"In today's news, we have whereabouts on the location of Remy Cafe, the murderer of five of his highschool classmates and now of three other civilians, the latter happening within the last week."

Patton immediately paused the TV, and Logan, who was sitting next to him, sighed.

It had now been three days since they had to cancel their dinner plans with that detective, since he was, you know... dead. And Patton was enjoying himself at home. Logan payed no attention to the outside world and never left the house, not even to go on walks around the neighborhood. Patton got every ounce of his attention, and he loved it.

But he wasn't sure he was going to love what the guy on the news was about to say.

"...I think it's best if we listen, love. If he's close by then we'll have to take precautions. It's safer."

"Yeah, but... I don't know. I'm just scared."

Logan grabbed Patton's hand, sighing once more. "So am I. But... we have to."

"...Okay."

Patton unpaused the TV.

"...After careful searching from the local police, his location is believed to be close to the high school where he had murdered five of his classmates. He has believed to been spotted behind the school during the mid-day yesterday. Police are working on trying to surround the area and capture him before he can escape."

Patton paused the TV again.

"...High school? That's, like, two hours away from here!" Patton exclaimed, a smile slowly forming on his face.

"Yes. And if he was near a few days ago when... when we had to cancel those dinner plans, then he must be getting farther away."

Now, Patton wasn't sure about that part. He could be getting closer. But two hours is two hours, and Patton was pretty sure that things were looking up.

Logan smiled, leaning back on the couch. Patton snuggled into him, leaning his head on Logan's shoulder.

And then, Patton's phone vibrated in his pocket. He sighed, getting it out, and seeing that Janus was calling him.

"Oh, it's Janus. I'm gonna step into the bathroom again real quick," Patton told his husband. Logan nodded, and Patton stood up, quickly running into the bathroom and pressing the answer button.

"Hey, Jan, what's up?" Patton asked, leaning against the bathroom wall.

"Hey, P! I was just calling to check in. Have you seen the news?"

Patton smiled. "Yeah. He's two hours away from us right now."

"That's great. You sound pretty happy about that.

He smiled wider. "Well, of course I am! Logan's been staying home a lot more recently, too. Not that he's been leaving much, he really only ever leaves to go on walks. But he hasn't been doing that. It's been... nice."

"I'm glad. Look, I don't wanna pester you too much about this, but have you had that talk with him yet?"

"About... about what?"

"About what you had been thinking recently."

"Oh, that one. Uh... no. I haven't." Patton chuckled awkwardly. "It's a hard thing to bring up organically, you know? But I don't really know if it matters that much anymore, since he's getting to far away."

"Yeah, that's true. Let me tell you, though, that communication is the most important part of a healthy relationship. Er, not that your relationship isn't healthy- you two really do seem to love each other, a lot. But it's still something you should do."

Yeah... Patton really didn't want to. He just didn't.

"I'll think about it. Thank you, though, Jan. Thank you so much for caring about me for all this time. It makes me happy that I was probably the first person you thought of when you saw the news today."

Janus chuckled. "Of course. I mean... we're brothers, I'm supposed to do all this. It's not like I actually enjoy talking to you, or anything."

Patton giggled, covering his mouth at his brother's sarcasm. "Mhm, yeah, sure. You're being forced to talk to me."

"Absolutely, I am."

Giggling more, Patton tried to calm himself down, but it was hard when Janus started to lightly laugh, too. They laughed together for a good few moments until both quieter down into a gentle chuckle.

"...You sure are something, Jan."

"And so are you. I'll let you go now, don't wanna keep you from your husband for too long. Talk to me soon, alright? If you don't call me you know I'll just call you myself."

"I know, I know. I'll talk to you later. Love you, JJ."

"Love you too, P."

Patton hung up, and smiled, slipping his phone into his pocket. He idled in the bathroom for a moment, just smiling, before walking out and joining his husband on the couch again. Logan took note of Patton's happy attitude, smiling himself.

"You seem awfully happy," Logan commented.

"Yeah... I just like talking to Janus. He really is a great brother. He saw the stuff on the news that we just saw and immediately thought to call me."

"That's very sweet of him."

"Yeah, it really is."

Both stared at each other for a moment, smiling, until Logan wrapped an arm around his husband's shoulders. Patton wrapped his arm around Logan's torso, scooting closer to him. Patton placed his free hand gently on Logan's leg, and Logan put his own free hand on Patton's arm. They snuggled close together, nuzzling their heads together and smiling.

"I love you, Lo," Patton said, his cheek being pressed against his husband's cheek.

"I love you too, Pat." Logan moved his head to kiss Patton's forehead briefly before moving his head back to where it had been before. They nuzzled their heads together again, both letting out a soft giggle.

For the next week or so, life continued on normally. Actually, scratch that, it was better than normal. Because not only was Logan home every single second of the day, but every morning when Patton turned on the TV, he found out Remy was even farther away than he had been the last day.

"Remy Cafe has been spotted half an hour from his high school..."

"The murderer was spotted last night about two hours from his former school..."

"Police are now preparing to corner Cafe, and it is believed that they know where he has been hiding..."

Things were actually going pretty decently.

Patton's mental health had been doing a lot better, too. With no one to worry about getting to his husband, he had time to really figure things out about himself and about what was going on.

He wasn't really sure what to think of himself at that point, since he had killed four people. He couldn't go back on that. But he was coming to terms with it. Yes, it was wrong to do, and he hated that he had done it, but...

...Now that Remy was so far away, he was pretty sure he'd never have to do it. Again.

So...

Everything was, somehow, okay.

Okay so like I kinda built the house that Logan and Patton live at in The Sims 4 and I want to share it with you all, but not exactly sure how I'd do that. I'm definitely not posting the actual house to The Sims 4 gallery, someone I know irl follows my sims account and I really don't need her knowing I write gay murder fanfiction lmao. I'm thinking I might take screenshots and just post them on my tumblr. Would you guys be interested in seeing that?

Anyways...

See ya in the next chapter!2️⃣
