Chapter Fifty Three

Damian's POV

We walked into the church, y/n on my arm as we followed Miguel and Gina to a pew. Y/N tripped slightly as she steps on the hem of her own dress.

"Take it easy princesa," I whisper to her making her giggle lightly "Can't have my fiancee face planting in the church."

"Trust me Luis. It's not like I'm trying to trip on purpose," she said as we moved down the pew. Y/N sat beside Gina. They smiled at each other as Lorenzo and Rachel slide into the pew. Lorenzo beside me.

"Hey," he whispered.

"Hey," I said as Gina and y/n were in a conversation about how all the flowers made the church smell beautiful and how y/n wished Jethro could smell them. I felt the lump in my throat. I reach over and squeezed y/n hand and she gave me a teary eyed smile. I leaned over and kissed her forehead "I know Baby," I whisper "Jetty would have a field day on the alter."

She nodded as she laid her head on my shoulder as I wrapped an arm around her. Gina looks at me.

"Was it something I said?" she asked. I shook my head 'no.'

"She just misses our boy," I said quietly as I fought my own emotions "We both do honestly."

Gina frowns as Charlie slid in next to Rachel with his long time girlfriend Sam. I gave a small wave and he returned it.

Charlie moved past Rachel and Lorenzo for a moment "You two okay?" he asked quietly.

I nod "Just emotions taking hold," I said quietly as Charlie nodded not wanting to ask more questions.

He slowly made his way back to his seat.

"Want to step out?" I asked. She shook her head 'no' "You okay?" she nods 'yes' as she wipes away a few silent tears. I kissed the top of her head "I got you," I whisper as the church was filling up nicely. One of those old churches in New York City area with lots of beautiful architecture and the stain glass that could take your breath away "Babe. Take a look at all the beautiful stain glass," y/n lifted her head and looked at the windows.

"Wow," she said as she looked at them "They're beautiful," I gently hooked her chin and turned her face to look at me.

"Not as beautiful as you," I said smiling at her making her smile back at me.

"Sweet talker," she said with a smirk.

"Always with you Babe," I said placing a quick kiss on her lips as Vivaldi's Four Seasons filled the church as the remaining guests took their seats.

We watched as the groom walked down the aisle with the best man. The priest leading them to the alter. Jake stood with his twin brother Blake. Taking a deep breath as the seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen walk down the aisle in perfect intervals. The flower girls and ring bearer walk down the aisle. Next was the maid of honor, Hannah's sister Bethany. As soon as Bethany walked into the church the doors behind her closed. As soon as Bethany hit the top of the aisle the Wedding March began and we all rose to our feet. The doors open and Hannah and her father who was my history teacher, Mr. Hopkins in school entered the church. I see Jake exhale slowly as he sees Hannah. I wrapped an arm around y/n and kissed the top of her head as she wrapped an arm around my waist. Watching Hannah walk towards Jake I looked down at y/n who smiled up at me. I wink at her and she blushes.

Mr. Hopkins shook Jake's hand and gave him Hannah's hand. Mr. Hopkins smiled and went to sit with his wife and Hannah's mom.

"We are gathered here today to join this man Jacob Gregory and this woman Hannah Brady in holy matrimony. If anyone here can show just cause as to why these two should not be wed please speak now or forever hold your peace," said the priest. No one spoke "Please be seated."

We sat and I put my arm around y/n's shoulders. She laid her head on my shoulder and put a hand on my knee. I smiled as we listen to the ceremony.

Finally the vows that Jake and Hannah wrote themselves....

"Jake. When we met as kids and became friends I never in a million years thought we would be standing here today joining our hearts as one. When we reconnected at the support group for losing a spouse I never thought we would have been guided to falling in love. When we shared our first kiss the night we both opened up about losing our respective spouses-" I heard a sob and I pulled out tissues from my pocket and hand them to y/n.

"Thank you Luis," she whispered.

"You're welcome y/n," I whisper as I squeeze her shoulder.

"-Jake as I stand here today joining your heart and mine. I'm so thankful for that night that drew you to come to the support group. I love you more than words can say. Here is to our forever. I love you."

Jake took a deep breath before opening his paper "Hannah," he smiled "we met as kids and immediately became friends. We drifted apart after college when you went your way and I went mine. But the Lord does work in his own mysterious ways and knows what he is doing-"

I am lost in thought listening to the heartfelt words my friend was saying to another friend. I felt y/n squeeze my knee as she reaches up and gently brushes away the tears that were falling.

"It is my pleasure to introduce to you the new Mr and Mrs Jacob and Hannah Gregory," said the priest as we all stood and applauded as the Beethoven's Ode to Joy plays the newly married couple out as they're followed by the wedding party and the parents as soon as all that were supposed to file down the aisle first the guest began filing out of the pews. I instinctively take y/n's hand and laces our fingers.

"That ceremony was beautiful," said y/n as were milling around awaiting the bride and groom to come out of the church. A wedding planner's assistant hands out bottles of bubbles.

Gina nodded "The vows were beautiful," she said as she stood beside y/n "made me sob."

"Me too," admits y/n "And I don't even really know them."

I chuckled and put an arm y/n's shoulders "It's because you have a beautiful soul," I whisper to her making her smile.

"Back at you," she said kissing my cheek before she wipes away her lip print from her cherry red lipstick.

A photographer steps out of the church so we all had the bubbles at the ready and as Jake and Hannah step out of the church we begin blowing bubbles. Y/N giggles as one of my bubbles lands on the tip of her nose. It pops.

"Sorry amor," I said.

"No worries," she said winking at me.

Jake and Hannah pass us as the walked to the limo. As they got in and the limo drives away. The guests all break for their cars. Luckily we brought our rental if we wanted to leave the reception early we could.

"Pops. We'll follow you," I said to my Dad. He nodded as I opened the door for y/n as she got in the car. I shut her door and head to the driver's side. I get in and y/n smiles at me "We're about twenty minutes from the reception location. So sit back and relax," I laced our fingers and rest them on the center console as I follow my Dad to the banquet hall where the reception is being held "So are you okay?"

She nodded "I am," she said "Sorry for being such a baby at the flowers."

"Honey," I soothed as I rubbed the back of her hand with my thumb "Don't be. As soon as I saw all those flowers. I immediately thought of Jetty Boy. He would have had a field day with all those roses on the alter." She nodded at me teary eyed. I reached over at the red light and wipe away the tears that fell. She did the same for me. I brought her hand to my lips and kissed it "I miss him too Baby," she gave me a smile as I pressed the gas and continued to follow Dad. We eventually pulled into the banquet hall parking lot. I parked behind Dad and Mom. I got out and opened the door for y/n. She swung her legs out and took my outstretched hand. I smile as she walked forward and I shut the door "Ready to dance?" I asked.

"I am. Are you?" she asked with a smirk.

"That fine ass of yours best believe I am," I said as I put a hand on her ass playfully swatting it. She yelps lightly causing Mom to turn to look at us. I gave Mom an innocent smile.

"You're going to get us caught," y/n whispered.

"Oops," I smirk and wink.

"Luis!" she scolded.

"Y/N!" I said matching her tone.

"You're trouble," she whispered.

"And you hate getting in trouble with me," I said with a chuckle as she signed the guest book. I held her by her hips pressing up against her. She stood bolt upright and looked at me.

"Down boy," she said with a smile as I leaned forward and signed the guest book before we head to find our table. Luckily a sign outside the grand ballroom had the tables. We were at table twenty with my family and Charlie and Sam.

I held a seat for y/n as she sat putting her place card in front of her silver charger plate. She put her clutch next the charger plate as Mom sat beside y/n and she gave her a smile as Dad held the chair for Mom.

"Y/N. Luis," she said with a smile.

"Hi Mamá," we said as I caught y/n out of the corner of her eye. We didn't have to talk we knew we would have to be on our best behavior.

"How did you enjoy the ceremony?" she asked us as Mom did the same as y/n placing her place card in front of the charger.

"It was beautiful," said y/n as she placed the cloth light blue napkin on her lap.

"I agree," said Mom as the waiters came around to fill the water glasses.

"Do you have lemon?" asked y/n. The waiter nods.

"I will bring some out in a few minutes," he said.

"Okay. Thank you," she said.

🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷🇵🇷

After a sit down dinner of either steak, chicken or a vegetarian dish. I had taken the steak and y/n the chicken but we split it and shared and the wedding cake it was time for the garter and bouquet toss. We watched as the women basically started a wrestling match to get the bouquet.

"Remind me to throw the bouquet and then run like hell," said y/n.

"Don't worry. I will be right there," I said "I can grab you and run."

She giggled "Because we will have the women who could easily beat people up," she said.

I nod in agreement "Same with the men. Imagine the garter toss," I chuckled.

"We will throw and then yeet," she laughed lightly "Like Josh did when the Wyatt Sicks came out." I laughed as I was taking a drink of my whiskey sending some up my nose causing me to sputter and cough "I'm sorry Baby," she gently wipes my nose.

"It's okay. I forget you get a few drinks in you and your even funnier than normal," I said kissing the side of her head.

Once all the "traditional" dances it was time to dance.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper came on Sam, Gina and Rachel grabbed y/n and pulled her to the dance floor. Luckily y/n had kicked off her heels since they, Gina and Rachel sorta dragged y/n towards the dance floor. I watched as y/n danced around with my sister in laws and my best friend's girlfriend laughing and singing.

Mom moved to y/n's seat "Luis," she said and my attention went to her but I kept an eye on y/n through my peripheral vision.

"Yes Mamá?" I said.

"I love how y/n is already fitting into the family. Like a hand and glove," she said "Your father and I can not wait to have her join our family."

I smiled "I can't wait to share our last name with y/n," I said with a smile. Mom pats my hand.

"You and me both," she said "Not only does she fit in with Gina and Rachel but Esme adores her. Your brothers adore her and your father and I absolutely adore her. We love what she has done for you in the very little time you two have been together," she said "Promise me one thing?"

"Anything Mamá," I said.

"Always be happy," she said.

"I don't see that being a problem with y/n," as y/n, Sam, Gina and Rachel head back to the table as a slow song came on. Mom squeezed my hand.

"Good," she said moving back to her chair as I stood as all the girls made it back to the table. My Dad, brothers and Charlie follow suit as they sat. I kissed y/n's cheek.

"Have fun?" I asked only loud enough for y/n to hear.

She nodded "Even though I wanted the first dance to be with you," she pouts slightly as Uptown Girl by Billy Joel came on.

"Come on," I said as I took her hand "Let's go," I nod to the dance floor.

She grins and I can tell she was slipping her heels back on. We walked to the dance floor and we start dancing. I spin her and sing to her making her laugh as we dance.

"We need this at our reception. Look at the dance floor," she said. She was right the entire dance floor was filled.

"Agreed," I said as Footloose by Kenny Loggins came on. Y/N giggles as she grabbed me and we got into the line dance.

"Follow my lead," she said "Saw Footloose enough to do this dance," I watched as she danced with everyone. I was keeping up best I could. The sound of the floor as everyone's shoes hitting the floor at the same time caused the floor to vibrate through my body. It was almost like an actual movie scene at the end. She laughed hugging me "Babe you did great."

"And you told me you couldn't line dance," I teased as Let's Hear It for the Boy by Deniece Williams start.

"I watched Kevin Bacon's Footloose enough to know the end dance," she shrugged. I wrapped my arms around her waist and she wrapped her arms around my neck as we bop around the dance floor. We're laughing as the photographer comes around snapping pictures. I am sure we are in a few as y/n sings along and grabbed my hand as we bounce off the dance floor "Need a refresher." My parents head to the dance floor as Let's Twist Again by Chubby Checker. We sat and my brothers and I can't believe how well Mom and Dad moved around the dance floor "So that is where you got the moves huh?" she said to me as she drank her jack and coke.

I chuckled as I kissed her lips they tasted like Jack Daniel's "Cat is out the bag," I chuckled as the song ended and Mom and Dad came back to the table. All of us looking at them a bit shocked.

"What?" they said.

"You guys have moves," said Lorenzo.

"Just because we're older doesn't mean we can't dance," said Dad making y/n giggle.

"Mis-" began y/n and Dad raised an eyebrow at her "Pops. Save a dance for me?"

"It will be a pleasure y/n," he said smiling as he had told her to call him Pops on Wednesday when we had dinner at my parents place.

"Fantastic," said y/n as All of Me by John Legend started I tapped y/n on the shoulder and she looked at me. I nod slightly to the dance floor. She nods as I stood offering her my hand. She placed her hand in mine and we walked to the dance floor. I spun her and took her into my arms. She drapes her arms around my neck. We sway slowly to the song. She laid her head onto my chest as her arms slipped lazily around my torso. I held her, my hands rest gently on her lower back as we just sort of go in a circle. I quietly sang the song to y/n and I can feel her smile against my chest. One hand slipped to cup her ass cheek "Luis," she warns quietly as she grabbed my wrist bringing my hand back to her lower back "I wouldn't mind if it was just us but your parents are like right there," she nods towards the table "Let's keep our dancing PG-13? Save the NC-17 stuff for home," she said as The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson began. We stayed on the dance floor. We kept our dancing to a PG-13 which I could understand as we did have my family sitting two tables away. As that song faded out we decided to go grab a drink and a couple cookies from the dessert table. As we made our way back with our goodies The Way You Look Tonight by Frank Sinatra began. Dad stood.

"Y/N shall we?" he offered his arm and y/n glanced at me. I gave a reassuring nod as she hands me her cookies and drink before she took Dad's arm and he led her to the dance floor. I put our things down before pulling my phone out and went to take a photo and a video of y/n dancing with my Dad. I knew they'd both enjoy it. I slipped behind a pillar and made sure I wasn't in anyone's way. I snapped a picture of them before quickly changing to video. I leaned against the wall and taped. My smile I know had to be a mile wide as Dad was moving y/n across the dance floor like they were on a cloud. As the song ends Dad kissed y/n's cheek as they hug as Dancing In The Street of by Martha Reeves & The Vandellas. Y/N noticed me against the wall slipping my phone into the pocket of my pants. She came over grabbing me by the hand as Mom joins us on the dance floor. Dad danced with y/n again and I danced with Mom. I couldn't get over how smooth y/n was on the dance floor to the older music. But I guess it's because that's how she grew up.

"I danced to this at my aunt's wedding back in 1990 when I was seven," said y/n and then it hit like a lightning bolt. I did remember seeing little y/n dancing with a man who was rather large but was smooth like butter on the dance floor. Dad eventually grabbed Mom and they danced to another part of the dance floor and y/n taught me how to dance like she had as a little girl "Babe just swing your arms up and down and snap," she said "and then move your feet like your squishing a bug." I laughed but did as I am was told and we started cutting a rug "Good job Babe," as the song came to end. Give me a good slow song where all I have to do is dance in a circle, a Latin song where hips are involved or metal song where all I have to do is bang my head. I am good. But give me a song like Dancing In The Streets and I am a wallflower.

"Thank you Babe," I said as Jambalaya (On The Bayou) by Hank Williams came on as we wove our way back to the table. I knew this song was for Hannah's favorite movie Steel Magnolias. As we sat y/n looks at me as she took a drink of water.

"Is Hannah a Steel Magnolias fan?" she asked.

I laughed "I figured you would have figured it out," I said as Steel Magnolias is one of y/n's favorite movies and she had told me that Jambalaya (On The Bayou) was from Shelby and Jackson's reception. She rubbed her arms as the air conditioner was on and she happened to be directly under the vent. I quickly removed my jacket and placed it over her shoulders. She slipped her arms in and pulled the jacket closed.

"Can we get out of here for a while. I have a headache and just want to get out of this room for a while," she said.

"We can leave the reception all together," I looked at my watch "We have been here for over four hours. And it looks like they're not stopping anytime soon."

Y/N nods "I'd like that," she said as we said goodbye to everyone.
