dad when we were in high school. Maybe that's why I got so... attached." He combed his fingers in Patton's hair. The latter hummed, smiling.

"Yeah, you told me."

The two actually often talked about their past like it was a walk in the park. It had been about ten years since it all went down at that point, so it was definitely much easier to talk about. The two even joked about it every once and a while, just because they were over everything that had happened. The "classic" joke they had that was whenever Patton was struggling with something, Logan would say something along the lines of "let me handle it, I know what I'm doing. I've killed four people." to which Patton would respond, "and I've killed ten, so doesn't that technically make me more qualified than you?"

It was a stupid joke, and it honestly sounded horrible, but for some reason both of them loved it. They had to stop using it a lot after Joe started to get a bit older though because they didn't want him knowing that both of his parents had a body count. Other than the one they had with each other, considering the... other definition of the word "body count". Actually, it was probably better for Joe not to know anything about either.

But, so what, maybe they're psychopaths, talking about their traumatic past like it was any normal thing. They probably were psychopaths. But everything was okay, because now? They had each other. And that was something that would never change, not in a million years.

Patton held his now half-asleep husband close to him, and Logan leaned down, right next to Patton's good ear.

"You're mine," he whispered. A phrase that he had whispered many times before falling asleep. It was a nightly routine for him, and though it sounded creepy, it gave both a nice feeling of calmness before falling asleep. Why?

...Honestly, Patton just couldn't agree more.

"And I'm yours."

Aaah, oh no, the books over! Epilogue! Better go ahead and close out of the chapter...-

WAIT, HOLD ON! Stick around for a sec. Yeah? You're still reading? Good. Because I've got a few things to say.

For starters, I am so. Goddamn. Sad. That this book is ending. This series is practically my child and I'm watching it go off into the adult world. Or... something. I don't actually know what parenting feels like.

Point is, it sucks. I've learned a lot through writing these books and I think my writing skills have improved through them as well. I seriously considered writing a third book for a good amount of time, especially after seeing how much some of you wanted one, but I really can't think of anything that it could be on. I mean, Patton and Logan are still married, Remy is dead, Roman and Virgil never really had any of their own drama... what else is there to write about?

(note from 7/31/20- haha... uhm, about the third book thing... just go read the bonus chapter titled Joe's Research. [added 2/14/21:] Or just go right to my profile because this bitch exists now.)

But I still love and cherish this book so much.

...which is why, instead, I will be opening the comments to questions about the book/plot/characters  A N D  I'll be writing a few bonus chapters!

Aah! I am so excited for this. There's a lot of happenings "off-camera" that I really wanted to write out, including (but not limited to) Emile's last day, Logan and Patton's first date, maybe some stuff about their son finding out more about their past (nothing too big, though)... etc. Also, I'm sure there's just a lot of random questions you guys might have, whatever they might be about.

Have any questions? Want to see a specific bonus chapter? Comment! I read all my comments lmao, I'll see it.

Also- yeah, that's right, there's more. Don't go yet!

Remember when I said around the middle of the book that, at the end, I'd be releasing screenshots of Logan and Patton's house that I built in The Sims 4 game? Well, the big "spoiler" I didn't want y'all to see in the house was Joe's existence, but now that he, ya know, exists, I can post the pictures of the house!

I was going to post the pictures to tumblr but I've decided to instead just drop them all in my first Bonus chapter, which will be posted as soon as this goes up. It was just a lot easier for me to put them right here, you know?
(If you're reading this right after the epilogue was posted you might have to go out and back in to Wattpad to get the first bonus chapter to load.)

So, now, I'm not really gonna have a book out, am I? Darn.
I do have plans for one, though. It probably won't happen until August though, maybe even September. I have a lot of theories on the orange side (IT'S DARK!SIDE/STOICISM LOGAN AND NO ONE CAN CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE-) so I'm making a book on it lmao.
This is the first sanders sides theory I have come up with completely on my own and I just love it so much. It's probably gonna be Analogical, maybe a little bit of Intrulogical and/or Loceit sprinkled in just for fun. But it will revolve around DarkSide!Logan.

Want to know when that's posted? I could always update this book when it is to let y'all know, if you want. :)

OKAY! ONE LAST THING, BEFORE I GO AND MARK THIS BOOK COMPLETED!

Now that you've read through it all, I want you to just take a step back and really think about the following question, because it is one that- as the author- I'm honestly not sure what the answer to is.

The question?

Who is the real antagonist of the story?

Now, this sounds obvious- Remy, right? But could it be Logan? Or could it be the communication problems between Patton and Logan? This is all assuming that Patton is the protagonist, too.

That's all. Just something to think about. I mean, I'm sure most of you realized in Mine that Logan wasn't exactly "the hero", but is anyone qualified to be that in this book series?
...Probably not.

Alright, that's all I've got to say. I love you guys so much, I really do. Thank you for all the support on this book, and I hope to see you all somewhere on Wattpad soon!!

See you in the next book! 💖💖💖💖💖
